The good: This Ross has a big toddler and kids section. The boys section had a ton of Mickey Mouse clothing options. They also had tons of kids shoes. The shelves here are pretty stocked compared to some other Ross locations I've been to. They had a lot of options for pet drink dispensers. The bad: The aisles are a bit more cramped. The registers by the mall were closed so you had to pay at the back side by the exterior entrance. There was no bathroom inside. I saw some bags of candy opened and spread everywhere. Their backpack selection for kids looked really cheap. Some of their furniture pieces were more expensive than I expected ($130+ for some of the side tables I was looking at). I Love coming to Ross Dress for Less on Tuesdays especially because 55 plus 10% discount days. This one is close to my work. I always find something that I like at any Ross. Every time you walk in the doors you are greeting hello and every time you leave you are greeting a goodbye and if I found everything I needed. I will forever come to Ross. A lot smaller than most Ross stores I've been to. With the holidays around the corner, every corner has been inundated with tons of seasonal items which probably accounts for why the entire place just seemed so cramped! I felt a bit claustrophobic for a second. I grabbed a few non-essential items and got in line to pay. There was a bit of a long line (understandably) but the cashiers were quick to get us customers outta there! So, yeah, that was pretty impressive! The huge plus about this store is that it's located in a mall. Not my usual store, but I'd come back to satisfy the curiosity of seeing how it's like on normal non-holiday times. read more

Whoever manages this store has parents that are brother and sister. While it is in no way the cashiers' faults that they are so monumentally understaffed, it is absolutely management's fault that so few people are scheduled here, resulting in long lines. The staff are friendly, they do the best they can considering the unreasonable conditions they're in. But it's not fair to them, nor to the customers that so few of them are scheduled just so a manager can look like they shaved a few dimes off the budget. read more

I wish there were no stars for this one, it deserves none! On December 26th I went to Ross just before noon to browse and look for a trash can for my daughter's room. After arriving I looked around through the clothing then headed back to look for a trash can. The Store was low stocked of EVERYTHING but understandingly the day after Christmas. I found a trash can that I liked with a ding in it about the size of a quarter. Upon arriving to the checkout line (which was VERY long) I patiently waited in no hurry and in very good mood UNTIL I was called to the checkout stand. As I was putting my 3 ITEMS on the counter I wanted to inquire about the damaged trash can. The Associate swiftly said, "put your things on this side" and kind of tilted her head to the other side. I immediately detected an attitude. She proceeded to scan my other two items WITHOUT greeting me 1st, was so dry and rude as she told me to place my "right in front of HER" items to the other side of the counted window. After watching her scan the other items, I asked could she discount the damaged trash can; being that there wasn't another one back there and before I could finish my sentence, she said I can give you 20% off and that's with no returns and final sale... talking to me like I'm a "60" year old child! I know policy on damaged returns and didn't expect more. No yiung lady, don't speak to me like that. My work is with "at risk" and troubled youths and young adults, so my 1st comment was going to be to counsel in a positive way, even through her attitude was pissing me off! I said you know what young lady, you have a very rude and nasty attitude to be dealing with the public. I then went on to tell her that I was having a good day until I came to you. All the time I was saying this to her, she had a blank resting face and didn't say a word which made me even more upset! I thought I was getting pranked! I then asked for a manager and she said that she was... what???? She's in a management position??? No good Ross. I was a Police Dispatcher for 25 years before I retired over 15 years ago and have trained many. I would have felt better if she would have said anything! I was so upset leaving that I turned back and asked her for her name, she pointed at the receipt as I looked for an ink pen, she said that's what we go by. I then asked if she was the only other manager there and she pointed across the way to another young lady on a register. It was busy very but I asked if I could speak to her for a minute because the lines were so long, I didn't want to pull her away. I briefly told her what happened and she apologized and I told her that I was going to do Ross' survey and a Yelp post. ASSOCIATE #203439 has the worse Customer Service that I have ever seen! I'm not the "crazy" people you see in stores making scenes. This is the 1st time that I experienced this 1st hand. I'm courteous and expect the same from Merchants I patronize. I lived in Carson for 35+ years and work closely with most organizations, agencies, City Council and businesses here in Carson one way or another. This was Customer Service at it's worse! read more

The customer service went well. I walked in and Gabriella greeted me. I left quickly because this Ross didn't have what I was looking for. As I was leaving Gabriella said thanks for shopping. Her customer service was on point. I've never been greeted like that at any other Ross. Good job. Customer service has to be excellent and even though they didn't have what I was looking for, I loved the customer service from Gabriella. And another lady was leaving at the same time as I was and she agreed about Gabriella's customer service. read more

Standard Ross, but it is a lot smaller than other Ross Dress for Less stores out there. Also, this means less employees, even during this holiday season. It has been mildly chaotic, and stuff is everywhere! Despite the above, this Ross is still a convenient spot to hit up if you're from around these parts of town. read more

This new location opened 3 weeks ago and unfortunately it is in disarray. I've gone twice, trying to support my neighborhood, however both times racks and shelves are quite empty, 2 cashiers with one handling both sales and returns. The aisles are super tight so maneuvering a basket is tough and anyone with kids will have a hard time. It's clean, it has plenty of merchandise, though, like ALL discount stores...they run out and it seems they re-stock every two weeks?? 20700 Avalon Blvd Ste 102, Carson, CA 90746, at this Ross, I had purchased a small sofa. I had asked for assistance to take it to the register which an associate did, however, once I paid for my sofa and other things, I asked who would help me and a gentleman in a loss prevention vest told me to bring my car to the front of the store. Once I brought up my car I went inside to let them know I was there to pick up sofa, and I was told he wasn't allowed to go outside. I was denied assistance in taking my sofa to my car which was less than 30 feet away. I am a petite woman, and it was embarrassing to struggle to take the sofa to my car. The lack of customer service and assistance from this store was poor. I have worked in retail and you always assist customers especially if you are a store that sells big furniture items. I am so disappointed in the service I received at this store that I will try not to go back anymore. I understand if it was policy and I had a manager tell me the situation, but for me to struggle to carry something as almost as big as myself, that is ridiculous.
