I frequent this Ross often and I've always found something. Yes this location is messy, but what Ross isn't? Sometimes the line is short and sometimes it's long, but that's the price you pay for lesser priced items. I would recommend, they have a good toddler book selection and art supply section during Christmas time. Parking is it or miss because sometimes I get a spot up front or sometimes it's in the back. I found a nice warm jacket on sale once this year, so it really depends what you're looking for, and how long or hard your willing to look! read more

Asking me why I dress the way I do, talking loud about my appearance in front of everyone. Calling my sister fat, and telling me I should get my boobs done to match my clothing preferences. I was in SJ while the roommate was working. Since I had time to kill and no one to hang with, I decided to go shopping. I'm definitely a bargain hunter, so decided to check out Ross. I got here on Saturday, March 30th around 5:15pm. I ended up finding a red dress on sale. It was a juniors dress, but the back was really cute. Lace and kind of open. The best part? It was only $7.49! I didn't have an occasion to wear it to, but a girl can never have enough dresses on hand right? I was really happy with my find. So why the low stars? The wait to buy it! I spend a good amount of time waiting to check out. I'm thinking like 20+ mins! There was a huge line and only two cashiers! Plus, I believe one cashier was dedicated to returns and exchanges only? I was wishing I could stand in that line cuz it was taking forever. I almost gave up and just said F the dress. But I had nowhere to be, so I just waited. I am not sure is this the same Ross store that I went through before, but one of the black African soap inside things has been swapped out to laundry detergent that smells like something I smell when I was a kid. Would recommend anyone buy body wash soap, or anything liquid here try to check that before buy them since most sales have limited amount of time to return, and some sale are finals? Hasn't returning anything here for a long time so I am not sure how that work now. You have to look for clothes as always. There was one of the Viet costumers, which try to get me give her my clothes multiple times, making friend with me. She gave me a bunch of card with numbers to call to look for job, and end up in dead end. Thought she was nice? But then she starting to touch me in the car when we driving a bit. That freak me out, especially she did mentioned that she also married? Long story short...I guess not making friend with random people that meet at Ross is a better idea. Have worked here during the holiday season. The store can be a little crazy but the is the typical Ross experience. The workers do their absolute best to maintain the store clean and the cash registers are doing their best to move the line. All i can say is be patient. I was at Ross this evening. The security guard, Mike, should not be the person everybody walking out of the store should deal with. He was insulting. A female customer asked him if he could move some carts so she could walk through the aisle to get out of the store. Mind you, there were four carts, and she could not get her cart through to walk out of the store. He told a customer to have a bad day. Of all the businesses that have shut down during Covid, Ross is *thriving.* They have opened 39 new stores amid the Pandemic. Yup, you read that right. And while I don't really shop here, I have a friend who has done extremely well buying and reselling items from Ross for his Ebay store. If you see those $14.99 Crocs in a size 13 and wonders who will buy them? He will. And he'll sell them for $40 on Ebay. That's just one of the many items he can find here to re-sell. One night for a little adventure, I followed him along on his thrifting scavenger hunts to see exactly how he does it. Walking through this Ross you can tell that it's one of the higher traffic locations as the line to check out was long. People were steadily coming in and out of the store as late as 9:45pm. The aisles were disorganized and what should have been a white shiny floor was often marred by a film of dirt. (Think of kids spilling their sippy cups out of their strollers.) The entire store could use a good sweeping + mopping. This is definitely one of those places where I wouldn't want to use the bathroom even if I had to. When you read the other reviews about the checkout lines, this was my exact same experience. But I'm in the minority as I don't mind lines at all. Lines = time for me to people watch, be curious about all the snacks that they're trying to tempt me to buy in the checkout line, and seeing what other high end products from department stores that they have in the display cases. Then again, I didn't really have to be anywhere after either. While I'll never be a thrift shopper, it was a fun little experience and I'll do it again just to hang out with my friend who re-sells on ebay. Because that's fascinating in itself. read more

If I could give zero stars I would - the most rude interaction I have ever witnessed. This is only based on an interaction with an employee who is a disgrace to customer service. My niece went to try on clothes and the employee decided to make a comment to her, saying she should get the small mole on her nose removed. Who does that ?? Why would an employee be so rude to a teenager for NO reason?? People like this employee are absolutely the problem in this world - unhappy people intentionally hurting others with words. No wonder this employee works at Ross, any establishment with real customer service skills wouldn't allow people like this to represent them. I am quite sad to see all the bad reviews. I grew up around this area and have been to this location numerous times. It's actually my favorite location compares to the other Ross in the area. There is always more items and options on the rack. I never had a bad experience where I would give them one star... This review is primarily based on today's visit though. This location has always been busy with people yelling or talking very loudly to each other. Despite all the commotions, majority of the racks were pretty organize and stocked in my opinion. I've never seen it so organize in the past so I was pretty shock myself. I was able to find quite a few items - all items were $15.99 or less. Definitely a steal compare to the mall. The floor and fitting room are not in the best condition so watch out for that. The line is long per usual and customers are not wrong when they said they literally had only 2-3 cashiers. One mainly focus on the returns/exchange. If you're in a rush or are impatient, please don't come here. You'll definitely be leaving empty handed or angry. I wish I had asked for the cashier's name today because she was great! Very friendly, quick with all transactions, and asked how the customers are doing. I am very disappointed at the Ross boss. She kicked me and my friends out even tho we had no problems. We were all just trying to pitch in for a gift for my friend cristian. He's the nicest friend. We just wanted to get him something before he moved to Texas. Unfortunately now he's gonna leave without anything special from me and my friends. We are very sad and disappointed. This location in particular is not the best compared to other Ross Stores. I rarely come here to shop, but came here recently to look for some cheap Spring blouses. The store itself seemed cluttered, messy and there was already a line snaking around the cashiers in the front. I went straight to the bags, shoes and women's section then to the juniors. It's hard to look for items when a good amount of the items are on the floor. I did find some awesome pieces for Spring, mostly sheer button up blouses. Be sure to TRY everything on, they might look cute on the hanger but I soon found many blouses to look cheap and found flaws once I tried clothes on. The place has a decent fitting room and a bathroom (unisex). The women's section takes up the majority of the store so ... sorry fellas. Yay for us women! There's usually always a line at the register, so I went on my mini hunt waited in line and left happily. Probably one of the most disorganized and understaffed Ross around San Jose. No matter what time you come here, there's only 2 cashiers and a long line of people trying to check out. Security guards are rude here and don't know their company policies. I was told that I cannot bring my dog in with me unless I hold him the entire time or put him in a cart. That's so unsanitary, who in the world, wants to use a cart I had my dog in? I don't understand why I can't just walk my dog leashed along side with me in the store. I decided not to give this location business and drove all the way to the Brokaw location instead. That being said, I reached out to corporate about this. Ross is a dog friendly store & that is something they pride themselves in. I asked corporate if I'm allowed to bring my dog leashed to shop along side with me. I got a response within 3 days of reaching out and here's their response to me: "Dear Kelly: Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Ross does not prohibit animals in our Stores since many of our customers shop with service animals. Leashed pets are welcome while shopping. Our goal is to accommodate all of our customers and we apologize if this policy negatively impacted your shopping experience. We appreciate your business and hope that you will continue to shop with us. " My only ask is that Ross hires employees that are knowledgeable about their company policies and are in sync with corporate. Stop making ad-hoc policies that don't make sense and parlay with corporate's. I hope the employees here clean up their act, or Ross replaces them with people who are more nicer and friendly like the greeter at the Brokaw location. read more

Her name tag said lupita while we were in line still browsing through the stuff at the checkout line with no one in line behind us she yells out " are you guys ready twice " and we said no. Awful customer service I received from the store manager. I came in today to return some shirts that didn't fit. The cashier for some reason couldn't help me return the items, also had a hard time understanding her. I asked the cashier to bring in the manager so I can figure out why I can't return my shirts that were never worn. Manager comes in and off the bat horrible attitude accuses me of using all 3 shirts because according to her they smelled like cologne? Also she seemed a little off like she was on drugs her eyes were red as hell looked like she was smoking a bowl in the back. To those individuals who made comments to me after you also bitched about waiting in line. Well, there are people that are paid to evaluate stores and any one of us could have been that secret shopper so employees should always be alert and put customers first. As the saying goes customer service is key and without customers, employees don't get a paycheck or have a job. So the one star goes to the Filipino cashier that always goes above and beyond to help the customers. She along with a select few for example loss prevention who were doing their job gave great customer service. The others... not so much so that's why someone should know. So this is not only for the store in general but, the customers too - who also had a few comments to shell out. To the person who said this is better than the lines at Costco. I was not shopping for toiletries or disinfectants so the long line and wait at Ross was uncalled for. To the person who said what do you expect this is Ross and not Nordstrom's. I don't care if it's the Dollar store or Bloomingdales, customer service is key regardless what type of store we go into. Just because it is Ross, I don't expect customer service to be any less. To those who pretended to side with the girl in the returns line trying to defend the male worker (who put the jewelry customers ahead of well over 3 dozen + customers in line) and turn some customers on me after some of you also initially complained about the long line, the long wait and the lack of cashiers available for check out... Think about it, she really didn't mind because she was already at the front of the returns line, when all the rest of you were stuck in the long checkout line behind me. Which if I were you, I would've been more concerned because with the outbreak of the COVID-19, you all were standing very close to one another bunched up like sardines. That women made a fool of all of you because, she bumped her own place in line by going to the return line to eventually buy all of her stuff. She didn't care about anyone else but herself and getting out of there fast. I get it, long lines are becoming frequent but, that's in stores that are selling disinfectants and toiletries not clothes, shoes and general household items - that are going to save us if we get quarantined for several weeks!!! The long line at Ross are and were unnecessary. As with any retail establishment, customer service is key. The male employee who help the jewelry customers should have considered several of us had been in line for a very long time and should have asked the customer (who's buying jewelry) to please step in line and wait like the rest of us (just like they do at every other Ross). On the other hand, the manager should've stepped up and opened up a register if her employees were busy or she didn't have enough employees to check out customers. Realistically the long lines and wait times could and can be avoided. Retail is a job about attending to the customers and if you don't like your job, you are not proficient at it or are just frustrated about having to deal with customers on a daily basis who may or may not be difficult then, this may not be the job for you. Now with that being said, sometimes you have to work in a low paying job because you don't have a choice and that's understandable but, at the same time, if you need to work be aware that customers are a part of it - whether you like it or not. Now with that being said, I did purchase what I was waiting in line for but, I will be returning everything and shop solely at Marshall's from here on out. You go in with a vague idea of what you want, and come out with either something close to it, or something totally different. I like to go to this Ross for pet supplies, crafting stuff, toys, and sometimes dresses. At times it can be hard to find my size in Ross stores. Since it tends to be the popular size 2's & 3's for women jeans. So you are of a bigger size 6,8,10+. You may have more luck in finding cloths in your size. Same with dresses. However remember this Ross always has a long line....so make sure you go when you are not in a rush. read more

Before i start with this review I want to make note that there are multiple other write ups on this same employee "Nee Nee". She was rude from the get go! I wanted to return a sweater. I HAD A RECEIPT. There were no tickets on the sweater though. She acted like I was ruining her life from the moment I walked up to her counter. Her body language and glare was awful! I saw that it was very busy so I even tried sympathizing with her. She wouldn't take my return because the sweater didn't have tags on it. (you could see the exact sweater on the receipt). I've made many return to various places including Ross and as long as I had the receipt it was fine. I respectfully asked her where can I see the return policy. She rudely said "its on the back of the receipt". I looked on the back of the receipt. Doesn't say antyhing about the item being returned needing to have tickets still attached. I said respectfully "I don't see that on here". She rudely replied something like "cmon lady, you don't think I know our return policy, look on line". So while standing there I looked online and nothing about the item needing tags attached other than lingerie, underware and jewelry. So I respectfully asked to talk to the manager. Nee Nee said to the manager loud enough for me to hear "I'm so sick of these privileged people". Guessing she stereotyped me because I'm white. Pretty sure the manager was scared of Nee Nee to. I started recording her just to show how rude she was, but they got pissed off and wouldn't do the return. I calmly and respecfully left. Went to another Ross in town. Employee super nice and took the return NO PROBLEM! Nee Nee if you read this, even though I'm annoyed with you, I seriously hope you find peace in your life. When you see your guests waiting in line... about 20 people deep, you should really consider opening another register. I'm giving this a 1 star based off of a man's experience.. So men... STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION! There are much better options elsewhere. The racks are never stacked at this location and when their underwear section -- my huge selling point at Ross, Marshall's, TJ -- is empty all the time, it raises concerns over whether or not I'd even want to come back.
