Great auto shop in MetroWest. I've compared their prices to other shops and they are right in line or less than other options in the area. More importantly, they are super friendly and their communication is top notch. They were performing an oil change for me and diagnosing a sound I was hearing that turned out to be a bad ball joint. They researched my make and model and found a known defect, which was covered under my car's powertrain warranty. I was able to have the dealership perform the fix at no cost to me. My son had been taking his vehicles to Rosie's for about 6 years. They are honest, ethical, and reasonable. Customer service is great.

I went in to this automotive shop to ask if they could install a cargo liner for the interior of my jeep. It's a laser cut vinyl liner specifically made to fit. It's lined with a double stick adhesive. The man who owns this shop, had me throw out my old liner because he said he would install the new one. After making me wait 45 minutes, he told me he couldn't do it because the adhesive doesn't work. After going home and doing it myself, it was obvious the adhesive didn't work, he never peeled the sticker off the back of it and was trying to stick it on, despite that. It's literally laser cut so that every dimension and button in the jeep is accounted for. He managed to fit the seat, cover over, but stretched it out so badly, because he stuffed the armrest in it, despite it not lining up to the switch, to drop the seat, and or the metal in the back of the seat to allow for tiedowns. He told me the company that sold me the cargo liner was useless, I used the wrong adhesive, and wanted to use a super glue along the edge of the liner both on the plastic and cloth of the interior of my $80,000 jeep. Which would have for sure either dropped the sale value by 20%, or I would've had to replace every single thing that he had applied the glue to. not only was she working on it, but he had one of his head mechanics working on it as well. In between the two of them they couldn't figure out how to get the cargo liner on, let alone that you have to peel the clear plastic off the double-sided tape to expose the adhesive. He wanted me to come back the following Wednesday to drop my car off for a minimum of two hours of which she was going to charge me an hourly labor rate of $150 an hour, although one of those hours was just "waiting for the glue to set." my problem isn't the Mickey Mouse operation, or the fact that the self proclaimed automotive experts couldn't figure out some thing an elementary school child could, my problem isn't even the fact that they were going to have me come back, despite lacking the capability to problem, solve in any sort of fashion, or even the fact that, he was willing to ruin the interior of my jeep. My problem is that these people work on cars, and based on the fact that they couldn't do what they should've been able to do in five minutes, makes me think that the work they do on cars is making those cars a danger to the streets in which there driven on, and the drivers driving on those streets. After two appointments my car still has issues they said they fixed. They also broke my back tail light when trying to fix my bumper and never told me. In addition my low tire pressure light regularly comes on for no reason, which they said they fixed. Summary: It appears that Rose's lacks the mechanical expertise to correctly perform basic car maintenance and is willing to engage in unethical business practices. In my case, they likely used incorrect torque settings when installing wheels and subsequently warped the front brake rotors. When asked to remedy the mistake, they charged me labor for the repair and warrantied the brake rotors with the manufacturer, altogether avoiding responsibility for the mistake. Details: We have been using Rose's for the routine maintenance of our two cars for over a year. Rose's installed new front brake rotors in DEC19. This spring as usual, Rose's swapped our snow tires out for our summer tires. Shortly thereafter, the steering wheel started to shake when braking...a tell-tale sign of warped front brake rotors. We took the car into Rose's for an oil change and requested that they fix the issue. Sure enough, the problem was diagnosed as warped front rotors and they replaced them. They warrantied the rotors, even though evidence would suggest that it was not a defective product (no shaking while braking following brake install). Then, unknown to me, they charged us for the labor to do the brake rotor replacement. When they called to inform me the service was complete, they claimed that they didn't have the total cost. I naively trusted them and provided my credit card. Only later did I review my bill and uncover what they charged me for. When I called to see if there had been some sort of a mistake, they transferred me three times, told me they were busy, and eventually refused to refund me any portion of the labor required to fix their mistake. This suggests that the charge was intentional and unscrupulous. Big disappointment here b/c Rose's is so close and I like to support local businesses. Fortunately, there are plenty of other options out there. Save yourself from wasted time and hassle and steer clear of Rose's in favor of a more competent and ethical establishment. read more

Unparalleled service. No matter what is wrong with my vehicle, I always get honest answers about what my car needs. If there are options, they always are sure to list them as opposed to only share the option that would be the most expensive. I have had a Honda Pilot and 2 Volkswagen's worked on by Mike, Ed, and Rick and I will continue to bring my car back each and every time. They always listen to my explanation of what I think might be wrong (even if it is uninformed and off-base) and explain to me exactly what is actually happening in a way I can understand so I can look out for potential issues in the future. I am always pleasantly surprised by how quickly my car is fixed and returned to me. On top of all of this - the people that work there couldn't be nicer. They always say hello with a big smile and ask about family - always remembering my name and giving me calls to keep me updated on the progress of the work they're doing. Not only have these guys been great with our cars but when my moped had problems they were happy to work on that as well. I've acutally never had a problem with these guys. My family has been coming here for years. If you need to be picked up or dropped off these guys will do it. Adds a nice little touch. However my only complaint is i think these guys are a little bit overpriced. Although it is Sherborn and they can get away with it, but for people like me who don't make enough should cut down a little bit on price. Overall i do trust these guys with my car. Awesome, awesome, AWESOME! I had my fist experience there a couple days ago and I am floored at their customer service and the work they did on my car. They don't just look at one thing and fix it, they look at everything and let you know, with perfect explanation what your car needs or might need. They did not pressure me at all and they were very timely. My car was dropped the night before via tow truck and they fixed everything in one day and the price was as I expected. After living in North Carolina, Florida and now back this area, this is the best place, by FAR. Straight forward and they actually care about their customers. Unfortunately when my car broke down I was in a rush to have it fixed and this place could get me in quickly. My exhaust had dropped from my subaru and they told me the only way to fix it it would cost over $700. when I went to pick up the car I asked if there could have been a cheaper way to fix the problem. the man behind the counter blatantly said yes, there probably was a cheaper way. when I spoke to the owner about the dishonesty he could not have been more nasty and rude. he did not apologize at all and dared me to sue him because he "didn't owe me anything." They also said I needed a wheel bearing and that would be between 800 and 1000. I took my car to anchor subaru and they were fantastic! they went over everything before they did the work and the bearing cost me right around 600. Take your business to a bigger dealership where they care about honesty and reputation. don't make the same mistake I did! read more

Up front I'll say Roses' Automotive does good work. However, if you are as I am one who does his own work and comes there for inspections, any problem resolution may well depend upon how you are viewed as a customer. When at my last inspection, my car was damaged and made undriveable once wires were pulled to shut it off, how the owner views any responsibility for his inspection tech forcing the key & cylinder past its final position when it didn't start (the tech acknowledged seeing the button after it wouldn't start), depends on, as he told me, "If you were a regular customer...but I only see you for inspections." This car has been inspected by them for years. But to them it was my fault for not reminding them about the start-button. Well perhaps. This didn't occur to me to do for the very reason above. But then, it also wouldn't occur to me to force something mechanical like a key & cylinder before I stopped to ask questions. During a phone conversation with the owner, himself a Master Tech, I asked him about this twice, he wouldn't address it either time. Repeated derogatory comments from a service writer who grew angry when he learned I was asking to have the repair component, not any labor, repaid was also not a plus. Lesson learned. read more

They have saved me literally hundreds of dollars - on one occasion my car was being serviced at the dealership. The price the dealer quoted me seemed high. I called Roses, knowing I would get a straight answer. They were able to do the exact same work for HALF the price. In short--a place of unfathomable evil. In long--myself and three other people in my extended family / network brought cars here and had them miss a problem that was later diagnosed by someone else. They even blew my oil change by leaving the oil pan cap off and then reluctantly replaced the lost oil when I came back and pointed out the error. What's galling about this place is their MO--they have clean-cut, pleasant guys (always with freshly starched shirts) up front to talk to you about your car, and then the actual work seems to be done by inexperienced 15 year olds. (To the extent that anyone is left who has positive things to say about them, I think it's because starched shirts carry a lot of weight with a certain class of Sherborn residents.) read more

When my car broke down 8 years ago in Sherborn with a broken clutch, Rose's fixed it for a very reasonable amount. Then we moved to Medfield and after a few disappointments at other places in the area, I remembered Rose's. I now have my 3 cars maintained here and have not had a single negative experience in 5 years. Like someone else said, they are not perfect, and there have been mistakes, but they go out of their way to right any wrongs and I completely trust that they do only work that is needed at a fair price. I bought my Altima in for a rattle, and while the car was in the shop they did a free winter check. They found that the battery looked like it was going even though it was just two years old. Now, they could have said we can replace it since they had it in stock. Mike suggested that I should go back to where i got it since it was under warranty. Sure enough NTB pro rated my purchase and I got the new battery for less than half my purchase price. Rose's is my shop going forward. I have no idea where those with negative opinion's of Roses get them. I know tons of people in town who love and live by Roses. They are nice, helpful, flexible and always willing to do what is right. By way of example, as well as some newer cars, I have had some old ones in my day and they were always willing to work with me to avoid investing in repairs that really weren't worth it on an old vehicle. They always gave me the option and then told me whether it was worth it. Beyond that, I have bought two cars through Roses and both have been flawless. I would recommend Roses without a single reservation. They are the kind of automotive partner one thinks don't exist any more. Real people who actually care. As someone who has not worn a starched shirt in Sherborn, I just wanted to say Rose's do a great job and I am not related. I have been the pride owner of 10 cars that Ed, Rick, Mike and the staff have taken care of in the last 10 years, with oil changes, radiators replaced, Macpherson Struts,, timing belts, water pumps and tires. They are not perfect but they do an excellent job at an fair price. They also stand behind their work. Like the other person with a dent wrote, I was told I needed a new 3 part or 4 part Exhaust System for an Audi, it would of been over $3,000. Ed suggested we do one step at a time and replace was what needed to be replaced and tightened up at the rest. The bill was less than 70% that the original quote. I never had any more problems with that car's exhaust system. That is worth an excellent review and it is only one of many examples. T read more

Excellent experience here every time I go, have decided not to go to the dealer for service anymore in order to get reliable service and save money. A couple of years ago I knew something was wrong with a weird noise coming from under the steering column - after going to the dealership and being told "all clear, no problem ' Rose's detected on my Toyota minivan the problem that the dealership overlooked, then they fixed it - I would recommend them to anyone. I also had a dent in my rear panel, thought it would cost the deductible plus, probably close to $1,000 based on experience. Ever since I was a toddler, my parents came to Rose's, and when I grew older and began to drive, I started going there, too. I've been all over the country and never encountered another auto shop this good. Their work is strong and always holds up, and their customer service is the best. A lot of auto shops will try to use their knowledge of cars to rip you off, but at Rose's they prioritize making sure you understand what's happening with your car and are able to make educated decisions. Rose's uses their knowledge to help you save money and do what's best for your car.
