We stopped in here on a Saturday morning to chill and do some crossword. It was too chilly to sit outside but the patio was very cute. We got the punk tart and the burrito. The raspberry felt super fresh and had a little sourness to it which we liked. The Bacon Burrito was okay, it just didn't have enough bacon. The flat white was standard and the barista offered to make us a chocolate espresso drink cut with hot coffee to accommodate our half sweet request. The ordering interaction was fine, but felt a bit curt. I'm not sure if this is their schtick (kinda like steins) but prefer a more upbeat tone from my weekend coffee shop. read more

Recently pulled my back out badly. Was in desperate need of a great coffee and something to eat today. Coffee science was the best coffee I've had in this city hands down. It was a fast delivery, which was great. They were out of the sandwich I ordered and replaced it with a STUFFED veggie and egg burrito and a personalized note apologizing for the replacement. But that burrito honestly hit harder than a BLT could have, and the mocha latte was better relief than the pain meds I'm on. I've been wanting to try this place for months. It is premade and I usually ask to add coffee brew to it to make it less sweet. The line was long but no one complained because science was in motion with every expresso served. I visited this little hidden jewel on Thanksgiving Day. I was in town visiting. This shop was the only one opened for miles and the caffeine addicts did not disappoint the owner for deciding to open half-day. The barista was alone operating at least five stations as he whipped up each cup of love with a personal conversation and taste of greatness. The ambiance was nothing to celebrate. There was a cooler for locals to purchase imported veggies, eggs (farm raised), and milk. The shop was underneath it appeared housing. The space was small but served its purpose. If you like coffee. I'm a regular at Coffee Science, and the only time I have issues is when I use UberEats. The espresso nebula is my go-to eye-opener, but the honey badger occasionally wins out. The breakfast burritos, when available, are stuffed with eggs, cheese, potatoes and choice of bacon or black beans. The seasonal baked goods are fresh daily. Their fresh pastries and beverage options were robust, with most special dietary needs covered. I got their version of a pop tart, and a chai. I was reassured that I wasn't the only one there ordering a chai. Both items were very sweet, and I saw someone hauling bags of Domino's sugar in. The overall flavor of the chai, however was excellent, and I liked my fruity pastry as well. It's likely a quick stop on the way to somewhere else, though there were a few places to sit. This is our favorite spot these days. The coffee is so good and the baristas are talented and friendly. They have a very creative drink menu, including my wife's favorite, the Chaos Theory, which is a wild concoction true to its name. There is nice seating both indoors and out. I love Coffee Science. Coffee Science has some of the most decadent crafted drinks along side of health options like wellness shots and purist drip and espresso options as well. It also has a great space. It gets some good light. The front functions great for chats and the back is better if you need some quiet. That being said, if you have to have a quiet place to work or chat, please be sure to choose somewhere else, as it can occasionally get loud. But the volume seems to fluctuate depending on the busyness and really, for me, the options are so good that if I am in working in that area, it something that I ignore and work around. They do have pastries as well as simple prepared foods. I almost always choose coffees or teas with calories so I haven't delved far into the food options but they always look and smell good. read more

They do weekly events such as trivia nights, food pop ups, vintage markets, and Sunday markets. The good: Coffee Science has the best coffee in all of New Orleans. Fight me on it. The staff is always efficient and friendly. I love their beautiful backyard area which hosts a tiny market on the weekends where you can buy handmade soaps, fresh pasta, etc. The entire place...inside, outside, sideways, is dog friendly. This is always a huge plus for me. The bad: Parking out front is very limited. No wifi. Very loud, obnoxious music. These latter two things make it a total no-go for using it as a place to get some work done. This bums me out because it's walking distance to my house and I'm often looking for a change of scenery to get some work done. read more

This is a review of Coffee Science both food and people: First off, the coffee is really above par; the Venetian Creme I had was superior! So delicious; I think it's sugar free too, so honestly that makes it all the better. However, I will not go back to this place - what I experienced and saw in terms of customer service was frankly appalling. Let me preface this by saying, I get it, it's the South, and as a result, there's nuance to how people interact with people in terms of race and culture. I believe it was the owner, Tom (older man, all white hair), that was the culprit. He was very, very condescending to another customer, who happened to be a woman of color, who was very kind in asking about the coffee. He was condescending and snapped at her; he was cold and really unfriendly. Juxtapose this with how he interacted with a white blonde customer who was also there - he was exceedingly more kind and open and friendly with her! I saw this difference in treatment with other caucasian customers too. They opened their shop in a multi-cultural area but apparently don't want those folks as their customers. Shame. I can't support a business with an owner that plays into privilege, good ole boy southern behavior, and shits on his patrons of color. Take heed, y'all! read more

The Venetian crème is a must try!! The beverage is a unique blend of coconut + oat milk+ cane sugar+ coffee and it was delicious! The coffee is very concentrated so wait till the ice melts down a little before drinking it or ask to mix it with cold brew to make it less sweet. The barista was really nice and let me sample a small sip before purchasing the coffee. It's a cute little shop with ample amount of seatings in the back of the coffee shop. This place was great. I had an iced matcha latte and a brioche egg pastry. Both were delicious. I love the large outside area in the back. They had plenty of seating and shade. I also saw them setting up for a little market which is wonderful, supporting other small businesses. They seemed to have a pretty cool variety of non coffee drinks I want to explore. read more

I've been wanting to go to Coffee Science and I finally made it there! The wait for coffee is long (generally, there are way to many customers for 2 people working) but it is worth it. I wanted to try a specialty coffee but I'm allergic to honey so the barista was able to whip it up (and charge me less) for the same coffee without honey. We tried a few of the pastries while we were there too - so delicious! The best part about Coffee Science is the art market they have in the back, we went in early December and we were able to purchase a few Christmas gifts. I love this place! My coworkers love it too. It's a nice little refuge near Tulane and Broad with a spacious back area with tons of outlets and a backyard complete with a hammock and sometimes a pool. They have delicious speciality drinks (Bavarian cream and frosties etc) and good food items. My favorite is the ham and cheese croissant and their bagels are also excellent quality. They're generous with the cream cheese. The staff and owner are really nice and they remember everyone. My only comment is that the music is a little loud for a work space. Seeing as most people come to work on their laptops, it might be good to have the music a little lower. I tutor online and I'd love to come here every week to do that, but it was a little distracting for my student to have the music so high. I love the music choices though!! read more

I heard about this new coffee shop while I was on jury duty last month. And then I read that they were serving Tandem teas (local distributor) so I guessed that they actually have a commitment to teas as well as fancy coffee drinks. Well yum. They do a proper tea service with a cup and saucer and a steeping vessel and a strainer. Very very British. They only had 4 tea selections with a green, black, herbal and ? when I stopped by yesterday. I had the jasmine dragon pearls and a yummy croissant! Love the style of this place with the retro uniforms and the precision in making you a cuppa. The backroom is gorgeous. What a lovely renovation. And the backyard is just waiting for more furniture; there are currently stools on the deck. I noticed people coming in from the backdoor as the rode their bikes to the back. As Alvin said the music is a great mix (New Order) and just loud enough to cover up conversations but not too loud. Great addition to the area! read more
