We had a tough clog in our guest bathroom bathtub drain pipe. Made an appointment for the following morning and Jesse from Roto-Rooter was sent to help us. He snaked the drain with two different snakes without success hitting the same stubborn spot. He advised a hydro jet at a reasonable price and left to come back with the equipment. On the way back he brought another snake to give it one last attempt before hydro jetting. Third time was a charm and it broke thru the clog. Jesse was honest and attempted all he could before moving on to the next potential solution and luckily we had success. Jesse was super informative on ways to maintain these infrequently used pipes going forward. He had a positive and calm demeanor and was a hard worker. Terrible customer service!! We have been having ongoing issues with our plumbing for a while and are just trying to make it through a bit longer. (Moving in one week to be exact) We often need a plumber to come out and snake the pipes, and it will last for a few weeks. Today a technician named Jesus came out to the property and REFUSED to snake the toilet!! He first claimed they offer a one month warranty, so I told him we just had it snaked three weeks ago. He then instantly said actually it's only a two week warranty in this situation!! I said we are willing to pay again to have it snaked but he still refused to snake the pipes. I even expressed to Jesus that we have had to pee outside due to the lack of a toilet and he again refused!! I am so incredibly upset with this terrible lack of customer service! And we will now be without a toilet for another night!!! read more

I had a major water leak affecting three rooms. I called water restoration at Roto Rooter and they came out the very next day. The team I had was Andy, Tim and Pablo (plumber). They were so professional and courteous. They advised me of everything they were doing every step of the way. They were always punctual and as this was quite an extensive job they even came out every day during the drying process to check on it. They were very concious of inconveniencing me and did the job as smoothly as possible. I have an indoor cat and they were very aware of her in making sure all doors were closed at all times so she could not get out. I would highly recommend Roto Rooter to all my associates. I had a great experience with Vicente's crew in Santa Barbara. Until calling Roto-Rooter, I had difficulty getting anyone to respond to my requests for service. They responded in a timely fashion and were available to do the work immediately. They were professional and efficient and tidy. I had them install a trenchless liner into my 100 yr old sewer line. They were very knowledgeable and gave me options. I found their prices comparable to others. It may not have been the cheapest, but they certainly made up for it in their great service. read more

Overpriced and under performed. I had a blocked sewer line from my house on Saturday July 3, and toilet sewage (a nice term for sh*t) was coming up out of the clean out on the front walkway. I told the scheduler that it was a tree root issue and to please have the technician prepared to deal with the problem when they arrived. The guy came (a nice guy), inspected and informed me that I had a tree root problem. That cost me $275. He then told me that they needed to video inspect and hydro jet for a combined cost of over $2,000, on top of the $275 I had already paid. When I balked at the price he told me that a supervisor would come out that evening at 5pm to speak with me and to see if they could do anything better. So apparently this service is a negotiated price - what the market will bear? The supervisor never showed up at 5pm and I received no call or email informing me that he wouldn't be coming. I was able to call another company that evening. The guy who came out was very nice and professional and took care of the problem right away. For $600. I won't be calling Roto-Rooter again. read more

We had a leak in our bathroom. It didn't smell good. I called 6 plumbers and nobody could come out quickly. I called Roto Rooter - Ventura. They got somebody there within 2 hours. After they diagnosed my problem, they worked to fix it for the next 1.5 days straight. They were the nicest guys (Matthew and Sam), did great work, kept me informed along the process, cleaned up everything so nicely and were gentle in giving me the bill. I enjoyed having them around the house with my kids and felt safe. I wouldn't have thought I would have this experience and paid almost $3,000 but that's why we have a savings account. I recently experienced a slow leak from my upstairs shower that was clogged so i decided to request service with an online message and got no response. After calling, they came over the next day. The technician assessed the problem and told me they would have to remove drywall from the ceiling and that I was responsible for the repairs. The cost was $2,300 after assessing the leak for 15 minutes. The technician insisted that other plumbers wouldn't guarantee their work for 3 years and that corporate would chew him out if he lowered the price any. Naturally, I got a second opinion and had the leak fixed for $300. It turns out the shower plumbing could be accessed for the upstairs closet after using a camera to assess the situation. My home was built in 1960. I have had plumbing issues for 20 years. Each time something would happen we would call a plumber. It became a regular nightmare. Finally last week, the lines plugged again, but couldn't be opened. Instead of doing a quick fix, I wanted to know what was going on and fixed for good. We called Roto Rooter and Jesse came the next morning. Upon trying to fix the problem he talked with us and said he would need to have his supervisor come. They came out and did a thorough inspection of my entire house. FINALLY! He gave me a price to fix the problem and Jesse took over and proceeded to fix everything. They used cameras and showed every crack in the drains and what they had to do. It was not cheap but I didn't expect it to be. What I wanted is to have it fixed. The repair took several days and Jesse did a wonderful job. He was polite and let us know every step of the way what they were doing. He was here every morning and stayed late some nights. I absolutely recommend Roto Rooter to do any plumbing work you need. They are the best team I have ever worked with. read more

Called Roto Rooter because I had a clogged outside drain. I had a nice guy one out and try to unclog it. He stated his coil was to large 1/4 inch round. He didn't even charge me. When I explained this to Jeff from Roto Rooter, he told me he could try, but it would cost me $224.75. I said ok. He brought out this machine with a 1 inch coil. I told him it wasn't going to work which it didn't. It took him 15 minutes. He gave me my bill for the $224.75, which I had to pay. He knew it wouldn't work, but could see easy money. When I tried to call supervisor, I got the blow off. These people are crooks. After some research, I found there are people that will try to unclog drains and not charge if they ant do it. I should have done that first. Crooks, don't do business with them. Additional information, after posting this review, I got numerous harassing remarks from a Josh, (unknown if he is connected to this company,) they got so bad, I had to contact law enforcement). Feeling like I've just been taken to the cleaners. We were just charged $1,200 to clear a main drain. I've never paid more than $250 for this in the 37 years I have lived here and had this done multiple times. For some reason, Roto Rooter techs said they couldn't clear the drain using the tried and true snaking machine and had to use their fancy hydrojet. It took about 15 minutes and $1,200. And, they are coming back tomorrow, probably to try to get more money. This sure feels like a rip off, even tho the techs were polite. Not planning on using Roto Rooter again. read more

We had a water leak in a hillside home on Christmas day 2020. We were out of the state so our cat sitters called ROTO-ROOTER 800-491-7686 OR 805-620-7875. A technician arrived in about twenty minutes. He thought it was sewer water and called a restoration technician. The 2nd technician cleaned up the water from a 10 x 5 tiled bathroom, applied a cleaner to the tile and was gone in under an hour. The bill was $500.00. He called me and suggested that I hire a leak detection group wih his firm that would start at $700.00. I said that I needed to wait until I was home to take a look at the problem. I approved the payment of $500.00. The plumbing technician was unable to find the source of the water seepage after two hours of searching. He called me and I thanked him, approved his invoice for $379.00. I went under the house on 12/28 and found the source of the leak in 15 minutes behind the wall for the shower. read more

Stay away! This company charged thousands to snake and camera a pipe and missed the other line and caused thousands in damage. When I asked them to fix it they sent a crew out and said there was deadly waste and they needed thousands of dollars to clean the house. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! I had a horrible experience with them. I called them to unclog my main drain on my house. The plumber showed up and put a snake down the drain and told me he couldn't go past the back flow valve and that I would need to get a camera down there to see where the back up was. He called his supervisor Vincente who brought the camera over. Vincente also wouldn't put the camera past the back flow valve claiming it would get stuck and he'd have to dig up my driveway to get it out and told me I would need to Hydro Jet the line to clear it up and told me the back up was caused by the back flow valve. He charged me $1250.00 to Hydro Jet my drain line. He also told me I had to replace the valve and gave me a quote for almost $6000 with the discounts! The hydro jet unclogged it and the water was going down. However a day later, the line was backed up again. So I called Vincente and told him it was backed up again and wanted him to come back to fix it or give me my money back. He immediately got defensive and told me he wouldn't give me my money back because I didn't get the valve replaced. When he said he would send the plumber back, I asked him to wait so I could get a second opinion. Well the next plumber had no problem putting his snake or his camera past the back flow valve and he found the real problem about 20 feet further down the drain line. I had roots growing in to my drain which he cleared with a snake, no problem. Then he put his camera down the drain to find it was offset from the city connection and I had him fix it. I also got a quote from him to fix the back flow valve as it was definitely wearing but still worked. He did the valve fix for $2000! And this was a fully licensed well reviewed plumber who gave me a 15 year warranty with it as well. Thats $4000 less than what Roto Rooter quoted me. I had the valve and the offset pipe fixed for less than the quote for just the valve from Roto Rooter. These guys are total scammers and prey on homeowners who the assume don't know anything about plumbing! I told Vincente while he was here that I thought there was a block further down the line but he refused to put his snake or camera down the drain far enough to see the real problem. So you'd think that Vincente and Roto Rooter would do the right thing and refund my $1250 I paid for a service they did that didn't solve the problem but nope! These guys solution to my problem was completely wrong and they charged up the wazoo! Heres a message for Roto Rooter: Refund my money now! How dare you charge me for services that didn't work. If I could give you ZERO stars on the review I would! read more

When I got home from work, my yard was flooded and I thought that it was going to start coming into my house so I called Roto-Rooter in Ventura. The person the phone was very nice and told me that they were really busy with all of the rain but said they would get someone over to my house in a couple of hours. They told me that they would keep me updated. About an hour later they called me to give me an update when they would be at my house. About an hour later they got to my house, it was raining really hard but the plumber worked on the drain for almost 2 hours. They told me that they had to pull a lot of roots and mud out of the yard drain. I am really happy with the service that Roto Rooter did. They saved my house from being flooded. This company was unreal. My toilet was leaking called for repair guy came here Friday evening telling us he didn't have the ring that seals it? I questioned how a big company wouldn't have parts? His response was were not a big company we just charge a lot?? He said he could PROBABLY come back Saturday at 11 but not sure. I am disabled and needed it fixed to use the bathroom but no concern there. They called the next morning saying he was out on a job very late and didn't know when he could come? Wonder how without having parts? In the morning we called Salinas plumbing company came fast and had the parts and got it fixed in no time or problems. Plus less expensive. SEE UPDATE BELOW: I had a simple shower drain leak on second floor. All it needed was silicone, and should it happen again, a $33 WingTite or SiouxChief shower drain kit that installs from above, in the shower pan. The salesman (with "his" three plumbers in tow) cut a sizeable hole in the drywall of the kitchen ceiling, and it was clearly visible a few drops were coming exactly from the shower drain joint above, and leaked only when the plumber jumped up and down on it. I suggested silicone around the drain, and the salesman strongly advised against it. "His" plumbers needed to "follow" the leak, and needed to cut a much larger hole in the drywall. His written estimate was $875-$1,500 to fix the leak. I paid RotoRooter $125 for their faulty "diagnosis". After they left, I called my regular handyman, who fixed the leak with silicone, and closed up the drywall. My handyman charged me his usual day rate of $200, and fixed many other things around the house as well. I strongly advise against calling this company. UPDATE, 8/24/16: Today I received a refund check for $125 for the "diagnostics" they performed. This shows the management is attentive to customer feedback, and willing to correct a problem. Our kitchen sink was backed up in the office, just needed a simple snake to clear some food that had made it down the drain. The plumbers they sent out had our drains backwards saying that it ran the opposite way it actually does and informed us they wanted to charge us $500 to hydro clean the pipes and put a camera down. We said absolutely not, just need a simple snake run through. The technician responded, "I can't believe your boss would want you to pass up on this service", very condescending. What a rip off! We were just getting ready to turn our house over to renters and wanted to get the drains cleaned out just to be safe. Daniel showed up from RotoRooter on time, well dressed, polite and explained that our drains did not need to be cleaned out. They were all clear and made some suggestions to us to keep them clean such as not using anti bacterial soaps and charged us nothing. This company was incompetent and overpriced, unprofessional and rude. They were called for a kitchen sink clog. (I knew I had over-loaded the garbage disposal, which was likely the cause of the clog.) We were told it would cost approximately $1,986 to unclog the drain, which would include other repairs, that we found out were not needed. A job that should have taken less than 2 hours ended up taking 2 days, with nothing accomplished, because of many delays from the technicians. We asked them to stop the work when we realized this was most likely a swindle. However, they pressured us to pay over $700 for their effort. The final insult was that we contacted another plumber who unclogged the drain, in less than an hour, and charged us $90 for the work. We finally disputed the charge with our credit card company and this company did not respond or challenge the dispute. So at least we are not out the cost. It turned out that it just sounded like the same name, but it actually wasn't! There are so many plumbing companies that have the "rooter name" attached, and that was my mistake. After calling this other company out, then being told that we would need to spend over $4000.00, to fix our pipe/issues, our neighbor told us to to be sure to call the original "Roto Rooter" to get a 2nd opinion. As it turned out, we didn't have any of the problems the 1st company told us we had. We are so glad we got the 2nd opinion before we spend the $4000.00 or whatever. We had a horrible experience with your company. On 11/18, we had scheduled someone to come out at 8:30am. They didn't end up coming until 10:00am and did not even call us to say they would be late. We had to call them instead when they didn't show up on time. That already started with a bad first impression. The technician Joey came out and cleared our plumbing main line for almost $300. He also suggested to hydro jet it for another $270, which we declined. It seemed to be working when he left and he told us that he would give us a 30 day guarantee on the work, instead of the usual 10 days for commercial. Today, 12/1/16, not even 2 weeks after he came out, we had issues with our toilet not flushing. We called to have someone out, since we were under the impression it was covered by the guarantee Joey gave us. Jeff was the technician who came out. He flushed the toilet twice and then said we would need to have it augured for $129. We told him about the guarantee Joey gave us and he said that was only for the main line and did not cover the toilet. Joey said he cleared the lines when he came out so there is no reason why this should not be working less than 2 weeks later, unless he didn't do the job completely. Jeff was VERY rude and told us that he couldn't help us, unless we wanted to pay MORE MONEY since it was supposedly a toilet issue. The toilet is connected to the main line so this shouldn't be an issue with the guarantee!!! This is a big problem because we not only STILL have a plumbing issue but you have your technicians coming out trying to charge us more money than we already paid while being rude about it and storming out without doing any work. This is very poor service with an unprofessional attitude. read more

This place is an overpriced rip-off. I would never use them again. I phoned for an estimate and they said it would be about $120. The guy came out about a half hour later. They charged me about $250 for a simple clogged main drain. It took, at best, 15 minutes for a simple drain clearing. It should have cost about half of that. When you are stuck, what are you options?
