Worst Ross I ever visited. Focused almost exclusively on loss prevention and not at all on customer service and efficiency. A store absolutely packed, with only 1 fitting room stall open for a line of 8 people, and only 1 cashier for a line of 14 people. Left after not being able to get a fitting room and not waiting in that absurd line to check out either. Terrible management and staffing. read more

The worst customer service I ever experienced happened just a few minutes ago when I went to this store to return two items that I had bought just five days ago. One of them was a pair of earbuds that were defective and did not pair with my cell phone. The cashier, who also said she was the manager and told me her name was Jenni, refused to accept the return saying "the cellophane wrapping had been removed". Really?? How else is a customer going to find out if an item works or not - specially an item of this kind? To add insult to injury, her attitude was most arrogant and when I told her that my honest feedback was that this my worst customer service experience ever and anywhere, and that I will report it to her corporate office, she did not bat an eyelid and rather showed an attitude that said loudly " I don't care". The other item was a T-shirt that she said was showing a different color on scanning. Well, NOT the customer's fault! However, she made me wait for nearly ten minutes while she went in the back and checked the "cameras", and finally came back and said she checked the cameras and it was okay. To treat a customer with such disrespect and indignity is practically unknown in my experience. All for a nine dollar short, and all for their OWN fault. What can I say? Ross is one of my favorite stores 20+ years ago. It has become a store chain I have tried to avoid in the last 6-7 years, and they seem like they have gotten even worse in recent years! The quality of clothing and household items in Ross Dress for Less stores are going major downhill in the last few years. But this is what I expected before I visited this store in Town and Country Village at the corner of Marconi Ave and Fulton Ave. However, I'm still underestimated how bad the store compared to the TJ Maxx just right next to them. The Ross here is not just look dated. It also has many empty sports in all the departments. The merchandises look old, and the whole store is disorganized. The employees here are nice! At least I have a friendly greeting when I enter the store. They have good people working here. I hope the management will bring back the items they are carrying at Ross 20 years ago, and it is time to update the store. read more

All week I've been to Ross stores all over town! This was like my 11th trip to a Ross store and the best yet. The store is very open and well organized. It doesn't have merchandise sitting every where and you can easily walk through every aisle and browse. My boyfriend and I just moved into apartments down the street and were looking for decorative pieces as well as home goods. I found a cute picture frame that show cases 6 pics and has a letter board in the middle. Something like that would cost an easy $20 at target, but I got it for $8.99!! I was so stoked. They had a great selection on kitchen towels, sink accessories, cups, plates, everything. You name it, they had it! I was fairly impressed with their furniture selection too. I saw lots of decorative chairs, end tables, ottomans and they even had patio furniture! Unfortunately, I didn't find anything I liked for our place but I'm hoping they'll have a nice piece of furniture for me next time. The check out process was a 10/10 too. The young Caucasian woman with glasses helped us with our exchange. She was very friendly and fast. I'm so happy this store is literally down the street from us. read more

DO NOT USE THE FITTING ROOMS! NOT SAFE!! I came here on 10/20 and at approximately 7:30pm, while I was in the fitting room, I heard a man whispering in the stall across from me. I put my clothes and left quickly to inform the woman working the fitting room check in. I told her "excuse me I think there's a man in the fitting room". She stared blankly at me and replied "oh ya, I think he's with his wife". I was completely perplexed on how she thought it was ok. I walked over to security at the front doors and told him. He was shocked and asked me to describe him. At this point the man and woman come out as I quietly whisper the description. He apologized and let me know he told the fitting room woman not to let that happen. The man continued walking around the store and I hurried out. I'm shocked, disappointed, and disgusted that a clothing store would allow this activity to happen, especially since we are most vulnerable while changing. I have been to several Ross's in town and out of town and almost always have an OK experience. These stores are usually a fun place to shop when I want to find a surprising bargain, or if I'm on a mission to find something in particular. This store didn't disappoint with it's interesting variety of merchandise. As I browsed the aisles for some kitchen gadgets, a wall clock and some ideas to decorate my home, I found that this store was clean and well stocked. I was especially surprised to see the housewares department nicely organized with everything placed in categories that made it easier to find specific items. Unlike some stores I have been to with shelves filled like a hodge podge of stuff where you have to take time to rummage through things just to see what's there. Even though shopping here was pleasant, I wasn't able to find the things I had my heart set on. But that's OK, because inventory changes often, and that's what makes shopping at Ross an enjoyable place to explore! Ross does not appear to care about their customers or their employees. There was one cashier and the line went all the way back to the back of the store. It is not right to put an employee under that kind of pressure. It is also very unappreciative to treat your customers this way. I go in here only if I really really need to . It is becoming less frequent each time I have gone. There are plenty of other stores to shop at like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods. There's plenty of "prevention loss" employees walking around and a greeter. Who cares about a greeter! The other thing that is very annoying is that it doesn't matter how much you spend or how large your items are, they will not let you take a shopping cart outside. They won't even allow their employees to help you take things out or load them. It appears to me that the owner of this company does not give a hoot about anything except making as much money as they can. My mother worked for this company for over 20 years. I tried to encourage her numerous times to find another job. But because of her handicap she didn't have many choices. She ended up developing a disability in her thumbs because of the security tags she had to put on the merchandise. I could tell you some stories. At Christmas time they would give the employees a tiny little felt Christmas stocking with a teeny tiny candy cane in it. I'd say that this store deserves to be shut down, especially by how management has changed and manages everything. If you plan to work there, DON'T, I would not recommend. I've worked there for a good while and I've been thrown around the schedule numerous times and it has gotten worse for this year. The main manager now, I won't say her name but I'll say she wears glasses and has a gap, she never keeps her word, especially if you were to ask for more hours, she isn't very trust worthy. I'm not going to say much about the assistant manager as he did his best with hours and management, I usually liked going to him more about schedule discussions and all, but I do know that a very good co worker I know I used to work with who was promoted to assistant manager at one point got info from the current assistant manager that he purposefully was trying to reduce hours for the co workers who worked there longest, including the co worker I mentioned who was promoted while she was there, and waited for them to quit on purpose. Of course, most were fired and/or had left on their own (the whole plan worked,) and during this whole process, they kept hiring more and more people even though they were doing half and half on giving hours to them, but still not giving decent hours to the ones who worked longest. If you asked on why were so understaffed, that's why, employees there were under paid and treated unfairly. I even put in a report months ago of a co worker who decided to reveal that he was stealing merchandise and I had told the manager with the glasses and she seemed concerned about it but after I put the report in, I did keep calling to check on the status and all I got was that nobody was looking into it. That co worker doesn't work there anymore likely due to hours or because their crazy ex showing up, but it seems like some co workers can get away with anything. Also, the store's always messy and I will say sometimes it's never handled properly or customers don't have home training. Anyways, that store is good with what they sell as I am a fashionable person but the store generally along with all I've said, just take my word for it and don't work there and maybe not even shop there. read more

They are constantly understaffed. The stores always a mess. You wait forever to check out. And God forbid you have to return something which I had to do recently. I waited 20 minutes for someone to come to a register to do "" to a return'". Despite that many people were still being able to check out at other registers. Then when I got to the register, I was told that unless I had a receipt I would get substantially less because they don't do the cross reference credit card thing. According to sales lady " only fancy stores like Macy's cross references with your credit card." What a joke! Even Walmart cross references your credit card to see what you paid for something. It's clear this business has only stayed afloat due to shoppers with no standards. They have no "best practices" when it comes to customer service and product is medicore at best. I went in on a lunch break to see if they have any large sized womens sandals (usually sold out everywhere else) and due to their anti-theft packaging it makes it impossible to actually try on the shoe. The shoe was actually sort of cute. Double tied and a large, cumbersome sensor. I asked the "loss prevention" guard by the door and the shoe section if it was possible to remove it so i could try the shoes on. He told me I needed to wait in the line for the cashier so they could remove it. Sorry, I work about 13 hours a day, I don't have time to wait in line 2x to try on shoes. It would have been SO simple, minimal effort to just remove the sensor on a guaranteed buy. Instead you lost a sale and a customer. That's my final trip to this or any Ross location. Don't waste your time or money. Go to TJ Maxx or Target or the Mall or Amazon. read more

Entered Ross on a mission to purchase a suitcase that will hopefully get me through the next 3 years of what has been, so far, a 30-year career with the State. Traveling is part of the gig, so a new suitcase is a job requirement (and we don't get paid well enough for a Hartmann). Walked in and was cheerfully greeted by the loss prevention officer. Headed over to the suitcases and the selection was pretty limited, but I managed to scoop up the only Samsonite for $50-purple, but it'll do. At this point, I should have headed to the checkout, but, no, I was distracted by the other items in the store, and who knows what else I need? Found an Izod garment I had to have, and headed to the fitting rooms to make sure it fit before I made the $12 investment. Again, an extremely happy sales associate monitoring the dressing rooms, and while my suitcase had to wait with the associate I entered the well lit room-perfect fit, 2nd score. Determined to checkout I walked in the direction of the registers, but was overcome by curiosity of what was in the shoe section. Perfect pair of Evan Picone flats for under $20, and I was sold. I probably would have continued to shop, but at this point my hands were full and I was wheeling around a purple suitcase. Managed to checkout spending less than $100, and the jolly loss prevention guy wished me a pleasant evening on my way out. The 4-stars represent the great customer service I received during my shopping trip. Not quite 5-stars since the selection at this store is really limited (although I did find what I came for and then some). My Ross pet peeve...honestly, it's really annoying how Ross places the price and size stickers on the interior of the shoe. I practically ruined the shoe as I peeled and scraped the tags from the insert. Truth be told that I have seen people who simply leave the tags in the shoe, but come on, I'm trying to flash my designer look like I got some swag going on and I don't need a discount label to front me off like a poser. Didn't find the shoes, but found a blouse, set of queen size sheets, three picture frames and a small rack for my bathroom--total $43 plus change! So I get to the register and associate number 6400 named Britney was not friendly ALL.So as she is putting the things in the bag I noticed that she was balling everything up. I got a comforter set and bed sheet. The bed sheet - when I washed it before putting it on the bed for the first time, the fitted sheet won't even cover the mattress on the side and the pillow case because so rough when it clearly says its 600 thread count. I think they switched it. The comforter, it doesn't even fall on the sides long enough to cover the mattress. I think they label it queen but it is really for Full size. Makes me want to think again before buying from Ross. read more

I happened to be in the area and decided to check this Ross out. It's clean, decently organized & as with all Ross Stores, you are greeted upon entering. I've been looking for a new purse but will NOT buy any purse that is made in China-- esp. leather. I was extremely pleased to find a purse to my liking that was made in Italy. I cannot guarantee that this particular Ross will always have Italian leather purses-- but at least on this visit there was one to my liking waiting for me--and I don't have to worry that my purse will bark at me when I go to use it. read more

I just got back from this store. I picked up a couple things - got in line to check out. There were at least 10 people in line - and one checker. In the meantime the store manager, security and one check person were all at the front door chit chatting and making sure people didn't walk in with coffee or a basket from the neighboring stores!! I asked the manager what was the deal - a second checker had finally opened - she said she was not allowed to leave the front door - guess security needs help with those Starbucks people.
