My 4.5 year old daughter just finished her third, final session at Farnsworth yesterday. We had…read moresuch a great experience with Farnsworth from beginning sign-up to Izzy getting her tadpole report card and lollipop. ;) Coming into The swim school early June, Izzy was very scared of the water and would not put her face in at all. She cried the first lesson and wanted to get out of the pool. Jaynie and the teachers are very patient with the kids , but also know how to keep them in the water through the crying to get them to a more comfortable place. I love their approach and how they focused on technique first (big arms, blowing bubbles, strong kicks), and progressed to teaching a little more each day. Leena was Izzy's instructor for 2 of the sessions and I was blown away by what she could do by the end! She was able to go under, touch the bottom of the pool, hold her breath for a few seconds at a time, jump in and go under, and float on her back for a few seconds. Izzy gained a lot of confidence in her swimming this summer. She told me each day she was excited to go in, get rings and put her head under. Most all of this is to Leena's credit. She is so positive and engaging, and is really great at building trust and swim technique. She may not know how to swim alone yet, but by next summer I'm sure she will be able to! ;) Thank you Farnham!

I can't say enough good things about this swim school. As an adult who struggled with real panic…read moreand fear in the water, I never thought I'd feel comfortable--let alone confident--swimming. But this experience completely changed that. A huge part of that is thanks to Kelly, the owner. She is incredibly patient, calm, and intuitive as a coach. She meets you exactly where you are, never rushes the process, and somehow knows exactly how to help you push past fear without feeling overwhelmed. The environment is supportive, encouraging, and completely judgment-free--something that makes all the difference when you're learning as an adult. If you've ever been hesitant or afraid of the water, I can honestly say this place can help you overcome it. Exceptional facility, outstanding coaches. Grateful doesn't even begin to cover it. Highly recommend.

Lauren Correia has a very bad attitude and the worst customer service ever. She does not have any…read moremanners. She did NOT allow my niece 14 year old, enter the facility. My niece came for VC to San Jose and her and my daughter, we're going to workout together with my mom. Who is being a member for over 11 years as well as me. Today we paid the $25 for my nice to enter to workout. Lauren saw my daughter thinking she didn't have a membership and shows up to the family room telling my niece she needed to leave the facility and she cannot enter if either of her parents were not there. My mom was there with them. But because she is not her mom, she could not enter the facility. It is ridiculous. I asked to show me, where in their policy says, if mom or dad needs to be present in the facility?? so if is my niece I can invite her to the facility after paying??? Plus they did not allow her to sit on the lobby, she told her she had to leave, she should of had talked to my mom since she is the adult and not the girls. She is not professional at all. My niece ended up scared. I feel discriminated because they basically kick my niece off of the gym. I really need to speak to corporate about it. Also my niece was going to get her backpack from the family room and she didn't even want to allow her to go back for it. They did not show me in writing, where it says if you bring kids to this facilities, they need to be only the member. I asked Laureen to show me where in the policy says that but she didn't. Even her manager did not show me where it says that??

This review is for Silver Creek Swim school…read more My daughter started Spring session swim class and she has been assigned to new teacher every week. How is she supposed to build rapport and how is the new teacher going to know her level to continue from last class. When I spoke with the manager, they said the teacher is subject to change without notice. My daughter is a 5 year old and for her teacher to change every week, she's hasn't been progressing at all for the last 7 weeks. I've been asking them why her instructor is new every time and they won't give me a solid answer. At 5th week, they told me her teacher would be set for the coming weeks but yesterday the instructor changed again. It's such a waste of time and money. Hi- Brooke, I wasn't notified if the teacher left after the first session until last week. (6th week). Every time I asked the new teacher what's happening, they always said they don't know instead of notifying me what's really happening. If they notified me what's going to happen, I wouldn't be this frustrated. And I would have just receive the refund to stop class or change to a different date and time.

I like this gym, it's a bit more like a club than purely a gym, but I don't really use the club…read morefacilities so the gym part is what I'm reviewing here. No tennis, no pool, no snack bar. Anyway, there are three key things for me when it comes to a gym. First is cleanliness, second is shower facilities, third is equipment. AVAC is a relatively small gym and I tend to go at off hours. This means not many people, so thankfully it's very clean inside. If you think about a 24 Hour Fitness or similar, they have hundreds of people constantly working out, there's no way to uphold hygiene standards. AVAC, despite being small, has frequent cleanings happening, which is nice. The showers at AVAC are... okay. On the plus side, they provide towels, which is a dealbreaker for me. Who wants to bring their own towel to a gym? So that's a big convenience factor. The towels have been bleached and washed to the point they are marginally more absorbent than copy paper and quite rough, but I guess a towel is a towel. The showers themselves are workable but not ideal. Communal in nature, which I personally find awkward, but going at off hours at least allows me to have them to myself or only 1-2 others at most. If it was packed I'd probably wait, it's just too weird. The shampoo and body wash are not very high quality, kind of reminds me of what you'd get at a cheap motel. But again, at least it's there. I also don't want to cart my own soap around. For the gym's size, the equipment variety and quantity is good. I've never not been able to get a treadmill, I've always been able to get the free weights I want, and there are usually benches available. The only thing in short supplies are squat racks, of which there are two, and space for deadlifts, which is basically also two. I would say the gym's clientele leans towards... not people doing those types of exercise. So I haven't typically had to wait, but again I also don't go at peak hours. There are also tons of machines, if you're the type of person who thinks isolation exercises are good. Better than nothing I suppose, but that's just me. AVAC offers a lot of free classes, of which I've taken none. They also have a snack bar, which I've never used. There's also a pool (not the swim school pool which is like 2.5' high) and a kiddie pool outside, neither of which I've been in. And there are tennis courts and pickleball and some outdoor fitness area, which, you guessed it, I have never been to. I wouldn't say AVAC is a destination gym the way Bay Clubs are, but if you're closeby it's probably the best one around. They also have plenty of parking in back in two lots.
