We transferred both mom and dad over 3 years ago. He was already on hospice and she was just ready for assisted living. Thus, they moved into 2 separate rooms as we knew he would predecease her soon. What a breath of fresh air! Caring, professional, long-term management and staff. Beautiful and spotless facility inside and out. Wonderful activities and special events. Amazing dining experience. My dad boasted to friends and family that he felt like he was at home. He loved to sit by the fireplace and read. Mom loved bingo and scrabble with friends. And, when each of my parents health began to fail, Aegis was quick to recommend extra care and eventually hospice, letting them live out their life and die peacefully.

People tend to think that assisted living is for people who are ill. She is 96 and the upkeep on her home was just getting to be too difficult. Aegis provided relief from that but more importantly has given her fun activities and new friends. The staff there is wonderful, friendly and can help if health issues do arise. They communicate consistently, provide a welcoming and pleasant environment, and have many daily activities and weekly outings. There are separate areas for memory care patients and assisted living, and the grounds and rooms are really lovely, I'm writing this because if you have an elderly loved one considering a move such as this, I wouldn't hesitate to have them move here. The socialization is a huge thing and I think her days are much happier than when she was living alone, even if she doesn't need much assistance at this time. Was definitely the right move and better sooner than later. Thanks to all the staff at Aegis for providing a great "home" for our seniors.

I have worked in several residential settings throughout my career: A high school boarding school, college dormitories, and group homes for people with severe mental illness. I know there are many challenges in these types of settings, but from our experience with Sea Bluffs, we (my mom, sister and I) feel like every staff experience we have had in the last year-and-a-half has been top notch. We feel like everyone that works regularly with my mom on the Care Team is so kind, thoughtful, and anticipatory of her needs etc., and we soooo appreciate it. Also the maintenance staff has been very responsive, kind and respectful in all of their interactions, and the dining staff is always wonderful! Some stand outs to me, for what it's worth are Donna, Christine, Carmen, Jay, and Martha. Again, I think everyone's great, but these folks have consistently been excellent. And Jay is literally everywhere all at once :) I truly don't know how Donna does what she does, she has been a phenomenal presence since she was hired shortly after my mom arrived here. Always smiling, always helpful, an excellent communicator, always good at problem solving, always swift acting, always going above and beyond. She is a treasure! And of course with the two of you at the helm of overseeing all the hiring and training and culture building, I'd like to send along my gratitude to the two of you as well! Thanks for everything!

Moving someone you love into memory care is hard. Even the best community cannot make it easy. What it can provide is more support, more expertise, more connection and more people helping you navigate something none of us has a perfect roadmap for. That is what we have found at The Seville. The hospitality, setting and attention to detail are second to none. The upstairs community room--with its deck and 180-degree view of the Pacific--is magical. I wish it were my family room. And yes, all of this really happens: * Fresh flowers, linens and special coffee cups on the tables * Weekly music, poker, crafts and beautifully curated holiday celebrations * Regional dinners that become experiences--Italy through VR, an opera singer and limoncello spritzes * Petting zoos brought to the community * Guys' nights organized by Hector, the master of gathering people--pizza and beer, bowling or trips to the driving range * On-site physical therapy, Hoag at Home services and quarterly wellness reviews * An on-site salon where my mom gets highlights, blowouts and precious girl time with Aubrey--a magical human who loves Mom like family * Photos and joyful snapshots that let us share in her days, even when we aren't there * Jennifer turning what could be a long day into one filled with activities, engagement and connection What matters most to me is that this life is not reserved for assisted living. Residents living in memory care are included and have experiences thoughtfully created for them. My mom is not simply kept safe, fed and medicated. She is invited to participate, laugh, dress up, wear her coral lipstick and continue being **Terry**. Staffing and retention are challenges throughout senior living- from the front and back of the house to med-techs, caregivers, executive directors and nursing leaders. The Seville is still a young community, and it continues working to find the right mix of people. There have been transitions. I won't pretend otherwise. But with each one, we learn together, make adjustments and become better and stronger. Most importantly, the core medical and care team our family depends on has remained. Those relationships, that knowledge of my mom and that continuity matter enormously. The people here know her personality, routines and quirks. They laugh with her, care about her and welcome our family into the community. I never feel as though we handed Mom over at the front door. We don't always get everything right. Neither do they. Dementia doesn't give any of us that luxury. Needs change, people change and what worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. What matters is having people willing to listen, adjust, problem-solve and keep working with you. One of my biggest lessons has been this: **The best Senior Living Community is not a place where something is done to a person or for a family. It is something we build together.** If you are looking for perfection, you won't find it in Senior Living, asssited living, dementia or memory care. But if you want people willing to become true partners in a life chapter--and a community committed to creating moments of beauty, belonging and joy - that is what our family has found at The Seville.

I've visited or called every day to see if they've gotten her cable setup and they appear to be dragging their feet. There is a huge lack of communication between management, maintenance, and front desk staff that delays tasks and doesn't communicate progress with residents or their families. The other day a front desk staff members started clipping her nails while answering my questions with vague answers and "I'll leave a note" for staff who seems to always leave before the end of the day. I can't seem to get straight answers from anyone and I rarely get calls or texts back when I'm promised any. Overall, I'm frustrated with the move in and hope to see some changes in this facility soon. I'll be looking at alternative options if things don't change soon. EDIT: Katy from CSL gave me a call and we had a great chat about some of the frustrations I had regarding the delayed cable installation and communication issues. She also was able to clarify some of my questions and ease my biggest concerns/worries. She is such a sweet and caring woman, and I'm glad we were able to talk. I am very hopeful that things will go more smoothly now that some of the initial move-in bumps have been handled.
