Rouge was really good to us. We had a very diverse wedding menu to reflect our international heritages and travel. We suggested menu changes and they applied them right away and they also gave us their recipes or recipe suggestions if we wanted to try making things at home. One of our meals was a pierogi meal and the dough was SO fresh you could taste the difference straight away. The presentation for the food was beautiful as well. So clean and orderly. We did not have a single complaint about the food from any of our guests. My husband and I were also very fortunate as they prepared plates for us that had all 3 meals on them so we were able to taste everything. They even prepared extra mashed potatoes for him. I'm not a big fan of mashed potatoes, but their mashed potatoes were game changers for me- incredibly delicious. When we sat down, our event manager came over with a plate of hors d'oerves they had saved for us as well, so we pretty much got to eat EVERYTHING. Also, they prepared a box for us to take home of two complete chicken meals (our most popular meal on the night). The staff was incredibly friendly as well, we can't say enough good things about them. MJ was always responsive to emails and very very helpful to us in planning the wedding. To us, they went above and beyond what we would have expected and carried themselves very professionally at all times. By the middle of our wedding, I almost felt like their staff should have been in our wedding party that's how great they were. We seriously cannot say enough good things about them. In responses to some of the other posts on here, I can say that our menu was significantly cheaper than some of the other caterers we were looking to go with, and they also offered that if we signed the contract within a week of our tasting, they covered our champagne for the toast. It was a win for us on so many levels but of course I'm sorry to hear that other brides weren't as lucky. read more

I recently attended a wedding in Owings Mills, MD who used Rouge as the caterer and I was very satisfied with the service. Not only were the hors d'oeuvres and main course delicious, the servers were attentive without being overbearing. They were very professional as well as pleasant. Of course, the main reason you select a caterer is their quality of food and Rouge did not disappoint. Their ability to take simple dishes and transform them into flavorful creations is done flawlessly. The parmesan chicken dish was cooked great and the plate presentation was beautiful. My fiance and I are now having a destination wedding - however if we were to get married in Baltimore I would choose Rouge simply based on the customer service I experienced. I can't say enough good things about MJ and Rouge catering. First I'll start with MJ. Out of all of the wedding vendors I worked with, MJ was by far the biggest life saver. The whole idea of planning a wedding really stressed me out, and MJ was always there to re-assure me and answer questions. MJ was professional, patient, and just so unbelievably nice. I was having a hard time picking out a wedding menu that could accommodate everyone's dietary restrictions/preferences, and MJ took the time to sit down with me, go through their whole menu and make suggestions until I felt confident that we'd have a great meal. Throughout the planning process, whenever I had a question or concern MJ usually responded to my emails within a couple of hours, which I found incredibly reassuring. MJ also anticipated things I would need for the wedding that I hadn't even thought of (i.e. the DJ would want a rental table). On the day of our wedding, MJ met us at the reception to ask us what we would like to drink. She made sure that we had food at our table, and actually came around to see if we were eating it. A lot of people say they didn't get to eat at their wedding, but that didn't happen to us thanks to MJ. Now onto the food - everything that Rouge made was really, really good. We started the meal with a plated salad, which had avocados, carrots and other goodies. There was just the right amount of salad dress and everything was crisp and delicious when we sat down. After the salad we had a buffet, and all of the food was perfect. The Rockfish was cooked just right, the vegetables were great, and didn't get over cooked, and even the vegan dish (seitan in red wine sauce) was expertly prepared. For dessert we made our own cookies and brought in a cake from a bakery. Rouge displayed everything really well, putting out fancy apothecary jars for some of the cookies and plating other desserts. I couldn't believe how nice everything looked. Rouge stayed on schedule the whole night, and everyone loved the food. Honestly, the whole experience from the initial planning to the actual wedding night was really great. I would 100% recommend Rouge catering to anyone planning a wedding. read more

Spent many hours going back and forth for a few days with this company only for them to tell me I wasn't going to meet their minimum required expense of $7,500. No apology or anything for wasting my time. Very unprofessional. I seriously can't stress enough how amazing their service was for my wedding. I was 2 months away, and catering was the hardest (and for wedding planning the most important part) check on my checklist. They were the only place (out of very many) that QUICKLY responded to me and my inquires (I'm talking like 12 hours later). They catered (pun intended) to everything I needed. My budget was serious tight and they had an amazing menu to offer WITHOUT hidden costs, just a bottom line total, and when you have a wedding on your hands worried about all the hidden fine lines like the other vendors I hired had, was a huge weight off my shoulders. So, then the big day- they were on time, helped with a cake and cupcakes that I had delivered from anther vendor. But most importantly!!: I rented a lot of vintage props and when I arrived, I found they dropped off a lot of things in one big pile and took off. My stress level hit the roof and I start running around in full hair/make up/dress, trying set everything up in 90 degree heat. People were coming in an hour. And Rouge and they're employees stepped forward and started helping me, without me asking because why would I ask them? It's not their job! But they ALL pitched in, lugging large trunks, wine barrels, wagon wheel, etc. all around my venue for me. Telling me to stop and relax, that have it handled. So without them, my wedding wouldn't have happened!! But enough about the best service I could have possibly imagined and onto the delicious food! Everything was perfect. I recently had lunch at the bistro and was very impressed. They offer paninis, salads, soups, and platters. I got the bourbon chicken with a side of green beans and macaroni and cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. I definitely thought it was a fair price given how full I was by the time I finished. ROUGE was amazing from start to finish! We looked at about 5-6 caterers for our 3/29/14 wedding at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, Rouge was our last "tasting" and we definitely saved the best for last! It was the easiest decision we made. Not only was the food AMAZING at the tasting AND the wedding, but we could not have asked for more wonderul people to work with, MJ and Celeste were an absolute pleasure. I'll be the first to admit, we had all kinds of requests with an oyster bar, special beer, cookie tables, etc. and they did it all, and they did it perfectly! This is a five star caterer and caters to five star clients. Rouge catered the celebration of our marriage that we held on the USS Constellation in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Heather was our planner and every single encounter and detail was perfect. Our first encounter with Rouge was through their web site. We had recommendations from other folks, and had been to other affairs similar to the one we envisioned. We did not know of anybody that used Rouge but their website was comprehensive and listed more venues than any other website. They are also the largest caterer in Baltimore. We called and they invited us to their facility and gave us a tour. Everything at the facility was spotless. Their attention to detail is comprehensive to include attention to environmentally friendly processes from energy consumption to composting waste. They fed us from their menu those things we were considering serving. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful the food was both in terms of taste, presentation and service. This is an absolutely first class operation. But, the biggest and most delightful surprise came at our event. We expected it to go off without a hitch...and it did...it was absolutely wonderful...the food was abundant and exceptional, presented in stunningly beautiful displays. The huge rockfish for the rockfish carving station drew oohhhs and ahhhhhs from our guests and they are still talking about it. But the surprise was how wonderfully down-to-earth and friendly all of the Rouge people are. I am not sure what kind of training they provide that results is such a professional, proficient and friendly team, but it just made our function sparkle. One word summarizes our experience with Rouge -- PERFECT! From the moment we walked in for our tasting to our actual wedding day, the staff and food at Rouge were better than we could've ever asked for! We mostly communicated with MJ, who was a total dream to work with -- she was very knowledgeable, flexible, professional, and was quick to respond to any questions or requests we had. Also, THE FOOD... oh, the food... I can't say enough about the food!!!!! Our guests are still talking about how it was THE BEST FOOD THEY'VE EVER HAD AT A WEDDING!! We knew from the very first bite that Rouge was going to be special and they did not disappoint. The quality of the food at the wedding was just as high as it was at the tasting. The team that worked our event were also perfect and extremely professional. It was clear that they all took pride in their work. At the reception, MJ and all of the other staff were immediately responsive if we had any questions. If we needed something, like last-minute changes to our tables or handling presents from guests, she took care of it all right away. Rouge also did an awesome job of working within the constraints of our budget while finding creative ways to incorporate all of our request and small details. They never oversold us or tried to give us what we didn't want and we felt that their prices were totally fair, especially for the super high quality product we received. Rouge recently catered my wedding. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Guests were raving about the dishes, and I felt like the day of coordination was wonderful. Lauren handled everything smoothly, took tiny details into consideration - like ensuring that people with special dietary needs got the meals they needed, and was extremely attentive to my husband and I without intruding into the flow of the day. The only reason I eliminated one star, is that I found it a bit more difficult to interact with Rouge in the lead up to the wedding itself. I say this more as advice to people using Rouge. The event will be spot on, beautiful, delicious and personalized, but it may be more challenging to get questions answered in the months leading up as they have so many other events taking place. Rouge is the absolute best. I have eaten in many five star, and world known restaurants, so I have a ridiculously high standard of what I would want and expect for my own events. Their French cuisine is exquisite. The preparation is on site, the presentation is beautiful (lobster crepe which the crepe was tied up so the ends ruffled and it looked like a present, or the vegetable bouquet as a side presentation for the lamb..so beautiful!), and the timing of all the meals is impeccable. All the hot courses came out hot despite it being cold out (a pet peeve of mine when food isn't the right temperature). I've been to two events they have catered, and when it comes time for my wedding, I've decided want Rouge. The managers can work with you for your exact needs-gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, etc, and the head chef/owner is a wonderful generous person who doesn't let a single detail slip by him!
