I liked the travel suitcases they had here, great selection of name brands such as Samonsite, Lucky Brand, Swissbrand, Olympia, etc. They have a good selection of socks for both men and women. They also have toys which make great gifts for children since Toys R us is no longer in business. Ross is a great place for these items. They have some rare make-up finds such as Clinique, Too Faced, Stila, etc. I saw a lot of Kate Spade bags that were some of the more popular bags. Decent selection of name brand perfume as well. This Ross is my go-to store in Ventura when looking for a party dress that fits at a reasonable price. I shop here often since the merchandise turns over quickly. You can try on 8 items at a time. I have found shoes, purses, exercise wear, luggage, and lots of dresses over the years. I use the self checkout and avoid the long line. There was someone helpful at the self checkout who made sure I got my Tuesday discount before I put in my credit card and removed those pesky security tags before I left the store. read more

Have you ever wonder how it feels to be a criminal and like that feeling of being watched! Well, don't look any further; just walk into this Ross store! My purpose for shopping there was for a laundry basket but this Security guy by the name of Brandon was watching like a hawk! Only reason I knew he was focus on me is because every time I moved isle, he moved too! I thought he was eventually going to leave me alone, once my family arrived! I was wrong! He was still in the middle of the isle focusing on us! We eventually found a basket and walk to the registers to purchase! He left that area, once we left the isle! Absolutely disgusting store. As I pushed open the door to enter, a nasty substance resembling snot got on my hand. The security guard posted at the front of the store would not allow me to use the bathroom to wash my hands and grudgingly gave me a paper towel when I asked for it. This store needs to add more men's clothes because woman are always buying up men's shirts, pants underwear and shoes. Some women buy stuff for the guys in their family, but we all know that a lot of them (especially the big girls) are buying men's clothing to wear themselves. It's 2025. I get it. I don't really care if woman want to cross dress in men's outfits. Let them. But Ross needs to stock up on more men's apparel so the woman can leave some stuff for us to buy. It's so hard to find anything to wear in this town already because there's less apparel for guys then there is gals. When woman cross dress in men's apparel there's not much left for us guys to buy. This is the Ross I go to and I live in Oxnard. Taxes are lower here and I feel like there's more inventory. I also like it's near other stores and not that far from the mall /other shopping centers so if I'm doing some shopping therapy - my session can be a long one. I do not get the bad customer service reviews , I have always had great experiences. The lines here are often long even though they have many cashiers and they all have been polite. I think I visit this Ross at least 3 to 4 times a month, sometimes more . My boyfriend gifts me gift cards from here as he knows this is my shopping place and Target of course . Could be cleaner but shoppers have no respect. I really do think they try their hardest to keep it tidy. I worked at Kmart as a teen and remember how disrespectful/messy shoppers could be. read more

I've shopped this Ross for 41years and have been insulted recently. I brought back a bra and top. They didn't fit. I'd tried them on briefly and removed them. I did not have them on for even a minute. They had all the tags attached and the receipt from 2 days prior. She put them to her nose sniffing them. She did it for awhile, while I pointed out I did not wear them. Then she called the manager who sniffed them. They told me "we'll take them this once". I am fastidiously clean, do not wear perfumes, and I smelled nothing in the garments. I'm not shopping there again. read more

I used this store for my Amazon pickups so I went here a couple of times to pick up my packages before I decided, today, to shop around to see if I wanted anything. I ended up purchasing a top and some candy and went to the self check out. No one was over there besides me and the security lady at the checkout stand. I got my receipt and was walking by her, I was about to say "thank you" but she quickly cut me off and was like "let me see your receipt" so I was like "oh yeah" giving her my receipt because I figured it was protocol like they do at Walmart. Then she looks all through my bag, pulls out my top I just purchased and proceeds to scan it on her machine, and I thought all of this was normal until I heard one of the workers behind me say "what are you scanning?" My heart dropped because now I knew this was not the normal procedure. Then the security lady sees I purchased the top and quickly throws it back in my bag and says "okay thank you." Excuse me?? RUDE! UNPROFESSIONAL! ZERO STAR RATING!! While shopping at this Ross today, I was disrespected in the most unprofessional way possible. After shopping around the store I went to the dressing room to try on a couple items. They have a 8 item limit, so I took my 8 items and left the rest out there where the worker said i could leave them to try them on once i finished the first 8. I tried on my 8 items then went to get my other items and there were no workers there. I tried them on then left and when i went to rerun the clothes i didn't want to purchase there was a new worker . This elderly Indian women talked to me very rudely and tried arguing about having 10 items instead of 8 because she didn't know was she was talking about. Then as i continued to look around the store, a middle aged heavy set man than began to follow me around the store was staring and making me, as a women with my child very uncomfortable. I had gotten more clothes i wanted to try on and took to the dressing room, while in the dressing room an bigger African American Women came into the dressing room pacing up and down and looking under the curtains and talking to her coworkers on her head pieces. I then went to the self checkout TO PURCHASE MY ITEMS as one would do at a store. I purchased my items while be watched by an another heavy set, light skinned Mexican women. Without saying a word the same women walked up to the register before i could even walk away and reprinted the receipt so she could have a copy of her own, then proceeded to stare at my items in my arms from a distance. At the self Checkout they have a security that then took my receipt scanned it, then scanned every single one of my items. While the same women was hovering over not saying a word. This is very unprofessional and disrespectful. A professional worker who had so suspension would have very professional pulled me to the side and asked questions. Unlike any of these workers here ASSUMING WITH ZERO PROOF OF ANYTHING. I do not think a single worker here deserves to work here. VERY RUDE! VERY DISRESPECTFUL!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I want to thank the Manager Yesenia at the telephone location for going above and beyond to return a wallet that I had dropped at the parking lot. I had already given up hope in finding it since I did have cash in the wallet. Yesenia looked for me and informed me that one of her associates found it and took it in the store. I've always been a fan of this Ross Dress for Less! The parking lot can sometimes have limited parking, but after a few minutes of patience or a few extra steps you will be inside the store before you know it. There is sometimes sketchy activity in the parking area as well, so just be alert and keep an eye on your surroundings. The Ventura store is one of my favorite locations for jeans and shoes for women and a fairly good variety of shoes for girls. They also have a decent variety of bedding and bathroom items. Great prices and a pretty stocked location! The staff and security do a great job of keeping a safe and efficient flow, but unfortunately the customers look at something and literally just throw things wherever they can which sometimes leaves a messy place. You can't blame it on the staff because they are diligently working to straighten things back up. The bathrooms are pretty gross, so take care of business before or after you visit the store. read more

I love Ross but every single one our family ever shops in, they always pop out of nowhere or follow you while you shop! It's rude and annoying and makes one just end up leaving the store. I have never stolen in my life. Not welcoming atmosphere at all The value and selection are great but if they missed marking down items that other rosses have marked down , you have to pay the full price. They won't get a machine to check your items and fix their mistakes. I've been told they "aren't allowed " to do that. I LOVE this Ross! They have so many amazing shoes for half the price at this location. Adidas, Nike, vans..etc. I also really like all the houseware, pet and beauty products that they have. It has only been this location though. I've been to other Ross's and they just don't compare. I know wait times can be a pain with the long lines and parking but it's definitely woRth it for me considering all the treasures I've found. Lol read more

I would give zero stars if I could, came in for a refund, my items didn't have tags, but they did a receipt for items. I brought slim fit blue jeans, Reebok shoes, and leggings, all pretty self-explanatory on the receipt to find the items. they tried telling me at first the items weren't there and I said yes, they are. The only receipt I have I never come in here another girl came up, found the items on the receipt. I told her what they were slim, fit everything matched and she decided to refund me a wrong item that was cheaper just I wouldn't get the full amount refund that is not OK. You have two stand in line twice if you do the self checkout. You scan everything yourself, than you have to stand in line again so the can rescan and remove all security tags. Such as waste if the customer's time and defeats the purpose of self checkout. They only have one person doing the rescanning and removing of the security tags but four self checkout stands so it gets backed up quickly. read more

I purchased a bra at this Ross that ended up not fitting. Easy mistake to make when the fitting rooms have been closed for almost 2 years and the label on the tag lists the wrong size. I went in to return the bra about a week or so later and the loss protection officer by the front door tells me as I'm walking into the store that their credit/debit card reader is down, it's cash only and no returns or exchanges. That day I wasn't carrying cash so I just left. I came back the next day and the story remained the same. Walk in, no credit or debit AGAIN, cash only, AGAIN and no returns or exchanges, AGAIN. I left a 2nd time. Came back after about a week and a half since I was sick of going to Ross only for them to have an excuse for me as to why I can't purchase or return an item. This particular day they seemed to have everything under control...until it came time to purchase or make a return or exchange. There were three people up front-2 cashiers-one for returns/exchanges, one for purchases and one other person who it seemed was only there to stand around, fold clothes, talk and greet people who came in the door. This was not bad until the line started to back up. It started to back up first with the register, and the greeter person ( I think she's actually a manager?) just kind of looked on and did nothing but continue to fold clothes while the line just got longer and longer. It started to back up even in the returns line since there was a lady who had a complex return and the one cashier in charge of returns clearly did not know how to handle the situation. This went on for about 10 minutes until finally the line had backed up to 12 people in line to purchase and 4 people in line to return and exchange. THEN and only then did the greeter/manager jump in to help out and took over the complex return. She then instructed the other cashier to help a woman who had JUST WALKED IN look at jewelry. While the line continues to get long and those of us who have been waiting to return are just standing there. At this point the woman in front of me for her return just turned and walked out. I guess she was sick of waiting and I don't blame her one bit. I don't get why the greeter person directed the other cashier to help a customer who had been standing to look at jewelry instead of helping out the other customers who have been waiting for some minutes to receive service. After this, I left too. I won't go back to the Telephone road store again and will take my return to the Ross next door to Trader Joes. read more

Desperate for clothes I needed for a trip I was taking in the morning, I loaded up a cart to do a big try on haul so as to not waste time and find what I needed in one go, as it was somewhat close to closing time. There was NO ATTENDANT in the dressing room section. I proceeded to bring my items into the room. I was interrupted by a worker explaining that I was seen with a lot of items and needed to remove all but 8. Understandable, slightly inconvenient, as this wouldn't have happened if there was AN ATTENDANT IN THE FITTING ROOM AREA. I hurried up as this interruption took away a lot of time I needed to try on clothes. I overheard the worker talking to another on their walkie about the suspiciousness of my large amount of items, insinuating I'm a thief? I left the store extremely soured by the experience, without the clothes I needed for my trip the next day. The security guard was very welcoming and kind, 2 stars for that. read more

Going to Ross is like going to a garage sale. Like a really big, retail garage sale. The thing about Ross locations is that you usually either love or hate the location...I am the same way. There are locations that I love frequenting and this location would be on the other end of that spectrum. To main reasons...the organization of the store itself and the selection. Now of course with a store like Ross your selection is going to vary from day to day and week to week...but really, every time I come in this store the selection is always pretty slim. Its an AWESOME place if you have size 15 feet and need a shoe with cleats...lol. But for those of us with regular sized feet its a little harder to find anything. They always have a ton of stuff that is in the extremes of sizes...either small or XXXL but not a lot in just large or extra-large. The store itself has always been a little discombublated whenever I have been there. It seems like the store is understaffed and possibly overworked. The employees have always been cordial..I have never had a problem with any of them. I will still continue to stop by here from time to time...but not on a regular basis. Messy! If you want to shop in a store that looks like it's been hit by a tornado a few times... This place is for you. But more importantly... My Mom just recently had a horrible experience there last week. She's older and currently fighting a disease, she has a handicap card and at times requires a bit of help. She bought a table from this Ross, and you can not take the carts out because of the big poles on them. So she asked the chashier if someone could help her carry this heavy end table to her car. The cashier assured her they would help. She paid- proceeded to the door- and they would not even help her out to her car with it. They had her standing there and she was asking for an employee to help her. This is so incredibly horrible what they did to her. The Ross security guy even just stood there watching her struggle. She asked him if he could help, but he said he couldn't. I talked to the manager about it and she said it's there new policy. They do not help customers carry anything out of the store, due to liability. Really?! Wow. Horrible. You should be ashamed of yourself Ross! Terrible policy " IF" it's even true, and if it is your new policy... Remove a few poles and let the handicap people take a freaking cart out to transport their heavy furniture they JUST BOUGhT FROM YOU. read more

This particular Ross has gone through several managers in the past few years. They had a really good manager for many years and sadly they moved her to a smaller store. It got handed over to a manager who is totally unprofessional. She treats her employees very badly and doesn't care about the customers. The store is a total mess with disgruntled employees and that is a sad reflection of the store manager. read more

Wow. So today I came in and tried on several items at the jewelry counter. Three employees stood near me as I tried on a watch one being the loss prevention manager the other in charge of greeting and of course the young lady that was actually assisting me. All these employees and not a single person paid attention to the fact that someone was taking items out of my cart while I was distracted trying on the watch. When I asked the manager what happened to my stuff she just shrugged with a "I don't know" response. I told her wow thank you so glad it wasn't my wallet. Ross is the store you love because the prices are great, but you loathe because the store is in disarray. Unfortunately this is a pattern of most stores in Ventura, that leads you to take a step back and think , hmmm where's the issue really coming from? I've worked retail in the past, I know the efforts these workers set out to put forth for the public, but there is just so much you can do when a customer continues to throw things on the floor with no concern. This Ross has a great selection of home goods, from kitchen to bathroom, some brick a brack and home decor items. I love buying my flip flops here, they always sell name brand at half the price. My recommendation to shopping here is to get to the store early, so you can beat the crowds and the long lines. read more

Um, no. Walked in here while killing a few minutes. I was momentarily excited to find a big table with toy trucks in the entryway, and an even bigger selection on the shelves along the back wall. But you look at them and realize.... All the packages look like they've been shredded by grubby-pawed wolves (apologies to wolves, which are actually very clean and well-mannered), then hastily taped back together, parts missing. They're discounted, but they really should be sold for about a buck, since this place is kind of a crappy, unfriendly garage sale. There were like 3 toddler items my kiddo's size on the rack, half of which were missing the 2nd component of the "2-piece set". I love garage sales. If I'm buying a used item that's missing half its functionality, why would I pay so much? Boo. read more

Went to this location this afternoon with my boyfriend and an issue with his purchase distracted me, causing me to forget my debit card. I realized this about 30 minutes later and called the store to see if they had it. The gentleman who answered the phone was very polite and let me know it would be there waiting for me. Once there, I tell the front security exactly what happened : I called about 30 minutes ago and spoke to someone about picking up my debit card. I left it about an hour ago and gave him my name and it's description. The security guy barely acknowledged my words and stands there trying to get the attention of an employee, Veronica. She ignores him until he has to follow her around the counter to get her attention. He obviously didn't listen to what I said because he tells her I lost my card. I explain again, what exactly happened. She repeatedly asks me if I left it the other day. No. I explain again. She leaves to go look for it and tells me I don't need to be mean? When she returns with the card, she refuses to give it to me without ID. I understand policy but I explain my ID is in the car and I can spell my first and last name (it's spelled a bit differently than the norm), give her the last four, cvv, etc. She ignores me and says she needs my ID. Fine. When I come back inside to show her she hands it over with a snotty smile plastered on her face, mumbles some rude comment then again graces me with an extremely fake smile and stare. Point: Veronica was passively aggressively rude and ill mannered. To tell a customer they're being "mean" because she isn't LISTENING to them, is extremely unprofessional. Hope she along with her manager reads this because I will be contacting their district manager about this unprofessional child. read more

I think I like the Camarillo location better. This one is a little messy. My cart always gets stuck on a rogue clear hanger thats chillin on the floor. It's a Ross, not much to it. You can find good deals and if you know how to look and search for things, there are some good bargains. I haven't seen some of the nicer brand button up shirts that I've found at the Santa Barbara location in a while but there's still some finds. I found a nice Levi's button up, a good Ralph Lauren tie, and a tie with cufflinks + handkerchief last time I was in and was no more than $35 bucks for them. read more
