Their prices are incredibly high. Especially if you call after quote business hours. I've called to get a quote before for service, and they have an answering service. Then I have to wait for an actual tech to call me back, forcing me to give them my phone number. After I've given them my number and finally gotten my quote, I've graciously stated that I would call back in the morning during normal business hours for service (the don't call me, I'll call you out) and instead, they've called me. Multiple times. They called me 7 times that following day, leaving voicemails that just got nastier and more hostile as they went. The person (I presume a dispatcher) leaving the messages should have used a small amount of common sense (clearly not too common in this company) and came to the conclusion that when someone doesn't answer, they clearly don't want your services. Nope, she just continued to stalker call me through the day, leaving cranky messages every single time. Even after I blocked her number, forcing it to automatically go to voicemail every time. Take the hint yet? Nope, she just called me from a different number! I finally had to turn my phone off for a couple of hours until normal business hours were over to keep her from calling me. I already had service on the way from a much cheaper and more reliable company, and she kept calling while they were there and after I had gone to sleep. It was not only annoying, but disruptive to my day. This is not a company that I would ever call again, even for a quote. I can't imagine that they would be that desperate for business that they need to stalker call someone repeatedly through the day just to get some business. If that is the case, it's pathetic and looks bad for the business because they just look desperate. read more

They charge $210 per hour for handdigging. The other plumbers I contacted were no more than $150 per hour. Worker charged for 3 hrs despite only 2 hrs of actual digging. The extra hour was him spending time getting a part he didn't have. I gave at least 2 stars because he was punctual and fixed the issue. We have used this business several times in the past as one of our plumbing vendors (we are a commercial business as well). On this occasion I made an appointment with them for a water heater installation. On the day of the appointment I called to ask when they would be here. They said there had been an error as their scheduler had accidentally made the appointment with one of their plumbers who was on vacation. As a result, they could not meet the appointment and were not able to send a substitute to come out that day. As I said, we are a business and we needed hot water for 6 bathrooms as well as a kitchen and some additional sinks. I managed to call another company and get the installation done. Poor, poor organization was shown and their inability to move things around to make things right compounded that error. read more

$$SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!! I am beyond glad we decided to go elsewhere for our plumbing issue. The estimate Roto-rooter gave us (with a military discount) was $400-700 depending on how long the job was. When the plumber arrived he took a look at the problem said it was a huge project and would need to call another plumber to get into the crawl space (the plumber who arrived was extremely overweight and no way he was fitting in the crawl space, not trying to fat shame anyone just pointing out the facts). So, we told him we were going to hold off, he left furious as can be. We had Peterson plumbing fix the problem, it took them 30 minutes (they did not need to go into the crawl space) and oh it was only $129.00. Not sure if roto-rooter was attempting to take advantage of my partner and I because of our semi-young age or if their prices are just insane. Whatever you do, get multiple estimates. I STRONGLY do not recommend this company. read more

Just no. Don't ever use these folks. I only did because they could do a weekend call. After two tries (and me specifically asking for Someone experienced) they sent over a tek who literally said he fixed my leak to my washer which he did not. They said they guaranteed the work but then they didn't. They fired the guy who had done the work so they must have known his work was subpar. I paid $350 for them to replace a shower cartridge and fix my washer. He fixed the shower but allhe did for the washer was replace supply lines and left a broken pipe. Don't let them out of the house without checking their work. But just don't ever use them is a better idea. I'm pissed and they say they are going to refund $150. We'll see. read more

The most awesome customer service ever. My sewer was backing up into my basement. Since it was a Saturday, the only place I found open was Roto-Rooter. So I called them and they came out within a couple of hours. They unblocked my sewer and after running a camera through determined it was so broken it needed to be replaced from the house to the street. They came back on Monday and started the repair. They ran into some challenges but within a week I had a new sewer line. Even though the project set me back many thousands, I felt very good about the whole ordeal because Camron and the rest of the crew were professional, caring, nice and trustworthy. Camron was always updating me on the progress of the job and calling me to let me know they were on their way or if they were going to be delayed. I had never experienced such outstanding customer service anywhere, especially from a home service company. A few months later, I discovered water seeping up in my front yard. (My house is 90 years old so not unexpected that things are falling apart.) I tried to turn off the main but the meter box was filled with water. I called EWEB and they pumped out the box and discovered that the user turnoff was broken so they turned the water off at their connection and said I'd have to call them to turn it back on. I knew that I had to repair the turnoff before the leak could be fixed. At a complete loss as to what to do, I called Camron to see if he could give me a suggestion. He told me he'd take care of it. He called the office and within an hour and a half Camron was at my house with the plumber Joe. Joe installed a new user turnoff, checked the smart meter and saw that it was running a lot. (EWEB later confirmed that the big leaking had started at 3 AM that morning.) He also determined that it was leaking in several places and the whole line from the meter to the house needed to be replaced. It was Friday afternoon and I had no water, but at least I wasn't leaking for the time being. Camron and Joe and the rest of their crew came back first thing Monday morning and by the end of the day I had a new water main and my yard was put back together. I wrote them another check and again felt relieved that things had been fixed quickly and with the same care. I called Joe to come back to adjust the water pressure and when he came he handed me a check for $1000! He explained that since I'd had two large projects in such a short time, they took a look at their costs and determined they could refund some of my money. Have you ever heard of a company doing something like that? I was so touched I was brought to tears. I cannot stress more to everyone that if you ever need any kind of sewer or plumbing work done, large or small in the Eugene area, call Roto-Rooter. They are locally owned, honest, really care about their customers and love their work. They also have a lot of equipment to make the job easier for them and less impactful on my property. (For instance, they have a truck that sucks the dirt out so they didn't have to bring in a backhoe or hand dig a trench.) As I've told Camron many times, he is my hero. I thank him and Joe and the rest of the crew for making a couple of painful home repairs renew my faith in humanity. read more

I had Shaun come to fix a leak from my washing machine. He fixed the valve but failed to check if it was still leaking before he left. $300 later (twice as much as I've paid for any plumber) my washing machine was still leaking. On top of that, when I called to have him call back the lady told me on the phone I'd have to wait a week. I also had a bit of water damage that I thought they'd be able to fix since this place claims to be plumbing and water damage fixing. They quoted me over $4000 for a 4' x 4' wet spot. I had Servpro come and look at this spot and they were able to clean it up for less than $1000. On top of this, Roto Rooter said their method of getting water out of the drywall was to drill holes. Servpro was much more educated and let me know that drilling holes is an old fashioned way of removing water from walls and it doesn't fix the issue. Servpro is much more educated and reliable. They were able to completely solve my issue in a few days for 1/4 of the price. Make sure you get a second opinion before choosing this place read more

We paid for a sewer scope to be performed and were told we would receive a call back the same day with results. The tech would not start the service until we paid upfront, which we did. After eight days and several calls later, we are now being told the tech has to go back out to the house (not for another five days) because they need to look at it again due to it being an old house. We ordered this service so we could close on our house. This seems to be a blatant attempt to sell more services by withholding information. read more

Robert and the whole Roto-Rooter crew were a saving grace during our Winter 2017 emergency. While the city of Bend was in crisis mode dealing with snow, freezing pipes, ice dams and other water related emergencies, Roto-Rooter was able to come the day I called with our water problem. Immediately they helped my tenants move their bedroom furniture so they could begin to mitigate the problem. Overall we had 2 separate areas that incurred water damage and both were restored to better than they were prior to the damage. Robert was easy to communicate with and provided daily updates on their progress with texts, pictures and emails. The billing was detailed and Robert was able to answer the many questions I had with a clear explanation. My toilet stopped working at 8:00 pm on a work night while my 6 year old grandson was spending the night. I called Roto Rooter and Jose came right over. He spent more than two hours trying to fix the problem including a lot of time outside in the pouring rain. He wasn't able to fix the problem that night (it required digging up the back yard), and explained everything to me very clearly. He came back the next day while I was work. He was able to get everything back in working order, and within the estimate he had given me. He also told me to contact the CIty about problems with its sewer line where it met mine. Very very expensive service! I had a leak in my shower and needed a rectangle cut open in my ceiling not large and some fans for about a week. The service person maybe spent in total 3 -4 hours in that week I was charged 3800$ complete rip off! When he came to our house this morning, in the sleet and snow and 26 degrees, he looked at our situation (leak in our landscaping plumbing and water would not stop flowing.) He checked a few things, and told us that our best bet was to try and dig and find the shut off for the sprinkler system. He didn't charge us, but his knowledge about where to start digging was beyond helpful. My husband and I dressed for the elements and went to start digging where he suggested. I had a clog in my sink. First, these people show a Bend address on Google, but they operate out of Redmond. It appears that the initial visit charge is based on how far you are away from Redmond. They show phone numbers and addresses as if they have locations in Bend and La Pine (which is not true), but if you call those numbers, you get Eugene which is their central answering service. When I asked her if they are an answering service, she told me no, which is not true. So, she told me I had to pay a minimum of $200+ if the Redmond Roto Rooter come out whether they fix something or not. Then that nasty lady in Eugene "central planning" told me to trust them. REALLY? After waiting a couple of hours for a call back, I so was I took the drain apart and fixed the clog myself. Then this really nice lady from Redmond called me to set up an appointment. What's the point of having my initial call routed to Eugene anyway????? read more

My father lives here in Springfield OR and they were told someone would be out to his home waaaayyyyyy before now! They called this afternoon to (around 1:00 pm) to go to the cemetery to lay flowers on my mom's grave and would be back shortly.....they said they would call him shortly to let him know they were coming....well, it's 4:10 pm and they still have not called my father! Come on people have some common courtesy for clients or should I say "would be clients"! It is very rude of Roto-Rooter not to at least call and give him a time frame of some sort! I was so disappointed in the service I received yesterday in regards to fixing my garbage disposal. The plumber came in and told me it would be $135 or $360 if the whole unit had to be replaced. I thought to myself that seemed a little expensive, but if my garbage disposal was going to be working right before the holidays, it would be worth it. He got down under the sink and within 3 minutes told me it wasn't actually the garbage disposal at all, but in fact an electrical issue. He then went on to charge me $135 when he was at my home for less than 10 minutes and only told me that I needed to call an electrician. Not only was nothing fixed in my home, he charged be an arm and a leg to be at my home for less than 10 minutes. I will never call rotorooter again. read more

I don't usually get frustrated with companies, but I have to say that I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. They charge 165 just to re-light your pilot light, and if it was the 15 dollar part above the pilot light that they didn't check the first time or I would have had hot water, they want another 165 to come back out for 10 more minutes to fix their mistake! They kept insisting I needed a new water heater, but the next gentleman I had to hire found and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes. If they insist you need a new water heater I wouldn't take their word for it. Hope this helps! read more

I was leaving for a 2 week vacation and my toilet tank was having issues. The flapper was funky and would not always pop back into place after flushing. Since I had a friend staying at my house while I was gone, I decided to do the right thing and replace the flapper so he wouldn't have to open the tank and manually pop the flapper back in to place. I had been doing this periodically for a couple of months and it was gross in a murky, black and greasy kind of way. I purchased a new flapper at my neighborhood True Value and went to work. I turned off the water, removed the old flapper, read the instructions on the new flapper package, and then immediately broke the pipe that the flapper fits on. The ancient pipe, an original from 1954, was so corroded that it snapped like a twig in my hands. Surprisingly, I did not curse. Instead I cried. This was an emergency. I didn't know who to call so I googled local plumbers. The first place couldn't help me, but grudgingly gave me two other numbers to call. Neither phone was answered. Then the Roto-Rooter jingle that's been around since at least the 1970s popped into my head. I called them and the gal on the phone was great. She got a plumber out to my house in a little over 1 hour. He rebuilt my toilet that afternoon and was very informative and efficient. I was still able to pick up my rental car and make it work on time for my last shift before vacation. It was the first 2 week vacation I've ever had in my adult life and I was able to enjoy it knowing that my friend who watched my house had a functional throne on which to muse. We were having a problem with a leak somewhere under our house so we called Roto Rooter. The guy came out to our house rather quick. You would think that this would be a good review with what is written so far, but that's not the case. We needed to find out where the leak was coming from. The guy that showed up wouldn't get under the house just looked at the opening to get under the house. Then wrote a quote for no more then $400 then left without really doing anything.
