    Jalapeño Cheddar Burger

Just a typical small town bar. There were nats flying around us while we ate. We both ordered the jalapeño cheddar burger and it tasted delicious. But we both fellt sick for the next day or two.

Burgers are very good. Ground chuck. Half pound burgers and hand cut fries. The absolute reason to come here is for "moose nuts". These are small squares of fried pizza dough with cheese sprinkled on top. Served with marinara sauce and ranch dip. Eaten fresh, these will rock your world. It is also a bar. Friendly staff. Good priced food for the money. A parking lot. Out in the country.

It's one of those places the city folk might call a dive. If they walked in and walked out they'd be missing being around the presence of real people, real fun, and great food and service. Nice establishment. We've been going here for years (once a year). We enjoy their karaoke entertainment. They have a waitress there that will sing in between taking orders and from the perfect pitch of her voice, and I mean perfect, she should be doing concerts somewhere. I mean BIG VENUE quality. CELIACS: do not order the gluten free pizza. Crust is horrible. Worst I've ever had. And I've had many. I'll still go back tho... family tradition. I'll just find something different on the menu. Last year the pizza was good but maybe I ordered the cauliflower crust instead??

Their pizza and moosenuts are some of the best in the area and definitely worth the drive just for them alone!

My party suggested we stick around for dinner too, which I wasn't going to object to. I wasn't surprised to hear that we'd have a 35-minute wait on a Saturday. The staff was very accommodating and offered an empty room upstairs to wait and pass the time with some games. We asked if we could order some cocktails, and luckily the answer was yes. We placed an order with the hostess, and she brought those upstairs. Later, when there was a Shirley Temple spill, staff was gracious and whipped up another drink right away. Hospitality deserves five stars alone. What else deserves five stars? The cocktails of course. I had two "hotties," which were perfect with the wintry weather...and smart thinking. Who really wants a cold drink in January? The menu is simple, and much of the food is locally-sourced (huzzah). I vegetarian-ized the Christmas Dinner pizza, and it needed the saltiness/fatiness of the sausage. Still, I'll give points for creativity. Four stars. I get destination vibes from this spot, and I know I'll need to return in the summer months for the most optimal experience...but I was overall impressed with my winter trip. Five stars for Iron Fish Distillery!

The separate little shop they had where you could buy the liquor they make was really cute and unique. I liked the cozy, clean interior and overall feel. We already want to go back!

When I visited it was for a family dinner so we did not have to navigate having golfing equipment with us. The restaurant was located on the upper level and not hard to miss once you got upstairs. The inside of the restaurant was sizable and could easily accommodate various group sizes. The views from the restaurant were nice. We weren't seated directly by a window but you could see the golf course from a distance. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with explaining the various items on the menu. On the day of my visit they had a sword fish special that my husband ordered but I was able to try. I ordered the steak with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The steak came with a nice size piece of garlic butter on-top of it. The steak was cooked beautifully and delicious. I tried the swordfish and it was a little lackluster especially compared to the steak. It was well seasoned and juicy. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were also nicely cooked. After seeing all of the other dishes that the table ordered, I tried a few, the steak was the best choice. The drinks were also well made.

Amazing views Amazing chicken wings (however with a caveat)…read more But, our story begins with the discussion of which restaurant had the best chicken wings. When a friend of ours said the wings at the South Course were amazing. We need to test this statement, she needed to be qualified. I read the reviews for South Course, saw that the only thing negative was there service. So we planned a lunch evaluation. Firstly, service was excellent, our server was nice and professional. Secondly, the views of this lovely golf course makes lunch a decedent affair. I heard that chicken wings were a Sunday treat, and when I mentioned that our waitress said, I'll get you some. Oh boy, wings were ordered as an appetizer for everyone, and my friend ordered wings as the entree. I ordered chicken and waffles and my other friend ordered the fish and chips (walleye). The chicken wings were amazing, however, cold on the inside. They took them back and got us new (or refried) ones. They do have great, great chicken wings. The chicken and waffles, it was plated beautifully, but not really to my liking, very sweet. The Walleye fish and chips was out of the park, I shoulda got that. Management found out about the cold chicken wings and were most apologetic about it, and took it off the menu. Thumbs up to them. Service was terrific, Sky, she was so very nice. Yes, definitely I wanna try the dinner menu. I will be back.

The walls are covered with beer signs, trophy fish and old antiques. Fitting for the oldest running saloon in town. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our orders. Our drinks came back quickly and we knew what we wanted. I ordered the chicken fried steak with a side of cheesesy hashbrowns (Additional $1.50), coleslaw and a roll. My friend ordered the 4 piece bbq chicken with fries, coleslaw and a roll. The wait wasn't long. 10-15 minutes if that. My chicken fried steak was good. The cheesey hasbrowns were worth the extra charge! And I don't usually like coleslaw but this was great! My friend sure did enjoy his chicken! The service, food, PRICE for what you get and attmosphere were all EXCELLENT!

I had barely set foot in the door when the two bartenders at the bar greeted me warmly and welcomed me in and told me I could sit anywhere I wanted. I sat at the bar and as recommended by a local, I ordered the pepper jack crab soup, which was delicious. One thing to be aware of: don't expect real crab in the soup. Imitation only. But it's plentiful and delicious on a frigid winter day. The bartender recommended the roasted chicken or the perch, and living near another great lake and always having ready access to perch, I decided on the broasted chicken. I was not disappointed. It came with four pieces, choice, potato, and a choice of another side. It was way too its food, but I ate more than I thought they would because it was that good. I will definitely return to the painted lady!
