Went to Rosie's for the first time last night. Loved the room! Had a Guiness and it was poured properly. Yay! My buddy ordered a burger, I ordered the rack of lamb. Service was fine, but the food was a little slow coming out of the kitchen...maybe 45 minutes.....but I heard that is not uncommon. My lamb came out closer to medium than medium rare (a faux pax...but not a crime in my book). But was still very juicy, tender and flavorful. But the vegetables were cooked absolutely perfectly. Sort of a rarity, and very appreciated! The red potatoes were amazing! Overall, a nice dining experience. Wouldn't hesitate to eat here again! read more

Great place for a meal or to meet friends for drinks. Cozy and unpretentious while delivering excellent food. Rosie's is divided into two areas. There is a formal dining area in the back, and the bar and informal dining area in the front. If you want a quieter more formal dining experience then making a reservation is recommended. The front area is small and can be quite noisy. There is free parking in a parking garage directly across the street. I have yet to be disappointed with the quality of the food. Recommendations include the Asian Steak Salad and the Gouda Burger. read more

Definitely my favorite place for a nice candle lit dinner. I have been for the bar as well, but as a bar, it's good, I won't be focusing on that. The back room is where you want to bring a date. Nice ambiance, and an excellent food selection. I have yet to have a bad meal here, and I try something different on the menu every time, if not just going for the special of the day. Something that you probably didn't think of ever getting at a moderately upscale restaurant. The Smoked Gouda Mac n Cheese. It's delicious. Try it just once. I noticed a few people sayings service is hit or miss. I've been coming once every couple months for several years now and I haven't had any service issues. But as with any establishment I'm sure there have been bad servers here. As a regular I've had good to excellent service. read more

My husband and I were travelling from MN on our way to Florida. We stopped the first night in Bloomington, Illinois, and had dinner at Rosie's Pub. Although we did not have a reservation, we were given a table right away. The restaurant is located in a very old building where Abraham Lincoln used to have his law offices. The staff was very welcoming and our server was extremely pleasant. We ordered drinks-wine for me and a beer for my husband- plus our dinners- cinnamon spareribs for my husband and cioppino for me. Our meals were quite tasty, but my husband's meal was not hot. He felt that it had been waiting under a heat lamp while my cioppino was being finished. We probably should have asked for it to be heated as I am sure they would have happily done so. My portion was very generous and I could not finish it all. We were offered boxes but because we were travelling we did not take any food with us. Despite the cool food, we both agreed that if we found ourselves back in Bloomington again, we would go back to Rose's. read more

Awesome food and atmosphere, but make reservations first, it gets crowded fast! I had the duck salad, and it was delicious! The nuggets of meat were very tender, and the flavors of the other ingredients went together nicely. The garden flatbread was also excellent. Loaded with lots of veggies, and the crust was just crispy enough to balance the textures. Overall a lovely spot for a nice dinner or classy drinks. read more

My husband and I were on our way home and passing by Bloomington. We wanted some supper and checked Yelp and decided to try Rosie's. We were able to get seated in the dining room and had a very enjoyable dinner. Staff was excellent and very attentive. Social distancing was followed and the staff and patrons wore masks. When is a pub more than a pub? When it serves food over and above the radioman pub standards. This is clearly the case with Rosie's Pub. I'll admit that my expectations weren't very high, but I can report that I was very pleasantly surprised. The interior was dimly lit, as one would expect. The decor was eclectic but completely appropriate. We were seated immediately and receive prompt and attentive service. However, the food was the real star of the show. We split the BLT flatbread as an appetizer. It was nicely presented and well paired with what seemed to be a garlic aioli. The crust was flavorful and appropriately thin but could have stood being a bit crisper. My entree was the Greek shrimp salad. It was obvious to me that there was a deft hand at work in the kitchen as the huge portion of sautéed shrimp on the salad were served warm and perfectly cooked. The salad portion was perfect as an entree. Only on thing stopped this from being a 5- review. Contrary to the menu, the shrimp had been seasoned with what seemed to be a Buffalo-style seasoning. It was a bit overpowering in combination with the oregano dressing. Knowing better, I would happily return and sample other menu items. read more

In town for state dance tournament and this place was close the the venue. The burger, the ham sandwich and the nachos were awesome. Food was fresh, good flavor and served hot. While on road trips with my sister, we make a point to try unique places for dining breaks. Rosie's Pub certainly fits the bill. The pictures on the reviews looked great, despite the lighting. In person, the food was very pleasantly arranged and extremely tasty. We decided to try two sandwiches and, Griffin, our fantastic waiter, set it up so that we both got half of each one. The BLT with Avocado was really good with balanced amounts of all ingredients. Oh man, I'm going to have to make BLTs like that when the Ripley tomatoes are fresh. The thick chips fit the sandwich perfectly. Now for the best part, the Reuben. It is as Midwestern a sandwich as you can get, and these guys nailed it. Again, all the flavors were balanced, not over sauced. The tang of the kraut was just right. I enjoyed every bite. Griffin kept our water glasses full and confirmed our selection of the next stop to get the espresso jolt to finish the day's drive. He wasn't wrong. We stopped in Bloomington on our way to Chicago and drove around till we found something. The reviews for where we planned on going we're not at good as this one so we walked around the block and tried Rosie's. It was really good food and a great atmosphere. I've lived in Bloomington for over 7 years and I've tried most of the Burgers in town and Rosie's has to be in the top 3 for sure. Their blue cheese burger with bacon and Guiness grilled onions is really great. I have also enjoyed some of their pastas and they absolutely have the best fried cheddar cheese balls in town. The staff has always been friendly to me and their drink prices on friday nights are reasonable ($2 bud light drafts last time, if cheap beer is your thing. I stuck with the Lagunitas IPA, my favorite summer beer). read more

The hubs and I decided to get out of Champaign for Saturday lunch, and after reading several Yelp reviews, we ended up at Rosie's in Bloomington. It's a quaint pub on Route 66, which is always a plus for me. We started with the cheese nuggets with ranch dip. These were definitely some elevated cheese curds served with a sprinkle of parmesan on top. I had the club sandwich with homemade chips. The sandwich was huge and delicious, and the chips were thick and salty. Hubs opted for the day's special, which was a chicken bacon ranch sandwich served with steak fries. I managed to snag a fry and it was perfectly seasoned and hot. Hubs said the sandwich was amazing as well. They also served us RC Cola, which reminded me of my childhood. Everyone was friendly and the place was pretty packed. We'll definitely be back to try the dinner menu on a future date night. read more

Rosie's is a fun place, with friendly bartenders and a New Orleans vibe. I have t admit, the fact that it's styled after a NOLA bar is my favorite reason for going there. In the summer there is outdoor seating, so that you can smoke and drink at the same time. Huzzah! read more

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. I had the salmon, but I chose to not have it blackened... Just grilled, and it was delicious. My husband had the Cioppino and pasta and he also raved about his meal. I ordered a white sangria, and it too was spot on. Went the other day to this little gem in downtown Bloomington with some friends! The place was packed for a Thursday night, and we forgot to make a reservation. With the place being so busy the bartender told me that if we waited just a few minutes she was pretty sure one of her tables would be getting up soon. Sure enough they shortly did leave. That night I had the bleu cheese burger and soup of the day, it was really pretty good. I look forward to coming back to this spot. read more

Rosie's is one of my favorite places to get a drink. They have a good beer selection, friendly staff, and a more upscale yet relaxed atmosphere. I much prefer it to most of the other bars in downtown Bloomington, which are too loud and packed with drunk undergrads. I would definitely classify it as a pub more than a bar, which is why I like it so much. I have eaten at Rosie's a few times in the past, but was not blown away by the food. I'm a vegetarian so I stuck with the flatbread, but meat eaters may have more luck. Now I just go there for drinks. read more

I will start off by saying the front bar of rosies is very cozy and warm; great atmosphere. The service was also very good and beer selection was decent. Unfortunately, the food was pretty lack luster. Not sure that what I ordered would qualify as a steak salad. It was more of chinese food on a platter of lettuce. The pecan crusted chicken was also unseasoned. May be a good lunch place for a burger, or a good place to go for a few beers and appetizers. read more

Absolutely a great dining experience last night!!! Still can't believe the size of the cheese nuggets and for $6. I asked the server if the kitchen made a mistake and gave us too much. She said it was correct. Even my mother-in-law couldn't have finished this plate, and she can eat a lot. We also had the coconut shrimp salad and the BLT flat bread, both very good. My only "complaint" is the lack of decent draft beer. While they do have about 8 beers on tap, they are all mass appeal beers, no craft beers, unless you say Lagunitas IPA is. read more

Solid pubby place with better than expected pub food. The tap selection is OK, but it is Bloomington so it is probably top shelf for here. I had some seafood pasta that was better than some Italian restaurant fare I have had. Nice enough pub staff, clientele was low key except for the "50-something sale team outing aging frosty blonde woo-girl night" that was going on by the bar. That's not the bar's fault, though. My favorite place to eat and drink in Bloomington/Normal! I have tried several things on the menu and all have been good. What I keep coming back for are the Long Islands! I have tried several around town and Rosie's has had the best tasting drink and the best price. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. I met a couple friends for dinner and drinks before heading to a motorcycle race downtown. I had a few Black & Tans which were poured perfectly. I also had the Breakfast Burger, I don't recall the actual name but it had a fried egg on it with bacon. The burger was very good but I ordered it med. rare and it was closer to well done but I still enjoyed it. The fries were very good as well. I've only been to Rosie's one other time and I'm going to have to remember this place for date nights, etc. It's very inviting inside and the staff are all wonderful. I'll be back soon. read more
