This restaurant was a clean, bright space with a good selection of Caribbean drinks and snacks. Maybe 5 or 6 eat-in tables as you enter. The woman who took my order was great. Ordered 4 deconstructed rotis: 2 chicken and potato, a goat and a jerk chicken. 3 with paratha root and 1 with buss up shut. All were super tasty-deep and (not too) spicy flavor, really good sized portions (it gave me 3 meals) and packed nicely. substitutes for the curried potatoes that typically go along with the meal are available. I would personally get the buss up shut variety of roti or opt for the wrapped version in the future the chickpea filling was quite messy due to my error of ripping it. A very satisfying meal nonetheless. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other offerings. read more

Was back a third time and on this visit ordered the snapper plate. Holy cow, this was Awesome!!! Lovely plating presentation, wonderfully prepared and so incredibly tasty. At first I was humm, how to approach a whole fish, where to start and the bones... don't even worry. I plastic fork and knife I just gently started along the back of the fish behind the head and the meat fell off the skeleton, the meat was juicy and so tasty. Just be mindful it's a fish and there are bones-- easy to see and pull out. My dish sides included rice and beans, cooked cabbage and fried plantains. Spectacular dinner. read more

I'm conflicted with my review because I've been looking for a good jerk spot in South Jersey and this is the best one I've come across. The cabbage and rice are always good but I feel like the jerk chicken is baked (vs grilled) which is what I'm used to. It's good but again I'm in search of that jerk chicken flavor that I've had in Kingston Jamaica and I've just not found that here. First time trying Trinidadian food!! The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating and very clean. We stopped here between our drive from Philly to Asbury Park. My friend introduced us to this place and the menu was a bit overwhelming at first because many items looked enticing. It was difficult to pick what I wanted to settle on ordering. There were plenty of items that I've never tried before. We ended up with: 1. Curry chicken with Dhalpuri 2. Shrimp Doubles 3. Phaloree 4. Side of Callalo 5. Cassava Pone I didn't realize that Trinidadian cuisine is heavily influenced by Indian cuisine! (Which I'm also not familiar with). The curry chicken was so tender and tasted more like a stew than a creamy curry which I really enjoyed. I wasn't a big fan of the doubles since they didn't put that many shrimp in there (2-4 small shrimps total). I was definitely overloaded with carbs after this meal. My favorite item was the phaloree. They were these seasoned dough fried to perfection and you dip them in this sauce - guilty but addicting! I also love cassava and the cassava pone is delicious. The texture is hard to describe but it's like ... a grainy dense pound cake. Can't wait to stop by again and try other items on their extensive menu! It felt like home. And I'm not even from Trinidad. But, boy oh boy, you want to be when you taste the goodness of the food that is prepared and served with love at Roti Plus! Upon entrance, it stands out that the place is very open and clean, inviting feeling for me. Visited on a Sunday, late afternoon, and it was the right amount of people where you didn't feel like you had to wait forever to eat or that no one wanted to be up in here lol. The service was really friendly and fast. As a family, we ordered curry goat with sides of callaloo, macaroni pie, rice and peas, with cabbage... a curry goat roti with pumpkin added, a shrimp doubles and a chicken doubles.. to wash it down with mauby. Man oh man.. started off with the doubles and it was magnificently tasty and filling. That could be a meal in and of itself.. the bara was perfect.. just the right amount of sweet and chew to offset the savoriness off the protein, chickpeas, and sauce. I could eat one daily. The curry goat was flavorful and juicy.. macaroni pie was good. Callaloo... I could eat a whole bowl by myself. It was just all the right amount of tastiness. My husband said that the mauby was just perfect. I've made it myself at home and I like that I'll have this as a model from now on. My first review was on the conservative side. I wasn't familiar with this specific cuisine but loved it from the start. I think I contemplated updating this a few times but amnesia occurred. After my recent visit I knew it was high time to do just that. I think my fav entree is the curry chicken, bone in or bone off for slightly more. The chicken is never over cooked and literally soaked in the spices. I kind of prefer the white rice over the rice and beans, it's buttery and not like Asian rice. I just tried the chicken curry aloo pie. This was a large fry bread with chicken and potatoes and just enough curry sauce. Anything wrapped in this would be great, but that curry combo is bomb. I also really like the currant rolls, and they've gotten to be a very nice size. I regret that I have yet to try the bake and shark or the duck, I seem to keep missing Daffy. Key to this 5 star review is the friendly and patient customer service. Regardless of who waits on you. There is ample space to eat in but it seems to get more takeout. To me this might be my favorite casual takeout place in Hamilton. The portions are huge and prices are reasonable. But the food itself is what I'll come back for. read more

The bake and shark here is amazing. I don't usually eat shark but it really blew me away. Perfect texture (crunchy, saucy, crisp), awesome flavors (sweet, savory, spicy, fried lol), huge portion (look at my photos!!!). If I had the time I'd be in the street telling any passerby to try it on the weekends. My SO got the food to-go for me; they make everything fresh and packed it in an aluminum container (so my food did not get soggy). Cooked and assembled it right after he ordered, which took a while but since you can see them actually making it, it makes sense. Clean and new inside. Bathroom was decent. We also got aloo pies and doubles but they were nothing compared to the fried bake n shark. Both barra and channa were not flavorful, but the amount of toppings was awesome. Aloo pie was a tad too greasy and also was lacking something... Fantastic roti shop at a very convenient location right on South Olden Ave. Have had this spot on my radar for some time, but finally managed to get over there today. I was beyond impressed. I called ahead and ordered a chef's special: Macaroni Pie, Callaloo, Rice & Stew Chicken, but asked to substitute a paratha for the rice. I also ordered an additional vegetable (regular) doubles, because no Trini meal is complete without some doubles! I was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes, so off I went. When I arrived, I was greeted by a large, inviting and spotless space. My order was prepared and wrapped specially due to the fact that I didn't have rice to sop up some of the stew's and callaloo's juices, and the chef didn't want want macaroni pie to get soggy. Well done. When I got home and unwrapped my bounty, everything was absolutely perfect. The doubles were soft and hot with a perfect combination of sweetness from the chutneys and spiciness from the requested hot sauce. The stew chicken was fall off the bone tender and perfectly seasoned while the callaloo provided a smooth and tasty accompaniment. Finally, the macaroni pie was dense and flavorful; it had all of the familiarity of homemade mac n'cheese yet with a unique twist. My only disappointment was that they were out of Casava Pone today. Oh well, just gives me an excuse to head back again sooner rather than later. Five stars all day. read more

They have the authentic Trinidadian food. It's always made fresh and served with a smile. Their doubles are the best and can be served with various toppings. We started off with doubles everything in them with slight pepper, which were yummy. I ordered phlouri which did not disappoint. For my main dish I had the bake and shark!
