We came here for Bronzeville Nights. There was a DJ out front and some tables, as the occasion was marked with catered (lukewarm) food and drinks. There were 2 racks that were $20 only, so I limited myself to those, but there were some cute outfits that tempted me. The salespeople were helpful and glad to see us. A dressing room is available, but I am not crazy about dressing rooms in the Middle of the shop. settled on some black leggings by a designer called 'Lady Mocha'. It's a very good selection for full figured women (but I am not..well never mind) and my party got something too. It's out of my way but I'd consider going back for a sale. read more

My experience at Bronzeville Boutique was a pleasant one. I stopped by one afternoon to find a dress for an event I was attending that same evening. When I took the dress to the counter to purchase it the owner noticed a small tear, she repaired it on the spot in about 30 minutes. The clothes are fun, trendy and the prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. I found the perfect dress for a Black Tie event that was sexy yet conservative enough. I got so many compliments when I wore it. Those who attend Black Tie events know that a good dress can be costly, so purchasing the perfect black dress for under $100 was an absolute steal. The owner and her associates were friendly and very attentive. I was pleased with my experience, and I definitely plan to return soon. I really....really.....really want to love Bronzeville Boutique ("BB"). The concept is exactly what young women in the neighborhood want and need. However, I will agree with Brigitte, the markup is pretty frustrating, and the quality of the clothing has become insulting. To distract you from all of this, the place isn't very well lit. And, as others mentioned, the "dressing room" is the corner of the main floor with a curtain around it. You're so busy ensuring your rear isn't sticking out, you're not noticing that the zipper is catching the dress in its teeth; or that rhinestones and buckles are committing suicide by jumping off garments to their death. My most recent purchases (most of which I haven't even worn yet) are literally unraveling before my eyes. (Like...suddenly....why have these hems come undone? Why is this rosette falling off? Who knew hanging in a garment bag in a dark closet was so stressful.) With BB's very restrictive exchange policy, customers are left with no recourse....but, of course, to never shop there again. I really hope your experiences are better if you choose to go, because I'd like Lady Mocha to succeed in spite of my personal disappointment. Perhaps if she switches suppliers all would be much better. If she doesn't, make sure you thoroughly inspect every piece you buy, and take a friend with you to confirm the staff's nodding while they say "that's HOT girl".....as they will happily sell you trash. read more

I have waited a very long time to give a review on this store! I lived in the Bronzeville Area during the time that the store opened. Being fashion forward, i was always intrigued by the beautiful items in the window. I must admit this boutique has beautiful clothing and accessories, however the service i received, was unacceptable. When shopping at a boutique, i expect to find one of a kind clothing that will not be reordered. I purchased a jumpsuit last year for $150. The jumpsuit was absolutely beautiful and it was the last one on the mannequin. I was urged to purchase it because it was the last of its kind. Well, a month later i came into the store and there was the same jumpsuit in 3 different colors with what seemed like endless inventory. My issue with that is, when spending that kind of money on an item, I would not expect for a store to reorder the item especially at that capacity. To top things off, I found two other boutiques who were selling the exact same item for $105. I do expect for companies to make a profit.... that is completely understandable, but after doing my research, I found that the item was $42 per unit. (No wonder they decided to reorder a bus load with such a large profit margin.) I also purchased a bracelet for $60 the same day i purchase the jumpsuit. Well... I went on Clark and Wilson and purchased the same (exact) bracelet for $8. This is not being profitable, but taking advantage. The mark up is outrageous in the store, but this is not what prompted me to stop shopping there. It seemed as though every time i came into the store, It would be one extreme or the next in the way i was treated. Either i would be completely ignored (if i wasn't "dressed" for the day) or i was attacked and aggressively followed around the store as if i was the only customer they had that day. I explained that i wasn't big on rhinestones, however they kept trying to force the tacky rhinestoned shirts and sweaters on me. The sales people were aggressive to the point where it was a turn off. After an experience that i had about an exchange (for a larger size, after a nearly $500 purchase- story too long to tell) I vowed that i would never shop at a place who didn't appreciate my support again. I also haze my friends when they mention the store. They all know how passionate i am about business, professionalism, and customer service and i was not at all impressed. So when the email was sent to do a review on Yelp, 3 of my friends forwarded it to me, and i am gladly sharing my experience. *Disclaimer* I have not stepped foot into this store in over a year and a half, so maybe, just maybe, the service and prices have changed. read more

I agree with Kenya....the quality of the clothing could be a lot better. A lot of the pieces are boutique priced with Dots craftsmanship. The store is teeny weeny and the makeshift dressing room (curtain over a corner) doesnt seem reliable to me. The upside is that the staff is extremely helpful and live up to their motto of "dressing people." I'm pretty fashion forward and dont require much help, but if you are in need of their services, they will hook you up from head to toe. You can also be sure that you wont see everyone rocking what you have on...well except for that time that I saw a girl in Atlanta with my "exclusive" earrings. And I agree with one of the yelpers below...they do have some pretty haute accessories. What I Love: the e-flyers and videos - the art. the fashion. the creativity. the pieces are smartly priced and the customer service is definitely above average. I appreciate the nail tech discounts. What I don't Love: lack of space and privacy in the dressings room, I'm very uncomfortable with curtains and I'm not a fan of changing in a rest room-- I'm funny like that. Wandered in here seeking something to wear for my friend's 30th and I was immediately greeted with a high level of enthusiasm (granted, there were three staff members and I was the only shopper, but they could have busied themselves doing other things). After informing them of what I needed, they guessed my size perfectly and proceeded to select several items that I never would've picked for myself but that flattered my frame. I was impressed. After choosing my dress, I was shown several accessory items to compliment my outfit based on the direction I wanted to take. This place totally sucks and is not worth it. My last experience here gently reminded me of why I DO NOT COME TO THIS STORE ANYMORE. To make a long story short.. I only came back here to use a discount that I received on the radio. I bought two items that totaled $90 even after the 20% discount. So when I came back THE NEXT DAY to exchange the dress for a size up, the lady who worked there refused to transfer my 20% discount to my exchanged dress. Instead, she suggested that I pay the FULL PRICE DIFFERENCE, hence, not using my discount at all. Because the concept of actually doing good business escaped her, and the other 2 ladies working there... I just decided to keep the dress I already bought. I must say that I LOOOOOOVE, LOVE, LOVE this store. EVERYTHING and I do mean E-VER-RE-THING, I've purchased at the boutique has been a huge success with my friends. This place is the bomb. The price points are great and the fashion is off the chain. I'm an accessory whore so all of the pieces they sell are unique and so eye catching and off the chain gorgeous. Each time I go in there I easily spend about 2 to 300 dollars on jewelry (I know...thats sad). But its so hard to put them back. I always tell the ladies (Especially Z...she's awesome) that I have a limit on spending and I always go over it. lol... The entire staff at the boutique is just wonderful. If something looks good on you they say "it looks good" but if its not for you, they will let you know that too. Which I love...cause just because I think it looks good doesn't always mean it does. Overall, this boutique has cute clothes. I really appreciate the fact that there is a nice selection of plus size items. However, the clothes are typically made of cheap material (think rainbow, rave, debs...) and are EXTREMELY overpriced. You can easily find most of the items online by goggling "club wear". Same cheap spandex bodycon dresses for under $30 bucks..meanwhile, this boutique is selling them for $60. The shoes are worse! Cheap club shoes priced at $100+. I don't mind spending money..I just don't like over paying for poor quality. This is the place to go if you need a unique look last minute. In other cases, I suggest shopping online. read more

I had a great time shopping at Bronzeville Boutique for the first time. When my mother and I arrived we were warmly greeted as we approached the door. Street parking was easy as well. They carry small-3x in several unique styles. The fabrics are nice. They currently have a sale so we were able to get a discount. As well as a free lip gloss or lipstick. I chose the lip gloss. I would like to say first the clothing is "OK"....If I am going to spend that kind of money on clothes (especially with no name on it) I want the quality to be excellent. I brought a dress and a jumper at their half off sale. I love both pieces but the dress stitching was missing in 3 spots. Also, I noticed on a few pieces that the threading on the clothes was snagged and of poor quality... their where no tags in my clothes to give me cleaning instructions or even a size of the item....And the biggest thing was the customer service was horrible. When I went back to return the item, they stood there and talked amongst themselves and I was standing there for a good 5mins while they were helping an employee try on outfit's!! My thing was...she work there, help the customer first. I did not like the fact that I had to try on my clothes in a public bathroom....meaning every different kind of I DON'T KNOW WHAT has been in that bathroom.....and the one changing room is super small with a curtain for privacy. Now that is all the negatives, I have a few positive...s they finally helped me the day I returned the dress....The one worker help me by giving me a pair of earrings to go with my dress....They agreed to send it out to be fixed but I could not wait on it to come back...was wearing it to a wedding...and I looked really cute!!.....She also gave me a I LOVE LADY MOCHA tshirt which I probably will give to my daughter..... I won't say I will never shop there again. I just hope they improve their customer service skills and quality of clothes...Whomever their manufacture is they need to find a better one!!!....That is all!! read more
