I sent my 16 inch MacBook Pro to Rossman Repair Group in Mid December, 2025. My laptop had died, unable to reboot about a week after updating the OS. The Genius Bar at Apple told me it could not be repaired and I would need to replace the Logic Board for $850 or "just buy a new one." A local (Orange County) 3rd party repair shop, after having it for a week, told me it couldn't be repaired. I then went to Reddit for help and suggestions. There were several referrals to Rossmann Repair Group. I contacted them through their online contact form. They immediately messaged with a few more questions and then gave me the necessary details to send my device to them in Austin. I did so - of course, the holidays slowed things down a bit, but by the second week in January, I received word that my lap top had been successfully repaired, losing NONE of my data. Amazing! The cost? A mere $459 which includes shipping back (USPS) to me, signing at delivery. I did have go pay for shipping to get it to them. Totally worth it to me. To insure safe and speedy delivery, signing upon delivery, to them. I paid about $89 for UPS, not including double boxing and bubble wrap. I went in on a Friday midday in June. Was quickly greeted by a worker. I gave him a broken MacBook and he said it'll take 5-10 minutes for a free diagnosis. After about 5 minutes he came back stating the power rail was broken, but I did not proceed with the repair, as the cost of repair was more than the value of the laptop. The quote was half of Apple's quote and came with a guarantee if that I will not pay if they can't successfully fix it. This is miles better than the Apple store as they would make you wait over 15 minutes even though you had an appointment just for the "genius" to say you need to quote an $800 logic board replacement. I had discovered Rossmann Group through their YouTube channel and had been aware of Louis and his team for years. Recently we got a client who encountered a failed hard drive that contained critical accounting related files. Since it was clear the hard drive had a physical fault, I recommended Rossmann Group and they took the anticipated 4 weeks we were quoted to examine the drive, purchase a loaner for parts, and get the drive working using the loaner parts. While I was told the file tree/file system may not have been in tact, 100% of the files were recovered and all in full. This was a life saver, and the quoted price seems lower than others in the industry. I was able to call in every few days and got detailed updates each time, and ended up speaking to the same dispatcher which helped tremendously. In the end everyone was happy with the outcome and they sent the data back on a new USB drive sealed in the packaging, so they must custom pack these after copying the data which seems quite unexpected and professional. The service was amazing! I had a broken fan in my MacBook Pro and needed them to replace it. All I did was walk in, tell them the problem (I had originally gone to the Apple Store where they diagnosed) and then they were able to tell me how long it would take and how much it would cost. You're on YouTube which made me feel like I could trust your business. I was 100% wrong. Just because you see someone on YouTube doesn't mean you can trust them. I'm letting people know my experience. And clearly your response to my bad experiences is not good either. No one is perfect but you didn't change the battery. I cannot say enough good things about Rossman Repair Group. Amazing value for the money, outstanding customer service, quick turnaround. If you have a broken Macbook, this is the place to go. A friend spilled water on their Macbook and it wouldn't power on. A local shop quoted them $3500 (!!!) just to attempt to recover the data. So my friend reached out to me and asked if there was anything I could do. I did some homework and found out that this particular Macbook (as with many Macs) had its SSD soldered to the board. So data recovery would indeed be a challenge. But $3500? Ridiculous. After I determined that I could not perform the repair or recovery myself, I came across Rossman Repair Group. While they are in Texas, their mail-in service is clearly a big part of their business, and the estimate for data recovery was literally 90% less than what the local shop wanted - $350 plus shipping. Their online service for setting up the repair and mailing it in was top notch - they have clearly been doing this for a long time. Communication was outstanding, with a tech reaching out every step of the way and clearly describing what was possible, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. Even their terms of service are written in Plain English and not Inscrutable Legalese! $370 later, I got my friend's data back, in a little over a week from the time I mailed the computer out. Saved me from buying a new early 2015 MBP before its time was up. i didnt get to write this review at the time, as it was around the time RRG moved, and there was some issue about putting in reviews at that time. My glass of water was sitting next to the computer, and I reached for something...and knocked it over right onto the keyboard. YIkes. Anyway, I sent it to RRG and about week later, it was returned fixed. That was almost a year and a half ago, and I am writing this review on it right now. My 2017 WD My Passport external hard drive wasn't functioning and made a beeping noise! We went to a nearby PC and data recovery store that couldn't recover the data and they said it was too difficult and they had issues outsourcing because the task is too difficult!! I was in a panic because ONLY THAT HARD DRIVE HAVE MY UPCOMING SEASON PHOTOSHOOT (aka: I'm screwed at work because we need those photos for our FALL 21 campaigns, ads, social media, website - you cannot imagine!!!) So when I went to pick up my broken hard drive, I quietly (more like whispered to the guy in the front so he won't get in trouble naming a competitor) of who can fix this? I had a MacBook Air that died. Thankfully, I had watched a number of Louis Rossmann videos on YouTube and thought that his group would be the people for the job. I shipped my laptop off to Austin, within a few hours of receiving it, I was assigned a number and kept up to date on the progress. The laptop was repaired in about three business days, packed, and returned to me as good as new! Had I sent it to an "authorized" Apple repair center, they would have been required to replace the logic board, resulting in a complete loss of data! Thankfully, they know how to actually repair computers! I didn't have to lose any data ... it was all intact! That's a great win! The repair cost $425, which was actually less than the $464 at an authorized repair shop, to replace the entire logic board. For sure, if I have other issues, right back to Austin it will go! My only knock, and it's a small one is that the communication is not great when replying to the service ticket to ask questions. I'm still giving five stars though because 4.75 won't work! read more

Amazing repair service. My Macbook Air 2015 had water damage from me being tired and knocking over Poland Springs Sparkling Lemon Water. It was a logic board fix for $250. My repair was finished in 2 days which I was surprised and grateful for as I thought it would take a much longer time to fix. Going in, I think customers need to expect that there is a chance that their product may not be fixed depending on how severe damage is. I think what really made me have a wow feeling was how organized the process was. Basically, you go in, they inspect your computer internal and then quote you a price only if they are able to fix it. I have a 8+ year old MacBook Air, it completely shut off on me and I was devastated since I have a ton of important business files that weren't backed up. I contacted Apple Tech through chat and we troubleshooted with negative results. The Tech set up an appointment with their Apple Store Genius Bar. I went over to the appointment and the individual at the Genius Bar couldn't help me and basically did everything the previous tech over chat had me do. The Genius Bar tech told me there was nothing that could really be done since its considered a "vintage" device. I sent over a badly damaged & abused MacBook from over a decade ago, it had USB port issues, missing battery (I had to take it out because it was swollen), broken keyboard ... $350 later, I got it back in just a few days and wow they did a really good job!! Seems fully functional, and on top of that they also fixed the broken case, fixed the display hinge, replaced the missing screws in the bottom, pretty much everything. "It's Alive!!!!" - Victor, Dr. Frankenstein I've been youtube-binging since the start of pandemic last year and have subscribed to Mr. Rossman's channel. I myself used to be a full time geek (building PC, tinkering electronics/mechanical) but now I would say I lay-low but still appreciate and amazed on how people can fix/repair damaged stuffs or build. My hard working MacBook Pro Early 2015 finally stopped running one day in May or May Day fits well. At first I thought it was a battery problem for I know its about time to replace it with a new one and so I ordered in iFixit and the replacement process of this particular model is harder than the 2012 one. After installing it the macbook still shows a black screen... and therefore I need the help of Louis. So I send an email, ask for a qoute and they said most likely its a logic board issue which is pretty common with Apple MBP. At first I didnt know what a logic board is and found out its the 'mother board' of the laptop. Yeah, I am a bit rusty now on those tech terms. I asked them if the replacement/used logic board will have the same gpu, ram, etc as the one I have and they said yes. And then I send it to them and upon receipt they notified me that it will take 10 days for completion of repair. A tech get in touch with me and he also added that the LCD ribbon connector need to be replaced too. It only took 4 days though which I really appreciate and when I got it I was so happy that its alive once again. Since the logic board was replaced the Serial number of my MBP is now different from the original. All the existing files and OS is intact and so far, now is October 2021, have found no issues or concerns. My MBP is aging and looking forward for a replacement in the coming years. I took my 2013 MacBook Pro to the service department at my local (Northern California) big electronics retailer, where the kind "Geek" said that repairing an intermittent black screen of death is outside of their scope, and then referred me to Rossmann Repair Group. I sent an inquiry about mail-in service through Yelp messaging last night, and received a helpful reply this morning. I ultimately decided that the probable (very reasonable!) cost of repair plus shipping exceeded the cost of a refurbished same-year-and-model replacement, and thus it is time for me to get a shiny new MacBook Pro. If it had made sense for me financially, and my Mac wasn't likely to need continuing geriatric care, I would absolutely have mailed it to Rossmann Repair Group. So while I have no personal experience with the quality of their repair work--which I fully expect is stellar--I am writing this review because quality CUSTOMER service is at least as important, and not easy to find. read more

Since Louis is moving his business to Texas, I wanted to leave a parting review as well as help dilute out the idiot 1-star reviews on here. I had an old Macbook Air that needed a new battery. Originally I had reached out to a local repair shop but they never returned my e-mail and voicemail. Oh well, their loss. So then I remembered Louis from his Youtube channel, and contacted his business with a description of my problem. I got a fairly prompt response via e-mail, and went ahead and shipped my laptop to NYC about a month later when I had some time. About 4 days later, they confirmed receipt of the laptop and gave me an estimate 4 days after that. After confirming approval to do the work, it took 6 days for them to finish the ticket. All of this was done via their ticketing website which is great since I have some social anxiety. Once I paid the invoice via their website, they shipped back the laptop and I got it within a week. Overall, it took about 3 weeks from when I shipped the device, to when I finally got it back. I've had the laptop for about 5 months so far, and the battery is still going strong. There was a initial small hiccup with the BMS where it would not show the battery percentage increasing while plugged in, but that only lasted a couple weeks. It works fine now. I have to say, this is a very professional operation. I was explained everything along every step of the way, and was charged a very fair price in my opinion. Their ticketing system makes communication seamless and everyone I communicated with was polite. I'd say that as long as you're not a 'Karen' and demand anything ridiculous, you will get good customer service at a fair price here. read more

Received my dead 2010 Macbook Pro restored with all of the data ! Also swapped out the old HDD for a new SDD

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that likely got malware resulting in a compromised credit card. I followed the apple help guides online on how to erase the HD and re-install the OS but in the process the HD disappeared from the disk utility list and I was unable to reinstall the OS nor restore from a backup. I called one other place and left a message and they never returned the call. I considered going to the Apple Store but worried it would be an overpriced and possibly unwarranted recommendation to replace something. I have a colleague that has watched all the Rossman YouTube content and often praises their content and has educated me on the whole "right to repair" fight. Since I work in Austin I thought I'd give Rossmann a try. I called today. And they answered right away! I took it in, explained my issue. A few moments later... it's in my hands and the OS has been reinstalled. And the price...? They didn't charge me anything. I figured it might be a simple fix bc nothing physical happened to it, I just messed something up in trying to reset it. And didn't think it would cost much. But $0?! After getting a ridiculous repair quote from the Apple store I let my laptop sit dormant in my closet for a long time as it awaited an unknown fate. The rear camera on my iPhone 8 started having stabilization issues, wobbling around uncontrollably even if the camera was steady, so I brought it in to get the camera replaced. They gave me a quote, had me sign a contract, and took it in for repair with an estimated wait time of 30-45 minutes. With no phone and nothing else to do, I went over to B&H to burn some time, and came back to a repaired phone. The process was super easy and painless. They also do a good job replacing the waterproofing seals after opening your phone. (When I asked, they said that they would attempt to restore the water resistance ability, but it wouldn't be as good as the original.) Not long after the repair I accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet but it wasn't damaged, so it looks like whatever they put in there did the trick. The only complaint I have is that their phone agents don't seem to know their own prices. The first time I called, I was quoted $120 and told I might need to come in twice because they don't have the part available, and to call back when their iPhone expert was in. When I called back, I was quoted $80 and told that they do in fact have the part and I could get it fixed on the spot. When I finally arrived at the store, I was quoted $100, which I guess is right in the middle of the previous two quotes I got, but still weird that it would jump around so much. read more

I emailed the office from my home in Seattle asking about a potential purchase that I wanted to have shipped to their location to have them upgrade the piece of technology and he replied within a day or two I was quite impressed. Caveat if you want to repairman who has no opinions and will leave you guessing as far as what he recommends don't go here. Trust the reviews. This place has great customer service, honest pricing and amazing turnaround time. Water spilled on my laptop unbeknownst to me and sat for days. It wouldn't turn on nor charge. I have a 2016 15" MacBook Pro with touch bar, which crashed randomly and wouldn't restart. I tried a bunch of things over next couple of days but no dice. Figured it was dead. Took it to Apple Store (W 14th St). Their Genius took it apart in a back room and told me the logic board is dead and quoted $678 to fix it, with loss of all data. I went to Rossmann nearby to ask about data recovery (having researched various options and finding lots of recommendations for this place). The guy at the front desk took it apart in front of me and found the issue in 10 seconds. A small screw had become dislodged and was wedged between two components on the board. Worked fine after removing that. No cost (I gave the guy a tip). Amazing. Added bonus: my faith in humanity is renewed. Ture Life Savers. TLDR; Don't waste your time with other repair services. Do yourself a favor and just take your machine to Rossmann Repair. You won't regret it. *Full Disclosure* - My repair was completed at the NY store, right before the cut-off for NY repairs (Dec 22). So this review will be for my experience at the old shop. However, Louis recently posted a Youtube video stating that most of the NY team has moved to Texas with him so, rest assured - you will get the same quality service. I've been following Louis and Rossmann Repair on Youtube for probably 3+ years so when my 27" iMac crashed, I knew exactly where to take it. I called Apple support first, just to check to see if they could do anything for me - but as expected - they were useless, and told me it would be better to buy a new machine since my computer was purchased in 2015 and was out of the supported repair window (of course they would). They recommended a few 3rd Party "Apple-Endorsed" repair shops in NYC that MIGHT be able to help me, but since the issue sounded complicated - they gave me a pretty bleak prediction. I preceded to call around to the 3 shops Apple recommended just to be thorough; 1 wouldn't take my machine, another one required a $150 down payment just to drop my machine off, and the other was closed. The one shop that did say they would take my machine was very short over the phone and provided ZERO assurance that they would be to fix the problems after explaining the issues - also note, I am fairly computer/tech literate and explained the issues very thoroughly - and yet, they still provided no indication of being able to help beyond: "Yeah well, bring it in and we'll let you know." That's when I knew: Louis - with his outlook for consumers - and Rossmann repair, was the only route to take. I called Rossmann the second I got off the phone with the other quack repair shops and within 5 Minutes of talking, they were concise, confident, and thorough with the steps and timeline required to fix my machine and retrieve my data; It was a no-brainer. Truly a night-and-day experience. I brought my iMac the next day. One week after I brought my machine, they followed up with a call confirming the issue (per the diagnosis) and asked me how I wanted to proceed - outlining costs, time frames, and our next check-in. A week later they told me they successfully retrieved my data (from the failing HD in my machine) and asked if I wanted to resume with the repair to regain full functionality of my machine or if the data retrieval was enough - BEFORE ANY CHARGES OR ADDITIONAL PROCEDURES; of course, I consented. One week following that, my machine was fully fixed, and an external hard drive containing 15 years worth of data, memories, and work was waiting for me to pick up. And here I am, typing this review on it now - it works flawlessly. No bullshit, no hassle, and EXTREMELY reasonably priced for the amount of work and time spent on my machine. Hopefully, I never have to send another machine to Rossmann repair but, if I need to, you'll be my go-to 100% of the time. I took my 6+ year laptop in for a cleaning and was advised I should replace the battery even before the rep opened up my laptop. As he had predicted, the battery had expanded and was pressing up against the case and everything inside. I felt comfortable and did not feel like I was being upsold. After years of watching Louis' YouTube vids I had to contact them for a damaged USB drive. I know they work on Apple products 99% of the time. This thumb drive had important documents that could not be reproduced, so I sent it in and they quoted me three times under what My big city wanted. Not to negate the time and work that goes into working on something so small. They are absolute professionals and I will be sending more damaged items in the future.
