This is the worst Ross I have ever been to!! Understaffed there's always a line out the door and one poor service person in the front. you would think during lunch hours and after 5 o'clock when it would be more busy, there might actually be more than one checker, but evidently they don't care about the customers or their employees! The store is a mess once again because it's probably completely understaffed. Today was the last straw. I had four dresses that I wanted to try on. during Covid. They closed the dressing room area in the back and put two individual changing rooms in the front.! Two!!! Today the two were occupied after waiting for 15 minutes. I put the dresses back and walked out of the store. It's ridiculous when you have a full dressing room in the back that you don't open it up ! you lost my sales today and you lost all of my sales in the future. I will never return to this Ross again maybe if you learn how to properly staff your store. since most of the store is clothing and people typically want to try on clothing before they buy it you should have more than two dressing rooms available. The other Ross stores seem to be able to open their full dressing room ! 11/6/24 I called twice today and both times the "Manager" kept talking over me and hung up on me twice and refused to giveme her name as i advised i would file a complaint. At around 630pm and again at 632 pm. 1st time I asked to speak to the manager when she got on thr phone I tried explaining that I was charged for items I did not receive. She said I had to go to the store I told her I lived far away and 40$ was not necessarily worth me driving and she abruptly started talking over me and did not allow me to speak anymore. When I asked her for contact email to file complaint.she hung up on me. I call seconds later, ask to speak to the manager and was told she was on lunch and when I asked for the name and her employee ID all of a sudden I hear the managers voice again and she says she cannot give employees Name to customers amd said I could not talk to staff the way I was talking. In actuality I wasn't being rude, irritated yes. But not rude. I reminded her that she was the one talking over me rather than hearing me out to allow myself to express what i was wrongfully charged for plus how I would hope this would be resolved. She hung up again. 1st of all, this type of customer service is unacceptable. Just because Ross is not a high end store, it does not mean customers should ne treated any less. Hadn't been in to this store in a while and was surprised to see so much empty space. I mean before there were racks and racks of clothes and they were all crammed side by side and full of all sorts of clothes, nice, decent, ugly, etc., you name it and it was there. On this trip there were racks and racks of bras more then I could count! It's almost as if they put in 10 huge racks of bras to make up the space for the lack of clothing. And the women's clothing wasn't quite the numerous racks that it had been in the past and they were all ugly, ugly colors, ugly patterns, ugly styles, just plain ugly! And like I said a lot of open space. Makes me wonder what is going on. With that said, the areas I looked at seemed pretty well organized just lacking in product. read more

My first and last time in a Ross. Depressing and cluttered. I did find a nice pair of swimming trunks but had to leave after lining up for 20 minutes as had an appointment. What a waste of time. They only had one poor employee on the checkout (who was doing their best, this review is unrelated to them). The queue was 15 people deep as we left. Hire more people. Good store to shop at with a selection of items. The day that I visited was just before Christmas, so it was crowded and many things were picked-over. I was told that during non-Holiday Shopping Season the store is more organized and items more neatly placed. I did find some good items at a good price. This is by far the worst Ross I've ever been to. The store is huge but they don't have enough product/inventory to fill up the aisles. There is so much empty space that could be filled with clothing, shoes or whatever which they don't have aside from that its so dusty. I don't they clean at all. Everything is disorganized and the customer service sucks. When I was waiting in line there was only one employee at the register doing refunds which made a long line. I could see two employees at the other end of the store talking while others were just walking around not doing anything. Customers got inpatient and left her items and walked out. I have to preface this review to say that I am not a fan of any Ross store, but I do work near this one in Petaluma. I come here on my lunch break occasionally to look at the junk or "mall walk". It is near Trader Joe's, where I typically end up. This Ross plays loud spanish versions of Beatle's music. Really bad stuff. I WISH they had muzak. Or nothing would be ok. Silence is good. I do not even look at the funky clothing they have there. You would need to spend hours cherry-picking to find anything decent. I just do not have the time. This Ross always seems to be dirty. There are spider webs on the knick-knacks. There is always stuff piled around on the floors or shoved back in the racks. Marks on everything like a thrift shop. There is always a long check-out line and just one person on the register doing some complicated return. I do not have time on my lunch break to ever purchase anything because of the long line. Bottom line: Hire more staff to clean-up the place and work the registers. Take some training classes in customer service, seriously. Find better merchandise to sell in the store. Loose the horrid music. This Ross is in a good location and could really do well if they got it together. Two stars because it (occasionally) has a nice purse or make-up case if you dig through for a while. The prices are reasonable if you can find something. They always have something unusual in the glassware section. read more

I like Ross stores in general. This one however is not a favorite of mine, although they do have some of the best dressing rooms and dressing room staff of many of the locations. Too bad their selection of clothing and shoes sucks. I swear this store gets the left over of the left overs when it comes to shoe selection, and most of the clothing. Aside from the good dressing rooms - they home section is fairly ok (don't get any of the food products most are past their expiration date) Not the cleanest store of them all either, and the line tends to be REALLY long. I love Ross but why does this place always look like an atomic bomb went off inside of it?!!! Ross is always disorganized, and often times I find items with stains and whatnot on them. I'm really not a huge fan. Also, every since I was little this store has made me sick to my stomach. WORST customer service ever! Sunday morning around 11:30 a.m. I have one small kitchen item to purchase. There are two roped lines up front to choose from. One is for returns, one is for purchases. But hmmmmm, only ONE CASHIER, poor guy. Customers are confused, not knowing how to line up for only one cashier. By now there are at least eight customers in each line. The poor guy starts taking turns peeling off customers from each line, whether they have returns or purchases. He calls for help, but no other employees ever show up. My wait was 23 minutes to purchase a $3.99 item, When I asked him why he was the only worker he said he "was used to it" This Ross Store can afford a security guard, but not a second or third cashier???? And the inventory is so low....a foot of empty space in between each item of clothing on many of the racks.......what??? read more

This Ross store happened to be clean when I visited it. I now there are a lot of other reviewers that said other wise but maybe they are turning over a new leaf. That being said, their inventory was kind of low and there was a lot of space in the store in general. Perhaps they are getting ready to close this location down? The men's department is very small. I was able to snag 3 items and some really great prices that were designer brands. That is what I like going in there for . Its the whole thrill of the hunt thing I guess. As far as security , well I did not feel like I was being eyeballed or anything but sadly there has to be security because there are thief's in the world. They are the ones that spoil it for everyone else. So next time, do not make it about you, and just say HI nice and friendly to the security guard! read more

This is the most Ross like Ross Ive ever been to. If you want the full Ross experience, this is the one. It has everything from clothes to furnishings to a front door that is really loose. This store has been in Petaluma for many years. I found it crowded with merchandise and hard to look thru but good prices. Just went back recently and what a change. Cleaned up, opened up and organized nicely with prices still good. Staff friendly and helpful. Great improvement to the store. Can't believe the difference. Will go back more often for sure now. read more

If I happen to be grocery shopping at Raley's next door, I will take a moment to pop into this store. It's spacious and organized. The guard always opens the door for the ladies and offers a kind greeting when I go there. I have to give myself time to look around for the bargains. But if I can find a dress for 9 and a few cute tops for under 7 bucks each, I consider the shopping experience a success. Today, I got a very stylish hamper and ironing board set with a small side table for under 50. I couldn't be happier with my purchases. The only reason why this store rocks the three star instead of the four is lack of cashiers. One cashier for 12 people in line that must also handle returns...insane. I felt sorry for the poor lady who tried her best to ring people up and get the line moving. It's a corporation model to be understaffed at most of these stores, unfortunately. read more

Man me an my boyfriend came in there last night at 7:30 we rode to Petaluma on the bike an I wanted to get some sweats for the ride home. Anyways I found a couple went to try them on an the women working the fitting room told me the dressing room was closed... mind you the store didn't close till 10:00 . So she told me we had to go to the Khios that was in the middle of the store to use that fitting room which is fine kind of weird but no big deal. I end up purchasing a pair sweats And asked the cashier if it was OK if I went back to the bathroom and changed unto them because we were getting on the bike to ride home he said it was fine just to bring my receipt with me. I go to the back dealing with the same lady she told me I can't use the restroom. I told her I have a receipt I just wanted to change in to the sweats explain the story that we are literally getting on the bike to leave I just wanted to change. She copped an attitude with me like it was the worst thing in the world for me to ask ..asked me who advised me to come back here made me feel super uncomfortable didn't even want to tell her that the young kid who was super helpful upfront told me it was ok. She opened the fitting room an said go in there an kept mumbling I knew she was pissed . I felt bad damn women I just wanted to change. Anyways I come out an she stopped me said "WHO TOLD U IT WAS OK TO COME BACK HERE!" I said the guys upfront mam I'm not tryin to get anyone in to trouble she said what his name I'm telling my manger ... she kept saying he gave her more work to do ... some shit I told her to calm down it's not there serious Wtf . I've read through all of the complaints and I am shocked that not one person has complained about the fact disabled people in wheel chairs cannot access the Petaluma Ross store unless there is someone standing there holding open the door. I asked the Security person at the door a hypothetical question; what if no one is there to open the door, and the answer I got was, "someone is always around, either a customer or employee. What?????? I don't believe this is what the American Disability Act means when they say disability people must have full access to all public buildings! I am disabled and the other day I needed help to my car because Ross does not allow the carts to leave the store. The cashier called the Manager in the back and told her I have a disabled woman who needs help with packages and the manager told her that "she was too busy." I was told to go next store to the grocery store and bring their cart close to the building and that should resolve my problem. What???????? If you are elderly or disabled and need a electric cart, forget it, they don't have that either for their customers. I agree with everyone's comments, but this complaint is about disabled people who are a protected class who must under law have the rights as able bodied people. These are laws in place so stores like Ross MUST comply with the ADA because the "one size fits all" does not apply to the disabled community. Please remember one thing, this is not the employees fault, this is coming from the Corporate office. When the manager said she was too busy, she told me later she was on the loading dock helping with unloading, but somewhere she got the message from Corporate that unloading boxes was more important then assisting a disabled person! Worst customer service at fitting room!!! The lady at the fitting room is rude and disrespectful. I was going to try only one dress at about 9 pm on 11//11/17. Although I showed her that it is only one dress to try, she demanded to hang in the dress to count. The way she told me and the tone were rude to the customer. I said OK and didn't say anything back to her. It doesn't make sense to count the one item. After trying it on, I told her that I will take the dress, and she yelled at me to get back the hanger. I got angry and left the dress there. The old morose woman! She shouldn't be there to serve the customers. read more

I can't with Ross. The place just tries my patience. I don't know how much money is lost to theft at this store but I'm tired of being treated like a potential thief instead of a customer. I shop at Ross once a week but trying on shoes and some clothing in this store is a pain in the ass. Merchandise is secured in a way that you can't even slip one foot in a pair of boots without having to take them to the register and have them separated (the zippers are blocked so you can't get your foot in the shoe.) Today, I wanted to try on pajama sets consisting of pants and a top. The pants were connected to the collars of the tops by a security tag. How the hell are you supposed to try the these things on? One piece at a time so you have no idea how the set looks together with pants hanging from the back of the shirt collar or shirts hanging down the back for the pants - RIDICULOUS. It was too late for me to take them to the front register to have each of the six sets I selected separated. I was already in the fitting room where I had stripped down from my layers of bundled up clothing (it was cold today.) The straw that broke the camels back, was a pair of the pajama pants that the security tag positioned so the pants were sealed together in the middle of the waist. In other words, I couldn't even get one leg in them to try them on. I came out of the dressing room and approached the fitting room checker (nice lady) to get the security tag removed. She then called over another employee over who told me in a very haughty tone (not a nice lady) to take the clothing item to the front of the store and have them separated. (I'm in the very back of the store with all my stuff in the fitting room) Am I supposed to stand in line to get security tags removed to try stuff on? It's just too much for me, Ross do you want people to buy this stuff or not? This will be my last time dealing with anything that comes with a security tag at Ross - Purses, shoes, clothing and whatever else falls into the secured category. In fact, I'm phasing Ross out of my weekly shopping trips. Customers are supposed to enjoy spending their money at your store not be under a veil of suspicion and fraught with frustration during and after their shopping experience. To start with, this is a 'Ross' where bad treatment is in their training manual.. Anyhow.. My children and I sometimes have time to kill so we went there, and I'm ashamed to say.. More than once! No matter what difficulty you have trying to get into the tight manual doors, the 'loss prevention' kings and queens will NEVER help out. They just keep staring at you to see how you're gonna do it.. With a child, an over sized stroller that gets stuck in their doors.. You stay stuck in there until another customer walks into the store and Has To help to get you out of the way.. As soon as you get it, with a serious face you hear 'welcome to Ross'!! The same person that wouldn't hold the door open for you.. Long story short, my child picks one disgusting thing and wants to buy it.. With about 8 registers, NONE OF THEM OPEN! We all lined up, purchases and returns, at the customer service desk.. 3 people in front of me, 15 minutes and I'm still standing! When I suggested 'another register', I was stated at as if to say 'you're at Ross, you're lucky there's a line you can stand in.. What other register.. This is Ross' They really suck.. Underpaid unhappy people employed to punish people for shopping at Ross.. They should change their ad on tv to "you shouldn't go to Ross" read more
