My friend and I saw a man with a beautiful deep purple drink and was told him and his wife ordered a Ghost Train Margarita, we wanted the same because the Halloween menu sounded fun! This drink pictured was the Ghost Train Margarita we got, it didn't resemble what the man ordered. I ordered the Pineapple Express which supposedly is the "Ghost Train Margarita" without blackberry preserves...? Very interesting. We were made the same drink and when we pointed it out she just added blackberry preserves to the Pineapple Express. Cool outdoor vibe though, enjoyed the DJ most of all. read more

We tried out the outside patio as it was as dog friendly. That was definitely a plus. The patio was spacious and pretty and has seating for big or small groups. The positive experience kinda ended there. It was our first visit and we asked the bartender what the my suggested - online showed a variety of mixed drinks. He said they were between seasons and we could have draft beer or a canned drink or he "guessed" he could make a mixed drink if we knew what we wanted. Super disappointing as we'd come to try their featured drinks online. We were disappointed as well that there were no snack or food offerings during the happy hour time. Rosedale is a new bar. It's in the place of the former Neons. The bar looks pretty much the same. It still has a nice patio and bar. The service is pretty quick. I had a Sweetwater beer. It's about $5 for a pint. That isn't bad for a great craft beer. It's beer and cocktail menu isn't large. What brings people in is the patio. And it brings them in. Especially on weekends. Come on a weekday for a more enjoyable experience. There's actually room to move. It's also very dog friendly. There were quite a few dogs leashes around the tables. It's a pretty good successor of the previous bar. Maybe it's not as good. This is still a nice place for getting together. read more

As someone in the industry, I am confused as to why they act as if it is in their best interest to be the way they are. They seem angry when you interact with them, and angry when you don't. Last time we were there for a work happy hour, bartender seemed upset when I asked them for a drink...there were only five of us there and the bar was not busy at all. Would not care if they closed down and their rude bartenders and staff lost their jobs. Nothing like it used to be when it was Neons. I will admit I broke the "rule" and used the mens bathroom when the girls was 20 people deep but to get escorted out of a bar for that is just a power trip from what I now know is an anti LGBTQ security guard (black man with long hair and glasses). Mind you I was completely sober, complying/listening, not even loud and apologized. Plus I had asked the men in there before going in and they were even the ones that said just go when the stall opened up. Was washing my hands when he says you can't be in here. So I said sorry I'm leaving. I then said "but you can't tell me how I identify or just assume". After I said this (while I was walking down and complying to leaving) he proceeded to follow me and at the bottom of the stairs says no you have to leave the bar now. Really? For using the men's bathroom? Anyways, I was happy to leave the bar since there's nothing to miss but you can't tell me that a woman using a mens bathroom is get kicked out of bar worthy, especially if you weren't even making a scene, belligerent or rude. You just must not like the comment about being LGBTQ positive and took a power trip. Later was talking to a friend of mine, he mentioned he hates this bar because he is LGBTQ and has had rude service from the bartenders with a group of other LGBTQ friends. I am an ally and it pissed me off when I hear things like this, so I at least wanted to leave a review for others to see. Sounds like I'm not the only one who thinks the bartenders and staff are rude based on some of the reviews. Lovin' the new Rosedale! It has a classy yet rustic vibe inside complete with fireplace. There is also a pool table and small video game table. The seating at the bar is nice and there are a few couches and tables to choose from. Outside there is still the prime location patio with fireplace/pit. Not much was going on outside besides the fire, but in the summer they said they will have guest chefs among other things! We came on a Sunday, sat at the bar, and pretty much stuck to the beer. They have a nice selection of craft draft as well as cans. They were out of a few things, but understandable since it was the end of Bockfest weekend. I did sample a custom egg white cocktail someone else had and it was really good! Maybe next time i'll grab some cocktails. We spent quite a few hrs here and watched our bartender handle the crowd by himself without even batting an eyelash. He seriously rocked! There is pretzels mixed with wasabi peas for munching (upon request). Added bonus, indoors and out is pet friendly! On this particular day there were several doggies hanging out! read more

Rosedales is one of my all time favorite bars in cincy. They have a great inside and outside area so it's great for any time or weather. This weekend it was super nice and we played cornhole for a while which was so fun. This place is really fun during the day but also a great night time spot as well. This is a staple bar that my friends and I frequent when we go out in OTR, especially when the weather is nice. One of my favorite things to get to drink is their "pub beer". It's only $3, and is a simple, light beer. The decor is very similar to when it was Neons with some additional decorative outdoor lighting. The outdoor space is really awesome, with both cornhole and giant Jenga available to play. They also have various food venues sell food when the weather is good. If you want to be inside, but it's too crowded downstairs, there is also an upstairs. read more

Yeah, yeah, yeah we all know Rosedale took over in place of Neons. The layout is still very similar, with an updated vibe. I'm not a huge fan of the dark decor inside, but it has a consistent rusticness to it. If I'm going to Rosedale though, I don't really plan to be inside. With that being said, the patio of Rosedale got some serious love. I love the lights hanging in the trees, the actual nice tables that don't feel like your safety is at risk, and the updates outside bar. I'm not sold on the bocce ball area yet though. I went on a Sunday night and it wasn't too crowded so people could comfortably play, but I wonder what happens on a packed weekend night as the courts take up a lot of needed space. Also, the courts were being used for corn hole but I guess to each their own. The "pub beer" here was also only $3 and wasn't a half bad drink. I'm hoping to see a larger selection of drinks, but it could have also been the bartender who didn't seem to remember half of their menu. Rosedale seems to still be getting its footing so I'll definitely return, and of course, the best thing always is the dog friendliness of the bar! read more

We're all thinking it aren't we? WHY GOD, WHY. Why did you take our precious Neon's from us? And then the news of Rosedale opens... And not that we want it to fail by any means, but I don't think in the history of "living up to things" has there ever been a higher set of expectations put on a place. Well folks, it's open. Neons is dead. Rosedale is here. I'll admit, it's awesome - get over it. It seems to me they really tried to keep the integrity of the place, because let's face it - this is where the owners and bartenders hung out too. This space was also their watering hole for so long. They took their time and did it right. They scrubbed the place from top to bottom. Fixed the things we came to love from Neons like the wobbly chairs, uneven stairs, and sticky floors. And once you see it - it's almost like Laney Boggs in She's All That. You just KNEW she was pretty to begin with (for real how could Rachael Leigh Cook not be adorable?) All it needed was some polishing. There is an actual roaring fire in the fireplace. The seating and furniture *actually* make sense for the space. The upstairs has a BAR to order drinks from! It's outrageous. They are actually making the space functional. Not to mention the two bocce courts they restored outside - the original draw to the OG neons space. I also want to add they have a *teeny tiny* cocktail menu right now as they are rolling things out. I was that annoying girl who ordered two cocktails off menu - however a super charming gent was happy to make both for me and didn't make me feel like an asshole for ordering what I wanted which was greatly appreciated. Kudos on the fantastic service! The *ONE* thing I will miss though - is the infusions. And it's not fair to put this on them, but it might be nostalgic to have a rotating infusion or two where you can walk up like you used to and just say, "make me something with the rose petal infusion." There was no where else in the city I could do that, and that is what I will miss most. Super proud to see the restoration of such a legendary space. You had some big shoes to fill and you really did it right without stepping on anyones toes by keeping the memory alive while also making it your own. We had our engagement party in the private bar (upstairs) almost a year ago! I was amazed at the affordability for a private space during the holiday season and it was the perfect size and ambiance for our 25ish guests! We had a dedicated bartender and were able to allocate a specific amount for an open bar prior to transitioning to the cash bar. Rosedale allowed us to bring in our own food for the party and were very responsive leading up to the event! Highly recommend. read more

I found the Rosedale pretty acceptable but honestly rather non-descript. It was dark, and busy, with an attractive crowd and friendly staff. I found the whiskey sour to be very sweet and weak, but I only ordered one, so perhaps it's me, or just that one cocktail. I had to go upstairs to see the renovation, but it was a private party. Still snuck a peek, and it seems like a great place to rent out or chill. Good for them! All in all, it seems clear that the main reason for visiting this bar is the patio, so I'll update my review when I can get out there to enjoy it. read more

This one was tough to write. I want to acknowledge that some cool things were done to the space and that I think a genuine effort was made to keep some of the really awesome elements of Neons, while bringing something new and unique to OTR. Part of my negative feelings of Rosedale aren't entirely the fault of the staff. I arrived on a weekend evening, late. There was a line to get in. A line that I will never wait in again. It's not as though this wasn't an issue at Neons before, but it's DEFINITELY an issue now. There were entirely too many people at Rosedale to have a tolerable experience. I felt like I was in college again (but not in a good way). I was claustrophobic...which is really saying something considering how big this patio space is. I understand that you want to make money and you want to let people in to experience your facility. But regardless of what capacity "can" fit in here... I think it's worth asking the question, how many people "should" fit in here. Will I be back? Not on a weekend. Maybe a quiet weekday? The patio is still awesome and there were definitely improvements to the facility. read more

Everyone was sad when Neons closed, it left a huge hole in OTR for a bar with a great patio and an intimate inside. Rosedale fittingly fills this gap considering that it is the old Neons location. The dinks at Rosedale are affordable, especially for how trendy the bar is. I am a huge fan of the upstairs bar, it is a little more relaxed then downstairs and the outside bar. It is my favorite spot in OTR to grab a dink with friends especially if you are the type of person who likes to talk and catch up with the people. I have been to Rosedale with a line (something that should be expected at any OTR bar on the weekend), but when I got there on a Saturday night at 11:30 PM I just walked in. So the line can be inconsistent, if a line is your concern then I would recommend walking by first to see if it something you are willing to wait in or not. There are plenty of bars in OTR, this one offers a unique esthetic. It is a huge improvement from Neons, and the experience you have is the experience you want. Rosedale is a must stop bar in OTR and has become one of my favorite. read more

I was anxiously awaiting a place to open up in the old neons and was not disaponted when Rosedale did so. Since it was cold I only got to experience the inside which has never been the main feature of this spot but I very much enjoyed the warm fire place and variety of drinks. Though the bar got somewhat crowded late afternoon the bartender was available when needed. Overall, it was an awesome place to hang out on a Sunday and I am very excited to spend time on the patio this summer. read more

Rosedale is a welcome newcomer to the OTR scene. After living in OTR for 10 years, we decamped up the hill, but we never lost touch with OTR as a place that we are proud to have called home - and it's the community who showed us how a real neighborhood can benefit each other for the better. To start, Rosedale is operated and run by good people who care. This level of hospitality shouldn't be taken for granted with so many new bars and restaurants opening up around town. I'm a pretty simple drinker and stick to my vodka, but my friends enjoy their house cocktails (Moscow Mule, Kentucky Mule, and Aperol Spritz). This place is a super cool, typical old-school Cincinnati atmosphere! They have a great selection of beers and mixed drinks, and, my personal favorite Mango Cart by Golden Road! Despite being such a small place, they have fun typical bar games to play, pool, etc. Came here during the winter, and it was rainy, so we didn't get to see the spoken of outdoor area. As I mentioned, it was cold and rainy, so they had a fire lit in the fireplace, which made the whole place feel very homey! We stood at a high-top table, but unless you're planning on standing, sitting next to the fireplace, or sitting at the bar, there is a bit of a lack of indoor seating. Nice patio, but upcharge way too much. Offering meals for $5, but it feels like I'm back on a middle school field trip - that lunch was worth $1 at best. They have a very limited menu for specialty drinks and when I asked how much a well would cost I was told $7, but when the bill came they were $10 and there was "nothing to do about it." The inside of Rosedale has a very cool, rustic feel to it - lots of exposed brick and dark wood. Towards the back, you'll also find a pool table, cozy seating, and a fireplace. However, the best part of Rosedale is the outdoor patio with another full bar. The outdoor space is surrounded by more brick and iron fencing and is partially covered from the top with trees and subtle lighting. Even on a chilly night this fall, I really enjoyed the outside space near the heating lamps. A great spot where you'll totally forget you're near a busy street intersection. read more

Great atmosphere in summertime! A group of friends went to Rosedale on a night out downtown. We were happily surprised. It had a beautiful outdoor space that includes outdoor games like giant jenga and cornhole! They also have MANGO white claw which I have yet to find anywhere else. It is the best in my opinion! My friends complained that the drinks were a little expensive but I was willing to pay a little more to be in that beautiful space! Definitely check it out if you get the chance! read more

I was glad to see this place open again as I did enjoy Neons. The new place is very similar but has been much improved aesthetically. They cleaned it up, with fresh paint and decor, the inside is fancier, though I have never come to this location on a day not fit for hanging outside. It already had a beautiful courtyard. It always seemed like a laid back place, filled with locals, many with their dogs, drinking and socializing in a casual setting. Now it feels like it is trying too hard to be cool. Maybe the issue here is my age, but I went with a buddy to have a beer and chat but we struggled to do so over the loud, and terrible music playing over the speakers. My friend asked that it be turned down, which they did a tiny bit, but it was still uncomfortable. It was still early at 5:30. So mostly folks hanging out to unwind after work enjoying happy hour- not a roaring kegger for the bros. One other issue was that they really only had one beer on tap I was interested in. It was primarily filled with fruity beer. I understand a lot of people like these "wine cooler"-like beers, but most of us like beer that tastes like beer, how about we split the difference. Again, it is possible that this crusty old bastard just got aged out of this place with the new owners. Now, get off my lawn! read more

I am so excited something finally took over this prime spot in OTR (RIP neons). The interior is very beautiful and well-done and they still have the great beer options. I will say I do miss the edge and grunge of Neons...so don't expect the same vibe. Rosedale was much more of an upscale business crowd. I miss the rustic-ness of the Neon's I knew during my time in Cincy, but it was nice to get to visit the old (but slightly upgraded) stomping grounds. Love the outdoor patio and atmosphere! Plenty of seating room and games (billiards, corn hole, bocce ball, jenga). The drinks were great and the bartenders really know what they are doing and a big plus- the music wasn't so loud like most bars downtown. I want to give Rosedale 5 stars, but due to my undying love of Neon's they only get 4 stars. I stopped in for happy hour on a Friday and although the patio was very crowded a very nice group of people allowed me to share their table. That is what Rosedale (and previously Neon's) is about. Neighbors sharing a space and sharing a drink. the wine list was great and very well priced. It is like they took Neon's and made it prettier. Still the same bones but just looking about 20 years younger. I couldn't have asked for a better replacement. read more
