When we went, they didn't have strawberries, only watermelon. 5$ a watermelon, very juicy but not sweet

I went to Blue Fig farms because the internet thought they might have British food. I guessed that…read moreingredients for Indian cookery is what they specialize in so there could be cross overs. I keep reading about how brown sauce is a staple on every table in the UK. HP Sauce is the main brand. I stopped in on afternoon Saturday the 7th. First impression was similar to the Asia market on White Lane, maybe less cluttered, more like a small supermarket. Walking the isles I didn't see it. To make sure I asked a stock clerk. He was friendly, hadn't heard of HP Sauce but walked me to where it might be. No luck. I didn't want to leave empty handed so brought an apple soda in a clear plastic can shaped like an aluminum can up to the register. I guess they took those earlier negative reviews to heart. The cashier, a man in his 40s or 50s, was so friendly. Joking with me in a dad joke way then gifting me a little morsel on my way out. I'm sure no one else gets treats, I was wearing my cervical collar, pretty sad looking. They have a lot of different foods there. Great produce. Just don't count on finding much British food.

You can get a quick meal to go, which I haven't done yet but am looking forward to. The aromas are Devine. The staff has always been friendly and helpful to me. They have a small but excellent meat department. I noticed that they have very reasonable prices and the lamb is especially affordable compared to other markets. They have a vast array of what are exotic groceries compared to other markets. I love to just peruse the isles when I'm there. I wish they had cooking classes. It would be interesting to learn how to use ingredients I'm not familiar with. I highly suggest a visit. You won't be disappointed.

THEY ALLOW DOGS IN THE MARKET, on leashes, puppy carriers, dog strollers JUST NASTY........ FARMERS MARKET ???? I only see 2 or 3 vendors with produce, I originally hoped I t would get better over time. and nope it hasnt same 2 to 3 vegetable vendors same thing very week. 2/5 Stars I come here for 2 places Martins Meats 5/5 Stars and Howies Micheladas,5/5 Stars and other than that i don't even know why I continue to come here, I can get those any day of the week, I guess this "Farmer's Market" is not my particular cup of tea ,I have been spoiled in Ventura and San Diego all my life so im biased on the lack of variation of produce and vendors, I have tried to give them a chance, I usually am disappointed every time I come, nothing original, two or 3 places sell almost the exact same items here, and certain places are either out of what I want to get or they don't make that particular item the weekend that I come. I show up before 10am everytime and it hasn't made a difference if I showed up right before closing to get some Chamoy candies, and a Agua Fresca from Howie or some rib tips or breakfast tacos/burritos from Martin. Both 5/5 Stars Dont get me wrong for Bakersfield this is a 5 but we've gotta have more variety Final rating 2/5 Stars until they bring in some produce, and not puppies..

Although, I noticed that there were only a handful of fresh veg & fruit vendors. I came to buy hummus and tabbouleh, but unfortunately, I came too late in the day as they sold out quickly. I ended up purchasing a bottle of honey from The Honey Comb and Almond & Peanut nut butter combo from PB Jack's Nutbutter. I also bought two large pink grapefruits for $5. I wasn't going to buy anything else but an Iced Matcha Latte from Jittery Geeks was calling my name. It had a great match flavor and sweetened a bit by vanilla syrup. Will definitely try to come before noon next time to score on my wants.

Let me tell you about this Free Reign Jam in Cinnamon Pear flavor. I wasnt sure what to expect but I was Intrigued. It was bought, I made a piece of toast and took a bite. This bite wasnt just a bite, it changed my entire outlook on jelly or jams. It took my toast to a whole new dimension. The only way I can describe this flavor to you is to say I felt I had taken a bite of cinnamon toast crunch cereal with a slight pear flavor at the end. The pear was subtle and soft but the cinnamon stole the show. The jam has all natural ingredients, no weird named preservatives and had a opened life of 30 days. It wont last that long, I must go back to try everything there and so should you. I think this jam would be lovely with a charcuterie board. Invite me over if you do I will help you devour it .

We got there right at 10am when they said they were supposed to open. The gates were locked. We finally waited in the little patio area (thanks to a thoughtful employee who saw us standing outside.) Employees arrived to open the doors about 10 minutes later. We were disappointed with the poor and meager selection and the prices were too high. I did end up getting some local honey and chicken and 1 peach. I haven't tried any of it yet. I don't think we'll go back. Maybe it gets better as the day goes on when they get more produce in?

I've lost a lot of weight & it's mostly due to eating these meals daily. You can order for delivery or you can pick them up. They have wonderful monthly treats & a really cool menu that rotates weekly. One of my favorite parts about them, is it's a locally owned business and it's ran by a family. That's really cool! Also they have actual nutritionist so the meals are protein packed but also, well balanced. Modern Grub is really mindful about what they put in their food and what ultimately is put into our (us grubber's) bodies, that's a help that is much needed for myself. I try my best to eat well but let's be real: I don't cook sweet potatoes but on thanksgiving. They're a whole superfood and i love that they use them. My anemia is getting better, as well as my blood sugars. I was type 2 diabetic and it's almost completely reversed bc of my decision to just eat better with MG. I love the periodic emails with Tips on staying healthy. They're so thoughtful and well written. I've been a modern grubber for a few years now on and off, but i really committed this time. The only meals i am eating are modern grub ones. Unless i have a cheat day or I'm with someone who is cooking etc. I am disabled, so cooking with my heart condition ( alone) is difficult and i was eating out a lot. These meals are cheaper than eating out. I have no reason not to get them, in my honest opinion: if i can buy fast food everyday. I can save some money (and calories, carbs, fat, weight, etc) and just buy some mg meals. Literally i pop one in the microwave and in about 3 minutes i have my food. Doordash can't beat that. Not even with an extra fee, Orders are due by Thursday at noon and they use shop pay, that's an app i trust fully for transactions. I highly recommend giving them a try over other national prep services; that send frozen meals and use preservatives. Also, the open kitchen concept provides a really good ambience when you walk in. (Picture attached is just from a random previous order. Not an indication of their current menu or pricing. I recommend checking out their website for that.)
