I thought this Ross was fine! Nothing I'd come running back to, but with any Ross it's typically hit or miss and that can simply depend on the day and if they've recently recieved a shipment. They were typical Ross prices, maybe a little more expensive. The line to check out took FOREVER and while I was waiting I heard the women behind me talking about how down hill the store was going with both selection and service. ....and now that I think about it, while shopping, every employee was non stop bitching about everything and everyone! Got there at the opening time, but they didnt open for another 30 minutes. There was about 15 people waiting to go inside. Because we go there when they opened, we got checked out quick and was in and out in 10 minutes. Prices are vary of course. I saw a shirt that was $30 but also some that were $6.99. So prices are decent. read more

My granddaughter went here and her card didn't have enough money. She came out to the car and ran back in to finish the transaction. Julia, the Mgr was rude and made obnoxiously loud comments about not having time for this. Loud enough for the other four customers in line. She was clearly trying to embarrass my granddaughter. I've been here 4 times and the fitting rooms are always closed. It's really annoying for someone like me that browses through clothes and needs to try them on only to walk back and see it's closed. I guess I'll have to check to see if they are ACTUALLY open (the sign on the store entrance said "our fitting rooms are now open!" Worst experience I've ever had at a Ross. We called prior to visiting to ask the closing hours and the person on the phone was quite stern about the closing time. They added and emphasized that they will be closing promptly at 10pm. When we entered the location the first thing we heard was we are closing at 10 come up to the registers prior to the closing time. After finding what we needed and we went to the register and paid for our items. One of our items was a wooden table which after leaving the store we noticed had some damage to the leg. I went back in the store to either return it or get a reduced price. From the moment I told the associate Julie what happened she was constantly being rude because it was near closing time. There was one rude comment after another. I ignored everything so I can speed the process along. I would NEVER return to this store. Julie should be put in some sort of training to learn how to speak to customers. read more

I was shopping at the Halethorpe MD store on thurs 6/20/24 @ approx 8:30, when I was practically assaulted while trying to pay for my underwear. The cashier/ manager slammed her register drawer as hard as she could & yelled, "IM CLOSED" I replied " since she was the ONLY cashier. I said and just how do you suggest I pay for this, she replied in the meanest tone, I DONT CARE WHAT YOU DO, told me to go ahead & leave with the merchandise. I'm not crazy. So when a cashier did show up, I went to her for service, I was told she couldn't check me out, & a male employee at the jewelry counter said , I can't. I was shaking so bad I knew I couldn't drive. I really needed the underwear, so I waited until she went in the back room, then someone said they would ring me up, but I had to get behind people with full carts. I had 2 little items, and paid cash. There should have been no problem. I wondered why she was slamming everything around her. She did that because she made me fearful, due to my PTSD. I was tortured for at least 30 min. Being bullied to the back of the line because of my age and race. I would appreciate someone reviewing the store camera footage. This is reverse discrimination at its worst. I've always been able to shop at Ross's, now I'm afraid to go inside the store. Something needs to be done, esp to this employee, who btw refused to give me contact info. for a supervisor, and forbid anyone else to give me that. It was like a horrible nightmare!!! read more

oh the joy, of finding great bargain deals on clothes. Paying full price for any piece of clothing is really not my style and Ross has contributed to my spending habits, over the many many years. My most recent Ross purchase? (4) cocktail dresses, a pair of designer ("penny loves kenny") heels, an iPad/Nook case and a Jessica Simpson clutch for only $80! That's less than $15 an item. Please tell me where else you can purchase designer duds for let alone $15 a piece... yep, thats what I thought. I have been to many Ross locations in MD: Parkville, Reisterstown & Columbia. All the stores normally carry the same items in stock around similar times.. so if you can't find your size in one store, try looking at some of the others and you may possibly stumble upon it. I've found that I like the clothing deals better at the Parkville location, as they have a larger selection. Reisterstown is good for decor and gifts (especially in the home goods section) and Columbia, well.. I've only been there once but it seemed pretty clean - just a little more unorganized than the other two locations. Overall, the Ross slogan is "Dress for Less" and I must concur that they really aren't lying! read more

I used to love shopping at Ross when I lived in Philadelphia, but this location is trashy -- both in terms of how the merchandise is handled, and the sales people. Wee were there on Friday night, and found clothes just dumped on the floor. I know some customers are slobs but do you think you might want to clean it up? We asked to see a bracelet for a gift but the jewelry was wrapped in a sealed plastic and we weren't allowed to see it properly. Earlier, I had asked a man whose job seems to be to stand at the front of the store scowling if he could open the jewelry from us. He looked annoyed and told us a cashier would have to do that. Of course, he didn't offer to find us the help. The weather was awful and there was hardly anyone in the store, so the 'busy' excuse doesn't apply here. The cashier we had wasn't pleasant either. read more

I used to be a big fan of Ross stores but I've made my last visit to the parkville location. The store is not welcoming at all when you enter. Today it was very sparsely stocked with only the loss prevention staffer to greet me. Ross is generally good for looking for a variety of items and hoping for a pleasant surprise. I went in hoping to find an address book, a planner, and maybe some desktop organizational pieces. Their supply of stationary and office accessories was the worst I have ever seen and it was in complete disorder. I actually stopped a few times around the store to straighten or tidy an display that just looked terrible. It's a reflex from my years of retail work ;) I was able to find some bamboo kitchen organizers that I will use on my desk. In addition I stumbled upon an adorable pirate giftbag. I proceeded to check out with my items. First, they have a very long queue set up, probably left over from the holiday rush, but weeks later, its overkill. The staff member did not greet me when I arrived at checkout. She proceeded to ring up the items as if it was a task not worthy of her time. She rolled her eyes when I said I was paying cash. They have a system in place where they have you take your own receipt, which I personally think is terrible. Rather than close the sale with a "thank you and have a nice day." I was told "take your receipt" and then she called "next guest!" while I was still trying to close my purse and gather my items. I will give a store a pass on its appearance in the throws of the Christmas rush. However, it's January 9th. The store should be presentable and neat. There were very few guests shopping in the store so there was no reason for the mess. Poor customer service is never acceptable. With no attention to how you treat your guests, you are essentially saying that you don't care if they come back. Well message received, I won't shop here again. read more

I LOVE YOU ROSS! Ahh I am now ready to brave the winter chill with my 5 new snuggly, comfy, cute sweaters!! Within 10 minutes of stepping into Ross, my cart was filled with over 10 sweaters I would have happily purchased. All of them were originally $40-$80 and now marked down to under $20 a pop!! I was even more delighted to leave the dressing room in love with all of them. But now what?? I parked my cart in a corner of the store and stood there contemplating until I narrowed my selection down to 5 and walked out of there having spent less than $85! The place is a bit messy, mostly from everyone rummaging through the goodies. But how can I really complain about a place were I leave with 5 things in hand for the price of what 1 once was!? read more

Hit or Miss. Sometimes you are able to come here and find a lot of great items, and other times it's a waste of time. I am not sure which days they receive their shipment, but it seems like they haven't had a shipment in a while. On the bright side, you are greeted as soon as you walk through the door. I have never in my life experienced such terrible customer service. When buying items from here that are heavy like chairs and nightstands, it is a shock that I am unable to utilize the shopping cart to my car. I am expected to carry these items with no help. The security guard just watches you struggle! Me and my 11 year old had to carry this furniture across the parking lot alone! Then at the check out the lady informed me I was taking too long to pull my card out of my wallet and I was going to negatively impact her production rating. Is good customer service the real goal or good production ratings. She was very rude and I will not be returning to this store ever again! To spend over $500 and receive this type of service is disgusting. I don't recommend this store to anybody unless it's a last resort! read more

Today I took my 2 year old daughter to this store to buy her a toy. I stood there as she looked around to choose a toy. She sat on the floor looking at a certain toy when another little girl sat beside her to look at the same toy. Neither my child nor the other girl was opening the package. They were looking at the outside of the box. All of a sudden the loss prevention guy walked up to them and snatched the toy away and walked away with it. Left my 2 year old crying. I talked to a cashier who said she was the manager. Who turned out not to be because she paged the actual manager. Neither of them seemed concerned about what had happened as I was complaining about that security guy. Needless to say I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. What happened to this store? I used to find great quality bargains here but now the shelves are almost empty and the quality has gone drastically down. And it is extremely dirty to the point where I feel like I need to wash my hands after being in there. Severely disappointed on how downhill this place as gone. The shoe aisle was a disaster, they were all over the place, in wrong sizes, one shoe here, the other who knows where? Good luck getting a cart down the aisle because you are just hitting shoes left and right. Some of them even looked like they were worn! The dresses, this is what the place is known for, I have found adorable Jessica Simpson dresses here in the past and have had some success, this time however was the worst! They had very sparse selection of quality items, slim to none. I am not saying that quality has to be a name brand item, but it just seemed like the quality of everything was terrible and wouldn't last more than one wear. The styles also seemed out of date. Again so disappointed because the main reason I came here was to look for a dress... but never again. Housewares, this section is a joke, like I said... empty shelves. Seriously, is this store going out of business? The little to no selection was embarrassing for them. Lastly, and most cringe worthy, their store "policy" at the register is so disrespectful toward customers I was appalled. I was next in line, and there were 3 registers working... one of the ladies working a register said "next in line"... however the person she was checking out was still putting in her pin number for her card... so I took a step forward but ultimately stopped so the woman had her space... then a different register said next in line so I walked down to her, but I didn't notice until I got there that it was the same situation... the woman was still putting in her card info and had all her bags on the register,... clearly "next in line" means "I am almost ready, but not quite, so let me rush this person out of here." Anyway, I apologized because I thought it was a mistake and I felt like I was rushing the poor lady, and the clerk said that it was the store policy and it makes the line go by faster... first of all the line wasn't that long, and me reaching over the previous persons bags to give the clerk my items is completely inappropriate. To cap it all off, the receipt comes out of the machine between you and the clerk and she says... "take your receipt"... so you, the customer, have to tear it off the machine. I have never been to another store where either of these things have happened to me. It seems rude to the customer and just flat out lazy for the clerk. A little respect and common courtesy is not that hard, but they seriously let that go out the window here. I am actually happy to see that other reviews have the same issues that I did with the checkout policy, because it goes to show that I am not overreacting about it... Bargains! Favorite store for years when it comes to finding great deals at low prices. I go here when I need to find something to match an outfit or something for the house for a reasonable price. They are organized, spacious, and have an assortment of things from hair ties to snacks to lamps. Staff is courteous and helpful. Will be returning soon. read more

Ross has a very poor return/exchange/refund policy = customer service. I went to return an item today, for which I did not have the receipt, so I was OK with a store credit. However, they would not give me full price. I could not verify when it was purchased, but they still have the items on their shelves for sale at the same price as was reflected on the ticketed item I was returning. The clerk tried to tell me it was because they had been marked down before, even though the current stock was not marked down. It's either clearance or not. Another example of their lacking in customer service, was when one clerk comes up to relieve another. They chit chat long before they ever acknowledge any of the people standing around waiting to be served. Marshall's surpasses them in both their return/exchange/refund policy and customer service. read more

I'm spending my money in Ross when I see the cashier just balling up my clothes and putting them in the bag I said to her I rather hold the jacket I don't want it to get wrinkled she was pleasant very nice but said Ross executives don't allow them to take time and fold they have to throw them in the bag to move customers quickly read more

Ross Stores in general are great for bargain-priced clothes, shoes and home nick-nacks. I've shopped at some Ross Stores that were clean, bright and organized and I've purchased Calvin Klein, Nine West, Adidas, etc. I am not impressed with this one at all though. -Employees take smoke breaks right by the front door. They stand there in a cluster and smoke. So unprofessional. -The store is always a chaotic mess (which I understand is caused by customers, but the employees need to get a handle on it). read more
