A huge part of that is thanks to Kelly, the owner. She is incredibly patient, calm, and intuitive as a coach. She meets you exactly where you are, never rushes the process, and somehow knows exactly how to help you push past fear without feeling overwhelmed. The environment is supportive, encouraging, and completely judgment-free--something that makes all the difference when you're learning as an adult. If you've ever been hesitant or afraid of the water, I can honestly say this place can help you overcome it. Exceptional facility, outstanding coaches. Grateful doesn't even begin to cover it. Highly recommend.

My kids did learn some basics but after registering them in the British Swim School, their skills have improved at such a fast pace. What they attempted to learn in 8-10 sessions from other places, they picked up in 4 sessions at British Swim School. The attention to detail is impeccable with each instructor attending to a maximum of 4 students. The instructor's are very involved and give detailed feedback to each student. Neeru (who runs the show) does an amazing job running the program efficiently and ensuring that she addresses any questions/concerns. I highly recommend this swim school...

Unfortunately, our experience with British Swim School became one of the most frustrating customer service experiences we've had. After our son's very first class, we decided the program wasn't the right fit. We communicated that we would not be continuing and reasonably believed that our enrollment had ended. Instead, classes continued to be scheduled, our account continued to be billed, and no one ever responded to explain that a separate formal cancellation process was required. What makes this especially frustrating is that the school later showed us records of multiple phone calls they made after noticing our son wasn't attending. If they knew he was repeatedly missing classes, why wasn't that the moment someone simply said, "If you're discontinuing lessons, here's how to officially cancel"? Instead, they continued reserving his spot and charging our account. The amount of time and effort it took to resolve this was unbelievable. We spent weeks going back and forth through emails and phone calls, repeatedly explaining the same situation, only to receive lengthy responses quoting policy after policy rather than acknowledging the obvious communication breakdown. Eventually, after multiple discussions, they agreed to refund one month as a "courtesy" (the refunded month was August--even though we were still only in the middle of July when all of this was happening), yet they still refused to refund July despite the fact that our son never attended a single class that month. The experience left us feeling like customer service took a back seat to enforcing policy. Rather than asking, "How can we make this right?" every interaction felt focused on finding another reason to justify why they could continue charging us. We were also disappointed with the facility itself. After just one class, we knew it wasn't somewhere we wanted our son to continue. The pool did not feel as clean as we expected for a children's swim program, and the chlorine was so overwhelming that my husband said he could still smell and feel it on his skin for days afterward. My advice to any family considering this program: read every line of the contract, ask detailed questions about the cancellation process, and don't assume that telling staff you're not continuing is enough. Insist on written confirmation that your enrollment has been canceled. Otherwise, you may find yourself spending weeks disputing charges for classes your child never attended. There are plenty of swim schools that teach children how to swim. The quality of customer service is what separates them. Unfortunately, based on our experience, this is not one I would recommend.

My niece came for VC to San Jose and her and my daughter, we're going to workout together with my mom. Who is being a member for over 11 years as well as me. Today we paid the $25 for my nice to enter to workout. Lauren saw my daughter thinking she didn't have a membership and shows up to the family room telling my niece she needed to leave the facility and she cannot enter if either of her parents were not there. My mom was there with them. But because she is not her mom, she could not enter the facility. It is ridiculous. I asked to show me, where in their policy says, if mom or dad needs to be present in the facility?? so if is my niece I can invite her to the facility after paying??? Plus they did not allow her to sit on the lobby, she told her she had to leave, she should of had talked to my mom since she is the adult and not the girls. She is not professional at all. My niece ended up scared. I feel discriminated because they basically kick my niece off of the gym. I really need to speak to corporate about it. Also my niece was going to get her backpack from the family room and she didn't even want to allow her to go back for it. They did not show me in writing, where it says if you bring kids to this facilities, they need to be only the member. I asked Laureen to show me where in the policy says that but she didn't. Even her manager did not show me where it says that??

How is she supposed to build rapport and how is the new teacher going to know her level to continue from last class. When I spoke with the manager, they said the teacher is subject to change without notice. My daughter is a 5 year old and for her teacher to change every week, she's hasn't been progressing at all for the last 7 weeks. I've been asking them why her instructor is new every time and they won't give me a solid answer. At 5th week, they told me her teacher would be set for the coming weeks but yesterday the instructor changed again. It's such a waste of time and money. Hi- Brooke, I wasn't notified if the teacher left after the first session until last week. (6th week). Every time I asked the new teacher what's happening, they always said they don't know instead of notifying me what's really happening. If they notified me what's going to happen, I wouldn't be this frustrated. And I would have just receive the refund to stop class or change to a different date and time.

He loves going every week and playing in the water and he's definitely gotten a lot more comfortable being in the pool. We've now been able to take him to our local cabana pool as well as a hotel pool and he's been great. I couldn't recommend the beginner swim class enough to get your kids comfortable with being in a pool. I like this gym, it's a bit more like a club than purely a gym, but I don't really use the club…read morefacilities so the gym part is what I'm reviewing here. No tennis, no pool, no snack bar. Anyway, there are three key things for me when it comes to a gym. First is cleanliness, second is shower facilities, third is equipment. AVAC is a relatively small gym and I tend to go at off hours. This means not many people, so thankfully it's very clean inside. If you think about a 24 Hour Fitness or similar, they have hundreds of people constantly working out, there's no way to uphold hygiene standards. AVAC, despite being small, has frequent cleanings happening, which is nice. The showers at AVAC are... okay. On the plus side, they provide towels, which is a dealbreaker for me. Who wants to bring their own towel to a gym? So that's a big convenience factor. The towels have been bleached and washed to the point they are marginally more absorbent than copy paper and quite rough, but I guess a towel is a towel. The showers themselves are workable but not ideal. Communal in nature, which I personally find awkward, but going at off hours at least allows me to have them to myself or only 1-2 others at most. If it was packed I'd probably wait, it's just too weird. The shampoo and body wash are not very high quality, kind of reminds me of what you'd get at a cheap motel. But again, at least it's there. I also don't want to cart my own soap around. For the gym's size, the equipment variety and quantity is good. I've never not been able to get a treadmill, I've always been able to get the free weights I want, and there are usually benches available. The only thing in short supplies are squat racks, of which there are two, and space for deadlifts, which is basically also two. I would say the gym's clientele leans towards... not people doing those types of exercise. So I haven't typically had to wait, but again I also don't go at peak hours. There are also tons of machines, if you're the type of person who thinks isolation exercises are good. Better than nothing I suppose, but that's just me. AVAC offers a lot of free classes, of which I've taken none. They also have a snack bar, which I've never used. There's also a pool (not the swim school pool which is like 2.5' high) and a kiddie pool outside, neither of which I've been in. And there are tennis courts and pickleball and some outdoor fitness area, which, you guessed it, I have never been to. I wouldn't say AVAC is a destination gym the way Bay Clubs are, but if you're closeby it's probably the best one around. They also have plenty of parking in back in two lots.

AVAC's staff is always service with a smile. The young woman at the front desk with short hair and…read morea nose ring is always so friendly and welcoming and always remembers my name.
