The store was packed and moved items were still available. A black lady with glasses who may have been a manager was rude to the cashier that was helping me. She chose to get smart with her when she asked for the key to get me a perfume. Stating I'm helping this customer ... Well the cashier who had the key originally was helping .me. Upon my aunt stating she is too the lady proceeded to look at my aunt with disdain and further attitude. Otherwise the other employees were kind, helpful, and the store had a variety of options. It's just crazy on both sides of the coin during holiday season and whereas she may have been tired or overworked we were all waiting in long lines feeling the exact same way. This location use to have a wide selection of merchandise. Now it seems like you can't really find much in here. The household area is lacking along with the clothes an shoes area. Somethings are just thrower on the shelves. There are no sales person on the floor to assisted customers. Hopefully the buyer of this location will purchase better merchandise for this location. The Customer Service is ok. Always have 1 person at the register and sometimes the check out line gets a little backed up. read more

The cashier was snippy and rude for no reason, when I called the manager to report the incident her attitude was no better. I will be avoiding this location. Everytime I come here I remember why I don't want to come back. Store is usually a mess and the employees are always miserable looking. My last visit I was about to use the fitting room and an employee raced out of no where as I was walking in demanding I put my items on a rack so she could count them. Its not my fault you weren't anywhere near the rooms and theres no sign saying to wait for and it honestly just made me feel like I was intending to steal the way she treated me. I visited here last night (Friday) and while the store was clean and spacious, the racks and shelves were somewhat empty. I have a hard time believing that inventory moved that quickly off the shelves during the week. The selection for Men was very bear bones almost to the point where I thought to myself, "How is thIs place in business?". So far as employee count, there must've been 3-4 people working. I feel there are better options along Butterfield/22nd Street like Marshall's, TJ Maxx where the inventory is plentiful. The location is in a strip mall so there is plenty of parkIng. Went shopping there this afternoon looking for a purse. no one around. I felt something slide down my back I turned around to see a person wearing all black with hoodie up over their hair a white face mask. Holding up a piece of notebook paper filled with writing first line was I am homeless I lost my job. I politely said I'm sorry I can't help you and walked away. I watched the person find another secluded shopper and do the same thing. I went and found an employee explained what happened to me. And she said well what do you want me to do about it. I said I don't care I'm just letting you know what happened to me. She yelled down the aisle to apparently the manager that she wanted to talk to her and the manager said I'm busy right now. Now a days safety is top priority and I did not feel safe. And felt that the employee didn't care.I will not be back. read more

Poor selection. For example, Men Xl size t-shirts only 7 (!) available to choose from and they all look like ugly leftovers. After 30 minutes of opening the store wasnt ready for customers because the cleaning crew guy was vacuuming the entry area,Bathrooms wasn't operational, wasn't available for customers, dressing rooms wasn't open. The shelving racks with unpacked merchandise was all over the store. Not recommended. To keep your day in positive spirit just avoid that store at any cost. read more

Maybe I hit this location on a good day, but this was definitely the best one I've been too. Well stocked (for once), and the stuff that was there didn't seem like it was all broken or ripped. I just had the most unbelievably terrible costumer service experience of anywhere I have ever shopped! I bought my daughter a little tricycle here a few weeks ago. Went to put it together the night before her birthday and it was missing multiple pieces needed to connect it. Went to return it today, mentioned it was missing pieces from the box, and the cashier said he could not do the return since it was missing pieces. Keep in mind I had the receipt. He said I had to wait for a manager, who would return from her break in 30 minutes. I was dumbfounded. Sir, I am not the one who lost the pieces. This terribly run store sold me something with missing pieces. I mentioned that the box looked slightly damaged when I bought it and he had the audacity to tell me I should not have bought something that looked damaged. This entire experience was so ridiculous I thought I was being punked. The manager ended up coming after a while and did the return. So this complaint is twofold. Selling a product with missing pieces, and then giving me trouble/blaming me whe I tried to return it. Stay away from this store!! read more

This very much seems to be like TJ Maxx, but in my opinion, cleaner, neater and better organized. I came to check the place out and tried some clothes on. I will say they seem a bit obsessed with deterring shoplifting. There is a whole process to get in and out of the dressing room. There are security tags on everything. But. I got three tops for $36 so I feel like that's okay. It's designer and department store stuff at lower prices -- but it doesn't feel like the sort of clothes that nobody wanted to wear in the first place. Besides clothes there is a smattering of home goods, decor, accessories, shoes, bags etc. It's not a massive selection, it's true -- but every time I've gone to TJ Maxx, which has a ton of stuff, I've felt like either it's unappealing or the wrong size (or, once, I tried on an awesome dress that I then realized had a totally busted zipper); on the other hand, there were lots of things my style at Ross. In short: I love finding great clothes at good prices, and as long as the selection and prices appeal to me here, you can believe I'll be back. Edit: so one of my tops became completely misshapen after one wash. In cold water. The good news is that my return was accepted, no problem (with a receipt). The minorly bad news is that I didn't notice until it was too late that she returned the wrong item - about a $1 price difference and it's a good thing I don't intend to return that other top, or it will look like I stole it :P Still, giving it four stars for now because the return was no-hassle, it's clean and well organized. read more

"I want to look at outdoor furniture at Ross." "They have outdoor furniture there?" I asked, confused. "I think so." Turns out, they don't. Ross is kind of TJ Maxx/Marshall's across-the-street neighbor who wants to be like them but can't figure it out. Most of the store has half-empty racks of things that make it feel like you're at a sad garage sale. The prices on everything are reasonable, but I just don't feel like there's enough of a selection to make it much of a draw. I assume they buy leftover stock from "real" stores at a discount, but they need to stock better. The inconsistency is a real turnoff. I'd only come here to kill time because you wouldn't know what they'd have. The aisles are so all over the place. One minute you're looking at a headboard, the next you're staring at a garden buddha statue. The store is confused. And after visiting, so am I. read more

I've never personally shopped at Ross but people like to give gifts from there. Everything I get from Ross is only cheap shit. Do not waste your time. The customer service is terrible. My husband and I went to Ross at the end of this location's Grand Opening weekend. It was our first time to visit a Ross. My first impression is that it is very much like a TJ Maxx or Marshalls. This store appeared to lack merchandise, but I wonder if it had been picked clean during Grand Opening festivities? Neither my husband nor I made a purchase. I did notice some designer handbags and a few petite dresses with labels I recognized from higher end department stores. I will go back with the hope that Ross will increase its inventory. While the advertisements say "go to Ross," what they should do is warn of the poor to nonexistant customer service! Seriously, I only saw 1 person working in this Ross and he seemed to have better things to do than wait on customers. I ended up putting my items back and leaving. Probably will be glad I did, since I didn't see anything that screamed or even whispered quality. Once again, there are many levels of Micheal Kors and Ross Dress for Less has the lowest level of MK I've ever seen anywhere. We are always going to Ross. I like it better than TJ Maxx and even a little better than Marshalls if I"m shopping for clothes. This store was super clean and it had a huge selection of plus size clothes. I found so much to wear I actually had to put back about 7 things so I wouldn't spend more than $300. So far this is the best Ross I've been to. My boyfriend hardly ever finds things to wear at Ross but this time he walked out with a whole new Spring wardrobe. I'm not sure if it's so full of merchandise because it's a new store? I sure hope not. I will be going back to this location as my first choice when I need something to make me feel pretty. Yikes! Checked this store out after having lunch at Panera in the mall. Four words..I won't be back..it was one of the worst shopping experiences. Screaming children, it appeared most shoppers didn't speak English, terrible merchandise, looked like a flea market picked over. Saw absolutely NOTHING i wanted, which is unusual. I felt like a criminal due to the very obvious security guard standing at the front door. One of the two doors --you cannot exit from (fire hazard anyone??) due to their fear of shoplifters I guess. Made me feel very unwelcome and this marathon shopper will take her business elsewhere. Feels like a mini, messy, understocked Marshalls in Mexico City or the middle east. read more

This store is so gross. Does anyone actually look at how dirty this store is? The glass on the doors is always dirty and the inside is never cleaned. I was there on Monday and there were actual dust bunnies on the floor - huge ones. And only one register open all the time. Poor selection. Visited Ross Store about 2 weeks ago, first time. My cousin recommended it, she always finds clothes there. I was fed up with TJX and Marshalls. Their prices are too high and the selection is limited. I'm so happy I walked into Ross. Clean store, friendly people from dressing room to cashiers. Customers all seemed happy too. They have a wider selection of clothing, plus the stuff is good. Good brand names and the clothes fit well. Excellent Plus size collections too, not the "what were you thinking" styles and patterns you'll see in department stores. The prices were what TJX used to be. Clothes at TJX seem to avg. $25 and up. At Ross, average seems to be $10 and up and the clothes are better. One last thing, the changing rooms were actually comfortable temperature wise. TJX temp control in dressing rooms has always been lousy. Ross has bigger rooms, more places to hang and place things and they're clean. Next stop-Ross in Niles. I'm SOLD on Ross. read more

Glen Ellyn Ross store just opened several weeks ago. I've been to other locations as well. The store started out as nice as the one in Naperville on Rt. 59, but now, just like the one in Downers Grove, it's getting to be a mess! I like the quality, prices and merchandise offered in general. The annoying part is that the times I've been in there over the last few weeks their customer service gets worse and worse. The checkout line is ridiculous, and no one behind the counter seems to know what they're doing.
