What they pulled at my home was not just unprofessional--it was manipulative, unethical, and borderline criminal. I called for a toilet backup. Their technician shows up, shoves a camera down the pipe for 2 minutes, then confidently declares my entire sewer line is "collapsed." No snaking. No jetting. No second attempt. Just an instant diagnosis of "collapse" followed by a hard sell for a $15,500 excavation. When I hesitated, I was told: "If you don't want us to do it, I'll call everyone and tell them to go home." That's not service. That's extortion dressed up in work boots. Then comes the magic act: in one quick phone call, the price drops to $13,500--because apparently life-altering plumbing decisions can be bartered down like a flea market table. The tech kept pushing this doomsday story, saying "No matter who you call, it's collapsed," deliberately trying to box me in during a holiday week with a 7-person household needing water. Fast forward: I approved under pressure. What did they find? A basic clog. That's it. No collapse. No structural failure. Just a blockage and a gasket they claimed was "compromised"--which my photos clearly show was intact. We had the EXACT same experience as so many other on here. My mother (who is in her late 60's and lives alone) called for a routine water leak in the basement. Roto Rooter sent out Frank Rivera #3286 and within minutes he was selling my retired, widowed mom on the urgent need to replace the pipe from the house to the street for THIRTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. They gave the hard sell and a short time later she was handing over her credit card to pay 13K for a service that was NOT needed. This is a retired nurse and grandmother, and they completely took advantage of her -- as it is clear they do often from so many of the other reviews on here. It's sickening. We have since had MULTIPLE licensed contractors out since who have all said the pipe repair DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE. They sent a crew to completely destroy her basement for the "demo" and then sent an adjuster who low-balled her with a repair estimate. It has been an absolute nightmare. In mid October 2023 Roto Rooter unclogged our sewer line from the street to the house. For $6,500.00 they replaced the pipe from the street to the house. The township approved the pipe replacement in November. It's been a nightmare working with them ever since. We've Called many times to get them to come out and fill the holes back in. In early December they filled the hole in front of my fence back in, but not behind the fence panel and now bc of all of the wind and rain, the fence panel has collapsed & broke the top half of the pipe they just put in that connects to the house. We've called several more times and each time a rude woman named Sharon says she'll send someone out and will let the manager know, but as of today (1/10/2024), they've yet to return to finish the job & now the hole is filled with water, my fence is completely broken, & they genuinely don't seem to care about their customers. If you're thinking about using this company to fix your problems...DON'T. They don't care about the quality of their work as long as you pay them their ridiculous high prices. read more

Be aware!!!!!!!!!Save your money and time. I am Not one to complain but in cases like I just experienced I feel the need to share with everyone my interactions, as I have realized with some research my experience has been like some others and is very harmful and manipulative. I called root-rooter and they came out pretty quickly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The kid who showed was nice and friendly but asked me where my pipes are and if I can show him the ones he needs! I am not a plumber or familiar with what he needs so I couldn't. He inspected and "fixed" my upstairs bathroom clog after 5 hours. Two days later I found out he pushed the clog to my downstairs bathroom. He came back out for 4 hours with no luck unclogging. The next morning a guy stopped by and said he was a supervisor and ran a camera in my sewer line. Within 3 minutes he said the pipe was cracked and they could unclog it but it would be likely that the pipe would clog again in the near future with the crack and they could quote to dig up and repair. He said it would be between 6,000 and 8,000. The kid came back and attempted to unclog for 4 hours without success. He said he did what he could do and now they have to dig to repair the pipe. Only 1 toilet was clogged and with the help of a friend I found out that it was showing signs of being clogged on the inside and not the mainline. They were only treating the mainline and still hadn't found the clog with the camera just going off assumption. I asked for another guy to come out and fix it. Another guy came out and attempted and got the snake stuck. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the supervisor with my friend who is more versed in plumbing. He asked questions about what is going on and was very disrespected by the supervisor. The supervisor said that if a customer wants the service done they paid for they would do it. He was very defensive the whole time and attempted to argue with my friend who remained calm and friendly. He said phrases that supervisors should NEVER say like "what are you not understanding". The supervisor hung up and wouldn't answer again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I reached out to the GM and corporate. The GM was much more helpful, he got a guy out there within an hour to get the snake out and unclog the toilet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After investigation and showing the camera man on my ring to the new guy. The supervisor was in fact NOT a supervisor. He just called himself one. And it felt that he was driving sales. Trying to scare me into an expensive service that ended up not even being needed. When the new guy put the camera down the sewer, he in fact found no crack and was able to take the toilet off and push the clog! Please be aware and cautious. Taking advantage of those who don't know should NEVER be company policy and I feel this was what was happening to me. I was lied to, mislead, and almost spent 6-8 grand on a service not needed. 0 Stars I moved into a new home a week ago. Sunday night we experienced a plumbing issue where water began to leak out of the ceiling from the master bath. I've used this company in other homes in other counties and never seemed to have an issue. Called Sunday came plumber came this morning. My fiancé text me saying he was extremely uncomfortable. the plumber was extremely disrespectful to the point of feeling the man was discriminating against my fiancé. 1st to have someone come into our home and disrespect the homeowner in that way is beyond unprofessional and disgraceful. 2nd he wanted to charge us $465 to change the valve in one bathroom (the bathroom that wasn't causing the leak) then said it would be another $200 to MAYBE fix the toilet with the leaking issue, because that toilet was inconvenient and difficult to fix so he wasn't guaranteeing by paying $200 it would be fixed just that he would try... My fiancée rightfully kicked the technician out of our home. We called another company to do the work Roto - Rooter wanted to charge us $665 for. The other delightfully kind licensed plumber charged us $265. I called to speak with someone and shocker was sent to voicemail and never received a return call Absolutely shameful, will never ever use roto- rooter again and will share this experience everywhere. read more

Absolutely horrible, the "manager" or who ever he is David B. couldn't be more crooked. He tried to charge me $7,500 for a new main for a problem my second opinion plumber fixed in 30 mins with a snake. (Bommer Plumbing by the way if you need an honest capable plumber). They will over charge you every chance they get, I should have learned my lesson last year with this same exact guy who quoted my $750 to snake my drain because of the difficult location to snake from. The township came out for free and did it the next day btw for that one. I honestly have considered reporting them to the better business bureau. I urge you to use ANYONE else. Live in moorestown. Not sure office location. Suppose to be here between 4 and 5. At 450 recieved a call be 20 minutes. Now 545 and no show..no call. Called back and whomever answered said they are in route. Nope. If cant come out for an estimate on time. We cant see trusting anything pertaining to the job . It was a new sewer line.. A big job. they are very expensive and overcharge you while telling you that you are getting a discount, they told me they had to did up the yard but when I came home I could not even tell they were there, first charged me $700, they came back the next day and charged me 6,850. and then told me I got a discount of a $1000. try are a ripoff and I will definitely not recommended this company to anyone read more

The township I live in had some sort of sewer blockage that forced the main sewer line in my basement to back up and burst. My basement ended up totally flooded with 2 inches of water on the floor. Talk about a disgusting mess! Despite this all happening on a Sunday, Roto-Rooter was able to get a supervisor out to my house within 30-minutes to evaluate everything. Within another 30-minutes a crew of 6+ guys were at my house taking care of the plumbing issues and performing the clean up. Roto-Rooter did a great job on everything. They put a huge effort on not contaminating any other areas of the house while working, and were able to finish the entire job on the same day. I would give negative stars if possible. Just moved into a home that was remodeled. Lower level bathroom flooded, called roto and they sent some techs out (extremely nice) to fix. They removed toilet and snaked drain to 40 ft (took 30 mins max) for the "low cost"of $660. Then, they send camera dude who tells me to replace sewer lines immediately for the "bargain" cost of $9,500. I didn't feel comfortable shelling out that kind of $$ one week after buying home so I waited. Three days later drain clogged again, I called Roto back who said I had a 6 month "guarantee". They show up and tell me my guarantee is not longer guaranteed because I need to replace sewer line, however, they will snake it again for the "low cost" of $660 and subtract it from my sewer line replacement bill. At this point, it all seemed fishy, I reached out to a local plumber who told me to tell them to leave immediately, which I did. He came over spent almost 3 hours snaking drain to 130ft. I have had no issues what so ever since that time. The local plumber also said if I ever want to replace sewer line he would charge $4,200. Do not use this company. They work on commission (corporate mistake) and do not have customers best interest at heart. Really disappointing! read more

The last thing you want to have to deal with is an emergency plumbing issue late at night but they provided amazing customer service from start to finish. They kept us updated on when we can expect the plumber and he was right on time, within 2 hours of when we called in. Dan Morales was super friendly and explained everything he was doing. He got the job done pretty quickly and painlessly and went above and beyond by correctly remounting our toilet which was apparently installed wrong when our house was flipped. I hope I don't need a plumber again in the near future but if I do, I know who to call. read more

Scheduled appointment online last night for the afternoon today. Received a confirmation email within five minutes. At 11:30 AM today I received a call from dispatch that the tech was enroute. Mike, Tech # 165 arrived at 12 noon, analyzed my problem which was a leak in the bathtub faucet, applied the $40 coupon and started to work after I agreed to the price. The tech was friendly that came. However..... Did not do all that he promised. Said he would scope drains for blockages for free and didn't. Had to replace a toilet due to it leaking. Bought a brand new toilet from lowes and now after the installation its leaking worse then the first toilet. Called them up to get them to come out and they won't come out till morning for an active leak they caused by not installing it properly. 24 hrs to them means they have a call center that will take your call not that they will come out any time of night. beware. read more

The plumber was professional and did good work installing 1 faucet but his Roto-Rooter office didn't schedule enough time for him to complete the entire job. (I was glad he didn't have time once he gave me the estimate!) The plumber arrived at 3pm and said he was off work at 4 or 4:30. When we made the appointment it was for their plumber to install 5 faucets and the scheduler should have known that more time was required. The plumber quoted us a price of $2,100.00 for all 5 faucets but said he could only do 1 at such a late time in the day. I let him install the 1 faucet since we had no running water and was charged $380. I called around and found there were other independent master plumbers who would charge $140-$175 a faucet. Roto-Rooter does guarantee their work for a year. Still it's just a faucet install, not major plumbing work and this Roto-Rooter under schedules the time needed for its jobs and overcharges. I used the independent plumbers for the installation of the other 4 faucets and paid about $700 in total. I'm taking off one star for this Roto-Rooter office under scheduling our job and taking off another star for overcharging. read more

I had a clogged drain pipe in my kitchen. I called at 9 AM and a tech was here in less than an hour. He was very professional and did a great job. He also let me know which foods should definitely not go into the garbage disposal. I decided to not use it again at all. I do think the price was a bit hefty but it isn't anything that I didn't expect. I had my entire basement flood because of a septic backup Roto Rooter was not my first call it was to a local plumber who did not get back to me for a couple of hours, by then Roto Rooter was already here fixed the spectic issues and had a team of people here cleaning up the mess. I went from not knowing what I was going to do to having a house back in livable condition for my family within 6 hours. We had Roto Rooter come out for a clogged sewer line (lateral). The tech came and snaked the line. He told my wife there was mud and said the trap had deteriorated and would need to be replaced. This involved excavation and several thousand dollars. When I arrived home he told me the trap was cracked or broken- not the same as deteriorated. The following day the excavation crew replaced the trap. However, when I asked to see the trap, they said it was back in the ground. Funny thing is they replaced the clean out pipe and that was in the back of their truck, but they put the "broken" part back in the ground, burying it (?). The same tech came out to check the line and said it needed to be water jetted from the cleanout to the sewer and wanted to charge an additional $400+. I told him that was covered in the original contract and showed him the same. He claimed that when he quoted the price it was to water jet from the house to the cleanout, not the cleanout to the sewer. The contract cleary indicates that the rest of the line would be checked and water jetted if needed. He eventually agreed to snake the line and this cleared the line. He then left without saying another word to me, apparently upset he was not able to swindle another $400+ out of me. Several days later and yet another backup. This apparently was not the problem and now they are claiming it is another issue. To add to it the sidewalk and dirt they removed during excavation has sunk considerably, obviously not have been packed properly and quite possibly due to some erosion from water leaking from the sewer line. Interestingly, we contacted the borough prior to Roto Rooter to check on the problem. They found a clog in the clean-out, but never said anything about mud in the line. Both times the public works employee was able to clear the line with their limited tool-a plunger. read more

I had a major plumbing issue complete with a flooded basement on Thanksgiving Day. Frantic, I called Roto Rooter and had a technician at my house within an hour. While I missed Thanksgiving dinner with my family, I had several Roto Rooter professionals helping me throughout the day and night to solve the issue and clean up the mess...quickly and courteously. I honestly couldn't believe I was able to experience that level of help and service on a holiday! It was such a huge relief. Frank Rivera, Tech #3286, came out when I called about my water line leaking and bubbling out of my lawn. I had just had them replace my sewer line a month ago. So, Frank was very pleasant and courteous. He had Kevin & Dan come out to my house within 1/2 hr. and they laid an entire new water line. It was expensive, but at least I know it won't leak in a different spot later. They cleaned up very well, made sure my gate was locked for my dog, and even swept the sidewalk and driveway. I've always had Roto-Rooter because they're very fast getting the job done with minimal disruption to water or sewer service. I'll use them again when I have another plumbing job. read more

As usual something disastrous happens over a long holiday weekend. My hot water heater drain valve starting dripping. We tried tightening and capping the valve, it just starting dripping more. I dreaded calling plumbers on the holiday weekend but this was something that couldn't wait. I placed several calls to area plumbers but of course no one answered the phone but one.. Roto Rooter the dispatching center was pleasant and professional, explained the service call procedures, They even told me if I wasn't happy with the quote I didn't have to except it and I wouldn't be charged a service call. Sounded great to me. They dispatched a team to my house gave me a 4 hour window and they showed up in 1.5hr or less, to my amazement. As a daughter of a plumber, I know enough to be dangerous and enough to know when to call someone. I never drained a water heater on my own, I knew what part needed to be replaced but I wasn't about to screw up my water heater. I couldn't of been more happy with my service expert Richard and trainee Domingo. They explained the quote, labor charges, timeframe of completion, and the part cost. I was even invited to watch and learn along with the apprentice Domingo. Both gentleman spoke to me respectfully and professionally. As an Human Resource professional, another wonderful aspect shined about the two gentleman both were very appreciative to have jobs and the both loved the company. Neither were bitter about being at worked on labor day. I wish I could hire a million of Richard and Domingo.
