Rose's has been on my list for many many years. I happened to snag a reservation and we were also able to sit at the chefs table. First of all, service here is top notch. Plates cleared, drinks full, and anything else we could need was attended to promptly. The ambience is very chill yet upscale. You can wear jeans here or a nice dress. The food was incredible! The chef at P&P even brought us a special gnocchi and truffle dish which was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Some top dishes were the bread starter, Bloomin' green tomato, Raw "bbq" beef, tteokbokki pomodoro, and fried bread pudding. Ooo and that Strawberry Jam drink was delicious. Given the chance I'd certainly dine here again and highly recommend that you do.

Whoa! Dining at this Michelin‑starred restaurant felt like stepping into a world where precision, creativity, and hospitality are treated as an art form. From the moment I arrived, the staff struck the perfect balance between warmth and professionalism, guiding the experience without ever overshadowing it. We met so many new faces with each presentation of each masterpiece. Reservations are hard to come by, so when my bestie reserved weeks in advance the only table available was bar seating! So bar seating it was! (It actually was not bad!) Each course was a thoughtful composition, visually striking, technically flawless, and layered with flavors that unfolded gradually rather than shouting for attention. The chef's commitment to seasonality was unmistakable; ingredients tasted as though they'd been chosen at their absolute peak. One standout dish combined unexpected elements in a way that felt both daring and harmonious, a reminder of why Michelin recognition is earned, not given. We will get into that later! The pacing of the meal was impeccable, allowing time to savor each plate while maintaining a sense of anticipation. Speciality drinks were recommend and elevated the experience. The ambiance was understated yet elegant, creating a calm backdrop that let the food take center stage. Every detail, from the lighting to the atmosphere felt intentional. Overall, this restaurant delivers more than a meal; it offers a curated journey. It's the kind of dining experience that lingers in your memory long after the final course, and one that fully justifies its Michelin star. Furthermore, for those that think small portions cannot fill you, WRONG! I was so stuffed and didn't eat all the pastas. Price: PreFixe menu $128 a person An added fee for compensation for the employees. 3.75% With drinks (several) this bday meal was well over $400! Not cheap but sooooo worth it! Thanks to my bestie for the best meal this bday! Before we get into the dishes, let me just say this: Most women don't like a man who has too many female friends (ew) they want someone exclusive, someone not for everyone. But this restaurant? It is for everyone, and somehow still makes you feel like the experience was crafted just for you. That's its magic. Let's get into it! Rose's bread service pull‑apart milk bread with miso honey butter. YUMMERS The pork and lychee salad the one & only! A must‑order!!!!! Super charred cabbage with champagne sauce & parmesan. Delicious! Pasta en papillote aromatic, delicate, and beautifully executed. YUM! Miso‑glazed sea bass , a tribute to chefs nobu & robuchon a fusion of two iconic dishes from French chef Joël Robuchon and Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa bold, refined, and unforgettable. To die for!

One of my favorite meals in DC. I wish I could eat here once a week. It's quirky, it's weird and it's always delicious. Their pork lychee salad was my favorite dish - it's odd in a good way.

What an experience! The staff was so friendly and you can tell they really enjoy working at this restaurant. Every dish was brought out by a very enthusiastic member of the staff and they all presented it with a background story. The food was truly very original in taste which was what I enjoyed the most. The lychee salad was nothing I ever had before, full of flavors, and a combination of textures/flavors that I never would've thought to put together (it was delicious nonetheless!). Also, one of my family members does eat pork so they brought out a lychee salad with impossible meat so he would not be be left out - I thought that was so thoughtful! The ambiance was very quaint. It felt very down home south/bed and breakfast vibes. The bread pudding was also amazing (forgot to get a pic bc we couldn't stop eating it!)

I've been to Rose's a few times when it first opened so when the menu was à la carte. Now there's a preset menu and LITERALLY everything was a hit! No notes. Service was excellent and the food was definitely a surprise and delight one thing after another. The restaurant didn't feel so loud that we couldn't hear each other at the table which was nice because we got to discuss the food with one another as it came out. Definitely enjoyed the surprise dishes sent out and we tried everything on the menu without feeling stuffed.

Words cannot describe how incredible this experience was. From the second we sat down to the very last bite, every moment was perfection. The food... oh my... such great creative combinations THAT WORK. The coconut sorbet with caviar absolutely floored me, it should not have worked nearly as well as it did. The pork and lychee salad was divine, easily the best salad I have ever had. Every single thing we ate was a home run, the menu is an absolute smash. Most importantly, the service was as good as service can get. No matter who our server was on a particular dish, every single person was so friendly and personable, having a conversation and really getting to know their diners (especially our main server Rob!). I cannot recommend this place enough, we will certainly be back when we return to DC. Highly recommend sitting at the chefs counter and watching the action!

I went to Rose's Luxury for my birthday and had an excellent time! One thing about roses is that you will never leave hungry. Rose's Luxury has a prix-fix 5 course menu that allows you to choose dishes either for the table or per person for each course. We started off with their bread service which was a truffle madeline which had a good balance between the umami of the truffle with the sweetness of the madeline dough. For our appetizers we got the pro and lychee salad and the asparagus with pineapple aioli. Both appetizers were excellent. The pork and lychee salad is one of Rose's Luxury's signature dishes for good reason. The pork pairs nicely with all the accompanying flavors like lychee, red onion, coconut milk and other garnishes. The asparagus with pineapple aioli was also really tasty. For pasta we got the colonne pompeii and the Tteokbokki with vodka sauce. These dishes had a sweeter profile. The Colonee Pompeii was made with Sweet Pea Cream with feta and mint. The feta helped balance out the sweetness of the cream based sauce and added a nice touch of saltiness. The Tteokbokki reminded me of the Korean version of the dish but elevated and was a nice addition to our meal. For our protein we ordered the fried pork which was a large pork cutlet that was battered, deep fried and topped with a honey mustard based sauce. I didn't eat too much of this at the restaurant because I was starting to get full but I enjoyed it when I had it for breakfast with a fried egg the next day. We also got the adult happy meal which is a wagyu cheeseburger and fries, topped with truffles and served over a cheese based sauce on a sizzling skillet. I loved the cheese sauce and our waitress was nice enough to pack up the leftovers to take home. For dessert we got the Tres Leches Cake which was made with coconut milk and added a nice twist to the classic recipe. Overall the service and food at Roses Luxury was great and I will definitely be back!

Such an amazing restaurant and experience! It's very cozy and lowkey inside, the staff is incredibly warm and inviting, and it feels very un-pretentious for Michelin restaurant. I recommend sitting at the bar and doing the Choose Your Own Adventure menu. It's a lot of food and really worth it for the price ($128 per person so a nice special occasion dinner but for sure a lot of food). I also loved doing the wine pairing! All we tried were awesome and really elevated the experience (it's an additional $75 I believe). Some of the food highlights were the Pork and Lychee Salad (incredible!!), the Tuna Tartare Avocado, Cacio e Pepe, Fried Chicken, and all of the desserts (Strawberry Mousse and Fried Bread Pudding). It's a really worth it experience for a nice dinner that feels warm and leaves you full and wanting to come back! Worth it for the money and a super cool experience.

Roses Luxury in Capitol Hill has been on my bucket list for months. I finally got to check it off for my birthday. The first word that comes to mind to describe the meal is: FUN. Styled as a "choose your own adventure", as a party of five we tried everything on the menu. Every time a dish came out, we pulled out our cameras to capture its whimsical yet ornate presentation. We began with cubes of soft Japanese milk bread with miso garlic butter. It breaks apart into wispy cloud-like strands In our first course, our favorite was the pork & lychee salad--tender umami pieces and bursts of juicy sweetness, cut by the sharpness of raw onion. The restaurant brought out complimentary plates of roasted cauliflower, as if they were a long time friend. Look, I LOVE cauliflower. My night was already made. Out of the pastas, Colonne Pompeii was the star of the show. Majestic spirals turned green by sweet pea and mint, flourished with feta and violet flowers. We couldn't resist the miso glazed cod on a bed of decadent potato puree inspired by Chefs Nobu and Robuchon. For dessert, get the mousse. Dig past a layer of sliced strawberries to reach soft, airy whipped cream. As it melts in your mouth, surprise fireworks will burst -- ah, pop rocks!

Writing this review a bit late...but this restaurant was my first Michelin experience and it definitely lives up to the hype. My cousin treated me out to this place for my birthday and the service was top notch! We got seated at the bar and they gave some extra dishes and desserts for my birthday! At the end of the meal, they even gave us a tote bag!! As for the food, everything was absolutely delicious. The lychee salad was something different but the sweet and savory definitely worked. My favorite dishes for this menu rotation was definitely the sweet pea pasta and the tuna tartare with avocado. Presentation of the meals and service was spot on. I can't wait to come back and take others to try out this place!

We had a lovely anniversary dinner at Rose's Luxury last night. Not only was the food luxurious, but so was the service! Even though it's a Michelin rated restaurant, it feels approachable and not stuffy at all. The menu is quirky and fun. I mean... they have an adult Happy Meal and "slightly ridiculously sized desserts." Love it. I really appreciated how much they accommodated our food preferences. They even wrote me a menu to show what was spicy and not. It was very helpful! They also started our dinner with a complimentary Prosecco. Now the food. Their truffled Madeline's were divine. Super crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. The truffles didn't overpower them at all. Wish I had 2 more! I didn't know what to expect with their lychee and pork salad. Honestly, it sounded weird to me - but we gave it a shot. The flavor of the sweet lychee with the salty pork, crunchy garlic and peanuts, and herbs all worked well together. I'm not sure I would order it again, but I'm glad I tried it! We enjoyed their whimsical tuna tartare that looks like an avocado. For pasta, we enjoyed their "the Bear" pasta but the Colonne Pompeii was a standout. The pea purée sauce was so creamy and the long spiral pasta was fun to eat. For entrees, we had to try their Nobu/Robuchon cod and the adult happy meal. The cod was a bit tough, but flavorful. The potatoes were insanely rich! Good for a bite or 2, but I don't think I could eat more than that. The burger was delicious! The Waygu was smashed nicely with melty American cheese. But, there was a topping that was a bit too sweet for us on top. The fries were crispy and salty - like fast food fries. For dessert - we didn't love the sticky toffee pudding. It was dense and the spicy sauce on the side was strange to us. But, overall it was a really interesting New American meal!!

Charming place with a truly unique vibe! Everything is in the best way - and incredibly delicious. Our whole group was impressed, and the caviar ice cream was absolutely amazing!! ;)

Have been dying to try Roses for probably the last decade and finally got to try it, but felt super let down by the food. It is honestly way too expensive for what it is and semi laughable that they have a Michelin star. We recently ate at Albi and in no world is this restaurant on the same level as that. This was $380 after tax and tip for two with a drink each and at most should be at the $250 price point. Service was excellent so no negatives on that. The food is fine, but lacks any oomph to take it over the hump to be great. Bread and butter; warm, but just in general fine. Tuna tartare in an avocado; what the heck, tuna fine I guess, but guac/avocado literally tastes like Sodexo out of a bag. The star pork and lychee salad; fine, but honestly tastes like any starter appetizer salad you could get at a half decent Thai restaurant. Pastas; fine. Roasted cauliflower; forgettable and nothing special. Miso cod; well cooked, but again nothing new or pushing boundaries. Yeah maybe I just don't get the appeal of this restaurant or its best days are behind it. I'd be less critical if it didn't have a Michelin star, but to rank it equivalent to Albi and Nakazawa is a crime. I don't recommend coming.

Hello! Is there an a la carte menu currently (have reservations for Feb 2025) or it is pre-fix only?

You can choose to be seated at a later time!

What is the average price per person (menu prices seem reasonable but everyone says $$$)? Thanks!

I went with 5ppl and we tasted almost everything on the menu and it was about $70 per person.

Are we allowed to actually order what we want now - I remember back when it was all hype n stuff in 2016, they made whatever they wanted for you without asking?

The menu changes a lot but there is a menu when you sit down and you can order what you want. My friend is gluten sensitive and they were able to modify the menu pretty much on the spot to accommodate her.

Does this place still have a line even before it opens?

Not always! I went on a Monday and there was no line. I was advised to go on a Monday and it worked out.

Did they change the rules for the bar stools (upstairs), I'm being told I need to give up my seat for people on a waiting list. I thought bar seats were first come first serve?

It is typical of Spanish flavors, heavily relying on high-end cured meats and cheeses, and classics such as croquetas. There is something very special that goes into tapas because its suppose to satisfy you based on good taste over quantity. Large shrimp in a generous skillet of olive oil and slow cooked garlic slices and a iberico mac and cheese are some examples of how they elevate classics we are familiar with. We really liked that they learned into garlic and spice. We found dried Aji Caballero in our meal, great attention to source country. They have a very robust and generous drinks menu. Loved watching others not dining alone and embracing that share quality of the menu design. Perhaps it is not the best tapas I had, I would have liked to see a balance with lighter citrus flavors but maybe that was an ordering issue. At some point, since the menu heavily leans towards rich and decadent, its better to plan around that. Our waitress was amazing, she explained the questions we had on the ingredients and was on it with the refills.

This restaurant has a dining room that is as beautiful and impressive as any in DC. The architecture of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (the Old Post Office Pavilion) is stunning. The crystal chandeliers shimmer, the furnishings are top notch, fancy even. The atmosphere could not be better. Likewise the food shines. Each dish outshone the one before. We started with the oxtail croquettes and they set the standard very high. The meat was luscious, luxurious even; the crust was perfectly crispy and crunchy. Then on to the she-crab soup. OMG it was to die for. The flavor was intense, like a crab bomb exploded in our mouths. We scraped the sides of the little bowls to get every drop. Our main dish was the beef tenderloin Rossini and this was easily among the best steaks I have ever had. Cutting the steak was easy because it was so tender. And the seared foie gras on top made it heavenly. So, to keep with my opening concept, the atmosphere of the dining room and the quality of the food were "the best of times." What was "the worst of times?" The service. It is hard to imagine food this good coming from a staff that is so unprofessional, uninspired, uninterested, unfocused. The staff - all of them - seemingly had no interest in providing top notch service. We waited to be approached. We waited for our drinks. We waited for our food; indeed, one of our courses never arrived. Never have I had such great food and such bad service all at the same time. Ronny was our waiter and, to be honest, he was not good. But everyone who we interacted with was bad so, I can only conclude, that this terrible service is what Jose Andres intended. And all of this at a meal that is VERY expensive. My spouse and I talked about the pricing. When you dine out, are you paying for the food only, or for the food and the service? The answer, of course, is that you are paying for both. So, while I do NOT mind paying a lot for a meal, I do want and expect that the food and the service will be somewhat equivalent to the price I have paid. At Bazaar Meat, that did not happen. Maybe the service lacked polish and professionalism because of the 20% tip that was automatically added onto the bill. They did not have to work hard for a tip since it was automatic. Sure, you could decrease the tip - it even said that at the bottom of the credit card slip. But would you ever do that? Not likely. So, that is my "A Tale of Two Cities" review of Bazaar Meat. Food and atmosphere, GREAT! Service, TERRIBLE! Do I recommend Bazaar Meat? No. Will I return? No.

The organizer had booked the brunch about a week in advance and had coordinated with the restaurant to pay a large group deposit. The reservation was for 1:30 PM, but our table was not ready until 2 PM. When we were finally seated, the table was only set for 20 people. We were in the upstairs room with another large group, so there was no space to really add two more chairs to our table. We had to crowd into the table to accommodate the last two people. Even though the brunch is bottomless with a menu to choose from, the servers decided to just bring random items from the brunch menu to the table. Honestly, some of the worst food I have ever seen. The vegetable vitamin salad looked like slop, as did the rice/salad dish, which I'm not even sure what it was called. We were also brought a trio of three dips as well as pita and cornbread. The dips were very bland, the cornbread was dry and flavorless. As I did not like any of the items that the servers selected, I begin requesting other salads/appetizers off of the menu. I requested the Greek/Mediterranean salad and the pickles, both were very underwhelming. As far as the brunch foods, the menu was literally all over the place. Even though this is a Balkan-inspired restaurant, there were items such as fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and shrimp and grits on the menu, which don't actually make sense in light of what Balkan cuisine is. The best thing I ate was grilled steak, which was on a platter with eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes. There were two Belgian dessert waffles as well which were underwhelming. The only decent thing about the entire experience is that our servers kept the mimosas flowing. Each person in our party paid $75 inclusive of tax and tip-- 100% NOT worth it.

Good start to the meal. The lamb kleftiko is the standout of the three. Slow-cooked until it falls apart easily, with the seasoning penetrating all the way through rather than sitting on the surface. It's a dish that rewards the time it takes to prepare -- nothing rushed about it. The kofte kebab holds its own too -- well-spiced, good char on the outside, moist inside, not dried out the way kofte can sometimes end up. Solid textural contrast against the kleftiko. Overall a strong meal across the board -- each dish distinct but all working within the same confident, well-executed style that Zaytinya is known for.

That made the experience feel even more special in hindsight. We walked in on a Monday night without reservations (clearly a theme for us!), not knowing they were needed. Thankfully, they were able to seat us in the bar area, which turned out to be a perfect spot for a relaxed dinner and a glass of wine. We ordered a mix to share: hummus, spanakopita, kofte kebab, and adana kebab. Everything was delicious, but the spanakopita really stood out. It was a bit unexpected--not layered like the traditional version, but more of a rolled presentation. Even so, the flavors were wonderful and elevated in a way that made it memorable. The only slight disappointment for me was the wine selection. The red wines leaned more dry than I typically prefer--I tend to go for something more fruit-forward--but it didn't take away from the overall experience. Dessert was the one miss. We were really hoping for baklava, which wasn't on the menu. Instead, we ordered the walnut delight. While it had all the right flavors, it didn't quite deliver the wow factor we were hoping for. That said, the food, atmosphere, and overall experience were still impressive. I was excited to learn that Zaytinya has locations beyond D.C., including closer to home in the Bay Area--so I'll definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend, and maybe make a reservation!

Our server was incredibly helpful and provided top-notch customer service that made the experience even better. Unfortunately, the hostess left a very different impression. The focus of this restaurant is on food and art. I saw a man painting when I walked in here and it was very detailed. It is a lively scene in here. Palette is a nice play on words for the art palette and palate for taste. They serve tapas (small plates) for a reasonable price. There is an all you can eat option in which your entire table has to order, or you can order a la carte. I ordered primarily off the happy hour menu which included the chicken slider, shrimp tacos, jerk chicken skewer, garlic wings and for dessert, I got churros. Most of the food here were extremely salty and did not agree with my palate. The shrimp tacos were the best thing I ate as the veggies gave the taco a refreshing taste. Not the most sanitary either as I found a piece of hair in my food. There is a parking garage nearby a block away.

Between the handmade pasta, creative cocktails, beautiful waterfront views, and welcoming staff, it's become one of our regular OpenTable reservations. At this point, we've tried just about everything on the menu, from the bomboloni and fluffy Morini pancakes at brunch to many of the pastas at dinner. If it's your first visit, don't skip the gnudi--they're pillowy ricotta dumplings that are absolutely worth ordering. The pappardelle and cappelletti are also favorites, while the gnocchi and tagliatelle are always a hit with kids. The espresso martini is a great way to kick off a relaxing weekend, and what keeps us coming back isn't just the food. We've gotten to know the chefs, managers, and several servers over the years, and they consistently make us feel welcome. It's the kind of restaurant that remembers its regulars and creates an experience that's just as enjoyable as the meal itself.
