I was taken aback when this store first opened and I visited with my mom. They had a lot of goth lolita type apparel, for plus sized beauties. I didn't find anything to purchase back then, but I'm very glad I checked in again recently to get a pair of the best v-neck (without those silly shelf bras) cotton stretch camis. Very awesome and a total staple for me. They followed up my purchase with some fab deals on their website so I'm stocking up on these great wardrobe staples. They have their own sizing format where size 0 is 12-14 and 1 is 16-18 and so on... so it takes a little bit of research, perhaps on their website ahead of time, to figure stuff out...though the ladies who work there are happy to give a helping hand too. Not only that but I found out that they have a free shopper card club with discounts and all kinds of good stuff. Very cool shop for young'ins as well as others looking for wardrobe staples (you never know unless you look, right?). I'm very happy. read more

I had the best shopping experience at Torrid the other day! I'm kind of in between sizes and in plus-size denial right now (damn you college weight!). Anyway, I had been on the hunt for a graduation dress. Unfortunately, regular stores have sizes that run smaller and typical plus-size stores have clothes that cater generally to an older crowd. I had been leaving store after store empty handed. Flash forward to going to Torrid. When we walked in, it looked like they didn't have the largest selection of dresses. We walked around, picked a few things up and asked for a fitting room. As we were going in to the fitting room, an AWESOME salesperson (I think her name was Lacey?) walked up to us and asked us what we were looking for. When I said graduation she went straight to work and picked out all of these things I thought I wouldn't like/I hadn't seen anywhere and gave them to me to go try on. Since she was super friendly and never pushy I tried everything she gave me on, plus what I had found. Between the mixture, I found THREE dresses I loved (compared to the ZERO from all my previous shopping experiences combined) and had to choose between them. I wound up getting a very cute purple dress with a dark grey fleur de lis pattern for about $70 (it was originally almost $80 before taxes, but I saved 15% by opening a Torrid Charge Card + got a free reversible tote. I'm a sucker for stupid gimmicky crap like that). I was very pleased with the whole experience and would like to again emphasize how awesome our salesgirl was! read more

I LOVE Torrid. I've only been to the store twice, maybe three times. But I buy from them online frequently. I am plus size and it's obviously not always easy to find cute clothes. While Torrid was founded on being the plus sized, slightly classier Hot Topic, they've expanded. Not everything they have is my style, but I always get my pants/jeans from them, and got one of my prom dresses here. They never disappoint. These days I go on their site constantly to see what's gone on clearance (because they ALWAYS have amazing clearance selection and good deals on shipping and bulk purchases) and can always find a few dresses, pairs of jeans, and a few random accessories to throw in with the rest. I do remember the store being nice, with nice dressing rooms and atmosphere, and a very friendly, non-judgmental, helpful staff. I wish there was one in my town, because I shop more on their site than I do some stores in my own town. read more

I have been shopping at Torrid since they opened in California and was SUPER excited when they finally came to IL. Love the clothes but hate the cost. I know it cost money to be plus size and look hot but still...The workers here are super helpful when ever I come in and I am sad to say 1-2 know be by face. read more

Torrid - Women's Clothing Near Me - Lombard, Illinois

I hate giving a 2 star rating, but these ladies had it coming. A manager with a bad attitude, messy and disorganized and incredibly non-helpful sales associates. Either the employees are way over paid and not required to serve their customers or they just don't give a damn. I have been to this store 3 times in the past 2 months. On the first trip, I was with some girlfriends looking for some stuff for a trip to Mexico in late July. Good thing I had my friends with me, because their staff wasn't helpful in the least. When I got to the counter to pay for a dress that my lady friends like on me, found out it was on clearance (not marked on the tag) and it was cheaper than I had expected. BONUS!! Right? No, wrong!!! Their clearance items can not be returned once the transaction is complete. I began to hesitate because I did not LOVE the dress. Discovered the first dress I tried on the in the room was torn, so I swapped it out for another one in my size. Stood at the front counter and in the true form of my mother, examined the dress to check for any tears. While my friends laughed at me, and it may have been a little funny, I hate spending money I can not get back if I find a tear in it when I get home. The manager and he lovely attitude said our clothes are high quality and well made. .....B.S.! Their clothes are cheap and crappily made. (Yes, I made up that word: "crappily") Of course I didn't learn that until me second trip to the store.... I was in there with my sister. We looked at clothes and while we are both "plus size", it was kinda fun to shop in a store that caters to us. Let me tell you, I asked an associate for some assistance in find a dress that I tried on the last time I was there and liked, but she stood in the middle of the store saying, we haven't ever had anything like that here. Well, ya did, I tried it on 2 or 3 weeks ago. Either way, they were less than helpful and I discovered other torn clothing throughout the store when I walked through. I hate to say it, but you may pay more at Lane Bryant, but their clothes ARE of a high quality and very well made. I have had jeans from there that have lasted for years, and tops that keep up with heavy wearing and washing. I will not be returning to this Torrid or any other and even a free shopping spree would not get me back in this place. Good luck to them. read more

Overall an okay experience was making a purchase and I grabbed two items under the buy one get one half off and having worked retail I read the fine prints to all marketing around the store. I originally grabbed a pair of spanx and some tights that were both under this marketing sign and there were about 4 sings in that area, to only come to the register and find out spanx aren't included and the lady said it says so on the sign. I didn't wanna debate but I clearly told her I read all 4 signs and none of them say that. She said well it doesn't included it so I told her well maybe you should revise your marketing signs to reflect that. She got snotty with me and so I decided not tote additional tights. I thought she would apologize for the wrong sign and still honor it and she did not, when 2 other employes verified I was correct. I know first hand being a manager once for victoria's secret that if our marketing isn't clear enough to honor it for the customer I guess she missed the memo that the customer is always right!! I wasn't pissed off and nor will I say I'll never go again, but I was unhappy that being a loyal member they would not honor it. Otherwise the girls a friendly but spend a little too much time chit chatting up front then acknowledging the customer! read more

Great store for plus size ladies. I personally don't shop here. I go with my friend who does shop here. Service is great considering there is only one person in the entire store and we have been waiting in line forever. Your corporate office really needs to staff your store more appropriately. read more

I didn't know this place even existed until I found it in the mall the other day. I had a total woops moment here and accidentally spent about $150. The sales associates were super helpful. Of course, I blame them for the money I spent. I wasn't even intending to buy anything, but the jeans she recommended were amazing. As were the other items I tried on. As much as I absolutely love this store, their clothes don't seem to last long, especially their jeans. I feel no store actually has good plus sized jeans that last a long time. Very disappointed in that. The staff is amazing and very friendly, however during busy times they are a little on the slow side figuring out who needs a fitting room and who doesn't. I enjoy going to torrid because its very hard to find clothes at cheaper prices being so big. I love this store, just wish the quality of the jeans were better. read more

So seriously, my problem with Torrid is that the sales staff is so annoying. I'm not sure what they are trying to do but it appears they want to be a kind of personal assistant while you are shopping. EVERYTIME I'm hounded by a sales associate. Once I had a few shirts and the associate asked me twice if I wanted a dressing room. I said no. I set them down to pick something up and she took them and started a dressing room. I had her bring them back as they were supposed to be a gift!! I was insulted. Did she think I was going to steal them? Hear me clearly, they STALK you in the store. Then to add insult to injury, the sales staff dress horribly. I wouldn't take their fashion advice ever but they are in your face asking dumb questions, "Do you like jackets" no, "do you like blazers?" no "oh you don't like to layer?" for the 9th time I don't need any help. Is it possible to shop in peace? Must you talk to me nonstop? Is this a loss prevention tactic? They cant steal if you stand next to them the entire time. Is this a bad tactic to get you to buy more by being aggressively friendly while hawking other clothes. Or, most likely is this a misguided attempt at customer service Now I'm just downright rude to them or I wear my ipod and pretend I can't hear them. It doesn't matter because they still will annoy the bonkers out of you. If I say I'm just looking three times to the same person I get to ignore all future attemps at conversation. I usally try not to shop at that store because they don't this at the other locations. read more

Let me start out by saying that I love Torrid clothes. I got most of my vacation clothes for our Cancun trip from this company (not location) and I was very pleased. Customer service at this location is a hit or miss. The red haired lady (pretty sure she is the manager) there is generally in a weird/offputting/bad mood (I've dealt with her about 3 times now) and this time made me feel bad for returning some stuff I bought yesterday. She said things like "well thanks for at least boosting our sales yesterday" accompanied by sighs. I explained to her that the shorts I got just didn't work with my post baby body and she was like "you don't have to explain" before continuing to sigh and go through the returns. First of all - I have a 9 month old son. We are going to Belgium on Thursday and I had 30 minutes to shop before taking him back home to be watched while I went to scheduled appointments. I did not have time to try things on so yes, I bought $313 worth of clothes and kept only $143. But should this make me not shop in store at all? And only shop online thereby continuing the trend of shutting down retail locations and putting you out of a job??? This is the closest torrid to me so I will inevitably return when I have to (like too short of a time frame to shop online) but from now on I will try to do the majority of my shopping at this company online or in Schaumburg. There is a lady with shaved sides of her head that was super nice yesterday, but unfortunately I can't be guaranteed to get her and have a reasonable experience here. read more

Today was the first time I shopped in Torrid. They have a great selection of stylish and trendy clothing for plus size. I would have to say the only negative thing is that the clothing tends to run small. I am usually an 18 and I had to go up to a size 20. I just bought a pair of jeans at JcPenny and they were a size 18 and fit just fine. This store is geared more towards younger women. I would say this store is plus sized junior clothing. Some of the jeans the fit is not quite right. I usually shop at Lane Bryant but their selection really has gone down. The clothing at Lane Bryant is way more comfortable. The staff at Torrid in Lombard is excellent and really go out of their way to help you. read more

The styles, prices, and employees are great here. Its hard shopping when your a plus size girl but they make you feel welcomed and help with great ideas. I feel comfortable and confident when i visit this place. I am hooked! read more
