First time trying this location at Queen West and had an underwhelming experience. Place is small and seating is strictly limited to 10-12 patrons. There's a bench for people to sit on while waiting for their take-out order. I placed my order and was quoted 10 mins. However, it took double the amount of time before my order was ready. But hey not a big deal for me even though the store wasn't overly busy. The ultimate dealbreaker is when I tasted their food. I got the Rosie thinking that it will be better than the Classic burger. The meat was under-seasoned and the Rosie sauce was bland and tasteless. The sauce didn't even complement the richness of the beef patty and cheese. The buns were too soft for my liking, would have preferred it to be a little bit sturdier as it became soggy from the sauce/toppings. The crinkle cut fries were just average. Yes they were crispy but at same time was overly salted. With other local alternatives offering great fast food smash style burgers, definitely won't be coming back here. read more

I was craving a good smash burger around the Queen West area and stumbled upon Rosie's burger. I got the single patty classic burger which had a very thin and crispy patty but with lots of condiments. The winner was the super crispy crinkle fries. If you like an even crispier version of the shake shack fries, you'll like this. I was too full to eat my banana pudding so I brought it to go. It's topped with cookie crumble and has a few slices of banana in it embedded in a not too sweet custard. It's best served chilled and it's divine. Dare I say this is the best smash patty burger in all of Toronto? I am saying it, but let me explain how I got here and what I tried . I did a smash patty cheeseburger tasting across town. I had Burger Drops. I had Matty's Pattys. I had Harry's Charbroil. I had Happy Burger. I had Ugly Delicious. And these all had their merits. But I do think Rosie's is the best put together and has the best sum of its parts. The mallard on the burger was great. The cheese was American (invented by a Canadian) that is really the only choice for smash patty burgers. It was the right amount of condiments. But that potato bun? Was nice and bright inside and had some seats available to sit all the time. The vibe inside does give burger joint but that's to be expected. Was clean though. A smash burger is meant to pack a punch with bold, beefy flavors, but this patty lacks depth. Perhaps a fattier beef blend or simply a heavier hand with the salt could go a long way in addressing this issue. The sauce, unfortunately, doesn't save the burger either. It tastes like a generic mix of mayo and ketchup, with possibly a hint of mustard or other spices, though it's difficult to tell. Regardless, it's forgettable and lacks the tang or complexity that a good burger sauce should bring to the table. In summary, Rosie's Burgers gets a 3.5/5 --it's perfectly passable. If you're in the area and craving a burger, it'll do. But it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit, and it certainly doesn't deserve to be in the conversation for the best burgers in Toronto. Came by to try the banana pudding. It is $6 for the half pint, $12 for the full. The pudding was pretty good with sliced bananas and Graham crumbles but perhaps a bit overhyped. The inside is very retro with some seating available. I didn't try the burgers but there is a beyond meat option available. I ordered the "Rosie" and it came with 2 nicely smashed patties with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and their signature Rosie sauce. The patties were cooked to perfect with a little crunch. The bun held together everything well and was a great bite every time. The sauce was a let down though, as I ended up putting some of the buttermilk ranch to enhance everything. We also got their special chilli cheese fries and man was that amazing. I would solely come back for these fries. Think Wendy's cheese fries but with crack. It'll leave you fiending for sure. This popular local burger joint lives up to the hype! I highly recommend you come here if you like smash burgers and crispy onion rings. I got the Rosie (double) which included cheese and other toppings. I also got frings which was a combination of onion rings and fries. The burger patties were perfectly cooked and had a nice sear on the edges. Of course, I had to try the famous banana pudding as well. This is something I will definitely order again. I love the generous amount of cookie crumbs in it. The half pint is enough for two people to share. My main complaint with this location is that it was extremely hot inside. A little pricey but it is very tasty. One of my favourite places to get smash burgers. The meat is a little thin but 2 would've been too much. The Rosie sauce is the perfect sauce for the burger. Tastes a little bit like a Big Mac but elevated. The fries are perfectly crispy and potatoey with every bite. The banana pudding is delightful but I wish it did have biscuit layers. Usually when I pass by Rosie's Burgers, it doesn't look all too busy through their glass storefront, but this visit on a Sunday evening was absolutely jam-packed. They had a huge influx of customers ordering, picking up, as well as Uber drivers going in and out constantly. As a result, pre-ordering was a smart choice and worked out nicely as my order was ready in time as promised. As the name suggests, most come for their burgers. I tried their signature Rosie Burger which tasted fresh but was lacking just a tad of flavor. Their fries are salted crinkle fries which was okay, I didn't love how soft the fries were. The star of the meal was their banana pudding which I would 100% come back for just that alone. Like most, their banana pudding consists of vanilla custard and fresh banana slices, but instead of wafer, they use graham and the best part, COOKIE CRUMBLE. This layer makes all the difference in elevating this treat as there's some contrast in texture from the added crunch. Overall, the textures give a good mouth feel, the flavor is rich without being heavy, and the sweetness level is perfect. This was to die for! I love Rosie's burgers and when I found out they had a banana pudding that was similar to magnolia bakery's, I had to try it. But boy was it disappointing. The pudding tastes and looks synthetic. The pudding itself is stretchy and unnatural looking and the bananas never started to get black in the fridge, even after leaving leftovers in there for 4 days. The Rosie's sauce that comes on it was a nice creamy addition too. The fries were thick, crinkly and crispy with just enough softness on the inside. I definitely enjoyed my meal! I only gave them 4 instead of 5 stars cuz the service was slow and inaccurate. Took about 20 minutes to get my order, and there weren't many people in the restaurant at the time (I acknowledge they could have also been working on delivery orders, but still - 20 mins felt like a long time to wait, considering it's not a table-service restaurant). Burgers have 2 patties and when I asked how big the patties were the cashier invited me to look at the pictures on the wall...duh! Another employee came over and advised that they are 3 oz patties. Comes with ketchup and mayo ONLY! When I requested no ketchup and inquired about tomato etc I was told it wasn't an option...when another employee saw me roll my eyes ($24 bucks and no toppings!) I was then told they could accommodate me so I added tomato, lettuce and onion. Burger was okay...not great, not good, just okay and fries were tasty but completely saturated in oil. Being an avid TicTock scroller I've come across more than a few videos of people giving their list for Toronto's Best Burger spots, and Rosie's Burgers is listed in the top 5 more often than not. Last week I decided to make my own list by trying out the top 10 most commonly listed spots in the before mentioned videos and today being a holiday Monday I decided to make the 45 minute drive down town. This burger spot had a collection of food delivery Bicycles parked out front which is always a good sign, upon entering I made my way through the sea of Uber delivery drivers and gave my order to the very courteous guy working the register. A Rosie burger for me, another for my friend, two bottles of water and of course a half order of banana pudding. Why the pudding instead of fries? Because every video I see of people reviewing burgers always includes mention of banana pudding. We waited less than 20 minutes before receiving our order. The burgers were well constructed, extremely tasty and have set the bar for the next burgers very high for sure. The twin patties were smashed to perfection, very crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, the buns had zero sogginess (is that a word?) which is always a plus. I highly recommend trying this place out. Oh and the banana pudding, an excellent choice for following the burger. Sweet, tasty, and delicious. I have zero complaints and will probably return, unless of course the remaining burger spots live up to the hype. But even then I'll be back. read more

At my daughter's suggestion, we decided to hit up Rosie's. The service was meh. The gentleman taking our order was mildly rude and really didn't care if we ordered or not. So this place is a your classic burger joint. They have a very minimal menu which is great. So far I've tried a few of the burgers, the popcorn chicken, the banana pudding, and their cookies. Right off the bat I can tell you that the burgers are great. When you compare them to the other smash burgers in the city they definitely can hold their own against some of the best. The meat is high quality, pickles are great, they also have a super tasty bun that doesn't get soaked through and turn soggy too quick. Their signature "Rosie's Sauce" is reminiscent of Mac Sauce just with better ingredients. The popcorn chicken doesn't have overpowering seasoning, and it relies on the sauce to do most of the heavy lifting, in my opinion that's not a bad thing. It reminds me of Raising Cane's in that sense. But the breading is nice and crispy. As for the Banana Pudding, its fantastic and lives up to the hype. People come here just for the pudding, which is a good indicator. It's basically custard, banana, and a graham topping to give it a nice texture. If anything that I've tried was a weak point it would have to be the fries, but only because I prefer more crispy fries(Costco fries, I'm looking at you), but there's always going to be people that appreciate crinkle fries so just know what to expect here. The service is a little bit on the slower side as far as burgers go, but that's because of the quality you're getting here, it's well worth the wait. Staff is always friendly and patient. The overall feel of the restaurant is very Queen West. You'll see the usual crowd here on any given night. Seating is very limited so be prepared to take your order to go if you're visiting at a busy time. If you're looking for a great burger Rosie's should definitely be at the top of your list! read more

I thought I wrote a review for this place but oops it's still missing. Burgers are great. I can't complain. However, from what I remember the patty is leaning more crispy than very juicy. I can see some may prefer the more crispy edges. Their banana pudding is divine. It includes a crumble of butter cookies tossed for added texture. The fries were addictive, reminds me of McDonald's fries but crispier. The price is fair. Very rare for me to say that I'm a huge fan of the sides, that it may have outshined the burger. I have no idea why this place is so hyped up. The burgers are mediocre - the fillings are your standard tomato, lettuce and pickles, nothing special. The bun was so soft that it completely deflated by the time I finished half of it. I understand that the burgers are supposed to be smashed, but the fact the tomato was cut thicker than the burger itself threw me off. I also felt that the burger I ordered wasn't salty enough (I got the beyond burger); I ended up putting fries, extra house sauce, and ketchup on the sandwich to make it a bit more exciting. Though it wasn't bad, I expected something more innovative & tasty from a "5-star" burger spot. Rosie's Burgers is a welcome addition to the Queen West streetscape after the winter kill caused by all the shut downs over the last couple years. A simple basic menu, clearly on the display greets you upon arrival. No combo deals, just order what you want and pay for each item separately. I got the basic one patty burger, fries and a gourmet pop. Price was just under $20 including a 15% tip. The bun was soft and a nice round size, perfect for biting into. And the toppings, perfect, with no choices offered, just the standard fare with plenty of mayo to drip between your fingers mmmmmm. And the burger was perfectly cooked with the crispy edges and yummy good! The only problem with it, which Karen alluded to, was the size was rather small. Thin. I enjoyed the combo of the whole deal, but could have eaten two of them since the meat was not quite substantial enough. Rosie's isn't kidding anyone with these single-patty burgers, as these are two-patty patties. This seems to be normal for the gourmet burger places. It's hit or miss whether the burger is big enough. Someone needs to standardize these sizes so we know what we are getting into. I found the same problem with RUDY. Burgers are great, but the single burger just isn't big enough. Speaking of the competition, there are so many good burger places downtown. One that I love is Big Smoke burgers on King W. near Portland. Of course there is the old Burger's Priest, and RUDY down the street. For lower end, there is Wendy's just opened in the old Taco Bell spot, and one of my favs, Java with their basic burger and fries priced around $10 all in. As other reviewers mentioned, Rosie's Burgers serves up a pretty standard smash burger on a plain untoasted bun (mine was still cold actually), lettuce, a slice of tomato, two slices of pickles, cheese and their house sauce. The burger was average and nothing exceptional or standout. I appreciate the simplicity in their menu and their burgers but everything tasted a bit plain... I felt the portions were appropriate for the price but the food at Rosie's was ultimately wanting for some more flavour. I also got the fries and they were 100% a McDonald's fries clone where you get a thin and crispy yellow fry that has more crunch than potato.
