We have two story house that has an upstairs and downstairs bathroom that are directly on top of each other. The problem is the downstairs sink has a trap that really likes to catch debris from the main drain due to really small trap. So about once a year we have a plumber out to clear out that sink and often the upstairs sink as well for being slow. This time it was around $650 Sergio did a great job. Both sinks drain without an issue, and everything was put back in the bathrooms with no sign he had been here. We also got a cal to confirm our appointment, which I made online, the next business day. I got another call 20 min before our plumber showed up. I also got emails and texts, but those were a bit delayed. Also this is the 2nd year we have used this group, and very happy both times. read more

Ive used roto rooter for years and never felt I paid too much. This year I've used them twice... shame on me for the second time. They charged me 1300 to clear a toilet in SoCal and 1700 for the same job in NorCal. What the hell!!! I don't know anyone that charges 1700 per hour!! Do not Trust this company. Most expensive quotes, price gauging Poor service. Not trustworthy.. wanted to charge $650 for an easy Dishwasher install. Negotiated down to $80. He didn't even finish the install? They also claimed water Heater needed to be replaced and quoted $6,000 to handle. I laughed said no way to both offers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY/BUSINESS (franchise). I have so much to say but to summarize. I paid over over $4k with "discounts" for a flange replacement and clearing a blockage. The supervisor used a locator but charged me for a camera. I never saw what was blocking the pipes. They never changed the 4" ABS closet bend that they said was cracked. The tech decided he wanted to do something else to "save me money" than what they quoted me for which actually meant save him time, effort and I don't have to hire someone to fix the concrete that they said they needed to break to replace the closet bend. The supervisor deducted $850 for not breaking concrete. They supposedly used an "expensive equipment" to clear whatever was backing up the pipe then ran the hydrojetter from the flange area. Due to a lapse in judgment, I allowed this company to scam me. They are dishonest and untrustworthy. I had to complain to the corporate office to get someone to adjust my final bill to market price but owner/area manager gave me the SAME response that I got from the manager. I understand being on the same page as your team but to blatantly up-charge customers, put random charges in the bill is disappointing. I'm at a shock that companies can't even be honest nowadays, I have no problem paying for a skilled trades worker but I won't tolerate being ripped off. Be a better company if you want more customers. Flange repair $3,125.17 Minus $850.00 no tile or concrete broken Hydro scrubbing $1,600.00 - who charges this much for a hydro-jetter?! Seriously! I asked them how much it would cost for a basic snake to the main clean out and they said 350. I got quoted from TO plumbing 100, so eventually I decided for them not to come out. Ventura Roto-Rooter came out to locate and repair a drain leak in our 3rd floor toilet. Since I was in a time crunch to get the repair work done in a couple of days, I hired them to complete the job at double the price of an honest plumber. It is a very long story but suffice it to say that it was a very poor experience. Joan came and using a very 75 ft drain snake. Instead of clearing the toilet line, he cleared the different line. Toilet still clogged. Roto Rooter wants to charge me $2,500 to do the Hidrojet. I called the different company. It cost me $500 to remove the toilet and clear the line. read more

Parents had a small leak from their shower handle where you turn it on a off. Roto rooter sent out one of their plumbers to check it out. Showed him the shower and he took pictures and a video of the small drip coming out then said he had to show his boss and see what price to charge. I said okay no problem. Came back in and told us it just needed a new part to change out from behind the lever and shouldn't take more than an hour. Great how much? He says $650 bucks. Said thanks but no thanks and he leaves. Called in another local plumber came in took 45 minutes and charged $165 bucks. I called Roto-Rooter and elsewhere to get competitive bids for a non-urgent toilet drain clog caused from roots growing into the downstairs toilet drain. After receiving other bids I picked Roto-Rooter mainly because I trusted the tech, Danny, and his no pressure, straight talk about the problem and alternative solutions. He came back, fixed it that same day. He put down plastic sheeting, did a thorough and professional repair, answered all my questions, worked to keep things clean during the repairs, put everything back perfectly, tested it and sanitized the area afterwards. It's literally like having a new toilet again! Danny is a top-notch pro in every respect. There's a reason they've been around forever. I have been a 15 year repeat customer of Roto Rotor in Ventura. I needed the two drains on either side of my house cleaned out before the winter rains. the last time they came out they charged $179. this time Julio came out and quoted me $1100 to do the exact same thing. he did not go into my backyard nor measure the distance of the drains. just went to his truck and typed some stuff on an iPad and came back with this outrageous price. We had a plumbing catastrophe at our house. Our bathtub had a clog that could not be removed and it turned out that the pipes under the house were completely corroded. Joseph De La Cruz and his son came promptly--wearing masks--and evaluated the situation. It turned out that the plumbing in both bathrooms had to be completely replaced. It was a huge job, but Big and Little Joe were both pros. They were very considerate of the ways the work was interfering with our lives. They let us know what was happening all the time and they made sure we had access to at least one bathroom as much of the time as possible. They also showed us all of the pipes they needed to remove and made what needed to be done very clear to us. I recommend them without hesitation or reserve. Horrible customer service, disconnected water lines and did not reconnect, also tried to sell me a "solution" for $3,500 which was discounted and turns out that was a lie since my actual plumber I use for all my properties was able to get back to me. He informed me roto rooters service solution was completely wrong, they also tried to say they couldn't snake or use a camera when it turns out that they actually could. They were trying to put me into a corner of one single solution that wouldn't have solved the problem and would cause me to give them $3,500 plus whatever else would end up being the actual solution. Clean up crew also never showed up, never called me so I was left finding an emergency service which actually showed up and helped me. So you tell me who would you pick as a service? Roto Rooter was told the problem and what we had already done to try to fix it. They sent a plumber who was only equipped to try to fix it with the same equipment we had already tried. (A quarter inch snake with no tip.) Needless to say his attempt failed also. He then quoted a price over 4 times as much as I ultimately paid another plumber to fix it with a hydro jet. The person Roto Rooter sent was also rude and condescending to me. In contrast, the next plumber I called had the hydro jet already on his truck, was polite and respectful and did the job quickly. read more

I called Roto Rooter at around 4:45pm on 2/15 and explained that I needed to replace the angle valve in my bathroom because it was leaking and I did not know where the shut-off is for the house (I'm a renter). I asked for an estimate over the phone, and the representative said they assess the problem for FREE and give an estimate before doing any work. Fine by me. When the plumber arrived a little after 6pm, he was able to locate the shutoff valve just outside my house within seconds and easily turn off the water. He then asked if I was going to replace the part myself or wanted him to do it. I asked for the price, and was told $375. I turned it down because it was too expensive. He then said I need to pay a $80 service charge. I asked, "for pointing out the shutoff and pulling it up?" He said he turned the water off and explained how it works and that was the service. I refused the fee and explained that the phone rep said estimates are given before any work is done. He then promptly left. I called back on 2/17 and explained the situation, asking if that is standard procedure. The rep said "no," apologized, and said she'd look into it. Either what the plumber did is considered service and he should have explained that outright at the start, or he was trying to swindle me. I will keep this a short as possible. Basically an incompetent plumber was sent out on a Saturday to clear a drain clog. The toilet was backing up into my shower (Ewwww!). He pulled the toilet in the guest bath, but was unable to clear it. He sited all kinds of reasons, possible root intrusion, cracked pipes, etc. He told me, quite elaborately, that I could use the facilities. If it was "number 1", don't flush. If it was "number 2" only flush a little (What?). The camera crew (plumbers) would be out Monday morning at 8am. Well, I didn't use the facilities because...well, that's just gross. I did become a regular at the local coffee shop, and I learned who my nearest, dear friends were because I needed to borrow their shower. I did however, turn on the washing machine, and that was when I learned he had left an open sewer hole. Yes, that's right. An open sewer hole that was now spewing all over my bath, bedrooms, hallway, etc. I cleaned it up as best as I could. Monday morning came, no Roto-rooter. Finally in the afternoon an older gentlemen came out and had the clog cleared in a few minutes from the roof. He told me Junior (saturday's technician) didn't like to get on the root. You have got to be kidding me. And then he charged me $316.23. So a few days later I realize that my laminate floor is curling up and bulging. The sewer water had gotten trapped between the floor and the moisture barrier. Now I have to call my home owner's insurance and a restoration company. Long, story long (sorry), I am out $1000 deductible. My house is torn up because they had to remove everything the waste water had touched. I had to move out to a hotel. My businesses on hold. I am still waiting for approval to repair my home. I called Roto-Rooter 3 times to discuss. I got one return call in the form of a message and then never heard from them again. I have written a letter. To no avail. I am disappointed because I checked their reviews. I was teaching that day and just needed it fixed. I had no idea it would lead to time and money losses like this. It would be one thing if they had been decent, ethical business owners and contacted me. But no. They completely scammed us for a new septic tank and charged us $52,000. The septic tank failed and now my home has been uninhabitable for 5 months. Joseph De La Cruz and his son Joey De La Cruz (contractors license: Lic# 966412) said our septic tank had failed in December, they put in a new one without a permit in February which has now also failed and is made of such flimsy plastic it is now caving in on itself. They didn't hook it up to the existing leach lines as requested, they added "filters" instead which I did not agree to. They didn't install these with gravel around them so now they are clogged with dirt and have also failed. They said they could instead build an above ground tank that would cost $600 a month to empty, I declined obviously. However, they did make me pay to get the new septic tank pumped every week and a half for $2,000 which is double the price and they never fully emptied it any of those times. This issue began a few days before Christmas December 2022 and it is now nearly May 2023 and we still don't have a working septic system. I now believe that the original septic system never failed in the first place. DO NOT TRUST Roto Rooter, they are NOT professionals and will scam you and subcontract others to do the work for them. This adds to the overall cost making everything cost at least 3x what it should. The quality of work is extremely poor and, again, they are scam artists. For those wondering, a new septic tank shouldn't cost more than $20,000 and make sure you get a geoscientist to test soil samples and a permit before starting any work on replacing a septic tank. Not to mention, my wedding was supposed to be happening during all of this which we had to find a new venue for and an extra $10,000 cost. They also didn't remove the old septic tank, they merely covered it with dirt so now it is a sink hole in my yard. We can no longer flush toilets, shower, do dishes or laundry which has officially deemed the house uninhabitable. Like I said, I think the original septic tank might have not needed replacing at all in the first place. Roto Rooter the company has not reached out to us or our lawyer, they seem fine with letting these types of things continue. If I could give this company negative stars I absolutely would. read more

Arnold from Oxnard, CA .The company charge me a night time fee of $79 for a wrong diagnostic and they were unable to do the job that night. I have call my regular plumber to get a leak fix, but my Plumber said he can't do it that night and have to come in the morning. So I called Roto Rooter and said they would charge me a $79 night fee to come asap. I said ok as long as they can fix the issue that night. The technician came in and he said he has to change a coroded valve because that's where the leak was and not on the hose as we expected. He said it would cost $575. I said ok go ahead and do it. He said he can't do it that night because he does not have the part and have to come back in the morning. So, I said in that case, cancel them because my plumber can do it in the morning. He then said he still has to charge me the $79 night fee even though it's not my fault he does not have the part needed. I did pay for the $79 just to get them going. The next morning my plumber came in and he said there was nothing wrong with the valve and only has to tighten the hose. He was there for 10 minutes and didn't even charge us for anything. I was glad I wasn't duped for the wrong diagnostic by Roto Rooter and have paid $575 for part I didn't need but I'm still kind of piss off because of the $79 I paid for them coming in and giving me the wrong diagnosis. I will never call Roto-rooter again in my life. read more

It was an all day job because we couldnt find the clear-out and had to do it from inside, but he was full speed all day, constantly problem-solving with various pieces of equipment and didnt even stop for lunch. These idiots sent some kid and brother duo to fix our toilet that was flooding the shower. They ended up flooding half of the house with two inches of water which caused my macbook to be completely damaged and puddles all over my house.
