Besides walking up a STEEP hill, this place was fantastic after a 12 hour day adventuring in Denali! We ordered chips and queso and 3 tacos. The chips were very tasty and queso hit the spot we needed it to but we did add more cilantro off the salsa bar. We liked the halibut and rock fish tacos, however the carnitas was not good at all. And all the tacos were presented flat with sauce running all over the plate. Ambiance inside was very cute! And they had an interesting variety of drinks. Loved the indoor and outdoor seating options.

I was really craving some Mexican food during my extended Alaskan vacation and this was the perfect fix!! The place was a little hard to find, but look for the signs across the highway from the Denali Princess Lodge. You'll find the short hiking path up to the restaurant, but I believe you can call and request a car to drive you up the mountain if you don't want to walk. The view from the patio was stunning! I got the Snowdrift Margarita and it was AMAZING. 10/10. One of the best drinks I've ever had. The food was slightly less amazing, but still good! We started with chips and queso, and unfortunately the queso came out slightly cold. The tacos were fine; a little expensive for being meh in my option. I liked that they had a salsa bar, there was a variety of options and personally I loved the mango habanero salsa (honestly more sweet than spicy!). As this was like the only Mexican food for miles and miles, I would still go again if I find myself back in Denali. Overall, I'd give the experience a 3.5/5, rounded up to 4 for Yelp.

Tasty tacos with many filling options, along with appetizer and drink options. Prices reflect being in a tourist town and having to ship in their avocados etc. Halibut gosh and chips taco was interesting but a little heavy on the mayo. We enjoyed the pineapple octopus tacos, chicken, elk, and black rock fish.

Easily the most unique restaurant in the area. Their handmade tortillas, the distinctly awesome chew you get from this, puts them a step above typical Mexican restaurants in the Bay area or southern California that we're accustomed to. Had the octopus taco. Octopus was tender, smoky, plentiful and SPICY. The tortilla had a perfect thickness and chew that easily satiated the early evening hunger after just a single taco. The bartender, Cabe, did an incredible job tailoring drinks to patrons - finding surprising swap ins for drinks that typically take whiskeys and vodkas for mescals, tequilas, etc. Grab a seat at the bar and watch him work his magic - super entertaining.

The view is gorgeous! Overlooks the Princess Lodge.

Our tacos all had great flavors. I had the haddock and fries, with a tangy slaw and the chicken with red cabby, queso and a spicy sauce. My husband had the elk and rockfish well flavored and everything complimented the fish. Friendly staff, cold beer, great outdoor deck with amazing views of the mountains! Worth the uphill climb from Park highway

Those are the size of the takos .. huge! Frozen margaritas are awesome. Don't drive after..

Just went on a trip out of Anchorage and didn't see it before. Am absolutely must!!! Drinks and food are the best value in 100 miles!! Cabe the bartender was off the chart awesome

Such a wonderful gem tucked away on the edge of the Denali National Park. It's a steep climb up, but they have a shuttle that will pick you up if you want. Just call. The food is a wonderful fusion of Mexican flavors and Alaskan ingredients. The Queso Fundido with Alaskan Yak Chorizo is a glorious combination of spices, cheese, and yak. It's a must try appetizer! The Beef Birria Quesadilla is scrumptious with just the right amount of cilantro and pickled onions on the side. Each of the other tacos are simply on point. The full service bar has a nice selection of canned/bottled and draft beers, as well as a great selection of spirits. During our meal, we were able to watch the train across the valley, view the spectacular mountains, and enjoy the Alaskan countryside. If I ever make it back to Denali, I will make a point to climb the hill for Taco Tuesday! Thank you, Juan and Selko!

Although it was a cold and wet Alaskan night, inside was warm and comfy. We were seating pretty immediately even though it was packed, and our friend (who so graciously drove us here) recommended we try their Yak Burger. Usually I let my camera eat first, but the burger smelled so good, I ended up devouring it before I could even take a picture. One of the best burgers I've had in my life. The beers too were delicious. There's something for everyone here from light lagers to heavy stouts and even fruity ciders. You can't go wrong. Highly recommend stopping by 49th State Brewing.

After 15 minutes of sitting with no service we moved to the bar. Strike 1. We ordered dinner at the bar. Diane ordered Alaskan Salmon and got Cod. Strike 2. They brought her Salmon and it was raw. The manager came by to apologize and even said, "we don't serve sushi here'" Strike 3. They brought her Salmon and again and as you can imagine, it was overcooked and dry. That went back and the manager once again apologized and said' "I need to teach these guys how to cook salmon." Strike 4. Diane had a bowl of soup but by then the entire dinner experience was trashed after a great day of hiking in Denali.

The first day I got the salmon chowder (highly recommend) with a caesar side salad. I also got the turkey pot pie which had such a buttery, flakey crust. The sauce of the pot pie is heavy on black pepper but I didn't mind. The next morning I got an oat milk latte and a piece of strawberry rhubarb coffee cake which they heated up for me which was a nice touch and a good start to a day of hiking. The second night we went here for dinner even though we weren't staying here, and I got the meatloaf, chili, and brussel sprouts. All of the food was delicious, the meatloaf was a bit dry but the whipped potatoes were incredible. The brussel sprouts were also nice and crispy and delicious with goat cheese and bacon. Definitely recommend!

EXCELLENT FOOD: Terrible service:…read more I just want to start by saying the food was excellent. The kitchen absolutely did its job. The service, however, was terrible enough to have to make a review. Our server, Kat, acted like our table was an inconvenience from the moment we sat down. My sister was dining with her 1-year-old child, and when we asked for a high chair, Kat rolled her eyes, grabbed one, and dropped it off on the opposite side of the table from where the baby was actually sitting. No offer to help, no kindness, no basic courtesy. The attitude only got worse from there. Every time we needed something, we were met with eye rolls, annoyance, and the feeling that we were bothering her simply for asking her to do her job. We even noticed the same behavior toward other tables, so it clearly wasn't a one-time misunderstanding. When I ordered an iced latte, I asked what syrup options were available because there were no drink menus at our table. Instead of answering a completely reasonable question, Kat acted irritated that I dared to ask. Customers shouldn't be expected to magically know what you offer. I understand that everyone has bad days, but if you dislike interacting with guests this much, hospitality may not be the right industry for you. No customer should be made to feel unwelcome for asking for a high chair, ordering a drink, or requesting basic service. It's incredibly disappointing because the food was honestly amazing. But amazing food doesn't excuse rude service. There are too many restaurants serving great meals to spend my money somewhere I'm treated like an inconvenience. Good food gets people through the door once. Great hospitality is what keeps them coming back.
