I went in for my eye checkup, and Dr. Byerly said it was time. There are many different surgeries for cataracts. I chose to pay extra for my new lenses to cure most of my eyesight issues. During the surgery, I was alert but sedated. I received specific instructions from Dr. Byerly, which I could obey. They do one eye and then schedule you for the other eye. I had my left eye done first. I could tell a difference, but it was not what I expected. When the right eye was completed, everything changed, and it kept changing. I could see tiny items I hadn't seen in years without my readers. My vision will be almost perfect as my brain adjusts to the new lenses in my eye. Amazing.

In addition to my growing cataract problem, my vision had steadily declined over 45 years periodically requiring stronger and stronger lenses. (Suddenly, at age 40, I couldn't read a newspaper.) While I don't recall who suggested Fisher Eye, it was only good luck that I wound up with Dr. Vaziri who suggested that my cataract removal could include a lens replacement that would eliminate my having to wear any glasses at all. Apparently, a fairly recent development in artificial lenses that would focus far, near, and in between was becoming routine and would work for me, even at my ripe old age of 85. Wow, I'm now, completely glasses free with 20/20 vision! Thank you, Dr. Vaziri. The procedure is not inexpensive, but, in my estimation worth it. No hassle, no pain, only gain. I told the tech that I would be flying the week after my surgery and she said that was fine and we set up all my appointments. I told a couple of my friends and they said that I can't fly that soon after so I called Frantz and the woman who answered also said I can't fly that soon. She said someone would call me back to schedule my surgery. I did not receive a call back so I called over the weekend and left a message letting them know no one had called me back. Someone did call on Monday morning but I missed their call. I quickly called back and the person who called was unavailable and would call me back. I did not get a call back. I called and cancelled and told the woman all the issues I had and how I didn't feel comfortable having surgery at a facility that doesn't return your calls and that gives incorrect information and she said "Ok, we will cancel everything. Call back if you change your mind." HA! I don't think so.

There were multiple signs posted directing patients to check in via QR code and the Clearwave online system, which I followed. Then I sat for 50 minutes with no communication--just waiting for my name to be called. When I finally approached the receptionist, she looked up my appointment and said she needed to get the manager. The manager came out and told me they had called to reschedule my appointment and left a message. I received no message whatsoever. To make matters worse, she tried to rebook me weeks out and at a different, less convenient location. When I asked why no one informed me sooner or checked on me while I sat there for nearly an hour, her tone immediately turned rude and defensive. She asked if I had signed in on a piece of paper--despite the fact that all signage instructed digital check-in only. I told her I followed their process exactly, yet she continued to speak to me with clear frustration and condescension. The way I was treated--especially by the manager--was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. I was the one who wasted my time, yet she acted as if I was the problem. I canceled my appointment and will not be returning. Patients deserve better communication and basic respect.
