I've been here several times and every time I walk in someone has greeted me. I usually go in the morning when it's not as busy, so I'm not sure where all these bad reviews come from. They have a good amount of merchandise. A lot of cute bags and shoes. This store is much smaller than most of them, but it does the trick if you need a quick present or outfit. We were here a few months ago and had a terrible experience w the Latina manager. I hate to give Ross a bad review as I love these stores albeit sometimes a little pricey but still enjoy the selection . I have to mention the manager is a loose cannon. She was yelling at my friend who is in her 60's over something that could have been handled quietly and quickly. When I say she went on a back and forth for a few minutes across the store was the wildest thing I've seen in my life. I wasn't going to post this because my friend and I talked about it after the fact and realized maybe this lady is on meds, stressful job or maybe she had a bad day etc but I realize as adults we can't excuse this behavior and she has to take accountability. The whole store heard the back and forth , it left me so nervous when I got home I had a headache that lasted about 5 hours. I don't know if it was adrenaline in the moment and once everything settled and we left the store my nerves kicked in . I will say the manager walked over to us when we were in line to try to apologize . We realized she did this because she didn't want us to complain or maybe she finally realized she was wrong , either or highly unprofessional, this lady is unhinged. We haven't been back since . This store is too packed with merchandise. The isles are too tight. If two people are in the isle with a basket one has to literally back up. They do not have enough cashiers. Usually only one or two and the line for check out and returns gets very long. The Ross location on Las Posas is much bigger, brighter and well managed, although for some reason doing returns at this location is tricky because their internet is bad and it takes a while for the register to process. If you live in Camarillo and don't mind going a little farther, try the location on W. Hillcrest in Newbury Park, it's the best one of all. read more

I had a receipt that was 31 days old and they STILL asked for an ID and gave me store credit even though I had paid with cash. I would rate this place 4 stars but the manager here was very rude, I left my cart in one of the alleys to go get a top from a different alley. Once I came back my cart wasn't there. It was with the security guard and she asked the security to tell me not to mix my shopping bags in one cart with the Ross merchandise. She said she wants all my shopping bags to go in one cart and to put my Ross merchandise in another cart thus meaning she wants me to carry two carts around the store???? Mind you I only had two bags from target. She was making racist remarks with another person, saying where she was from and that there's a lot of people here from other places that she doesn't like (I can't remember the names of the other countries she was mentioning ) I think she was looking at me the entire time, and she does seem to pick up at the women there which is unfortunate. I went three days ago and I went today and is was the same a huge line and only two cashier, I talked to the manager today and she still yells at me, that I didn't have to tell her how to do her job, that she was doing the best she could, and she was just standing there looking at people, she still stops a cashier to tell her that She is doing a good job because she is opening all the bags or backpacks to check all the little bags that are not stealing anything instead of leaving her to continue charging. This Ross is in a good location in Camarillo near meighborhood walmart and Target. Plenty of parking and you can usually find good stuff for cheap, the tax rate is cheaper than other counties too! However, last time I stopped by there wasnt the best expierence there was a huge line down the aisles with only two cashiers. One lady kept rambling on talking to her customer, while another employee lady with glasses and head band had her line moving quickly. I'm not sure if there was staffing issues, but by the time I got to front of line, one other cashier got called to open a line, then shortly after another one got called to open a line. By the time I got to the front there was 4 cashiers operating registers. I had spent a bunch of time in line and it was quite irritating. This Ross is very clean with shelves very organized, next time will you please open registers as needed so customer dont have wait in line? read more

I went to Ross today and otherwise talking to someone in line the experience was horrific.I felt I was in jail while shopping at a low end store. I wanted to purchase a pair of slacks I probably wouldn't wear again. Selected same brand 2 sizes. OMG....... I was met by the most theatrical young man I ever met in my life. He waved his arms instructing me to place the clothes I wanted to try on ... onto a rack so he could investigate every pocket. I felt they was being assaulted . I asked why and he gave me some ridiculous reason that kids put things in pockets........I'm 68 and don't stick things in pockets. The pants we're not true true to size after all ....... BUT after all that we had to STOP at the check point again to check the pockets on the way out of the dressing room. Check point in and check point out. I was furious! I tried to calmly explain he had just checked these minutes prior. All he did was ramble. The only thing he was good at was acting like a clown. Waving his arms like he was on stage directing me to the substandard dressing rooms. I have entered and exited foreign countries easier then trying on clothes at Ross. I felt like I was a convicted of theft before I tried on the clothes. BTW the store was almost empty of customers. So maybe insulting customers will not raise sales. I understand that the dressing rooms are closed due to Covid, but I wish the store would make some sort of accommodation - either one person at a time or easier returns. If I could give less stars, I would. I agree with all the negative comments and reviews left here. I have not been a reviewer since pandemic started because I figured everyone deserves a fair shake in this time of strain. However the staff and the management here have NEVER been good, and they have certainly not learned to manage in a time unprecedented in our humanity. Yes, this place is always a mess. There are always multiple staff standing around chatting and not being helpful or professional. There is not even accommodation when customer service is clearly lacking or nonexistent. With a recent return, I had spoken to two managers who both were defensive and incommunicative; Neither made any attempt to, nor did they come close to, understanding when I offered simple compromise. I had to go to HomeGoods just to calm myself down before I went home to be with my family. Please avoid shopping here. No price is low enough for anyone to deal with the low lives of immature, inexperienced, uneducated, and unprofessional employees that work at this location. read more

Every time I visit Ross, I always come across an amazing staff and one particular manager who goes above and beyond. Her name is Katlynn- she's professional, nice, and very service oriented. She's quick and smart and gets you out the door in a matter of seconds!!! This Ross is the best one in the county/ surrounding area. Thousand Oaks sucks, Newbury Park is hit or miss (but VERY clean and never busy, Oxnard is sad, Port Hueneme is currently being run by a Satan of a Manager, and Ventura is too busy) I highly recommend shopping at this Ross and spending the time to find some treasure there. I waited patiently in the return line for 10 minutes only to be told rudely by the cashier that she was closing after the customer in front of me finished. I was the only person in line! Then she walked away. The other cashier hadn't notice me so I moved over to the other line and when I mentioned to her about what happened she just rolled her eyes. No comments or apologies. I don't know what standard or culture Ross wants to uphold, but the employees here require secondary training in customer and public service. Went in to buy a gift for our nephews birthday party. My son who is 3 had to use the restroom really bad. A women named Jennifer who was at the front of the store i believe loss and prevention person told us no that we would have to go elsewhere. My son was about to pee his pants we begged and she said go somewhere else. My husband had to grab my son and run over to target. I just felt like it was very rude. The worst Ross Dress for Less store Ive been to. They: 1) have horrible Customer service. They are too rushed to answer a question. 2) their policy is to super rush customers through cashiier so I've left my credit card there as I was being rushed along. They invite next in line to be helped while you are still hurriedly putting your money away. So fast there are 2 of you at cashier at once. (I was told they are judged by their speed so it's a policy to do this.) 3) They greet you with a "hello" upon entering, & beyond that most of their staff (except fitting room) are cold & unhelpful. 4) Their products are very poor quality-- much better to go to Marshall's & get nicer quality & choices that last longer. read more

Arguably one of the worst experiences I've had in my lifetime. My wife and I entered the Ross store roughly around 5:45pm with our 2 children. (Please be mindful that my wife and I, as well as our children are African-American shopping in a predominately Caucasian area). Upon entry into the store we immediately felt uncomfortable. We were IMMEDIATELY asked if we needed assistance. To which I replied "no, we've just walked into the store." Less than 5 minutes into our So we continued to shop. No more than an additional 5 minutes later another Loss Prevention lady approached us and asked "do you need help." My wife and I responded with "no, we do not, but we are the only individuals you're asking if they need help and we feel you are racially profiling us." She did not respond and continued to walk away. Literally no more than 5 more minutes after, ANOTHER Loss Prevention individual named David came up to us and asked "do you need help." At this point I think you can understand our frustration. I told my wife, "we are clearly being profiled and it's time for us to purchase our stuff and leave." As we are standing in line, my wife asks to speak to the manager on duty. The manager's name was Adriana. With all due respect to her, she had no empathy towards the situation. She stated that "I'm sorry you felt targeted, but you were not targeted." She made no eye contact and to some extent made it seem like the situation was our fault. She seemed to care less. This was another case of racial profiling and I hope someone takes the time to read this. It's unfortunate that this still exists in 2019. Very sad moment to have to tell my children why the "people dressed in black" kept asking us questions about why/what we were doing there. It's great. If you are hunter and up on the latest fashions, go to Ross's, they are a complete discount heaven. If you have never been there, tighten your belt and start marching. You are going to have a lot of fun! Everything is very well priced and top quality. You have to look through a lot of chazzerai, though, to find what you want. I like their lingerie department, for night gowns. They have a very good jewelry department. I've gotten some very nice pieces of jewelry there. Real Jewelry, good jewelry. I've found some rings, bracelets, necklaces, all good stuff that is imported. Very very nice department, with very selective merchandise. I have gotten shoes there, but I can't talk that up too much. Everything is very well priced, 40% below anywhere else. They have everything for the family. They are great for Father's Day and Mother's Day gifts. Fathers Day gifts are shirt and tie and pajamas. And for Mothers Day always a lovely sweater. For the grandkids, everything in sight! They'll return it later, so what? I like socks with cats on them, and think my grandkids should wear them. Maybe one day they will be out of clean socks and I will get my wish. Sometimes my husband sits and reads in the car while I'm inside shopping. He made a doohickey out of wood and the elastic from old underpants that goes over the steering wheel and holds a National Geographic magazine open in front of his face. Either that or he naps. You know the old joke, "my wife and I always hold hands, if I let go, she shops?" That's me. I never try anything on there. I hate getting dressed and undressed. I take it home and if it doesn't fit they have a very good return department. One time I bought these watches that were all wrong, and before I took them back, I don't know how, but some Italian Wedding soup (from Von's, my favorite) got into the plastic bag, and then a little bit into the plastic watch boxes. But I had my receipt, and they gave me the credit, and I bought bath soap! I think where I shop is usually a shoppers paradise. That is certainly true for Ross. I have been coming to this location ever since I moved to Camarillo and have done hundreds of dollars in purchases. I haven't always liked the service but I make it a point to always greet the LP person in the entrance and be as nice the the cashiers as I can-they have a draining job. Today was the worst experience and the turning point at which I decided never to come back. I am moving into a new place and was looking for new items for the house, to include new shower curtains. I was rummaging through the color options and then proceeded down the isle. I heard something fall down, I looked down and it was one of those plastic things stores put on items so they aren't stolen. Idk where it fell from but Idk how to even take one of those apart, much less put it back together. So about 10 mins later, I have found nothing on bathroom items I wanted and decided to pick up the Lucky Brand shoes I had been wanting. I'm turning lanes when a worker there briskly walks by and is flashes an item as he walks on by me and asks if I dropped it. I didn't know what it was because he was moving so quick but I always hear if something I'm carrying drops so I said no. As I find the shoes I want to try on, I notice the same guy post up in front of the aisle I'm in. I'm like, oh maybe he's looking at me bc I'm carrying a back sak (my Nike sak I use as a purse. Makes for a convenient way to carry with less risk of someone stealing it/opening it). So I continue to the next aisle, making eye contact with him and smiling as I go by. He also follows me to the next aisle. And I'm like, ok, idk why this guy is following me around but, clearly he can see the shoes are in the cart, and I'm just perusing. I now go to check the bedding to see if I can find a bed skirt. Once there I see this same dude come to this aisle too. Now I'm feeling super awkward but of course have nothing hide, So I ask if he's following me. He brazenly answers that that's exactly what he's doing and says that he was told that I dropped "this" showing me the metal detector or whatever it's called. Finally I realized what it was and that he's the loss prevention clerk, then it all made sense and I'm like, "oh yeah i heard that fall from the shower section" and he just interrupts me like "uh huh sure I'm just doing my job". Feeling rather insulted that he's questioning my integrity, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt since I understand that his job is preventing loss. I ask if he wants to check my bag and began taking it off. He said no and that I shouldn't take it personally he's doing his job. I said I understand that but now I feel awkward and feel like leaving the store. He said again not to take it personal and that he'll try to be less conspicuous and moved to another aisle. And he started walking away but I said to him, "I'm in the military, I would not do that kinduv thing," he interrupted again and said "I don't know you you don't know me I'm just doing my job". So I started to suggest that he review the cameras that are up in the ceiling all over the store to see that I did nothing. "You guys have cameras you can just look and see that" I said, but he interrupted again and said, "eh, not really". And I said "so what do you want me to do". He said "just keep shopping, I'll try and be less conspicuous." This conversation was very loud as we were each at opposite ends of the aisle, so everyone in ear shot could hear what he was saying to me. Essentially saying I was a suspect for theft. So in thinking to myself, "you want me to act like this isn't embarrassing as an innocent customer and you want me to give you my money when you're following me around like I did something wrong?? I think not!" So feeling completely insulted and upset, I put the shoes back in the aisle, put the cart back in its place and walked out. I work in the United States Air Force for this Nation. I take personal pride in integrity first, and striving to never lie, cheat or steal. Besides that, I've worked at theme parks alongside security and loss prevention personnel. There's a proper way of doing things and it entails taking customer service into consideration. This LP guy didn't do it right. He didn't take the time to investigate properly and he insulted a customer. Additionally, he lost a sale that I had every intention of making today, and lost my business for the company entirely. I will not being going back. Recommend you train your LP to get more professional. read more

Employees are no help. They are not friendly. Fitting rooms close more than an hour before closing. They also dont put up signs indicating that. Threw an attitude when I put my close in the put away section. Maybe tell people when they enter that your entire store isn't available. read more

First of all, have YOU ever been to a store with bars across the windows? I had no idea how ghetto Camarillo was till I walked into this Ross... I've been told they had a cute (and inexpensive) yoga mats there so I've been meaning to go there for some time. After failing to find one closer to my house, I ended up there tonight, after the holiday rush on Sunday evening. It's probably the worst time to ever step into that store. It was understandably in disarray, but I found what I went to get. Yoga mats were right in the entrance area with a few selection of them for less than $9.99 so I was happy. I actually could have bought a bunch of stuff I forgot that I "needed" but in the end I controlled myself. (They had a good selection of cutting boards, place mats, table cloths, coffee table (chest), etc. They do have a great selection of frames for a real good price. Expect no service though as you probably already know. The only employee I saw on the floor was looking angry putting back the stuff on the shelves, kicking the boxes around, not saying a thing, not even making an eye contact like she doesn't want to see people... I think I've been to a nicer, cleaner, and overall better Ross elsewhere. I would shop somewhere else if I have a choice the next time. read more

This Ross is not great for baby things. The one in Thousand Oaks is much better. The baby section was completely disorganized and the selection was slim for both toys and clothes. Also, the restrooms were not clearly labeled. Maybe they have them, maybe they don't. After seeing the skimpy selection of baby things, I didn't even bother to ask. When you actually end up losing something the "Loss Prevention Specialists" (named Christian) don't actually try and help you. We lost the key FOB to our car. When we asked if they (loss prevention specialist & manager) could check the cameras, we were told that the cameras were not actually could have seen anything. They practically told us they were off. Ross is a great place for making your dollar stretch. I have furnished my house, dressed my daughter and me and have even made cocktails with stuff I found at a great price. For a while, the store had been very messy and there was always a long line. It's gotten better though, down to the bra and panty section being arranged by color. And the last few times I've shopped, there has only been 1 person ahead of me in line. But what ever you do...do not go to Ross on Tuesdays. That's when the "Leisure Bus" rolls into this shopping center (from Leisure Village) and everyhting slows down. read more
