Be careful when paying. Today we went with my father, and for a meal that cost $57, they tried to charge us a $74 tip. It may have been a mistake, I don't know, but in any case, check your bill very carefully when they charge you.

A flavors explosion!!! If you love garlic and spice like I do, make a reservation at Bosqueria and you will not be disappointed, we ordered a slew of appetizers, the kabobs were perfect you roasted, as were the shrimp basqued in butter and sizzling garlic, I think if it was proper etiquette I world have locked the cast iron skillet!. They ate satiated in walking distance in the city, lunch time was optimal, if you go dinner don't skip the reservation.

What a delightful evening! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere/vibe/energy was spot on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented! We opted for the jamón croquettes, anchovies (my personal absolute fave - the orange essence was delectable) , paella marisco - Delicious, and we even made room for dessert - GET THE TURRÓN- GET THE TURRÓN!!!! Heaven on a plate! I love Turrón as a rule, but I hate when it gets stuck in my teeth - as Turrón tends to do....this had All of the Flavor of a traditional Turrón, with a softer texture.... Our server told us it sells out most nights - so order it early! We will be back - we loved our evening at Boqueria!

Tapas restaurant. Came here for happy hour. The drinks in the happy hour didn't excite me but I did have the shishito margarita and that was good. Luckily I'm really there for the food and the croquette jamon were delicious- probably second best croquettes I've had in the DMV. The bacon wrapped dates aren't on the happy hour menu but a must for me and I did also enjoy the sandwich as well even though it was on the greasier side. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sat at the bar but the restaurant does have quite a bit of seating and it gives a very intimidate vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was pleasant.

I've been to Boqueria four or five times now, basically every time I'm in DC, and I tend to bring coworkers with me whether they asked or not. It's become one of my must-visit spots. I've mostly gone for dinner, but I recently tried their brunch and was genuinely impressed. I've spent time in Barcelona with my former partner's family, so I've had a small window into real Spanish cooking. Because of that, I tend to notice when a place feels authentic, and Boqueria gets it right every time. Dinner Favorites: Pintxos Morunos (Lamb) - my top pick. Tender and seasoned perfectly. Gambas al Ajillo - I have a shrimp allergy... and I still dip bread into the sauce. That should say everything. Brunch Favorites: Huevos Horneados - hearty, rich, and great for sharing. Torrija - One of the best brunch items I've had anywhere. Atmosphere & Service: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lively but not chaotic. Service has always been friendly and helpful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It can be a bit loud but still works well for date night or a group dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And for DC prices, the food is actually very reasonable. Overall: Consistent, flavorful, and one of the few places that reminds me of authentic Spanish-style tapas. Whether it's brunch or dinner, Boqueria is always worth the stop, I'm already planning for my next visit in the spring.

My 'go to' Spanish restaurant in the District. The food, drinks, and service make you want to come back. We tried the orange sangria this time and it was okay but I'm much more partial to the traditional red. The pick three charcuterie board was a perfect appetizer for the table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is classy without being pretentious and the service is prompt.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Haven't been here for a while and this time met some friends at the Freer Gallery for a movie and afterwards looked for a place for happy hour and this turned out to be one of very few restaurants in the vicinity that offers HH on a Sunday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the HH menu was not that extensive - most of the bites seem to be fried - the restaurant was quite busy and had a really fun vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at one of the high tables in the bar area and had a great time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely come back again for HH especially if we found ourselves downtown again on a Sunday.

I always love the food here. I've been for multiple team dinners, and my husband and I recently went when we had a staycation in the city. You can't go wrong with any of the food items. I recommend getting two- three plates per person so you can try a mix of things. I was not drinking, but my husband enjoying his drink.

I stopped by Boqueria in DC after a work dinner that sadly didn't include dessert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The modern Spanish vibe drew me in right away and the ambiance was mellow yet upscale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I grabbed a seat at the bar where the service was quick and attentive. I ordered the churros and an espresso martini and both were excellent. The flavors were spot on and made for a perfect late-night treat. I've heard great things about their brunch and definitely plan to come back for it the next time I'm in town.

I did not like the patatas... sauce was good but the potato itself had none of its own seasoning and was tough. Yes crispy but not pillowy inside. The octopus was delicious and super tender. The sauce the shrimp are swimming in was amazing with pieces of garlic and peppers swimming in oil. Sop it up with the bread that comes too. I heard great comments on the octopus. After having a full meal with cocktails, appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee (about $70 per person), I concluded that Atxondo will be a definite future destination for Happy Hour and light bites, but that my full meal dining dollars will be spent elsewhere. The Patatas Bravas (Fingerling Potatoes) were outstanding, with their two tasty sauces and rich, crispy flavor and texture. The Hibiscus Margarita with its salt and tajín rim was good enough to warrant a second one... but the Sangria was lackluster due to the complete absence of cut-up fresh fruit in my glass. The "Crispy Duck Breast" is no longer served whole, but sliced on a bed of sauteed kale... and, sadly, seemed to be only a shadow of its former self. The Lamb Meatballs suffered from being mushy (a coarser grind would have made a world of difference in the texture) and lacked that meaty exuberance one treasures in any kind of meatball. My serving of Basque Cheesecake was almost comically tiny (at $9 per serving, perhaps not so funny after all). But my cup of Americano came out of the espresso machine strapping strong and piping hot, with a gorgeous head of natural crema from the oil of the coffee beans. So I will definitely return for a future Happy Hour to devour the outstanding Patatas Bravas and sip the good Margaritas, and to try the bargain Manchego Burger and other Happy Hour bites. For serious dining, Atxondo falls short of the mark... but for drinks and bar food, Atxondo turns out to be a real neighborhood gem. .

The mini chorizo, with the accompanying chips absorbing the chorizo liquid were awesome and our group also loved the cremini mushrooms. I love a good paella and Atxondo's is a standout. really wonderfull flavored and plenty for our group of 5. It was a unique cherry and almond flavored drink while my friend went for a cucumber type drink. Both great. We shared 4 tapas which were surprisingly quite large and ended up being plenty for the both of us. We did patatas bravas, mushroom croquettes, fried manchego, and calamari. The tapas were good/average but nothing to rave about. Our bill came to about $120 which is probably about standard now but felt overpriced for what we got. They do a 20% service charge with 5% being operational and only 15% going to staff. Not my favorite...I dont mind a service charge but burying an operational charge into it made us confused on whether the expectation was to still tip or not. Worth a try overall. I hope they consider giving their servers the full 20% of the service charge. 5% for operations should really be baked into the prices or otherwise listed separately.

The Croquetas were so creamy and delicious with the garlic shrimp. The cream cheese on the toast set off the flavors of the carleized onions and whisky reduction pork. The coup de grâce was the Cheesecake desset. It was warm and a combo of airy and dense. The granny smith apples on the side were tart and pallet clensing. So good! We also received shirtbread cookies and a chocolate cookie thing that were delicious! The prices are on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. Great place for sharung and date night.

We got to the patio and we heard one of the waitresses kindly request that couples sit at the smaller tables. One couple ignored her, and I felt bad so we did. But then our dogs were in the way the entire time because the table was against the restaurant and there wasn't a lot of space for the waitstaff to walk by. To make matters worse, the next few groups were couples, and they sat at all the tables that we would have been much more comfortable at with our dogs- there was space to keep them out of the way. I was stressed the whole time. Then, we ordered wine and tapas. The wine was forgotten. In our waitresses defense she seemed very busy and the restaurant understaffed. For tapas we ordered croquetas, pan con tomato, fried artichokes, oysters, and patatas bravas. The croquetas were good but there was only two. The fried artichokes had zero flavor, and no sauce to add flavor. The oysters were good. The patatas bravas were fine, the potatoes were a bit dry. My favorite was the pan con tomato but it was nothing super special, I've had that at other restaurants. I wouldn't recommend heading here.
