I was greeted by Mike Jr (the CEO/Owner) and completed everything online including creating my online profile to be able to pay/update account info/etc. Mike was superb with assisting me. He rented us a FRESHLY CLEANED/Sanitized clarinet, with a sticker of authenticity proving it had gone through the utmost sanitization in order to be rented out. The Norwalk office was nice & protected against Covid & the entire transaction was so effortless. I also purchased reeds while I was there. I'll continue to be a loyal customer for all of my instrument needs from now on. I'm so grateful to be able to support AAA Band Rentals & to spread the word for my friends & acquaintances to also venture over to AAA Band Rentals for their own band rental instruments, equipment & supplies. She told me I got too big of a violin but we can always rent one (which I thought was fair). She also started to show me how to put it together. Well the gentlemen in the back, forget it. He got all upset, came to me and said I should just go home. Im wasting my time there. Really attempting to belittle me. I dont care if this guy won awards or is the almighty violin king. He is rude, impatient, and will definitely get an award of "biggest j*****s" by me. Go check out the other two music schools who were friendly, forthcoming, and professional.

I will reiterate that local shops in the area, who…read moreservice instruments for some of the worlds most famous instruments and musicians, do not sell strings for triple the price. Additionally, the owner tried to tell me that I may not be "getting the real deal" from other shops. As a professional musician - I can tell the difference between real and fake strings. Shops in the area servicing real Stradivarius instruments are not selling fake strings. Reputable online retailers who serve professional musicians are also not selling fake strings. Additionally, the owner mentioned they provide a service of "installing" the string for you. As an educator, I can tell you that your teacher will do this for you. As a professional musician, I have no idea why this service would be offered to me - it is not common practice nor should it be. If the shop itself is indeed purchasing strings from the makers at double or triple the cost they can be found locally or online, I would have to question their ability to do business. As much as I would love to support a local business and a local music business, this predatory practice is unacceptable.

The gem of the town. I don't think I have ever had a positive experience at a record store like…read moreI've experienced at Marquee Records. I was almost instantly given the warmest welcome by their three volunteers, Mark, Scott, and Tom. My first interaction was with Mark who gave me a separate tour of the Theatre and provided the inside scoop into the history of the building, how it was built in the 18000s and saved so that it wouldn't be torn town. I admired the building, and how they keep it preserved. The moldings on the wall were beautiful, the tiling, and the architectural design of the theatre was preserved for 300 years and is still running. I was also given a small peek into the old projector room that they don't use anymore. I didn't know this until now but this theatre is a favorite of my grandparents. I was also a fan of the DVD donation collection that they had in the shop. It's huge! They have plenty of genres for all ages and that's when I had a fun conversation with Tom about movies, and famous actors. If you take the time to stop and talk to them, they are pretty great. I found the movie I was looking for which is pretty cool seeing as the chances were slim but I was happy and purchased a few extras. Each DVD is around $2 but I don't know how much the records are. Scott is also really kind and personable as well and will answer any and all questions you have about music, the difference they make for the theatre, and where you can find them on social media. If you ever find yourself in Tarrytown and you're looking for a place to find good music and a really cool movie collection coming here is the best choice. That's the same if you would like to meet some really cool people who care a lot about the theatre and it's history. So please come browse, chill, donate, or even volunteer. You'll be glad you did.

Just note, that for some reason,…read more3/5 times I bring up a $2 record, one of the dudes in particular will say, 'oh, I didn't see that' or 'oh, that wasn't priced, where'd you find it,' and then charge you $10; it's all for the Theater, so, fine, but it sort of takes the fun out the dig or the search. These are not pristine records, they're donations. Either its' $2 unless marked' (as posted everywhere), or its '$2 unless marked, or possibly more when you bring a record up and the guy randomly decides he wants to charge more.' If it's the latter, the signs need to change.
