    Homemade breakfast each morning

We absolutely loved the Rosemont Inn. We found it on AirB&B and booked for a night. After being there for just a couple of hours we talked to Terry (who runs the place with his wife) and asked to book a second night. The room had a wonderful fireplace in it, the entire inn is very cozy, and the hot tub was the perfect place to relax after a long day. The breakfast that was served each morning was delicious and filling. There's 2 house cats that love to hang out with you, Fluffy and David. Both are very loving and friendly. It was the perfect weekend getaway and we can't wait to book again for the summer.

We"ve been to a lot of B&B's and this was top notch. Pat and Marsha (our Inn Keepers) made us feel like family on our short visit to the Inn last weekend. They thought of everything. Homemade pastry and coffee cakes to go with a HUGE plated breakfast every day. They advised us where to eat and what to see in all the towns nearby. and chatted with us when ever we saw them. I have to say, waking up to the sound of Lake MI waves didn't hurt either. This place has everything, Pool, indoor hot tub, sauna, bikes to borrow, a shower room, huge and welcoming kitchen/eating area, dog friendly, amazing landscaping, and coy pond with frogs (inside joke). Most importantly clean well-kept rooms. Can't wait to take friends there next summer

    Delicious hot breakfast.

Absolutely loved the Rosemont, definitely will be back. Wish I could have breakfast every morning this delicious! Rooms are a bit small but still feel very open and comfortable. Very nice view from rooms to the lake. Clean, well kept place.

From the moment we entered, we received the kindest of hospitality. Scott, the innkeeper, provided us with so much wonderful information on things to do, where to eat and was kind in addressing any of our needs. We had a "romance" package which included wine, $50 credit to a restaurant and chocolate. The room was cozy with a faux fire place and a room overlooking some trees and down to the water. As for the breakfast (ALSO INCLUDED), it was amazing. Scott outdid himself with the quality of breakfast and service. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will be going back. T

The best. THE BEST!…read more Love Beechwood Manor! Stayed here a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend when I found a special online for 2 nights plus one one hour free in-room massage, gift certificate to a restaurant in downtown Saugatuck, and of course the two complimentary brekkies (being that it's a B&B, of course) for $388. Such a steal! The house itself is lovely. Built in the 1870s and renovated a bit but still keeping that Victorian charm. A comfy downstairs sitting area, and cozy dining room and another kitchenette area with a fridge (stocked with complimentary sodas and water), water pot for tea, hot chocolate, etc, and coffee. Oh yay! We stayed in Enid, the largest of the rooms. Very spacious with a sitting area of two chairs and a table, a couple of nightstands, a chest of drawers, a queen sized bed (very comfy and cozy), a fireplace, a small cable tv and dvd player, and cd/radio. It was actually really nice to unplug a bit so we didn't really watch any tv but it was there if you need it. Instead we mostly just lounged around listening to classical music on the radio and Prairie Home Companion. Fit the feel of the room nicely! The adjoining bathroom is a good size too with a lovely and deep clawfoot bathtub (that I definitely took a soak in. AHHH so nice!) and a separate shower. Complimentary bathrobes added to the cozy feeling and the windows had a lovely view for just perching and looking outside. Add that to the most amazing massage ever (seriously, one of the best I've ever had and I'm hard to please) and I walked out of there feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The hosts/owners, Sal and Gregg are just lovely. Really friendly and chatty, I felt like an honored guest. And they are no slouches in the kitchen, either! Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS. The first day I had the eggs benedict (although the smell of the waffles sure were intoxicating!) and the next morning I had the sweet potato pancakes which I had to force myself to stop eating because they were so tasty but oh so filling! The grounds are lovely and I can't wait to come back in warmer weather for a sit on the porch looking at the trees and Kalamazoo river peaking through (while their super friendly kitty Oscar rubs against your ankles--but don't worry cat allergy folks, kitty does not come into the guest quarters. We only saw him chillin' outside). If you've never been to a B&B I highly recommend starting with Beechwood Manor. Although it's likely any others you visit may not live up!

From the moment I was researching and communicating with Jenn the innkeeper, until the moment we checked in and met Steve and Jimmy, we felt comfortable and welcomed and so happy with our choice. The house has been transformed into eight separate bedrooms with their own private bath, and each is well appointed with the most luxurious bedding and soft pillows and mattress. I loved the pillow so much that I ordered one to be shipped to my home! Steve and Jimmy greeted us with a glass of wine and a little history of the building and the area and gave restaurant recommendations and things to do. Each morning Jenn created a wonderful three course breakfast that kept me full all day until dinner. Waking up for the 930 spread was the highlight of each morning! Nothing was store-bought, nothing. She is a master baker and chef and takes pride in her presentation and selection of food. I have never stated at a B&B and was concerned that it would feel like sharing space with strangers, but that was not the case. The first night was a full house with all 8 rooms occupied and everyone was respectful of each other. Jenn and Steve were available as much as we wanted them to be, but gave us our space to do our own thing. I would highly recommend staying at Judson Heath and let Jimmy, Jenn and Steve show you around their cute, quaint and adorably perfect town.

Steve and Jenn were excellent hosts. They gave us restaurant recommendations and a brief history of the building (established in 1837!). Jenn cooked an amazing 3-course breakfast daily, and I devoured every bite. My favorites were the baked goods, like blueberry cake. We stayed in the Elton room on the top floor that had a lot of nice touches and character to it. It had a jacuzzi (although don't use it past 10pm to avoid disrupting the guests below)! The bed was comfortable, and the views overlooking the Japanese garden and two different streets were nice. You also use a vintage key to open and lock the room. The location is awesome, and everything is walkable from this inn. Keep in mind that there are about four car spots in the lot, but there is generally free street parking as well. One of the highlights at this inn is definitely Steve's and Jenn's Chihuahua dog named Jimmie! He is absolutely adorable and greeted us upon arrival as well as throughout our stay. During breakfast, he was sniffing the ground for dropped food from guests. It must have worked in the past because he knew when it was time to come out! I highly recommend staying here. We'll be back in the future!

We were slightly concerned when we decided to stay at the Valentine Lodge. We read several reviews…read morethat were not good at all. It's hard to say with anything regarding on-line reviews though because for every negative review you will undoubtedly find a couple positive reviews. After searching online for hotels and then B&Bs in the Saugatuck/Douglas area we were nearly scared off by the high costs of other chains and B&Bs. Then we found the Valentine Lodge. We almost couldn't believe the listed cost because of the comparables. We booked the room online and then called and spoke with the owner. From the start they were very nice people and assisted with our questions. If you are looking for the Ritz, Raddison or some other other high end chic hotel, this is not it! Go ahead stay at one of those and pay quadruple the cost for a room. If you are looking for a decent room, friendly staff and a place close to town this is a great bet for you. We arrived on a Friday afternoon to stay through Sunday and couldn't help be impressed by the size of the house. Think old world charm of a southern style mansion with a beautiful front porch on the first and second floor facing the street. The grounds were immense and well kept. We met the owner and she graciously explained their rooms, policies and assisted with the area. As we made our way up the grand staircase we were a bit awestruck buy the decor and size of the home. Yes there are a lot of paintings as she is an artist. I thought they were pretty and added to the charm of the place. We found our room on the third floor and got a bit settled in. My ONE complaint of the room was the hard bed. It didn't bother me a ton but my girlfriend wasn't thrilled. The bathroom was clean, the bedroom was clean and the decor was dated but fine. Again if you're going to pick a bed and breakfast apart for older decor you should probably be staying at a high end hotel. We enjoyed the free wifi and charm of the place. We were out late and had no problems getting in and heading to bed. The next morning we headed down for the breakfast. Everything was clean and well prepared. It looked like it may have been a family affair with everyone pitching in. The egg dish was not marked with it's ingredients, (as one reviewer lamented) I didn't care, it was delicious! There was fresh fruit, hash browns, an egg scramble, juice, water and appropriate condiments. They provide trays if you wish to eat outside on the front or back porch or even on the second floor enclosed porch. We opted for the second floor. Upon return to the kitchen area they were cleaning and making sure the guests were taken care of. From the moment we checked in until we left on Sunday the owner was friendly and helpful. It's obvious that her and some of her family live in the home because they are at your beck and call for all intensive purposes. We had a great experience at the Valentine Lodge bed and breakfast and would definitely suggest it to others. Again if B&B's aren't your thing and you expect high class amenities go to a high end place. We would definitely stay here again.

On walking up to the place, it looked very cozy, warm, and inviting. The couple who own the B&B are super nice, very helpful, and just adorable. We stayed in the Valentina Room, which is on the second floor, first door on the left. It was actually bigger than I expected and had a large king size bed. We were very comfortable there. The house itself is charming, and the walls are decorated with oil paintings done by one of the family members. There are two very large decks - one in front of the house on the ground floor and the other is a large screened in porch in the front of the house on the second floor. We used both during our stay using the main floor one to eat breakfast and the second floor one to relax, drink tea, and read books/magazines before bed. This B&B is located in Douglas, which is just a short five minute drive from downtown Saugatuck. I was glad to be a little out of town, as it was always peaceful and quiet at Valentine Lodge. There was free wi fi (we never used it), wine glasses, a corkscrew, a mini fridge, and a mini coffee pot in our room, on demand tea on the porch, and board games and books to use throughout the house. Oh, and the breakfasts were just delicious. On Sunday morning, there was toast, yogurt, three kinds of quiche, blueberry cake, fruit salad, and of course coffee and orange juice. On Monday morning, we were the only guests at the B&B and we were asked what time we wanted breakfast and were told she would make it for us whenever we wanted. That breakfast was lovely too and consisted of bagels, toast, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, yogurt, coffee, and orange juice. It was ready the moment we walked down the stairs. I highly recommend this wonderful B&B. It would be a shame to miss it.

My sister and her husband were there years before and had a nice experience. We drove from West Bloomfield which was a two hour straight shot. The parking was easily accessible. The inn is quaint and cozy. We felt welcomed, but there are a few things that Jan, the innkeeper, should note. The interior is very nice, but needs better upkeeping. The room that we were in seemingly had a quick slight over easy "hit or miss" cleaning. The furniture had not been dusted and there were many dust bunnies in the corners of the room. The shower took 10 minutes to get warm. I had taken one at night. The bathroom rug needs to be replaced. It was more of a loose old carpeted rug which can harbor bacteria and didn't seem to have been washed. A better recommendation will be the foam sponge Clara Clark type bathroom mat to use. The toiletries need to be replaced every time new guests arrive if they have been used. There were two bottles of shampoo that were half used remaining there. We didn't touch those. I do not drink tap water and hotels always have at least two complimentary bottles of water. I asked Jan if she had any bottled water and she did not. I had to resort to getting regular water from her refrigerator dispenser. Even a couple of the small 4-6 ounces of bottled water in the guest room would have sufficed. We sat on the back porch prior to breakfast which was a very opened and relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast we had that Monday morning was somewhat continental. The fruit was farm fresh, the coffee and juices were delicious, and her pastry of an apple French toast roll was very nice, but there was no protein. We were looking forward to scrambled eggs to say the least. Protein should be included in the breakfasts. During mid afternoon we saw baggies with chopped up pieces of granola inside. I took a bag in the evening and had to throw the granola away because it was stale. The inn is conveniently located in town. Just walk a few steps and you're welcome to visit most of the shops. A few were closed on both Sunday and Monday. The waterfront is in walking proximity as well. The boat ride adventure was very nice and the restaurants' cuisines were scrumptious. We managed to go to the Douglas Beach, but could not partake in the water because it was too cold, but it was very beautiful. I only saw one picture for the review prior to my input. I have attached a few additional pics. I noticed some people commented about the folks working at The Inn of Saugatuck with emphasis on the innkeeper. Jan was cordial, nice, slightly standoffish, but we figured for some reason that was her personality. She was not rude whatsoever. All in all the visit was very nice, but for the recommended reasons above I am giving four out of five stars. I would not hesitate to visit The Inn of Saugatuck again.
