looking for a dr doom shirt in XL, don't have it. asked an employee with a red back pack and black hair if she had anymore stock and said she would go check if they had any. As me and my girlfriend wait and look around we noticed as we were walking around she didn't even go check if the shirt was in stock as my girlfriend caught her hiding in the corner. I've worked at this store before and know that back door to the stock room is loud and echoes through the store. I tried to find a employee complaint form online but Unfortunately couldn't find anything. When I was in the store today i was patiently waiting for my next turn in line to be checked out. As it was my turn and I was stepping forward, a worker (i'm assuming to be a manager because she was telling other employees what to do), tapped on the counter for me to come faster like a dog. I cant remember if she said anything but she literally tapped her finger on the counter and was looking at me as i was already walking forward. Some decent human being respect would be nice. She was also giving this passive aggressive and weirdly rude vibe to every customer in the store i even overheard a couple say something about her customer service. The staff is always super friendly and helpful which makes me always drop in when I'm at the mall which is unfortunately not often at all nowadays. The store is small and jam packed with merch to please the fangirl snd fanboy in all of us, no matter what our fandom is. Because the store is small there is a limit of how many customers can enter due social distancing. You stand outside until an associate calls you in. I understand that gone are the days of when Hot Topic was really really dark and blasting with heavy metal and death metal music, fog, etc. like an underground European dungeon gimp and dominatrix show..... so no need to overindulge in South Park member berries!!! It's been a lonnnnnnng time since those days and it's still weird to me that they play pop music and the atmosphere is almost as bright as a Target store. This particular Hot Topic is awesome because they have a really nice staff, along with a great collection of Funko pops, nerdy, rock and even wrestling-related stuff!!!!!!!! Not just like WWE, but also some NJPW New Japan Pro Wrestling stuff!!! I literally get to purchase shirts of wrestlers whom I've worked with for almost 2 decades.... from The Young Bucks, to SCU: So Cal Uncensored's Frankie Kazarian, Christopher Daniels and my bro (since we were high schoolers) Scorpio Sky!!! It's such a trip that I and others can purchase a damn Bullet Club shirt, jacket, backpack from Pro Wrestling Tees and a WWE Shop shirt at the same freakin' time. Really.... it's a surreal dream come true, which brings out the kid in me. Since it's inside of the Del Amo Mall, they have a huge abundance of parking. My item came in a loose plastic bag and completely crushed. When I reached out for a replacement they said they are not responsible for damaged boxes and this is how they normally are shipped! So I went to Hot Topic to buy some shirts and gifts. They are advertising "Buy 1 Get 1 30% off" on apparel, and "Buy 1 Get 1 50% off" on jewelry. So I figure, "Great! I can get more shirts, and an extra gift for my girl." So I procure my items and proceed to check out. The cashier rings me up, gives me my total. I ask, "That's with the discounts, correct?" I received no response. I asked a second time; still no answer. So I pay for the items, and the cashier places my receipt at the bottom of the bag then places my items on top of it. After I leave, I check the receipt. Not only did the cashier not apply the advertised discounts, but I was charged a completely different price than the one advertised on the price tag. So congratulations, Hot Topic - you stole money from me. You also stole 3 hours and 35 minutes of my time - the 35 minutes I spent in your store, and the three hours of work I wasted, because you took three hours of my meager pay from me. Shame on you for false advertising discounts, and shame on you for putting false price tags on your merchandise. I'd advise buyers to avoid the Hot Topic at Del Amo in Torrance - they are crooked. The only reason they got one star is because the sales floor member, Randall, was really nice and super cool. Other than that, avoid this place at all costs, BEFORE it costs! I am not always a big fan of hottopic and very rarely go into one. When I do I always look for new sailor moon tops or outfits. I decided to go in yesterday because I had hot cash. The last couple times I have gone to hottopic I have been in search of this pink sailor moon suspender dress. Every time I find it, it's never in my size . Yesterday was the same case. I found it in store but it was one size too small. One size too small isn't a big deal but I do have a booty so one size too small doesn't always work. One of the employees asked me if I had any questions and I let her know I was looking for this dress suspenders. She begins looking for it at other stores in the area and in the state. She tells me they don't have it anymore it's sold out and no other store has it in the size I'm looking for. She begins to tell me that she thinks it will fit and convinces me to buy. I got it super cheap with my hotcash and I had $10 in points. Later on I tried the suspender on and it fit perfectly. I almost cried. I have been looking for this in my size and to be able to finally get it was the best thing that could have happened. I didn't catch the employees name but she deserves a huge shout out. If it wasn't for her I would have left it and missed out. Best experience I have had at a hottopic. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I recommend coming to this hottopic. read more

The store was nice and the merchandise exceeded my expectations forms it's selections from anime to band merchandise, almost every employee was friendly and nice to me except for this young fellow I've happened to had a horrible experience with. I had to start a yelp account to complain about this young associate named Rene, he was awful with communication as he couldn't hear me as I lifted up my mask to sound more clear and yet he shrugs me off with an attitude I've never experienced in my time of shopping. He rang me up for some things I've bought for my daughters, they especially love this anime show with the hero's, he jammed everything in the bag without a care in the world and ignored almost everything I said to tell him I didn't want certain items such as a jacket and shirt, he also kept on insisting for me to join a loyalty program after I specifically said no twice, can you believe that? I said twice as if it were a big deal, yet he doesn't seem to care. This one employee is the reason why I would never consider coming back to this store or anything other hot topic chains around CA, I neither want to recommend this store to anybody in general.
