Stopped by here for quick view of their shoes. I am in need of some new tennis shoes for playing cardio tennis. Parking lot was very busy here but was able to grab a spot. Once in, had to wait as they crowd control how many consumers can be in store at once. I was happy at the selection of shoes at this store. I found four pair of sneakers. Ended up pulling the trigger on two of them. Ultimately got a nice pair of Nike court vision shoes for $44. Very good deal. Additionally got a pair of Salomon Drx Bliss $44 (retail $160) shoes which are traditionally running shoes but they were a perfect fit. Neither shoe had a box. However I am keeping these so don't need a box. Overall good experience at the store. Several grooming items available and good selection of hard to find perfumes. Always wanted Sunflower by Arden and couldn't leave at store for $10.99. I also saw some White Diamonds perfume for sale which was a big hit back in the day. read more

I didn't even realize that Ross was in my area. The other day I decided to check them out and I was pleasantly surprised at all the deals I found for my kitchen. They are excepting returns/exchange which is great because the knife set I picked up was not in the best condition. SN: The return/exchange line is seperated from each other. Now for the important part you have to wear a mask, social distantings is in place but some customers don't follow the rules. They have hand sanitizer in the front of the store and there was one at my register. They only allow a certain amount of people in the store at a time and they wipe down the carts. The dressing room is closed but you can return for now if it doesn't fit. The employees I interacted with very nice and with the two I talked to you could see their smile through their mask...I mean one of them did have a mask with a smile imprinted on it but was only a positive. I know people want some type of normal and with all the stress of what is going on in the world, I found myself enjoying my experience. Thank you Ross and the employees. As always Enjoy! read more

There is something about this location where nothing survives for long. This has to be the 3rd or 4th thing in 10 years that has been on 47th street in this area. I have had moderate success with a robe, intimates, stockings and socks, but I leave empty-handed more often than not. I should look for housewares instead. We went to replace some gloves that had been lost, and there was NOTHING but 1 pair of running gloves. Is it too early or too late? We don't need snow/single digit gloves, just regular women's chilly weather gloves. How are there no gloves to be found in October? We will re-visit near the end of the month. read more

Went in Ross's the other morning and the sign said exit at the entrance. I peeked around the sign and it said entry in exit so I chose this route. Security went to doing a jig and flapping his wings, ranting and raving! Like I was deficient in entering a phucking store. He proceeded to tell everybody not to serve me. I grab phone gonna call corporate, here comes manager and I showed her the sign which had been corrected by security. Invariably I was shopping and was not pleased with their wares. I love Ross in general for all of the great deals on kitchen gadgets, linen and housewares, gourmet food and snacks. Sometimes I can even find a good deal on tops, sundresses, skirts, or accessories. This location, though? Not so much. But that's alright, because I can always manage to find something I need (ok, fine--want!) anyway. The stores puts me in mind of TJ Maxx or Marshall's, but with lower prices, so that's A-OK with me! read more

This is a convenient Ross right off 47th St. Lake Shore Drive. I've had consistently great luck with home decor and furniture here, whether it's bath rugs, area rugs, feather pillows, high count bed sheets, patio chairs, and even an armchair at bargain prices. Know how to quality test and your materials, and there are unbeatable bargains to be found. Admittedly, there are cheaply made stuff here, too, and you have to be patient shifting through things or making multiple trips. This is a good Ross. The store is always clean and well organized. They have a good selection of men's clothing, no matter what you're looking for. The house goods such as tables and decorative pieces are pretty good. We have gotten several pieces from there for our living room. The staff is friendly enough. Sometimes the lines are pretty long, so be prepared. They also have a great selection of luggage. read more

It's about damn time a discount store made it to the Kenwood/Hyde Park area! Considering how the city treats the South and West Sides at large, this, in a sense, is "progress". The inventory is reasonably priced (except that fabric ottoman for $50, c'mon now, lol), so I have no complaints....except for the fact that the location may not restock a lot of items. So if you see something you like, you better buy it right then and there because you may not see that item EVER AGAIN! Did I mention it is ANIMAL FRIENDLY? YASSSS! Your pooch, cat, ferret, lobster or that endangered dodo is welcomed in the store and they don't have to be a service animal! My Coco came in ( she needed some PJS, yup, PJS) and had a blast with the employees and now everyone loves her whenever I bring her along! If you haven't walked into this store yet and you live in the area, you officially suck! read more

Store is really empty. Very few selections for everything. I asked the cashier to double bag my pillows and she said she can only give me one bag. So I asked for a large bag to pack my other stuff in. She gave me a medium bag and when ask asked her again she was like "you mean Extra Large?!" Point is: she made a huge fuss about a freaking bag! This is the letter I'm writing to corp ..I will Edit upon there response To whom it may concern The reason for me writing this letter to corporate is because I was totally disrespected and embarrassed due to one of your employees at the Hyde Park Chicago location by the name of Jill (9/12 @ 1705). As I entered the store I was greeted as normal when I venture into this location.. I must admit this was becoming one of my favorite locations bc I tend to come to this area when I leave my Job on the North side of Chicago. I like this location bc I feel it's clean safe and has a great deal of parking with activity going on Oh and lots of great finds.. Any who.. I just made a purchase at this same location on Friday June 8th around 1816 when I purchased 2 dress's for my friend whom is a plus size woman and a pair of Ugg boots for myself .. I wasn't even shopping for myself; I was actually coming to get a gift for my friend. Me personally I wear juniors, but when I shop I shop for friends and family all the time due to the great deals "Hello" It's like a treasure hunt for me /me time. So my reason coming back like I really need a reason to come back into "Ross". Great deals you can't lose. I stop at all the Ross's that's along my route before I return to the suburbs .On the weekends I go to the one in Homewood, Crestwood, Matteson and sometimes Orland. I have been shopping at Ross ever since I went to FL maybe 5 years or longer ago .. I had to beg my family to take me to the outlet store they wouldn't (I luv to shop) so I got my in-laws car and was able to do a little traveling on my own when I stumbled across Ross in Fl .. My first time ever then months after that I noticed we had one in the south suburbs closer to home so it really got crazy then.. I even stopped going to my fav TJ Maxx..Yes bc of Ross, I'm no longer a Maxxinista or Marshall girl .. Up until the very Moment when Jill the cashier decided to tell me (doing a return) "when did you purchase this " I mean you have the sales slip in hand and the clothing with all tags attached.. I said only a few days ago.. She then walks away to another associate to so called whisper and point.. (Pointing is so rude she did it about four times) She's trying to return worn clothing and they smell like Mildew Oh my god.. I said excuse me? What? Oh first she comes to say the clothing felt wet. How and why would I even think of returning anything wet/damaged? I said no sweetie the bag is cold from the air and it's a thick plastic bag from Akira(I didn't know what she was getting at the time. She had it out for me at that very moment) the other clothing store I shop at times .. I then began to touch the 2 shirt dresses and notice no there is nothing wet or damp about my return. So as she was over talking to sales associate # 714689 everyone in the store line is looking at me in disgrace.. Associate # 714689 goes "It does have a little smell to it" I put my hand in the air and said I swear to god on the bible this was just purchased on Friday 9/8/2017 the merchandise never left my "2015" car and this was never worn or wet with anything . My friend Marlena whom tried the shirt dress on outside couldn't even button it at all.. I put the bag right back in my car and that was it and this was on Monday 9/11.. I noticed the dress/shirt itself was really wrinkled but I thought nothing of that when I made the purchase .. So Jill the associate of "Ross" takes the merchandise to another associate who tries and tries to smell but I guess smells nothing tells her to take it up with the manager associate #714689 which she saw how Jill disrespected me with no regards of me being a customer .. There is a better way to talk to your customers whom make it possible for you or anyone to have a job. You wouldn't of course have a job if it wasn't for people like me (Shopaholics) and I know a few people I can name on hand that need employment as of now and would never do such a thing( A job is a blessing). As associate # 714689 stated " I'm sorry for that I will do the return but we don't normally take back worn clothing" ..I stated if the clothing was worn or Mildewed that's the way I brought it then I mention to here I brought lots of underwear back in May of 2017 me and 3 of my other friends and I only got to wear 1 bra after pulling all the tags off and packing my clothes I didn't notice until I got to Memphis some of the bras were not stitched properly I even had one Bra where the strap was hanging on a thread and the under wear was just awful that's a whole other story.. I spent about a good $60 on underwear and wasn't able to return bc it was just that underwear. I never made a fuss about it I just took it as a loss. That's when I told my mom she said sometimes things in stores like this tend to set up and dry rod and sometimes they might even buy from other stores that are going out of business that's how were able to get an even better deal but it's not a deal if I read more

Ross is my favorite store for buying brand name items for a cheap price. The Ross on 47th is the best Ross that I have been to. The store is big and always clean. This one also has hidden gems and if you look hard enough, you'll find good deals. I once found an Anne Klein pea coat for $20 after spending two hours walking around the store. I like to stop by the home section every time I go there. There are some unique pieces and, without fail, the prices are a lot cheaper than the department stores. For example, I found a comforter set for $40 there. When I went to JC Penny, I found the same set for $150. Every time I want to purchase something, I'll stop by Ross first to see if I can get lucky and find it there. read more

So in the beginning I wasnt too much of a fan because there was a limited selection of things to choose from. But over time this store has improved big time! There's always more people in it now, and they have great decorative things like canvas paintings which I love for my room and I just recently bought a night stand and a chair for my room so don't underestimate what great things you might find here. read more

Thrilled to have this store in the Hyde Park/Kenwood/Woodlawn area. It's a lot like TJMaxx and Marshalls in terms of selection (clothing, home goods, toiletries, etc.) and prices. I haven't seen much advertising so I'm not sure how many people in the area are aware that Ross is in the neighborhood or what its selection is like. I went there today and purchased some high-end shampoo & lotion for $2.99/bottle and nice glassware for $6.99 per 4 glasses. I will definitely be back! I love having this store so close to where I live. I usually get more excited about the home items and accessories than the clothes, but I've also found many great clothing items there. You do need to go frequently in order to get the best selection since they get new inventory in several times a week. I took off one star because the tall security guard walked away from my cart full of purchases and left it unattended after he said he'd watch them while I went to get my car. Not good! :( read more

I'm a TJ Maxx/Marshalls girl and have never been in a Ross where I've found clothing in my size and style. This one is no exception - no selection of clothing in my size and what's there is quite ugly. The "knick-knack" sections are filled with great finds for me, though. The isles are pretty empty (or were when I was last there, in March), but I still found some thing I had been looking for (double-walled glasses, an awesome pizza stone, electric tart burner, etc.) for great prices. So for me, this place is a "no" for clothing and shoes and a "yes" for other junk. I wouldn't stop in here if I didn't live close. The people working here have always been friendly. read more

I actually LOVE shopping at ROSS (which is the reason for the 3 stars "A-OK". If I had to rate this particular store on customer service, it would have to be 1-star. The only person who is friendly is the greeter(s) who stands at the podium when you enter and when you leave. Always pleasant and thanking you for coming in. The cashiers and managers leave a terrible taste in your mouth for sure. You stand in line FOREVER!!! There are typically 7 registers and you're lucky if 2 cashiers are working. The manager who seems to be on duty is Ashley... the cashiers will call for her, and instead of jumping on a register she'll be laughing and joking with other staff and not at all concerned or worried that there are customers waiting in extremely long lines. One particular occasion, I stood behind a man who asked aloud "Why do we have to wait in line so long", Ashley - the manager - replied (in front of a long line of customers). "We had a bunch of call offs today" - instead of apologizing for the long wait. Why is it the customers business to know that Ross has had call offs :-( If you get lucky to have her at the checkout counter, for a manager, her professional standards need some help. She mumbles, "hihowareu" and then barely says "haveagreatday" very dryly.... for a store that continues to get new merchandise that fills the shelves, and is a wonderful addition to our neighborhood, ROSS needs to step up their customer service and hire seasoned, friendly managers and hire more cashiers to prevent customers from having to stand in line for 30+ minutes.
