We went to Parkview in today for lunch with my mom and my daughter and my grandson and it was a lovely time everybody was so super sweet everybody at Parkview is really nice it's a family restaurant and it's a really good atmosphere. The food is really good and I've honestly never had a bad meal here! Like I said we got lunch and So my mom got a tenderloin with all the fixings It was really good she let me try bite and I've had it before and it's pretty good tasteinf food. Today I tried something different and got the Country Joe fried steak sandwich. So it's kind of like if you ever get country fried steak as a breakfast item or whatever it's kind of like that except it's got an egg on it now normally it comes over hard but I asked for it over medium and they did a perfect job with it. My daughter got chicken strips and fries with barbecue sauce they've got pretty good barbecue sauce there and then my grandson got the little corn dogs he really likes those. I bring my dad here at least once a month. He loves fried chicken and we haven't found better chicken in the area yet. It's well seasoned. The portions are generous and I don't have many complaints. I did read some of the other reviews and I feel horrible for their poor experiences. I hope they give this place another chance and I really hope they are treated better. read more

I stopped for breakfast on Sunday, I was hungry for the country fried steak which I have eaten there numerous times, but they have changed the country fried steak, and the scrambled eggs were watery. My husband and I went to Parkview Inn for lunch and ended up walking out--completely disgusted. After being seated by the hostess, we waited over 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. Meanwhile, several other tables were seated after us and were greeted and had their orders taken promptly. The only difference? My husband is Black, and everyone else around us--including the guests who received service--was white. This wasn't subtle. It was glaring and impossible to ignore. We gave the benefit of the doubt in the moment, but the longer we sat and watched, the more obvious it became that we were being deliberately ignored. No server ever came by--not even for a hello or water. I reached out to Parkview Inn privately three weeks ago to give them a chance to respond before writing this review. I received no reply whatsoever. That silence speaks volumes. This kind of behavior is unacceptable--in 2025 or any year. If you're a business open to the public, every guest deserves respect and basic service, regardless of the color of their skin. Shame on you, Parkview Inn. read more

American Diner? Well if you want to leave your under teen kids at home then maybe, but if you order the chips expect the small bag of lays coming out to you. Rediculous to see a $0.38 bag of chips come to my table. i will state this is more of a Bar and Grill for adults to mingle with drinks. My family and I stumbled on this location as we were passing through town and decided to give it a try for lunch, and we were not disappointed. I loved the large open space with large windows that let in a lot of natural light, with the green light accent from the DIY Jager bottle lights on the wall! The service was top notch. Everyone was extremely friendly and our food was prepared quick! The Italian beef was tender and flavorful! The patty melt was cooked as it should be and served on a flavorful marble rye, which you don't see often, but it works. The pizza wasn't anything special, but it did the trick for us! The food is okay. The service is good. I wish they offered kids menus and had straws. It's really what keeps us from coming more often.

It was very warm inside. We asked the waitress to turn the ceiling fans on and she did and it started to feel much better. A few minutes later they were off. When our waitress came back we asked her what happened and she explained that the manager said fans just push hot air around. There was a pregnant waitress clearly uncomfortable who was sweating, and it was disappointing that the manager either didn't understand how fans worked, or didn't want to spend a dollar or two on having the fans running to make the place more comfortable. Huge disappointment AGAIN. I don't know how they managed but the delicious chicken they were famous for? Is now AWFUL. Just spent almost $50 on take out from this place & I'm having a can of soup for dinner. This is twice in a row that we ordered & it was awful. Their sides are also pretty awful. HOW does anyone mess up mashed or baked potatoes?!!! How??? The corn & green beans are clearly canned. Breakfasts are decent but we invariably have a stomach ache later. Beautiful, new building! I was happy here this morning. We came in before 7, greeted promptly as we entered and advised we could sit where we liked. We picked a window spot looking onto the park but had to face away because the sun was beating in crazy. They may need to get some shades or window tinting film. I went with coffee (just so so), and the 2 egg combo that comes with meat, hashbrowns and a slice of toast. I got 4 slices of bacon and a HEAP of perfectly brown, hot, crunchy potatoes. Wasn't thrilled with the brown stains in my coffee cup. The other thing that was odd, I ordered eggs over medium. One was cooked ok but the other had runny whites ewwwe. read more

So far, so good...the place is beautiful. While we wait for the beer taps to be installed, there is a decent bottle selection. The menu while fancier in and of itself, is largely consistent with the place so previously beloved by the neighborhood locals which included me 20 years ago! We just stopped in for a happy hour beer and app and the crowd was lively and the help attentive. We are quite happy for Rick and company and wish them much success. We look forward to a return visit - possibly even to try the breakfast...at which time we will determine a more official review/rating. read more

No straw broke this camel's continued patronage of this restaurant. Stopped in to have my usual order of what is arguably the best breaded pork tenderloin in Bloomington-Normal. Ordered iced tea and when served asked for a straw. I was informed that this restaurant no longer has straws. I explained that because my dental bridge was getting repaired, I needed a straw to avoid dribbling. Still no straw. I really don't know whether this management decision is a budgetary thing, a "green" thing or an attempt to earn a Michelin star. I just know I won't return until I've heard that they have reversed this goofy policy. Guess I'll just have to make the drive to Busy Corner more often. read more

I have been here many times and I really wanted to love this restaurant, as it is family owned. They have great hamburgers! The staff is just terribly lacking. Expressing any concern about a main dish or side is met with disdain, a "like it or lump it" attitude. They don't care about customers, at all. Our monthly lunch group went there this past Tuesday. The food was delicious, and the service was good, too. The decor and scenery out of the windows are awesome. The only complaint my group had was that the acoustics are troublesome, making it difficult to hear each other, although that seemed improved since the first time we ate there. After it reopened, I went to get breakfast/brunch on a Saturday. Overall I was delighted with the ambiance, but there can be some improvements on service and food. I've attached their menus here. I love it that they are colored and not exhaustive. We all know some restaurants that have looooong menus. I was little disappointed that my waitress didn't know what one picture in the menu was because it looked delicious. But the food, especially the size was very decent. The bacon, pancakes, and hash browns were good. What caught my eye was my Aloha Omelette with bacon, pineapple, and pepper jack cheese. I've never seen in elsewhere in town. And as you can see in the picture, the pineapple was grilled and made the whole thing so nice to eat! However, my suggestion is that probably use less bacon and substitute it with something else? Because all the bacons in one bite makes the omelette really salty. But overall I like it! Also, let us not forget the beautiful view from the restaurant. There's nothing more blissful than watching the greenery under sunlight while enjoying your food. read more

We stopped here the other night after I had read comments about this place and wanted to try it. First, like in a previous review, they no longer use straws. This really doesn't bother me at all. Another review was that it was hot inside. There was no problem with the a/c when we were there. One issue was the fan blades twirling over the pot lights in the ceiling causing swirling shadows on the glossy tables. Not a huge deal, but a little distracting when looking at the menu. Not all tables may be affected by this. My dinner date and I both selected the broasted chicken dinner. It was ok, but there didn't seem to be any seasoning on it, just crunchy and flakey. My date's chicken breast was dry and tougher to chew, but mine was not. The sides were ok, nothing special. I did find that all of the staff we had interaction with were polite and friendly. I wanted to point this out as in the industry being short handed and dealing with the public can be very frustrating. We don't live in town and probably wouldn't make the drive just to go back. However, if we are in town looking for somewhere to go, we may return to try a burger or pizza sometime. read more

A GREAT RESTAURANT in Bloomington, Illinois 61701. It opened in November 1928. It had a booming small business. In October 2016 they had a BIG FIRE. Then Rick (the owner) business was ruined. He had an idea to start it up again. Used his own money. Moved it down the street. Made Parkview Inn better than ever. May, 2019 it reopened again. The business is better than ever. This was our first visit since they opened after the remodel, very nice inside, bright & lots of light. It looks like they are working on an outside seating deck which will be nice. I'll bet it's noisy when they are busy though, hard floors & high ceiling. Our waitress Erin was very friendly & good at her job, I love having a skilled server! My 2 breakfast companions both got the country fried steak meal & I got the breakfast horseshoe (minus the cheese.) All of our food was good! The guys raved about the meat & gravy & my brother commented on how well prepared the hash browns were. All of the components of my horseshoe were tasty & the bacon was of very good quality. I LOVE good, thick cut bacon! The only weak link in the meal was my Bloody Mary, it was ok but not much punch to it. We didn't plan on eating here, as we were wanting to try the nearby Eric's Restaurant but Eric's was closed on Mondays. We saw the Park View Inn had quite few cars in the lot so we decided to try it out. Wish we had just driven somewhere else. Turns out all the cars were for the bar, not the restaurant. The food is subpar, even for bar food. The cheeseball appetizer failed to excite any of my group of three's tastebuds. Salads were just iceberg lettuce from a bag no doubt. I had high hopes for my main entree, broasted chicken, but even that was dry and not so great. I tasted my friend's ponyshoe and it was poorly seasoned and cheeses was gross. On positive note, beers were cold and cheap. Maybe if I downed 5 or 6 cold ones, the meal would have tasted bettter. I had a really weird time the last time I ate here. I wanted to order the chicken dinner that comes with a soup OR salad and 1 side of veggies. I was told that the veggies were cooked carrots and I asked to sub those as I don't like cooked carrots My server told me that he couldn't sub the carrots with any other vegetables. Weird but ok. I asked "so the coleslaw could I sub that since it's technically just another side"? I got another no. However if I got the salad, I could sub that for coleslaw. Like uhm nah I didn't didn't want the salad I wanted the soup. So that wouldn't work either. Anyway I just felt like my server made it really hard to even order. The only change I wanted to make was to sub the veggie side for something else and anything I asked was met with a no. I ended up just getting chicken tenders and fries. So lame lol and bland. I don't think we'll be coming back as the food was lackluster and the service was really catty that we received. I feel like any other place would let a customer sub a side with another side on the menu, this waiter was just on a power trip and wanted to he difficult and tell me no.
