I've been a customer since back in the day when they had a Buffalo Grove location. Dr Nierman is a gem but I've also taken my kids to whoever is available and I've been happy with them. Every doctor there has a terrific bedside manner and they do a great job. I've always had a light prescription, but I cannot drive without my glasses! Glasses are expensive but they run specials on and off by the way. Now I'm entering my "bifocal era" and I'm resisting it! But anyway, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I just received a bill for an outstanding balance for an appointment I had ten months ago. I called the office and spoke to someone who could offer nothing more than an apology and an unsatisfying explanation about a "new system" that wasn't working right. The most unfortunate part of this is that I apparently have no recourse if I ever want to schedule another appointment with Rosin. In a perfect world I'd wait ten months to pay the bill, but I'd like to schedule my annual appointment. I'm beyond frustrated and dissatisfied. read more

I have been going to Roisin's for a bout a decade now and find them to be the best place for eye care. From the eye doctors to the supporting staff they are there to help and diagnose problems that may have plagued you that other partitioners may not have seen. Had an eye appt in January 2025; my prescription changed slightly. I was planning to order a year's worth of contacts if the samples worked out. The first thing they did was give me a week's worth of contacts that had expired in December 2023 (this is January 2025). After giving me non-expired contacts, I ordered the year's worth of contacts soon after. I didn't need to open the box for a few weeks because I still had many left from the previous prescription. When I did, both the L and R eye were both wrong. I called Rosin to tell them and they acted like this was somehow MY fault. Mind you, what was in the box was a prescription I've NEVER had. They eventually admitted it was the eye doctor who wrote it down wrong but, because he wasn't in the office for a month, I'd need to come in and do ANOTHER eye appointment. I got there and the new eye doctor had no idea about my backstory. Once I told her, she skipped the exam and gave me some samples. This time I failed to notice that the samples, again, were expired--also December 2023. This likely means they just stuck the expired ones from a month ago back on the shelf instead of, oh I don't know, throwing them out! Needless to say, I'm very much done with Rosin. read more

I've been going to Nierman Vision in Buffalo Grove for many years but since the Nierman family sold their business to Rosin Eyecare I went to the Rosin Eyecare in Long Grove for the 1st time. I had an issue with the anti-reflective coating on a pair of glasses I've had for 10 months. They were insistent that it's due to my cleaning regimen, which is the same I've used for 20 years without issue, and there were no special cleaning instructions provided with the lenses. I was told "there is nothing we can do since it's been so long." They said they will only guarantee their products for 30 days, and also told me it's not possible that there was a problem with the application of the coating. While upset they wouldn't stand behind their products, in the end my only ask was that they let me purchase new lenses at their cost, which they refused to do. Needless to say, I won't be back, and certainly would never recommend them to anyone. read more

I came here to get my eyes checked. I have been wearing my glasses again instead of my contacts and I am not seeing right. So, I decided to go to Rosin and get a more accurate check on my eyes now that I have been wearing only glasses for over a month (your corneas move around when you wear hard contacts). I found out that For Eyes made my glasses for a weaker prescription and that my eyes had gotten worse. I was torn between buying glasses from here and going to a cheaper place again like For Eyes. The people that make appointments cannot figure out how to verify it. 2 nonsensical conversations where the person did lot even listen or try to trouble shoot. They must have more business then they need or can handle. If this is how they handle you on the phone I shudder to think about how the actual exam and eyeglass fitting would go. The service here is unbeatable! Travis really takes care of his customers and knows the business. I've never had glasses before so I needed help and patience picking out the right reading glasses frames. Everyone there was very helpful and, more important, honest in a nice way to let me know what looked good. I love the glasses I picked out with their assistance. I think it took me about an hour to decide and no one rushed me. I did have my eyes checked by Dr. Boucher and thought she was very good. I got the full eye exam including the dilation (which meant I couldn't read the tiny price tags on any of the frames -lol). Of couse all I kept thinking about during my appt was Brian Regan's comedy routine of going to the eye doctor for an eye exam "they don't call it a quiz. You've got to take this serious if you don't want to end up with Coke bottle glasses." I was so happy with my experience that I went back to them to get sunglasses. They have a good selection of all types of frames at all different price levels but really I come here for the excellent service. read more

Skip Rosin Eyecare in Long Grove. Been wearing glasses 30 years....means probably 15 pairs of glasses over the years. Only had problems with two glasses.. the last two I bought and ironically both from Rosin. Ironically the only two pairs I bought from them were both problematic. In this last case, the glasses ($700 dollars) failed after 5 months. Its not like I have young kids or sleep on them. They simply broke. Rosin would not back up their product in any. Simply wanted to sell me another pair at full price. I would not be so upset if Rosin investigated the failure at all. The glasses broke when I was wiping the lense with a micro cloth. yes just wiping them off. The nose bridge support simply fell off. it broke right in the spot where the nose bridge wire is welded on the frame, right where the nose bridge wire is bent by design. So the spot where the weld ends and the bend starts on a very thin wire is the weakest point of the design. The wire simply failed. Its a pure manufacturers defect. No stress, no customer abuse or anything. Its the point on the design of weakest strength and metal simply failed. Rosin didn't even look or care. The tech I worked with has no clue to perform a simply failure analysis or even exhibit any common sense. Simply looked at the nose bridge piece broken off and gave me the speech that their warrantee is only 30 days. You see I'm an electrical engineer with a lot of engineering background. Its so plain to see that because of the end of the weld and the tight radius curve right at that point creates a lot of stress at the exact point it broke. In my opinion the micro stress cracks tat the point were the cause of the failure. But Rosin didn't care. Didn't look, didn't think about it. Didn't even ask how they broke. Simply told me they are out of Warrantee and started taking measurements for a replacement pair that would cost me $240 dollars for the frame. Honestly why would I buy another copy of the same frame when it had a manuafacturing defect and is designed poorly. Ughh. As I said this is the second pair in a row I had problems with at Rosin. I'm disappointed in the glasses, but mostly disappointed in the response from the Rosin Tech. Not capable at all of assessing the cause of failure...but very capable to start a new order. I'm going to skip Rosin in the future. The doctors there I like, but the glasses and customer service are not in keeping with my expectations. Very very disappointing. Time to move my business to a business that cares...and has properly trained people who know what to do or how to respond to problems. Don't use Rosin in LG. Not a good experience. Walmart is a better option in my opinion. My replacement will be ordered at Walmart. After all I'm going to buy low quality glasses again...I might get a lower price than Rosin's inflated price. read more

The doctors were friendly enough. My 6 year old has had glasses for a year (which they helped with last year as well). This year his prescription changed pretty dramatically. We waited well over 3 weeks. This is not optimal for a kid in school. There is no reason glasses should take that long to make and the "oh well" I basically received on my multiple follow up calls to get them was beyond maddening. I don't care how friendly the staff was - if you can get a product you need in a timely manner than it's not a place that should get business. We will be going elsewhere. read more

Totally worth it! The doctor is thorough and beyond professional. You definitely get what you pay for. I came in for an exam to prove my wife wrong about my need for glasses. We'll she was right, as always! Dr. Boucher took the time to explain to me that my eyes weren't horrible but could use a little assistance. This was the first time in a long time that I didn't feel pressured into buying something or felt like I was being "up sold." The office staff was friendly and efficient. Doctor was super nice and got my exam done and my husband's in no time! Receptionist at the "doctor's" office side didn't seem too friendly or happy to be there. The girl who sold us the glasses was super nice. Glasses were expensive even with insurance coverage so that was my only downside to this place. Came for a contacts exam. The person who was instructing me on how to use them (not the doctor herself) admitted to me he's only done this himself a handful of times and has never used contacts personally. He wasn't sure on the correct side of the lens and had to call the doctor several times. With his unhelpfulness I struggled with placing them in my eyes and was about to get kicked out for taking longer than their 30 minute limit on trying to get them in. When I went back in for a checkup the following week, I came in a bit early and a few minues after stepping in the secretary called a patient informing her that the doctor had to leave early today and rescheduled the patient. I thought OK, well she knows I'm here, I'm probably safe. I waited for 45 minutes when 10 minutes AFTER my scheduled exam time, I am informed that the doctor is leaving early and won't be able to take me. I wanted to speak to the doctor and just have her quickly verify I have 20/20 vision because I didn't feel my right eye saw as well as my left. The doctor did not want to speak to me. I then got lectured by the manager on how family emergencies happen, etc, as if I care after they knew I waited for about 45 minutes in the office patiently already. I demanded my prescription, declined a rescheduling, promised I will leave them an appropriate review, and will contact my insurance to let them know I was not happy with the service provided. The team at this location was amazing! I bought new glasses from another location and something just wasn't right. The script and measurements were correct but still my eyes were telling me something was wrong. Karina would not give up on finding a solution for my issue, she even called a competitor to ask what kind of glass I had in my old glasses. Unfortunately, going to Rosin Eyecare in Long Grove, IL turned out to be a big mistake. I will be going back to the For Eyes on Route 60 in Vernon Hills. I went to Rosin Eyecare because my family insurance changed and I found them on the approved list for the new insurance. When I made the appointment they did not tell me their regular Optometrist was on vacation. My daughter and I were seen by someone who came in from one of their other locations. He rushed through the examinations. Gave my daughter the wrong prescription. She is 16 and has been wearing eyeglasses since she was in First Grade and this is the first time we have ever been given the wrong prescription. Unfortunately, contact lenses were ordered and eyeglass lenses for her current frames were also ordered. Then came the 2 month long ordeal of figuring out it was the wrong prescription. Getting them to re-check her eyes (twice because the first re-check was also off) and then re-ordering both contact lenses and new lenses for her frames. The glasses took FOREVER to get. We will never be going back here. I would rather pay full price without insurance than deal with this place again. read more
