This is one of my favorite stores! They have great merchandise for different shows and movies. They always have Harry Potter merchandise. They used to have Once Upon a Time merchandise back when the show was on the air. Most of my shirts and dresses came from this store. They also always have a lot of Disney merchandise. Online offers a wider selection too.

HOT TOPIC was the subject of one of my all-time favorite SOUTH PARK episodes!

Don't laugh - this is a SERIOUS yelp-review. =^..^= SITREP Really! There is some very cool sh*t here! Of course, I can't step into any one of these chain-stores anymore without the SOUTH PARK song (with clever pseudo-Peter Murphy-voice singing forth the lyrics) going through my head... "Burn down down, burn down Hot Topic. Don't let it steal your soul away. Burn down, burn down Hot Topic. Light the fire. Take control. ...Burn down... Hot Topic. Burn it down... Hot Topic." Yeah. There's THAT. COOL SH*T! But "THAT" doesn't diminish the fact that I've gotten some extremely cool sh*t here! * Metal Fashion Accessories & Pendants * Awesome XXL Black T-Shirts of Death Metal Bands (that I actually don't listen to, but they make for lounging on the couch really really comfy) * Hella Cool Buttons * [Cute Sales Representatives with Multi-colored Hair & Faux-Mohawks, really!] * Did I say Awesome XXL Black T-Shirts of Bands that I don't listen to? * Some excellent compilation CDs on sale of EBM & Industrial Bands (which actually makes some bands available to me when I can't access them on iTunes because they may be a BIT too obscure). * Occasionally some black collared XXL shirts and XL pants I can actually fit into - but believe me that is not often * And other cool random items such as lighters, make-up cases, shoes, slippers, etc. etc., that all have some cool, dark association to them. SET-UP So HOT TOPIC is one fun place - out of many boring places in Arden Faire Mall - where I can actually get my "goth-industrial-EBM on" and look for the totally random items for the sheer fun and odd-factors. Cause if you are looking for BLACK clothes....need I say more? =^..^= COSTS The store really does it's best to keep costs low, considering their CORE youthful, very hip, yet unemployed living-at-home, anarchist (and at times self-cutting, self-mutilation) demographic. Other than thrifting at CrossRoads, Salvation Army, or other thrift stores, you probably won't find lower prices on your most necessary BLACK attire - that is BLACK available in ALL 7-different shades....of BLACK. THE LOWDOWN Seriously, I love this store - and it's easier for me to just focus on shopping here now since I don't tend to hit on the young goth girls anymore.....(however, emphasis on "tend to"...) ;^D

Hot topics is a store listed under fashion in Yelp. Yeah, not exactly what I would call fashionable looks! Got a call from my wife's sister that her two teenage sons are into the Goth look, and would like some T shirts of In Flames, Storm Warrior, Panaterra, System of a Down, Anti Flag, and Beastie Modey. Not exactly household names! I check out San Jose and Sacramento, and find that there's a chain store called Hot Topics that caters to such fashion looks. The store in San Jose is in the Westgate Mall next to Steven Creek and Highway 17. After my experience with the 49er team store, I'm not going back to that traffic inferno! Big mistake. The Hot Topics store in Sacramento is located in the Arden Faire, a monster shopping mall, which makes Westgate shopping mall look like a kiddy playground! We get there the Saturday after Christmas at 2pm in the afternoon, and there is the mother of all traffic jams, with endless lines of cars trying to make left turns into the mall. Parking tougher than Levi stadium on game day. We luck out and find a spot farthest away from the mall, right next to a monster pickup truck, backed in right on the parking line. A prime spot to get rear ended backing out! Hot Topics is located on the 2nd floor right outside of the Macys. Big bright white shopping mall. Small dark store, with endless rows of black clothing, black T-shirts, chain belts, probably make-up, and other fashion items. Hey, Halloween was two months ago! As I walk in, a lady clerk immediately comes up to me, sizing me up that I'm definitely going to need help here! She's got a black shirt, and tight jeans on, hair sticking straight up, possum eye shadows, black lipstick with a ring through her nose! How charming! So I give her the list of six bands, and she's says right away that they only have T-shirts for two of the bands. We check out those two bands, and find out they are out of size large -only small and medium. My nephews are really size small, but they want the 'in look' with the T-shirts draped over them, down to their knees! We get out of there without a purchase and head for the nephews' house. Family get together, with the nephews wearing black shirts with white Frankenstein lettering, chains around their waists, shaved heads, with pink mohawk hair cuts! Family picture with all the relatives, sans nephews!

They never ask if you would like to join their rewards program. They just do it casually.

The lady working, Summer, immediately greeted us while finishing up her chat with some other shoppers. Once they left it was only my sister Jamie and I remaining in the shop. Summer approached with the typical ice breaking questions...."how are you? What are you shopping for?" Our response "Good, thank you, we're only looking." As we were thumbing threw hangers, anything my sister touched Summer was right there to size and style her. Grabbing more than what my sister was looking at and setting up a dressing room for her. Anytime Jamie would ask me something, Summer would answer for me while piling more clothes into the dressing room Summer decided she needed. Fast forward to cashing out, Jamie ended up with 6 items, 2 of the items she was unsure of and felt pushed into getting. But figured she'll return them if needed. Three days later Jamie decides she wants to return the two items, so we head back down to Wild Poppy Co. We get there, we're at the register with the owner of Wild Poppy Co. Everything was cool until the owner pulled out a gift card. Jamie hesitated a little and asked if she could get her money back. Leaving in two days to fly back to the east coast, a gift card was not useful for her. And buying more of their product didn't sit comfortably with either of us. The owner explained their return policy (10 days to return an item and money spent on that item you will get back on a gift card) and when Jamie had shared that wasn't part of Summers conversation with us, the Owner reassured us (gaslight tf outta of us) that "Summer is usually really good at telling people the return policy." It was obvious that we both were uncomfortable in the lack of regard provided by the owner. Jamie left with a gift card to a store that neither of us, and hopefully others, will not be returning to. If mean-girls from high-school is your vibe, this is your store!
