We visited Rosie's Pub pretty late (8:45pm) on a Friday night, but did call ahead to make sure we wouldn't piss off the kitchen since they closed at 9, she assured me that it would be fine as long as we ordered pretty quickly. Not an issue as we were HUNGRY. We arrived and there were spots both inside and out, but we opted for inside. We ordered quite a bit to try a variety. IT. WAS. DELICIOUS. Seriously, not a single person in our party of four were disappointed. The fries (both as a side and covered in bacon and cheese) were phenomenal. The calamari was cooked to perfection and the breading was delicious. The lobster Mac n' Cheese had a generous amount of lobster, a pleasant surprise. The waitress was super cool and down to earth and the place was clean! We will definitely be back. read more

Haven't been here in years and had a good meal that was different from the BloNo norm. The BBQ Bacon Shrimp were a very tasty as an appetizer. The sauce added a great taste without taking over. The pecan crusted chicken itself was amazing. The flavorful crust stayed on the chicken and was covered with a delicious sauce. Sides could have been better roasted potatoes were seasoned well, but were way over done and very dry. The sautéed veggies were fine, but nothing special. Service was great! read more

Thisbshould have been much better but Rosie's lost a star because of customers. They are missing a star also because the RC products. Food was tasty. We shared chicken Nachos (careful they up charge sour cream, guac, etc, did even ask if we wanted sc&g). And also had a flat press pizza. The staff was quick and friendly and noticed when refills were needed. The tough kill for Rosie's is the size to small for mid size groups and when a group is there the spoil the atmosphere for any intimate conversation. The. Group tonight was way to loud! read more

I had high hopes but was not overly impressed after my visit. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and the bar was full. After getting in, we were not greeted or seated by anyone, and had to fight for our own spots to get seen at the bar. After we sat down, I saw two groups of people leave because they were in the same situation, waiting at the door. Their food was really good, to be fair. Burgers might be the best value and taste food. Followed by the bruschetta which is messily presented, and wings that were good but average. The nachos looked like a huge portion. But overall I think the food we ordered is overpriced. They definitely need more seating, staff, and working on the presentation on the food. read more

Wow hello fabulous dinner. I was in Bloomington for a few hours & decided to walk and choose my dinner spot by intuition. I grabbed a seat at the end of the bar and ordered an IPA (name? cannot remember. way too many IPA's these days) and scoured the menu. The lobster macaroni caught my eye, but my body was craving leafy greens. I went with the cobb salad, sans bleu cheese crumbles. (I don't know how bleu cheese lovers do it!) The dressing was amazing and the diced chicken, avocado, tomatoes, onions, & cucumbers were proportioned well. Great taste and 1/2 the salad for leftovers. Definitely recommend Rosie's and will be back for dinner before shows at The Castle this fall. read more

Cozy little pub, the food and service are great. They keep the temperature comfortably warm inside, so I'm watching the blizzard outside without feeling like I'm in the blizzard outside. Rosie's is a Bloomington staple. Not only is it a cozy bar/restaurant, but it also has some pretty awesome history. Rosie's was formally Abe Lincoln's law office! My boyfriend and I have come here for special occasions, like Valentine's Day, and we also like to just stop in for a cocktail and an app. We like to show this place off to friends who come to visit because of the history, the good food, and the cozy atmosphere. My favorite food item to order here is the Buffalo Shrimp Caesar salad - it's to die for! read more

I'm giving a 5 for service and effort. The food is really good - but the service is excellent. Came in here on a busy Saturday. The server apologized for being understaffed and a little slow (as all restaurants seem to be these days) - but much more noticeable was how, despite being visibly understaffed, the staff was busting its hump to take care of everyone, and stayed in good spirits. Great meal before a concert at Museum Square. Fried pickles, calamari and nachos were all excellent. 2 of us had the black and blue burger and 2 the regular cheeseburger. If not for the heavy apps, I would've loved to try the pork chop special, ribs or another entree. And the vibe is great - cool, old building - stamped tin ceilings, stained glass - apparently Lincoln had his law practice in the building. History - cool! We'll be back next time we're in town. Wow, where to begin! Just smashed it out of the park from start to finish. Reserved table was ready & waiting for us when we arrived. There is a cozy little dining room back behind the bar and that's where we sat. Nice white tablecloths with a fireplace in the room, very romantic. Our server was very friendly and personable and got us tastes of wine to help us choose a bottle with no hesitation. We started with an order of GIANT shrimp cocktail, wow they were delicious. We thought the sauce could use more horseradish but we like everything spicy. My date decided on the sesame ginger salmon with mashed potatoes and a veggie and it was soooo good. Really super moist and tender with a great asian flavor not just from the sesame seeds. The potatoes were authentic with some bits of skin mixed in. I had the cioppino and pasta and it was a massive bowl just packed with chunks of seafood! I couldn't hardly eat even a third of it and had it wrapped up to go. The perfectly prepared food mixed with the great service in a beautiful refurbished building just really put this date night over the top. Nestled in an old building near downtown, Rosie's offers great food in a great setting. Unfortunately, their lack of accessibility and familiarity with serious gluten sensitivities seriously marred my dining experience. When going out to eat, as someone with Celiac disease, I always check the menu and stow a snack bar, just in case. I was attracted to Rosie's because of their clearly labeled GF menu items, but I was a bit hesitant because none of the entrees were labeled as safe for me to eat. My hesitancy, as it turned out, paid off--because Rosie's has not made themselves familiar with what it means to have an autoimmune disorder or severe allergy. Luckily I asked questions, because many of their "gluten free" items were cooked in a shared fryer--sure to trigger a gluten reaction for me. That means that my immune system would have literally attacked my insides, had I followed the labelling on the menu. My anxiety is already up when I go out to eat, and this was incredibly not helpful in making me feel safe and understood. Ultimately the kitchen was able to modify the pork chops (no sauce) for me, and luckily I didn't get sick--but in today's era of readily available information and training, it is NOT ok to mislabel items as gluten free that are not. On top of that, the salmon was mislabeled as not gluten free when it was safe...and if the mustard sauce with the pork chops contained gluten then they are clearly not trying to cater to those who, like me, truly need a gluten free diet. The food was really good, but it is highly disappointing to me that a restaurant of Rosie's caliber would attempt to be gluten friendly and yet put so little effort into that attempt. read more
