Came here for a quick breaky on the last morning of our trip in Alaska. We were mainly exploring Denali so didn't get to try this place until we were about to head back to Fairbanks to fly back home. We decided to get the sourdough cinnamon roll and a side of hash browns. They served the hashbrowns with homemade sauce (almost like salsa). Hashbrowns were pretty good, very flakey but went well with the sauce and a drizzle of ketchup! But the cinnamon roll stole the show.. it is huge and covered in thick frosting. Very fluffy and warm, a good start to our morning on the road. Service was great, food came out fast. Would come back here again if I ever come back to town. We ate breakfast here before our ATV adventure. This is literally the only place in town that serves breakfast. We arrived around 8:10 and finished eating about 9:20. It took awhile for food. I ordered American breakfast of 2 eggs, hashbrowns and sourdough toast. 2 people at our table had the pancakes. 1 regular and one super sized. She's awesome and she brought me a super sized pancake. They advertise that it hangs 2" over the plate. I doubted it like an idiot! See photo. The staff is friendly and food came out relatively quick. The portions were huge and reasonably priced for the area. My omelet was super watery for some reason. The omelet is folded with cheese in the center which was a bit overwhelming for me. Their sourdough bread taste like white toast to me. Their dishes don't really stand out for me but not a bad place to stop by if you're doing activities in Healy as Denali has limited restaurant choices so they are busy during summer season. read more

The family was visiting from Texas so we had to stop here a few times throughout our stay in Healy. The service was absolutely wonderful, regardless of the big (sometimes 28 people) parties coming in all the time. The ladies did an excellent job and the food was delicious!! The homemade salsa is to die for and definitely a selling point. Food was a large serving, and well worth the price. And the homemade sourdough was delicious!! Had the good fortune of coming across this little gem while visiting Denali in late July. The weather was nice so we sat outside. The servers and staff were cheerful and gracious (shout out to Selena - hope I got that right). Now for the important part. The food was delicious! I had French toast, a couple of fried eggs cooked perfectly, and good local sausage. My wife had scrambled eggs, bacon, and sourdough toast. Seems like a routine breakfast but MAN OH MAN was it good. I like French toast, and theirs was top 3. Ever. We were at Denali three days, and my only disappointment was that they were closed Sunday and Monday. When we go back, I seriously will take that into account when planning. Even if you're staying in the congested part of Healy, Rose's is well worth the scenic drive down Park Highway. read more

You probably would not see this place from the road and think "oh that looks like a good place to eat!"....but it IS! We have been for breakfast and lunch. They were both great. It kind of reminds me of the "restaurants" in some of the cities like Bethel, Barrow, and Kotzebue if you've been out there. The waitress was lovely and gave me extra bacon because she knew I loved it. I had the Club on homemade sourdough with bacon and it was delish! Sweet potato fries were yummy too. We found Rose's Cafe based on other Yelp reviews and stopped in one morning before a hike. This place serves a very basic American breakfast (think eggs and meat) but we were surprised by the huge portions when we got our food. All breakfast options are served with potatoes and toast, or one pancake, or two slices of french toast. We all chose to go with the pancake and each were bigger than my head! There are the too many places open after dinner in Alaska so it's great to find a place that can do a solid breakfast. Yeah, we're with the other reviewers befuddled by the high marks here. First, definitely no lack of effort here. Family run, everyone hustled, and I think they care. It's just low end on the diner spectrum. J and I came in here a bit before 630 on a Sunday, actually grateful they were open. But, they were hopping. Walk in, nobody greeted us, dining room stared, the two servers were busy, and we seated ourselves up front at the counter. And we were ignored. Finally after a few minutes the male server got us some waters (we had grabbed our own menus) and said welcome. Probably close to ten minutes later and when we were contemplating ditching, the female server, who was very friendly, took our order. We were sitting 3 feet from the soda fountain and it took minutes to get our drinks. The cups of ice sat poised under their selections... why not just make the drink. You got the ice in the cup! Go the rest of the way! Food took awhile but to their credit, the kitchen was slammed with only two cooks. Food was mediocre. I got a BLT. It was white bread, heavy mayo (No complaint), yummy bacon, almost nonexistent tomato and the white core of lettuce. I chose the potato salad side. It appeared house made, which I appreciate but it was bland. J got chicken fried steak sandwich on a bun. It's a battered, fried hamburger, essentially. And his onion rings were a huge portion but sadly soggy. They need to turn up the heat on their grease. Also.... dunno what's in the open mason jars in the cold case to the right of the counter, but the melting ice from the top of the case, drips right into the contents of the jars, which they serve.
