Nice local grocery store, Great selection of everything that you need for a crawfish boil.

Rouses Market is the place to go when you are in the French Quarter and you need food, munchies, etc. This place has a bit of everything. You can get alcohol here. You can get groceries here. You can get bandages here. The service was a bit slow when we were there but that was probably because they were so busy. The ambiance here is very well lit the place looks clean.

Rouses makes the best parade cakes ever. Yes we get the traditional King cakes, but you know you got to throw a lush Gentilly cake in there. And Rouses is the best. I don't understand when people hype other patisseries and bakeries, who try to reinvent the wheel at INSANE prices. Just stop. Rouses makes the best quality cakes at the best price, hands down. And their king cakes are just as good, if not better, than the ones that are trending or being hyped unnecessarily. I just wish they included a cake cutter/server...

6.48 lbs of delicious cooked crawfish for $16.78. And we didn't have to leave a 20% tip!

Last night in New Orleans and we wanted some crawfish. When reviewing another restaurant that had crawfish for $12/lb, a reviewer mentioned you can get them (cooked and ready to eat) at Roushes for $4/lb. I walked down, got 6 lbs for $2.59/lb. My wife and I ate the whole thing and it was delicious. Got our crawfish Jones cured for less than $20. Thank you Roush Market!

Almond Florentine. Super dense and almondy.

Ah, the mother of all Rouse's. This is definitely one of my favorite markets in the city; I only wish it were closer. They have everything. Excellent produce and bulk section, lots and lots of liquor.... there's even a bomb sno-ball place in the far right corner. The sushi is delicious and they sometimes sample it. The real star, however? Their bakery. They always have a mouthwatering selection of desserts in the case, so good you'd think they came from some boutique bakery that charges far higher prices. I got my birthday cake here. A towering almond Florentine for only $20. Can't beat it.

Stopped to get some local goods and our cashier, Justin, was wonder...alone with the guys in the seafood department and the Store Manager. We had a great experience with the level of customer service we received. Great store variety too. Will definitely be back and would recommend this grocery store to anyone looking!!

fish and cheese sandwich. A complicated recipe, you can't expect them to get ALL those ingredients right !

I'm regularly disappointed with this location.. They over charged me for my crawfish and we had a couple of their prepared items just out of curiosity.. we didn't feed it to the cat for obvious reasons.. There is no excuse for the fish sandwich when you can get a popeyes flounder sandwich for $1 more, they tell you not to expect cheese rather than just forgetting to put it on.. I mean really? A fish and cheese sandwich has Three ingredients if you're not planning to dress it, how could they forget 1 of the three ingredients? This is what we used to call "nobody's best effort".

The snowball stand as seen from inside.

As the name implies, Rouses Mid City Snowballs is located inside the Rouses supermarket at 400 N. Carrollton Avenue in Mid City. The only reason we stopped here is beacuse we happened to be in Rouses for a diaper run and saw the stand. My wife, the snowball "freak" tends to gravitate towrds her local favorite snowball stands. However, the sign out front stating that they served frozen custard caught her eye as we left the store. (She hasn't had a really good frozen custard since we visited Ted Drewe's in Saint Louis, MO.....but I digress). As we walked up to the window, we saw the sign stating that the window stops service at 7:00 PM, but the stand remains open from the inside until 9:00 PM. Oh well, it was 7:30 PM, so we walked back inside and saw that not only do they serve snowballs, but also espresso, frozen custard, coffee, popcorn and nachos. We ordered a frozen custard but were informed that they stop serving frozen custard at 7:30 PM so they can clean the machine. I get that the machines must be cleaned, but it's a little ridiculous that they need to start cleaning it 90 minutes before they close. Now, slightly perturbed, my wife orders a Dreamcicle snowball. If you are in a dire pinch for a snowball, then this place will suffice; but just barely. The ice was very coarse and was more like shaved ice rather than a velvety smooth snowball such as you'd get at Hansen's, Plum Street or NOLA Snow. The syrup was overly sweet, even for me who just happened to have a big taste so I could write this review. Instead of being a refreshing ice cold sweet treat, it was heavy & creamy super sweet concoction. Unless I find myself at Rouses again, I would not go out of my way to get a snowball here, as there are far too many superior places to go.

Dent left on my car when I parked in the lot. Employees were to busy on their cell phones because it was raining. Laziness.

Lets me start off with that I just moved to New Orleans in the last month. My car made it on a trailer safely with no new dents or scratches. It didn't last 20 minutes in the parking lot. A large cart with children's "police" labeling was left after banging my car and leaving a fairly large dent on the drivers door. Two, yes two, employees saw it happen when I asked them. They were busy on their cell phones taking their break. At the time nobody was collecting carts either because of the rain! I will never go to a Rouses again.

How cute is this toy I got for $10 at Rouse's by the cold drinks! Got some of my birthday shopping done for my niece!

You gotta come to fresh market on Thursdays for the $5 bistro meals!!! (Beware they do sell out of…read moresome items.) They also have a hot plate meal where you can get a rotisserie chicken, two sides, and 6 rolls - feed 4-6 people. (Perfect amount for 3 people sized family in my opinion.). Depends on the portion sizes your family eats. Either way, great last minute meal ideas after a long day of work. Or for your lunch break! The workers are all really polite here, but the checkout line is not fast so make sure to get a basket or cart to make waiting in line easier. It is always clean in here, and they always have lots of fresh produce. Plus a convenient parking lot.

This has always been my 'go to' specialty market in NOLA…read more The vibe is good, creative offerings and just a very pleasant, upscale place to shop. The staff, especially at checkout, always seem to be friendly and upbeat, which is nice. The pre-prepared foods, snacks, drink choices, bakery and deli are typically better than most, sometimes better than the larger Whole Foods on Magazine St. here. And, they have an amazing floral section at the back entrance. There's a convenient parking lot that wraps around the back and downtown side of the building, but the spaces can be tight, especially with a SUV size vehicle. This time I grabbed some coffee, bread, brownies, and wine. Unfortunately, I found many of the aisles and sections not stocked very well. The bakery section had very little product as did several other places. Just empty bins and shelves. Hmmmm? It is the beginning of Mardi Gras season so plenty of King Cake and specialty vodka. Nonetheless, I do like this store. Fun fact- this used to be the Bultman Funeral Home, in a classic building on the corner of St. Charles and Louisiana Streets. Yes, indeed, a mortuary as well.
