Decent for a hotel bar. Drinks were good by the new bartender that was recently hired. You can tell that she was very experienced and had the right personality for a bartender.

We came to Round Bar for a meal after watching Pitt play Toledo in the Game Above Sports Bowl at Ford Field. We started out with some drinks and then got some flatbreads. My buddy got the chicken sandwich and highly recommended it. I ordered one as my son finished the flatbread. I'm glad I ordered it as it was one of the best sandwiches I have had. I currently have the Detroit Style Breaded Chicken Sandwich in my top five. It was a great mix of breaded chicken with a spice to it, sweet and spicy slaw, and a sweet sauce, all on a brioche bun. Boom!! Our server, James was awesome. He was friendly and efficient. The place is smaller, but had a nice feel too it and we watched some bowl games.

I ate two meals here, out of convenience, since it's in the lobby of the DoubleTree hotel where I was staying. Both times, I sat at the bar and no one acknowledged me until after I'd been sitting there for a little while. I ordered the shrimp cocktail one night and the salmon dinner the other. The food was decent, but nothing outstanding for the prices. My salmon was cooked perfectly but had no taste, as did the risotto side. I never expect too much from restaurants in a hotel, so I wasn't surprised by the mediocrity.

Here is the lay of the land: Check in at the little red table in the center of the outdoor courtyard if you want "full service". - which means eating and drinking at a table with wait staff. It is not seat yourself at the outdoor tables, like we originally thought. There is a nice sized bar indoors and seating at the bar is first come first served. We ordered several of the small plate "snacks" and I can tell you that the hummus is not to be missed. It is served with (homemade?) tortilla chips that are absolutely addictive. They have lots of choices for wine, beer, and cocktails. Towards the back entrance of the property, there is a drink truck where you can also order "walkaway" food and drinks. Not entirely sure where you sit with the food/drinks you order, as most of the seating seemed reserved for full service. Additionally, there is a photo booth for pics (long line) and Warda Patisserie is right next door and accessible through a garden walkway.

The inside restaurant area is also beautiful. We wanted to sit inside at the bar, so we waited for some seats to open up. If you want to sit outside, all you have to do is order at the bar and they'll serve your drinks in plastic cups for you to take outside. The rhubarb pie punch was so delicious I had to order it twice! Probably one of my favorite cocktails I've ever had. I also ordered the maurixio cattelan, which tasted like ginger ale. For a snack before dinner, we chose to get the burrata and it was so refreshing. The service was great and our bartender was super friendly! The logo with the little lamb is adorable. I bought one of their wine glasses with their logo on it too for just $10.

They didn't, but they had another similar Belgian ale that was great, so no complaints there! Our table started with the hand-battered chicken tenders and fried pickles. I really liked the light batter on both, and you could actually taste the beer in the batter, which was awesome. Three of the four of us ordered the Reuben, and the other ordered the Big Ed Burger. First off, all four of us commented on how good the sides were. The fries came out piping hot and crispy, and the house-made chips were honestly some of the best I've ever had. The burger itself had good flavor, but the bun was pretty dry and unappealing. With a better bun, I think it could go from good to great. As for the Reuben--the house specialty--I enjoyed it overall, but there were a couple things holding it back for me. The corned beef itself was 10/10. Super tender, flavorful, and absolutely the star of the sandwich. The bread, however, was very dry and crisp, but it had almost no color or toasted flavor to it. My other issue was the sauerkraut. This is definitely personal preference, but I like kraut with more tang and a little chew--almost "al dente," if we were talking pasta. This was extremely soft and mushy, to the point that there really wasn't any texture left to it. With that corned beef, a tangier kraut with a little bite and better bread would make this a fantastic Reuben. That said, I don't want those critiques to overshadow the experience. We enjoyed our food, and the service was great. Nichole (according to our receipt) was super friendly and took great care of us. I also really love the history and character of Jacoby's. In fact, I just recommended it to a family member today. I'd absolutely come back, and I already have my eye on trying the schnitzel next time!

We stopped in on a Thursday night in January and the kitchen was open late, which was a huge relief. Service was quick and friendly, though a little snarky. I'd like to visit during the warmer months now!
