As I walked into Ross, I was greeted at the door by a friendly employee with great customer service. I started a new job and needed long-sleeved dress type shirts. I took the shirts to the dressing room. I had 8 shirts, and the employee gave me a plastic card with the number 8. After trying on all the shirts, I was heading out of the dressing room, giving staff the card back and 2 shirts, I kept 6. This is a BIG Ross. They have a lot to offer. Please keep in mind that these stores do a lot of volume and that chaos in the racks at times is expected. You can find some great stuff here. The cashier named Steph was honestly really rude. There was a boy before me, and I could hear how she was talking to him. She said something like, "Why are you returning this?!" in a loud tone, and it just felt unnecessary and kind of disrespectful. Then when it was my turn, she couldn't find the tag on the item I was buying. She asked me when I got it and if I saw the tag, and I told her yeah, it was around $20. Instead of checking properly, she told me to go find the tag and come back. When I looked at the item myself, the tag was actually there the whole time, and she didn't even say sorry. After I paid, she told me to remove the bag and grab my stuff, again in a pretty rude way. The whole interaction just felt off. It didn't feel like good customer service at all it honestly sounded like she hates her job. read more

While waiting in line, I had a customer claim I cut her in line. I'm visibly Hispanic, as is my wife. The customer said "Well in America, we don't cut people in line". My wife and I did not like that comment and pointed out the racial undertones of that comment. The Loss Prevention, Darryl, intervened and escalated the situation. Darryl got into my face, failing to maintain a safe distance. My wife and I paid for our items. I advised Darryl to maintain a safer distance in future interactions. Darryl shouted "Okay, you fucking joke". I turned around, he said "You heard me. You fucking joke! Come back inside!" I re-entered the store, spoke to the manager, got all relevant information, and exit the store. Ross WAS my wife's favorite store. read more

I had an extremely upsetting and racially charged experience at this Ross location that I feel compelled to share. While shopping, I encountered a woman who made an ignorant and racially insensitive comment toward me and my husband, stating that "it's the American way to be courteous," implying that I somehow didn't belong or wasn't behaving in a way she deemed acceptable. Instead of de-escalating the situation, the security guard named Darryl stepped in--not to defuse the tension, but to back her up. He proceeded to make dismissive comments, saying that "younger generations don't know real racism," clearly attempting to invalidate my experience and egging her on even further. When we stood up for ourselves, the situation escalated. The security guard got aggressively close to my husband, calling him a "joke" and telling him to come back inside the store--as if trying to provoke a physical altercation to the point I genuinely believed the guard was going to attack my husband. Instead of taking the bait, my husband calmly asked for his information. At that point, the guard falsely accused him of using a racial slur, which absolutely never happened. It was a blatant attempt to shift blame and paint us as the aggressors when we were simply defending ourselves against discrimination. This experience was disturbing, hurtful, and completely unprofessional. No one should feel racially targeted or unsafe while shopping--especially not in a store that claims to welcome all customers. I hope Ross seriously investigates the conduct of the security guard involved. There needs to be accountability and better training in place to prevent these kinds of situations from happening again. I love this store. Even though it is a the isles might be small and there might be bad options, there are always hidden gems. A lot of people just have to get over the fact they are not shopping in a target or Nordstrom rack. There is always great clothing finds and a large variety. There is probably goi g to be a line but that's not there fault and it means there are a lot of people who shop there. This Ross is known to hide hello kitty blankets. The employee in the picture purchased all the blankets and didn't leave a chance for customers to get. She works there and hides the stuff so she knows where to get them. She had 8 blankets last time and I asked if I can get one. She said no! So rude. I absolutely hate to shop, but it's a necessary evil. I like this Ross location because it's easy to get to in the back of the Serramonte parking lot. There is always parking, even during the holidays. I did a lot of my Christmas shopping here this past year, which wasn't as painful as it could have been. The only downside was the long lines, but that's expected during the holidays. I also bought a new bed set, several sheet sets, towels and pillows. 2/4/2025 This Latin woman claim to be a manager refuse to give senior discount on a Tuesday because it's not my mother paying for the items.

Tried to return an item at this location and that was a huge mistake! There were 3 lines where there were supposed to be 1. The cashiers told me they could not do returns and made me stand in line for 15 minutes until the manager finally brought someone to the front to process the returns. There were a few people in different lines all going to the same cashier because we were all given different instructions on where to line up. The manager was just staring at us as we were asking where the line was supposed to be and why NONE of the cashiers would let us make returns. The overall rating for this store right now is 2.5 and that is GENEROUS. All the defective merchandise is housed here and they make sure you can't make returns. The cashiers also complain and talk sh*t while ringing you up. The best part is that they did the transaction wrong and never issued my refund. They can have it at this point, never stepping foot in this store again. read more

I honestly love this Ross location! They are pretty stocked and loaded on inventory items/choices!! There are a lot of aisles to go through as this location is decently huge! I appreciate how there is a lot of staff normally at the cashier registers so lines run decently/smoothly except during holiday hours which is to be expected. I didn't make it past the front of the store. I was stopped and rudely accosted by the security guard who reprimand me for bringing another store's cart into the building. First of all, who cares? Second, how am I supposed to know it's not theirs? Thirdly, it was found directly in front of their store so before being rude, clean up your space. I then tried to ask a question of the guard regarding shopping with yet-to-be returned items for which I didn't have a receipt. The guard fully cut me off six or seven times when I was only 2 words into my sentence. So rude - I've never ... When I was finally able to speak and asked her if she could remember me because I was bringing in two items without a receipt, she first pointed to the camera indicating it was a stupid question because the conversation was being recorded (what? No it isn't) and then, rather than agree to remember me, she made a call to the manager and made me stand there as she blocked my entrance. Are these people not aware that there are 3 Ross stores within a couple of miles of each other? You just lost the business of an organization that spends hundreds there per week. read more

I get the best service no matter what all the managers all the security guards everyone treats me very well being 62 years old it's really nice to her compliments from the girls that help me in the dressing room. Long waiting line and most of the products are clothes. It was more furnitures and home decor before. So I was love to shop here but right now I don't like to come here. Also, they do not provide customer to use restroom anymore, the employees are always said out of service and tell you to go to other place to use it. I purchased a pair of shoes from the Colma Ross store less then a week ago. They're super cute but I realized they were much too narrow as soon as I got home and tried them on .... Rather then bringing them back to colma I brought them to the serramonte location where I planned to do some shopping .... As soon as I walked in I grabbed what I needed and headed to the line. The line was painfully long and took me about 20 min to get through .. When I got to the register the women helping me was rude and almost acted as if my casually chatting with her about their great selection was torturing her. However we pressed forward, I paid for my items and began my return. I quickly pulled out the receipt, the shoes & the tag that was inside of the shoe. The women immediately tried to tell me that she wouldn't do the return because the shoes didn't match the tag or receipt and began telling me that I must not have known what I bought, that i was using the wrong receipt etc. All while she's processing the return for the pants that we're purchased at the same time and on the same receipt as the shoes .. I wasn't understanding and asked her how that could be .... Only to have the security guard come up behind me and tell me "she's telling you it doesn't match. That what she's telling you". Like I was being hostel rather then a confused customer who has no idea how their systems work. It was so embarrassing that I'd rather pay full price for every single item I bought then go back in there and be treated like that again. read more

Definitely fun when the security accuse me of stealing when I got into Ross because I trigged the alarm of an item I bought at target. No apologize nothing. Very disappointed. Then leaving the store it didn't trigger the alarm. Probably be best to get it fix before having the same security accuse other people in the future. I always go to this Ross & buy things when I find them. I went to exchange a box & put the box in an orange Home Depot reusable bag & put the bag in a shopping cart, the black security guard followed me to where the boxes were at & stood in front of the aisle watching me & I opened the box & told him I'm looking to see if the box isn't damaged & I showed him the inside of the box & he said to me I'm just standing here. I like this Ross in Serramonte a lot better than the one in Colma. I used to come here all the time when they were still in their old location across the street. I feel like they really downsized when they moved into Serramonte, but the selection of items here is still a lot better than the Colma location. You can find a lot of cute items here, especially in the home decor area. The prices are pretty reasonable but the line goes buy a little too slow, especially when there's a huge lineup. I went to this Ross looking for a desk clock. Didn't find it. They packed the store with a lot of stuff and it's sort of hard to take everything in. The other reviewers are right this looks like a hoarders store. There's too much merchandise for the space they have. I made the mistake of pushing a cart. It was hard to maneuver. Check out was fast but the clerk I got spent 10 minutes pulling the size rings off the hangers and putting up the hangers away. So yeah I was standing in front of him for check out while he did that. Dude there's a time and place to do it. Not while you are waiting on a customer. I think the Westlake store is more spacious. read more

What a dump. They overpacked the store so there's merchandise everywhere. It's not a good thing. Clothes racks are stacked 2 high, every single aisle is super narrow, not even enough room for a person to pass another. Why do they even have carts in this store? They need to make more space inside because it just felt claustrophobic. I had to leave immediately. Honestly, the previous location up the hill was much nicer to go to just because it had more walking space although just as crowded! I must say that I do love and adore Ross. I always find so many different cheap clothing, phone accessories, snacks, and shoes whenever I come by to one of their locations. And this store is no exception. They have a lot of awesome quality items for cheap if you take the time to look. Now, before I start being a "Negative Nancy," I do like the outside of the store. It looks really nice and the signing and location are great. My problem with this new location is that they have way too many items for the space they have. It's like a hoarders home! I seriously want to call TLC to have whoever did the merchandising and layout on their hoarding show. The isles are super small and tight, that the carts serve no purpose. Do not use their carts, it'll make your shopping day harder trying to maneuver it around. It was super busy during the weekend I went so it made the problem even more evident. The furnitures they are selling are just scattered in the middle of the store, which made no sense. It doesn't make the experience enjoyable when there's no space to shop. Now, I do understand this is a new location and they have time to improve their store. Hopefully they get the memo and fix the obvious problem. read more

The reason for my 1 star rating is not for anything else but one reason. First and foremost I do need to applaud and complement the Loss Prevention team at this location. Each time I have visited this location I have been greeted with a smile and a "welcome in.." and greeted with the same smile and a "thank you and have a nice day" You have an AMAZING LP team. But to my reasoning behind my 1 star rating... I have been here at the Serramonte location a handful of times. As I have many kids that are seemingly growing at an exponential rate hahaha and being that Im living a low paying teacher's salary in the Bay Area, I need those bargains. There was this one time when I needed to use the bathroom, I can not remember exactly when but it was within the past 3-4 months or so. I see a customer leaving the bathroom area. I asked the pilipino lady (FYI I am a pilipino man myself so let's not jump on the racist wagon so quick) that was working the fitting room area if I may use the restroom. She simply replies "sorry no bathroom". Turns her back and walks away. Today at around 3:25pm, I was allowed to use the restroom with no problem. This moment brought just right now brought me back to the moment when I was denied the restroom. Maybe because I look young and just had on slippers, t-shirt and basketball shorts (even tho Im 34 years old). But why deny me when I clearly see a customer come out right after I asked? I will not spend money here again. And as an educator for the Daly City School district for the past 11 years I will encourage others around me to do the same. I encourage the management at this store to have some kind of training with the employees to better improve their customer services and people skills. Thank you and peace! read more

That one star isn't even deserved. Appalling and unprofessional behavior from the security guard- the tall, elderly white-looking one with small round glasses and Middle-Eastern (I think) accent. I had called to double check their closing time and arrived about fifteen minutes prior to that. As soon as I walked in he aggressively addressed me by saying, "Get out, get out, I know you, " while making a shooing motion with his arms. His body language was very threatening, getting right up in my face. It was uncalled for, disgusting behavior that left me in a state of shock, especially since I have been spending my money there for years. Treating any customer like that is horrible, but one that has been a loyal and frequent shopper for several years is just insane. That man needs to be fired . That man is clearly mentally ill or at least has issues with emotion regulation .
