I'm 39 years old and I've been shopping at Hot Topic since I was in high school. My oldest daughter is now 12 and for the past couple of years it's been a fight with her to find clothing that she actually likes. I never brought her to Hot Topic because she couldn't fit the clothes yet. A few months ago, I started bringing her here and she is finally at home. This is definitely her style and she always finds tons of things that she wants. I can't explain how nice it is to actually have somewhere to take her shopping now. And with Christmas around the corner, I'm sure everything she gets is probably gonna be from here. Hahaha! Also, all of the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. It's nice coming to places like this where people have their own personal style that actually matches with the work environment because they know what they're selling and can find you other items with characters or shows that you're interested in. And they are always willing to check the system to see if they can order you something online. This is definitely going to be a spot that we frequent from now on. read more

Hot Topic has stuck around for a long time and over the years it has adjusted with the times and trends while keeping the essence of what it's always been. I get nostalgic walking in here, though as I've aged I've become a lot less impulsive with my purchases. They still carry the typical emo attire, accessories and more along with band tee shirts that were a staple in my closet growing up. However, you'll find a lot more pop culture cartoons, shows and characters including pokemon, disney, studio ghibli and whatever else is popular at the moment. They also carry a wider selection of novelty backpacks and purses and clothing options inspired by characters and fandoms. You'll find deals available in their clearance section as well as around the store and they have a loyalty club that apparently gives you extra rewards. At this point I'm most interested in the pop culture items and love the studio ghibli options. You can also shop online and have items "shipped to store" or to your house. On our recent visit the staff members were on top of things asking us if we were looking for anything, but allowed us to browse when we said we were just looking. read more

They used to have Once Upon a Time merchandise back when the show was on the air. Most of my shirts and dresses came from this store. They also always have a lot of Disney merchandise. In general, I would recommend buying online over in-store. The clearance racks hardly ever have anything good. The graphic tees are overpriced - $24 to $30 for a short-sleeve shirt with a simple graphic on the front. The store might have 30% off, but you'll likely get more for your money if you check online for deals since they sometimes have 50% off. It feels like the store does things that make it harder for you to shop. At the entrance, they put out a clothing rack and forced so many hangers on there that it was difficult to browse. Enamel pins are locked up behind glass. Understandable that they're wary of shoplifters, but it makes for a poor customer experience. It's inconvenient because the prices are on the back of the packaging. That means you need an associate to unlock the case to know the price. They grab each one you're interested in and tell you the price, you can't look leisurely. Here, enamel pins are usually $7+. If you didn't know beforehand and that's not a price that you want to pay, it feels like you've essentially wasted the associate's time. If you're not the type that's comfortable with saying that you're no longer interested, you might feel pressured to buy. If you say you want one, the associate takes it to the cashier's desk and you're to let the cashier know when you check out. Just put the price somewhere visible so it saves everyone the hassle. read more

Hot Topic - HOT TOPIC was the subject of one of my all-time favorite SOUTH PARK episodes! - Men's Clothing Near Me - Sacramento, California

Hot topics is a store listed under fashion in Yelp. Yeah, not exactly what I would call fashionable looks! Got a call from my wife's sister that her two teenage sons are into the Goth look, and would like some T shirts of In Flames, Storm Warrior, Panaterra, System of a Down, Anti Flag, and Beastie Modey. Not exactly household names! I check out San Jose and Sacramento, and find that there's a chain store called Hot Topics that caters to such fashion looks. The store in San Jose is in the Westgate Mall next to Steven Creek and Highway 17. After my experience with the 49er team store, I'm not going back to that traffic inferno! Big mistake. The Hot Topics store in Sacramento is located in the Arden Faire, a monster shopping mall, which makes Westgate shopping mall look like a kiddy playground! We get there the Saturday after Christmas at 2pm in the afternoon, and there is the mother of all traffic jams, with endless lines of cars trying to make left turns into the mall. Parking tougher than Levi stadium on game day. We luck out and find a spot farthest away from the mall, right next to a monster pickup truck, backed in right on the parking line. A prime spot to get rear ended backing out! Hot Topics is located on the 2nd floor right outside of the Macys. Big bright white shopping mall. Small dark store, with endless rows of black clothing, black T-shirts, chain belts, probably make-up, and other fashion items. Hey, Halloween was two months ago! As I walk in, a lady clerk immediately comes up to me, sizing me up that I'm definitely going to need help here! She's got a black shirt, and tight jeans on, hair sticking straight up, possum eye shadows, black lipstick with a ring through her nose! How charming! So I give her the list of six bands, and she's says right away that they only have T-shirts for two of the bands. We check out those two bands, and find out they are out of size large -only small and medium. My nephews are really size small, but they want the 'in look' with the T-shirts draped over them, down to their knees! We get out of there without a purchase and head for the nephews' house. Family get together, with the nephews wearing black shirts with white Frankenstein lettering, chains around their waists, shaved heads, with pink mohawk hair cuts! Came here to pick up the Moana swimsuit I ordered online. It took over 2 weeks for the website to ship to the store so I was getting anxious. It finally shipped and delivered to this store rather quickly. I drove to the store to pick it up. The smell of the store is sooo bad, I can't explain it. Smells like body odor or something. I waited in line and there were 2 employees helping customers in front of me. When it was my turn I told the girl about my package. She asked for my ID so naturally I took it out and showed it to her. Instead of getting my package, she instead took a piece of paper and wrote down a Starbucks order which I found was rather rude. She places the Starbucks paper under the register then went off to get my order. She opened the bag and told me to look inside. I did and it looked good. Then she just stood there and waited for me to be done. Then she said I am "all set." Whatever. I went home and tried the swimsuit, the bottom felt loose and the top was too tight, so I have to go back and return it. Ugh not looking forward to going back to that smelly-arse store. Came in here for the reason of finding transparent glasses to put together an outfit. I was helping my friend put together an outfit with the theme of FASHIONABLY GEEKY. We had to get the transparent glasses. What is really cool is that when we went here on AUGUST 13, 2012...there was this CRAZY Sale. It's like buy one get the second one 50% off. So my friend bought another pair of funny sunglasses that were super round with yellow crazy eyes. This store has the coolest things ever. Nice clothes and also cool accessories. I just recently went into the store to browse while I was on my 15mins break, and when I walked in no one greeted me , and that was okay you know because everyone was busy.. There was one guy who worked there we made eye contact I was expecting a hello or something but he doesn't say anything.. So I proceed to browse right in front of the belly button, and nose ring case ! and he turns around walks by me one more time.. continuing to just look at me failing to ask me if I need any help although I was looking into the jewelry case that needed to be opened if I needed anything.. I turn around to get in line and there's another colleague looking directly at me ... not saying anything.. This made me feel super uncomfortable and I'm not one to pull the race card but I am a African American woman, and just the way they were looking at me and kinda following me around wasn't cool . 6/30/17 Stopped by the mall looking to kill some time because our hotel check-in wasn't for another 3 hours. We came to this Hot Topic in search of some funny hats to wear for our outdoor adventures we were planning for the next day. I always enjoy coming to Hot Topic because they always have clothing/accessories that have references to pop culture or things that remind you of childhood. Unfortunately, I did not find a hat I liked but I spend the remainder of my time here looking at the huge clearance section. They had plenty of cosplay costumes and t-shirts that were 50% off. what a steal! read more

This store is trash. Had 2 packages ship to store cause it seemed safer/easier. WRONG!! 1st package; I had ordered around when school started and there was a major sale. This pushed it back from shipment for about 3 weeks. NO email updates or anything, just had to keep checking my account. So about 3 weeks in I call and ask what's going on at the store. They tell me to call back. So I wait a week and a 1/2, call and they say it's "here. I'm holding it in my hands right now." She confirmed because the status online hadn't updated. So I go up there to pick up the package, they're looking everywhere, the back but also the front as the girl was "up here on the phone with you with the box out front to have claimed it was in her hands." Cool whatever. 20 mins go by and they can't find the shit ‍. Now they claim "no one signed off on THAT package arriving so we guess it did NOT come. We'll call customer service to reorder." Great more wait time, but this time I ship it to my house. The real slap inter face was when the girl handed me for "Hot Cash" instead of a gift card for $5-15. "Hot Cash" basically is $15 off every $30 you spend.... meaning my "COMPLIMENTARY GIFT FOR YOUR TROUBLES" REQUIRES me to spend more money there 2nd package; Ordered 9/14. Goes a lot more smoothly possibly the "big school sale" was really a thing. My package comes, I pick it up. Simple right?? WRONG!! I get home and try my clothes on and they aren't the size/look I was going for. Life goes on(I'm an in home caregiver who regularly does 16 hour days) and now it's basically 2 weeks later from my PICK UP DATE by the time I go to exchange. When I get there, the first person doesn't even know the policy and makes things seem good to go, as if they can easily do everything. However he is New doesn't know shit, and just speaking positively to please me momentarily. He calls the guy over who can who scans my order and says "this was order on the 14 and it's past the window to return" (it's the 24 of October now). So I ask "So it doesn't matter that it was ordered online meaning it needs PROCESSING TIME, SHIPPING TIME, THEN PICK UP TIME frame windows". Julius Jawbreaker goes "I really shouldn't even be touching this, BUT I'll EXCHANGE IT for you, NO refunds." Oh honey I know you need this job so let me not. In the end they worked with me as they always do, even though this last situation I think the policy need to be changed because of FUCKING LOGIC ON HOW TIME WITH ONLINE ORDERS GO!! All in all if they didn't have nostalgic shit I wouldn't even go in here. Oh Hot Topic, I remember when you were fondly called "Hot Gothic". Back in the day when you were simply a sea of black clothes, stompy boots, body jewelry and albums for the goths, punks, metalheads and assorted alt scene kids. Over the years, Hot Topic has changed. I can remember the first time I saw a Disney backpack in a HT, I just about sh*t a black brick. I thought it was April Fools Day! If you go in there now, it's full of licensed cartoon character merchandise, neon sneakers, rainbow tutus, pink glitter jewelry and random clothing I'd assume one of the LMFAO guys would sport. But I can't completely sneer my gothy sneer at HT, because they do still have little corners of clothes for us club kids. I now do most of my goth clothes shopping online but It's nice to have a local brick & mortar store to get my spike and fishnet kicks at (just in case I still don't have an outfit before the club, I know there's somewhere I can grab a bustier from.) Just bought a pair of mesh cut-out pants there on clearance for like $20... can't argue with that! read more

Yes, it's Hot Topic. I usually hate coming in here because it's filled with scene kids, emo kids, and butt rockers. But if I see an awesome band tee or some cute heels, I'll take a quick browse. I used to shop here when I was in my pre-teens and I'm so embarrassed when I look back at old photos of me and see some of the garb that I used to sport from this store. We're talking bondage pants and ties! GROSS! And I thought that I actually looked good! Ugh. Anyways, moving on to the rest of my review, I came in here a few weeks ago with my boyfriend just to do some looking around and maybe see if they had any new punk tees. I was shocked to see that they had a Cramps shirt! Normally, I could only find these online and had never gotten around to actually buying one, so I decided to pick it up while I had the chance. I usually avoid buying any other sort of clothing here because a lot of is very cheaply made. Even if I see a cute halter top or a dress, I'll steer clear. I once bought a pink leopard print halter from here and after only wearing it once the zipper wouldn't stay up and the fabric felt stiff. I still give HT 3 stars because they have some pretty awesome memorabilia in here from time to time. When I bought my Cramps tee I also picked up my Rocko's Modern Life tote because, let's face it, if you were a 90's kid this was one of the BEST shows on Nickelodeon! And I love carrying it out and about and see people get a big smile on their face when they recognize Rocko and Spunky on it. I also like getting Iron Fist heels from HT if they ever have pairs that I like. Sometimes their stock is limited and sometimes not every location carries them but if that's the case then I'll just check online. read more

If you're an avid collector of comic related merchandise, this is one big toy store! I recently gave in to funko pop figurines after years of not starting a collection. They are always getting in shipments, yet there are so many collectors, they get bought as soon as they arrive. The good thing is that there's always chances you'll find a bogo deal or hot cash when it comes around. During these times, finding the funko you want may be a problem, but the stock comes in and out more than once. It was just within this last year that I noticed the popularity has increased tremendously in comparison to prior years. Most of the time they are usually tentative to your needs and willing to assist whenever you have questions. I have never had any issues with staff being rude or unhelpful. Occasionally it does get busy, so sometimes it may take a minute to get assistance. read more

They also have a wide election of your favorite marvel or Pokemon characters for shirts and other cool items. If you have a young teenager at home looking for these types of stuff for their birthday, go to hot topic. i like this store a lot. they always have a lot of sales from clothes to accessories. They always have the popular items on sale and keep the trend going. for example lately pikachu is big hit, or tortoro, and harley quinine. so they have lots of those items, from jewelry to clothes, and stuff animals. they have plenty of different useful items to collector items for that specific trend. the store is small and on the darker dim side. the space isn't too big and can be crowded during the holidays or on a busy day. the staffs there are nice and approachable. the staffs always ask you if everything is ok, if you need help, or how you are doing. i like the friendly environment with lots of cool stuff. once you walk into the store they always have the feature character, anime, or cartoon on display along with all the accessories that goes with it. then on the left side of the wall they have a whole wall filled with pop figures which are so adorable and if you look closely some of them are labeled with exclusively for hot topic. then on the back wall on the left side they have tons of t shirts. in the middle back of the store they have all the clearance clothing. and on the right side of the stores they have all the girly and cute things. also with tons of backpacks to bags on sale. also by the register they have all the jewelry on display. they do sell a lot of t shirts. the t shirts are cool and more on the expensive side. they run from 20 and up easily. they have lots of funky bags to backpacks which look different. they do have lots of jewelry for belly button, and tongue rings too if you love piercings. a lot of hipster and cute designs too. overall this store is unique, they do have lots of sale from time to time, and friendly helpful staffs. and a good place to explore and have fun looking at the little nicknacks. also great for collectors who love to find them rare exclusive pop figures. if you find this review helpful, please vote for it. and follow or add me if you like my review, thanks! read more

This is more of the online customer service. I loved going to hot topic to get something simple as an anime tshirt or mugs. But I took a chance on ordering online.. I order my items on December 2nd. Figured it'll give it plenty of time to get here before Christmas since it'll be busy. So I waited for my order, December 12th came and I decided to see if I can track the package. It stated that my order was delivered December 7th. Ofcourse I haven't received anything so I emailed and called hot topic the following morning. The customer representative was trying to help me, she explained that my order was split into 2 orders. And the first one should of arrived on the 7th and the rest on the 13th, which was the day I spoke to her. She replaced my 1 tshirt for my niece, which they didn't have the size I order so I had to go a size up. I checked my email and received the eta for my package was December 13th now. I waited and waited by the front door, kept thinking the worst like some one might of stolen my package from my front door or something. Nothing came. I received another email the next day saying that it was getting delivered the 14th now. nothing. So I emailed them and was pretty upset. I received another email this morning stating that they received more orders then what they expected so the carriers they were using is delayed.. That's not my problem! The emailed also stated that my package will get here today.. December 16th. It is now 5:49 pm.. the only package I received just now is the 1 tshirt replacement that the customer representative sent out to me on December 13th.. I've emailed them earlier about just refunding me since I wasted my money and time, as frustrating as this was, the email they replied back just states that my package is arriving today. I've been shopping at hot topic for ten years now and it's all pretty standard: Pop culture, music, anime, cute accessories. Whenever I go to the mall, this is always the first store I go to. The customer service is great, they cleaned up the isles so it isn't as packed anymore, and the music there is always excellent. The shirts look great and almost always have all the sizes. The jewelry is great and doesn't look cheap or fake at all. I went into the store yesterday to purchase some items that I really wanted, when it came my turn to pay for my items while waiting in line, a woman with glasses, who is white, was making my transactions. I gave her a $100 bill, because I needed to break my $100 Anyways, she looked at it and put it up in the light to see if it was real or not. She took about a minute trying to figure out if it was real or not and it was real by the way. Then she went and got another worker, who I'm assuming was the manager and asked her about it, the manager then looked at it and took her time to also determine if it was real or not. So of course I'm feeling like crap because I'm a Latina and I'm here waiting for these two women to realize that it's a real $100 that I got right from the bank. The manager came and told me she can't accept it, that she doesn't trust me, and doesn't trust the bill just because the bill had a red mark on it. Money goes around, everywhere, I sometimes get a $5 that's all marked up in different colors, with markers. This $100 had a mark on top of the bill, it was from a red marker, that somebody had put on it, it wasn't even big by the way, it was just a mark, a red line. So I was pissed, and left. I went to Spencer's which is next to Hot Topic and I decided to purchase something there with the same $100 and the guy working there was pleased, and didn't even look at the bill twice, he looked once and made my transaction. Well, there you go. I wasn't happy, and I felt like crap because I looked like if I had fake money which I didn't but that's how the two girls at hot topic made me feel like. I wish I knew their names so I can write it down, but I don't know their names. FUCK YOU hot topic at Arden fair mall, for not trusting me because of the fact that I'm a Latina and that's what it was.
