Food poisoning and racist. Both my girlfriend and I can eat through a Mercado in Guanajuato, pozoles in Guerrero, and street tacos in Tijuana and pride ourselves on having bullet proof stomachs but we have never been sicker than after eating at Rosetta. My girlfriend being vegan did not consume any meat, cheese, or dairy and myself had completely different menu items that she did not consume yet despite ordering a variety of completely different plates from each other, an hour or two after eating we both had it coming out of both ends all night having to sleep on the bathroom floor and cancelling our tours for the next day. For a Michelin star restaurant with dinner being several hundreds of dollars, this is absolutely unacceptable. My theory is the hygiene of the people preparing the food must be extremely poor causing bacterial stomach infections for the both of us as we had chills, cold sweats, and running fevers. The reason we feel this establishment is racist is due to that we stopped by the day before and asked for a reservation the next day for the evening because it matches our itinerary and the hostesses said that it's first come first serve only in the evenings. We walked by the next day in the early afternoon and asked again they assured us that for the evening it's first come first serve. So we arrive that day around 6pm and they asked us for a reservation immediately which we said we were told that they don't do reservations which the lady confirmed was correct yet other Caucasian clients arrived alongside us saying they had a reservation and were seated right away. If there was no reservations available then they could have just said so. Mind you my girlfriend is African American/black and myself am a brown Mexican-born national and we were asked to wait over an hour to be seated meanwhile other customers of fairer complexion were continuously seated before us although they arrived much later. Once we were actually seated we were sat outside where cars were honking at each other constantly to where we could barely hear each other talk. I understand this is in the most gentrified area perhaps in all of Latin America but it was heartbreaking seeing my girlfriend be exposed to this type of inferior treatment vs white people in my own country. This place needs to be shut down. read more

Our favorite restaurant experience in CDMX! Both the food and the ambience were 5/5. Had a reservation for 1:30pm and it was a seamless experience. Got a decaf latte which was great, then got the cabbage pistachio tacos and tomatillo salad for apps. The house bread was really good too! The water vases have fennel, and it gives the water a really nice taste. I probably had 7-8 glasses. For our mains i did the pappardelle w chicken liver. It was soooo good. It made me feel amazing after lunch too, liver can do that! Probably w all the nutrients. Overall, would go back 100%. It's a great spot for both lunch and dinner. Hate to say this but being on the 50 best restaurant list, we had some high expectations. We've previously also dined at Quintonil and Pujol so could be why we were a little bit underwhelmed. We came on a Friday night and had the choice of sitting indoors or outdoors which was nice. We opted for the patio seating since it was less crowded. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, has a lot of greenery, and quite intimate. I can see it being a good spot for couples/date night. As for the food, we kind of just picked whatever sounded good to us. The white mole and beef short rib were probably the favorites of what we ordered. Albeit Rosetta has gotten a lot of praise, it fell short for me. The food seemed lackluster to me and lacked any association with Mexican culture. I understand that it is supposed to be a fusion of Mexican and Italian food but it seemed to miss the mark on both cuisine types for me. I tried two different types of tamales and they were both average at both and lacked flavor. The fish we ordered was good but at an incredibly small portion. The only thing that stood out to me was the mango dish and it's hard not to love mangos from Mexico. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone but everyone's experience is different. read more

This was the worst place we ate at in Mexico City. Not sure what all the hype is, but there are so many other good places to eat at in Mexico City. We started off with the bread and butter. It was pretty standard. It didn't stand out to me and they stopped putting ants in the butter. The menu changes seasonally but we started off with the tamale with mole sauce. The tamale was ok. The mole sauce was good. For our entrees, we got the pappardelle with chicken liver and sage. The chicken liver was basically chunks of it on top of the pappardelle so it had a very strong liver flavor which was very offputting. We also got a corn ravioli which was cooked in a mushroom broth and we were not fans of that at all. We ordered the pork with pink mole. The pork was cooked well but I wasn't a fan of the pink mole. It had a bitter aftertaste. The service was ok and the restaurant was cute, but the food fell very flat for us. There's so many other good places to eat at in Mexico City! read more

I haven't written a review ever but this place deserves to be called out because how did it even earn a Michelin star. The food was mediocre and I'm starting to think Michelin is just full of adults that like aesthetic pleasing food rather than good tasting food. First of all the scallops why are they chewy? Every scallop I've had has been soft and tender, it was like I was eating a piece of squid. Secondly, that white mole although it was not bad it does not pair well with colored carrots that just taste like carrots. Third, the corn tamale I'll give them this one this was the only thing actually edible here. Now lastly the lobster tagliolini, this was absolutely horrible. The most fancy name but it just came out to be just noodles and butter. The noodles were undercooked and the lobster I don't even think I'd call that lobster. Now for the worst part, the service. For a Michelin star restaurant I was expecting great service but not once were we checked up on and they didn't even ask how the food was. Our server took our order and we never saw him again. All we got was workers clearing our tables, asking if we're done, and just giving us weird looks over and over just to see if we had finished our food yet to move onto the next. I was so fed up I cancelled my last dish because I was not about to spend any more money for a place that has absolutely horrid food and service. Disgrace of a restaurant and yall need to fix up whatever is going on in there. That michelin star needs to be removed ASAP. read more

From the moment we walked in, she seemed irritated by our presence--offering a scowl instead of a greeting, snapping curt responses to simple questions, and generally acting like we were a burden. Her demeanor was cold, dismissive, and shockingly unprofessional, creating an uncomfortable tension that lingered through the rest of our evening. It's hard to enjoy a beautiful space and a great meal when you're treated so poorly at the door. Rosetta's reputation deserves better than this--management needs to rethink who they entrust as the first point of contact with their guests. This was one of my favorite meals on my recent solo trip to Mexico City. I went on a weekday and they kindly took me as a walk-in on the patio (1hr 30 min. time limit, perfect amount of time to enjoy, thank you to the hostess for being accommodating), was a real treat. Service was excellent, nice pace to food, sat on the covered patio on a rainy day which made it so fun to enjoy while on vacation. I had just spent all day visiting the pyramids and exhausted so really wanted a good meal and this absolutely delivered. I started with the rye sourdough bread with chicatana ant butter (really wanted to embrace the culture so I was all about trying new things) and it was so good. Dinner I got the sea bass in sea salt with herbs and samphire and it was such a beautiful dish and how they presented it was so elegant, the fish was cooked in what looked like an empanada and they pull the fish out of it, so cool to witness. The table next to me ordered it after seeing the production. It was so simple, fresh and tasted so good. The perfect meal after a long day. For dessert I didn't know what to get and my server Ivan who was great recommended the Mamey, pixtle and taxcalate and it was unlike any dessert I've ever had and so happy he recommended it because I've always been curious about Mamey and it was so tasty and beautiful at the same time. The restaurant is very pretty and the place has pedigree because they also are a part of Panderia Rosetta and Lardo, two other concepts to check out that will not disappoint. You gotta go! be sure to book ahead. Oh my! This is the best restaurant we have found on our eight day trip to Mexico. It was also the most expensive, but worth it. The setting was lovely inside with an open air roof. The service was extremely attentive without being intrusive. The food: we loved everything we had. This included cabbage tacos, tagliolini pasta with lobster, Stone crab, and a sautéed red snapper entrée. This was followed by an amazing dessert Hoja Santa chocolate. The Hoja Santa is a Mexican pepperleaf that is edible andtastes sweet. there was a huge crowd waiting outside to get in at 1 PM. We were a little worried at arrival because we had a 1 PM reservation but various webpages said they didn't open till 1:30 PM. I really quite enjoyed the Mexican leaning Italian cuisine, with some other global influences thrown in for good measure, at this uber-stylish and ultra-vibey spot in the epicenter of arguably too-cool Roma Norte, the hub of expat-Mexico City hipsterdom. As much as the astonishingly wide range of incredible authentic Mexican cuisines of all varieties should be the primary focus of one's culinary tours here, sometimes, especially for someone with as Irish a stomach tract as mine, needs a bit of a break from all the intense spices and flavor profiles. Much praise has been given to the signature dish of tagliatelle with a classic red sauce given a delightful Mexican twist by the infusion of the delectably spicy Chile de árbol, and it did not disappoint, and was the unanimous favorite of the numerous pastas our table sampled. Said pastas, while maybe a bit on the stiff side in terms of consistency, even to die hard Al Dente heads like myself (take into account our table was comprised completely of native New Yorkers so are standards for pasta are relatively sky high) it was more than made up for by the vibrant flavors on all of the sauces blanketing them, namely the savory duck ragu and delightfully pungent chicken liver sauce. The other contender for the favorite course of the night was the seemingly relatively straightforward Mexican appetizer of a delectable and delicate white corn tamale, topped with a white cream sauce that I guess gave a bit of Euro influence. It was closely matched in deliciousness by a perfectly prepared red snapper with chayote (which I found to be one of the most surprisingly delightful additions to a great many delicious entrees I sampled across the city) coriander and the ancient pre-hispanic delicacy known as Sekil Pak, basically a creamy pipita sauce. The most challenging dish, but certainly delicious in its most cerebral way, was also the most classic French leaning, a savory aspic gelatin app of Shrimp and Avocado, which might be a bit much to neophytes but would certainly please any foodie with a taste for the more esoteric. While I was very grateful that we were able to secure a lovely outdoor table while walking in a prime dinner time after a very stressful day of flight delays, I couldn't help but be jealous of diners who were lucky enough to dine inside the gorgeously and impeccably stylishly renovated interior of the classic and refined space, perfectly befitting its location in the literal heart of the upscale epicenter of the city's hippest hood. While I'm not sure if the place is quite worthy of it's ranking on the worlds 50 best list, I can surely recommend it to anyone in the area whose looking for a delightful break for the more standard Mexican fare with delicious food and beyond impeccable vibes. read more

I was very excited to try this restaurant as it is well renowned and has a Michelin star. We got reservations late at night, but when we arrived the restaurant was very busy and lovely. The service throughout the evening was definitely a highlight. Very attentive servers - it felt like they were almost watching you waiting until you needed something. I was unfortunately not impressed by the food. We started with bread and butter and the bread was cold so although the butter was creamy, it was hard to spread. Although butter with and sounds cool and we were excited to try it, I felt as though the ants took away from tasting actual like butter, and I did not like the flavor that it produced. Next, we had the endive salad, which was disappointing because the taste of vanilla extract took over my senses entirely so it was hard to enjoy. Next was the pasta which was cooked very well, but it had a filling that to me. Also taste like vanilla extract, which was very odd. Our favorite meal of the night was the pig. The wait here can be long, without a reservation, we had about a 1.5 hour wait but they can text you when it's ready and also there's a bar upstairs where you can get drinks while you wait. I love the historic architecture of the restaurant and the patio area is great for groups. We sat outside, ordered an array of things and bottles of wine. The scallops are DELISH, although I will say quite small. We loved the squid pasta and the beet risotto was one of my favorites. The sea bass came out in a steaming hot pocket that looked like huge ravioli! I almost wished they left the shell just to get a taste but it was probably more for show and not for flavor. TLDR: good food, intimate setting, great cocktails, quick service. Some of my favorite desserts in Mexico! Saw Rosetta on 50 best and thought we'd give it a try. Didn't really know what to order so we just picked things that sounded interesting to us. We really enjoyed the white mole and fermented carrots. I never had a white mole before and I don't know what it consisted of, but it was smooth, creamy, savory and paired nicely with acidic and sweet carrots. We also loved the suckling pig. The skin was super crispy and the meat was so incredibly tender. One of the better dishes we had while in Mexico (in terms of fine dining). While not bad in any sense, I think the least interesting dish was the red snapper. The chayote and cucumber salad I could a whole bowl of, but I didn't think the red snapper itself, even with the achiote, was too special. Also, if you've had the endive at Estela in NYC, then perhaps this endive will also not impress you as much. I did find the vanilla and pixtle really interesting. I wanted to try a lot of the desserts and the wait staff offered to bring half portions of what we wanted and told us they'd recommend the hoja Santa full size so we did that. Of all the dishes, the hoja santa dessert is what I'll leave remembering. There was a flattened and dehydrated hoja santa that was crystallized. Underneath it was a hoja santa ice cream and some kind of white cacao ganache or cream and cacao nibs. Everything was so well thought out - all the textures and temperatures and flavored balanced so well. It was every tables favorite dessert. We also really enjoyed the mamey. You can tell that the dish was an appreciation of mamey. Loved it. The pear and terragon was also good - clean, refreshing, but mostly like a palate cleanser to me. Service was more efficient than other restaurants we've been to - not sure if it was because our table was for 9:30 and they close at 11. I've noticed that at many of the fine dining establishments that I've been to, service would be a lot slower than I'm used to. Not here. Staff were super friendly and offered their suggestions as well. Overall, one of my favorite restaurants in Mexico City. The sauce was good but it was just like a corn tamale, nothing special. You could get something better on the street. Next we split the Tagliatelle con salchicha italiana y chile de árbol. A pasta with a basic red sauce -- I could easily make this at home! The best dish of the night was the Codornices con farro y duraznos (quail with farro and peaches). All of the staff welcomed us to our table upon arrival. They were very attentive during the entire meal. There are traditional dishes here as well as some dishes that are more adventurous. If you're looking for food that offers a new experience and is different from the norm, you can find that here. Don't sleep on Rosetta!! This meal was FANTASTIC. We started with the scallops which were light, tender, and paired so well with the baby corn which gave it the nutty earthy tones with the sweet scallops. Next was the tomato salad, with the fig balsamic dressing, the smaller tomatillos acting as green grapes with the bite and sweetness, then the eggplant and nopales giving it the more savory tones. For an entree, we had the Tagliatelle. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the sauce was flavorful, and the attention to detail on the vegetables in the sauce were notable, the spice was so subtle yet balanced the savory dish. For dessert we had the honey jelly with the brown butter ice cream, it was the perfect ending being light yet so flavorful. I would have never thought to have honey jelly as a dessert but it works! I wish I had ordered more but we had a long day of eating at other places in Mexico City. Definitely get the corn tamales. It's so creamy and flavorful literally melts in your mouth. I think this is the best one I have ever had. Also from Mains please get the short ribs. It's so flavorful and delicious that even if you are full you will keep eating it. They just so happened to have a vacant table on their beautiful outdoor terrace and this was the perfect last dining experience. Their globally inspired Italian fare was phenomenal. My family and I were recommended this restaurant by many people prior to traveling to Mexico City which made us so excited to try it. This restaurant fell extremely short of expectations. The ambiance was poor, the food was lacking, and the service was not up to par with the quality of restaurant we expected. To begin, the first aspect that is misleading in pictures is that while this restaurant has beautiful greenery, the lighting is so poor that creates a somber tone. Our entire table commented that it made us feel like we wanted to go to sleep. Furthermore, our server was unenthusiastic and not attentive. He was not able to discuss the menu or provide useful recommendations and was tending to other guests that were seated later. That was extremely disappointing because many other restaurants in the city have the kindest staff and would prioritize those over this dining experience. The drinks were nothing to stand out, I ordered a drink with mezcal and pineapple that I couldn't finish because of the strong mezcal taste. From there on, the food that was most disappointing. Out of the five dishes we ordered, we only enjoyed two - the gnocchi and tagliatelle. We had to send back the cappellacci which appeared extremely undercooked with raw mushrooms, and the minestrone soap was much different than expected, tasting like a watered down pea soup. Finally, for dessert, I had requested a candle in the cake prior to dining at the restaurant which the server did not provide. When speaking to the manager about these experiences, she was extremely kind and apologetic about the missing candle. She stated this was the style of their food and how it will always be in terms of flavor profile and cooking style. Rosetta has a lovely bar on the top floor so make sure you get there early to check it out! The signature savoy cabbage dish was a lovely. The textures and flavors will make you forget there isn't any meat in this taco. read more
