Yes, there are plenty of Pearle Visions near me, I choose this location because of Dr. Kulbak (formally Windy City in Bucktown Square, Chicago). There is plenty of parking since it is located in the Woodland Commons Shopping Mall. Her staff greeted me as soon as I walked in. The check-in process was swift and simple. She was thorough with my eye exam and took the time to answer my questions. They carry a variety of brands of frames and the staff was helpful in assisting me in finding the exact frame I want. I was very happy with the service and experience. I am truly appalled by some of the low rating reviews. Eye exams and eyewear can be costly especially with add-ons and features. I don't think it's fair to give a one-star review or complain about the experience because of the cost. read more

Ahhh I really want to like this office because it's so convenient, but be ready to be snubbed if you don't buy glasses from them. I went in for a routine check up with my kids and we all had new prescriptions. Last year, I saved a lot of money ordering glasses online so figured I'll do the same this year. The staff is not very helpful if they know you're going to order online and they will charge extra an extra $25 for eyeglass measurements that you need, and mind you, they provided it last year (it was on the prescription). I just wish they were more helpful and the level of service didn't go down when they realize you're not going to order from them. There are plenty of other eye doctors/offices in the area and my family and I will just go elsewhere next time. Update: I just called a few other optical places and all of them said they provide the PD measurement whether or not you order glasses from them or not. One of the providers even told me to come in and that they'll do the measurements for free for my kids and I!! Now that's customer service...they just got 5 new customers! read more

I came in to get my eyes checked as well as for a new pair of eyeglasses. I am a Pearle Vision customer but came in to this location for the first time and left with a less than satisfactory experience. Will not be returning. The check-in process was smooth and while I waited for the doctor, there was an argument between the staff for preferred temperature inside the facility. Not sure if that was the reason but the doctor was rude while answering my questions. Once done, I headed out and selected my eyeglasses. The Pearle vision branch I went to last year, took time to understand and explain what kind of coating I might or might not need while here they added it right into my bill. I told the lady helping me that I do not need the extra coating which was followed by a lot eye rolling. I saved some $$ by putting my foot down and she wasn't happy. I picked up my glasses a week later. While I am happy with the glasses, this branch needs to work on its customer service. read more

1. MisPrescribed my glasses. Had to wait several days to get a correction appointment. Then had to wait another 3 to 4 weeks to get the replacement lenses in. 2. Their lens cutter comes in only one day a week. This added another few weeks to when I could finally get my correction lenses installed. Eg, arrive on Friday, you can't get them installed for a week. If you are not available that next Thursday, you have to wait to yet another Thursday. 3. Ordered contact lenses, were due in about 10 days later. Several days after due date, I had to call to find out if contacts were in. Due dates don't seem reliable. read more

Pearl Vision are very helpful and they would surely be a lot better than any dept store optical store, because they care, you can also ask them for a little tool they have, to keep at home, it's like a tiny plunger that sucks onto the contact lens and helps you slide it to the side and out of your eye... in case your contact gets sucked onto your eye ball, I fell asleep with my contacts one night because i was exhausted and next morning my eyes were a burning mess, my mom goes to Pearl Vision so she told me to go to them, they were so caring compassionate and helpful. This place (Pearl Vision in Buffalo Grove, IL) has gotten really worse with the latest manager and employees. They are very disrespectful and the service is very bad. I have been going here for almost 15 years now, and Leo was exceptional in his service. It's not the same anymore. Beware!! I went for an eye exam and contact lens fitting. The doctor's service was ok. They said they will call when the contact lens samples come, but did not call me for 3 weeks even after they came. Then they gave me an appointment for lens fitting and training. When I went in I was asked to wait. I waited for 40 min and when I asked them how much more time to wait, she (apparently, the manager) said she has no time to see me. She was with another patient for the 40 min I was there and never even acknowledged my presence, even less tell me that she may not be able to keep her appointment. She asked me if I would come later or next week. By now we are in the last 2 weeks of the year and I didnt want to wait another week as I wanted to place my order towards the current year vision plan. I asked her to give me my sample contact lens and I will waive the training. I didnt want their training (I really dont trust them) and she refused to give them to me. So, I just let them go, and will go to Costco. First, they have no respect or care for anyone they are servicing. Secondly, if they mess up (either human error or fewer employees), they don't accept accountability. They are rude and irresponsible. read more

I sat on my glasses the other day and because they are progressive AND they were so crooked, I was kind of screwed in driving, reading and walking!! I saw this office as I was trying to drive by decided to ask for help! I was totally willing to pay them to fix my glasses for me. Well, Gaylord, the store manager, said, "Oh my...we need to fix those." Well, not only did he fix them and send me on my way within minutes, but refused to let me pay for the service. I didn't buy the glasses there, but I will definitely consider them in the future. I am always impressed with incredible service and this store perfectly exemplifies that attitude!! read more

Stay away if you value your time and money! I ordered two (not cheap) pairs of glasses, and both were not made correctly. Both pairs have progressive lenses. The first pair the distance vision is way off to the point that I can't even wear them at all. The second pair, the eyes on the glasses are two different shapes because instead of cutting the lens to fit the frame, the frame was bent to fit the lens. I NEVER even took possession of the second pair because I told them at the time I went to pick them up that I would not accept these frames and wanted a new pair. They said they would have a manager call me and no one ever called. I've called several times since and am told each time a manager will call me back and no one ever does. The last time I called the snotty girl on the phone told me: "we don't give refunds". I told her they cannot make me pay for a product I never got, and again was told a manager would call me back. Guess what? Never got a call. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office. These people are unethical and clearly only care about taking your money! I highly recommend Dr. Berkovich and his staff. I haven't had an eye exam in years, which made me nervous, but with his extensive knowledge and experience, I couldn't have asked for an easier and smoother appointment. He answered all my questions, recommended, and gave samples of contact lenses that are by far better than what I've been wearing for the past 4+ years. I drive past several nearby optometrist offices to get to this Pearle Vision on Half Day Road. Why? Because I trust them and they stand by their work. I smushed the glasses I purchased from them last year (I accidentally slept on them) and they were fixed at no charge and ready for me before my eye exam was over. The staff is very pleasant to deal with and I'd like to give a shout-out to Gaylord specifically; his knowledge of the billing process and patience with my questions is to be applauded. I also really liked Dr. Berkovich - he had a calm demeanor and his knowledge of multi-focal daily wear contacts was so great that the lenses he wanted me to trial ended up being perfect for me. Going to the eye doc doesn't have to be a bland experience... In fact, it can be quite enjoyable! Yesterday I went for my annual eye check-up and to replace the my broken glasses and my husband's lost glasses. We were greeted with such friendly "hellos" from the husband/wife duo. I genuinely felt like they were thrilled to see me. In fact, I jumped back a little because the "hellos" were so vibrant. We were served with excellent customer service and I appreciated how they acknowledged that we wouldn't want to wait around...they were beyond efficient. While my husband was getting his eyes examined, I must have tried on 25 pairs of glasses. When it was my turn, Leo asked what I was looking for and ta-da! - he pulled the perfect pair for me! And for my husband, he was beyond patient as he tried every color and shape. Dr. Nelson was also a gem. Calm and explained every detail. I appreciated his honesty and care throughout the exam. While we have vision insurance, we weren't eligible for some insurance benefits because we were getting replacements early. This store was sold and resold and the new owners are less than stellar. They're in this to make a buck and get you out the door ASAP. The prices are outlandish and they keep adding more services reminiscent of an automobile dealer. Scratch free lenses extra, UV protection extra, insurance extra, replacement extra extra extra!!. There are also different types of coatings and lens materials and each is more expensive than the next. And you guessed it-EXTRA! By the time you leave, your free doctors visit turns into a $500 purchase. The Dr herself is really wonderful and the only good thing this used car lot has going for it. My lenses were done incorrectly the first time and then I couldn't even get a hold of them after they took them back to "adjust them". So I'm out $458 for lenses I will never use and have never even received. Do you think they offered a refund? Try again. They tried to justify their incompetence by claiming temporary stupidity. Stay away from this place and use your money for a better cause like your favorite charity or kindling if you're that desperate to burn some cash. read more

I went in today with TWO pairs of glasses that were broken - one lense popped out and the other was totally bent!! I didn't even buy my glasses there and they fixed them for free. AND He gave me a hard case for one of my pairs and offered to give me a color so I could find it in my purse. I travel weekly for work and I happen to have lost my left contact lens and my prescription is expired. This is an emergency as I can't see out of my left eye. All I needed was a copy of my expired prescription. I got the run around and a lot of talk and in an emergency scenario they would not help me. I won't be renewing my prescription here. Went in for a new prescription. Gaylord took care of me and was ever so accommodating. Turns out my prescription was wrong (not their error) and the lens had to be remade. They quickly remade it at no charge and made sure it was correct. I was updated on the progress and when it would be ready so as not to be concerned. I came in to the store today to check my insurance benefits and set up an appointment for an eye exam. Diane was extremely helpful in looking up all my information and answered all of my questions. While I was with Diane, the Optician (Yuriy) repaired my existing glasses free of charge. I did not purchase the glasses they repaired from Pearl, and was pleasantly surprised that they insisted on fixing my glasses and would not even charge me.
