Sam is a person whose yes means yes, and will no when it's no. He is one whose word can be trusted. His work is excellent, though I'm not a mechanic so you can challenge whether I know anything. Last year we had service on our vehicle done at Route 66 Auto Repair. Issam was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. They did a complicated repair in a timely manner at a fair price. Sam contacted us several times to make sure we were happy with our vehicle repair. The car have been running great. This year we returned for a smog test. I have been here countless times, take both my Honda Pilot and Subaru WRX here. Looks like the previous bad reviews are from the owners previous to Sam. Sam has gone out of his way numerous times to help me to his fullest. My Honda pilot couldn't pass smog due to some exhaust errors from the previous owner, got a quote for $2000 from a shop in Victorville saying they needed to replace the whole exhaust system. Sam spent an extra day really figuring out what was wrong and fixed the issue (only a sensor the other shop missed) for $300. Don't let the past owners reviews stray you away from one of the best mechanic shops in the high desert. Won't take my cars to anyone else! read more

And, that is generous.. went to get a ballpark idea of cost for car repair. Jesse was too lazy to provide an estimate outside of paying $90 for an estimate. I asked what replacement of a timing chain may run (provided no engine damage present) and the best he could do was say "I'm not a human computer. I don't know how many hours of labor it would be." Well, how about you look it up? No one wants to have a disabled car towed for $100 then pay $90 for the consultation if the range of repair costs are unknown. Had a flat repair and plugged the tire. Leaked ever since they repaired it for 2 months!! Took car back to Route 66 they said it was leaking from the valve stem and charged us $30.00. Jj tires in Victorville found the tire was leaking from Route 66 plug they broke the tire down repaired the plug from the inside of the tire in 10 minutes and charged us 15 dollars!!!! Great service! I was just starting a cross country trip when the air conditioning compressor in my van came apart 12 miles from Helendale. Route 66 Auto Repair was local. Sam the owner went far above and beyond. His team did a same day fix at a reasonable price, extraordinary as I had no other option. What he did next - my phone was on the fritz and he couldn't reach me. By the time I'd realized and saw messages, they were closed. I left frantic messages as this was a Friday and couldn't wait until Monday. He got back in touch through a friend and arranged an after hours pickup. Who does that? This location is a hidden gem within the Silverlakes/ Helendale area. Within a recent first time visit, my check engine light came on and I did not feel comfortable driving it to a repair shop. I had always seen Route 66 Auto Repair, but was unsure of the turnaround for repairs (since we live in a remote area). I must saw that the representatives at the location were wonderful and had my car up and running within the same day! Their customer service was so stellar that they actually came to my home to check my car to run a diagnostics before taking it to the shop. Do not do any transmission work here! They put in an Accord transmission instead of the Honda Odyssey transmission it needed and not even a month and a half later I need an all new transmission! Brought my Caddy in with a number of problems including non functioning cooling fans needed to pass smog, and a vipers nest of wiring problems due to shoddy repair work done elsewhere. It takes an ACE mechanic to sort through the mistakes of others, and yet these guys took care of everything, and at a more than reasonable price. I'm glad to live close by, but I'd drive a hundred miles to get my kicks at ROUTE 66! read more

I thought I had found an honest garage and a young mechanic was always nice when I went in. I had A/C work done, a new in-tank fuel pump installed but I was told there are two fuel pumps, one is inline on the frame and it looked new and the man I bought my truck from said they put a new one in. Well knowing garages, I took a black felt pen and made a mark on the inline fuel pump. When the garage called and told me it was all ready and running good ready to pick up, I went and paid the bill and drove it home, crawled under it and saw the black line I had made on the inline fuel pump, the one they charged me $200.00 to replace. I called them and said I would be there in about ten minutes to get a refund for the fuel pump they never changed. They tried to make excuses and I told them they might as well hold a gun on me and took $200.00 from my wallet. The owner refunded my card and I left. I almost called the Bureau of Automotive Affairs but didn't. They all wear shirts with Certified Mechanics and so on and have it on their sign well they may be but when it comes to honesty they have no guilt taking your cash for work not done. I wonder how much I was taken for on the other work? They lost money cheating me though, I was going to have shocks put on my Ford Focus and other work. read more

Unfortunately I trusted a friend that recommended their services but at the time I didn't know they were family. I had several things that needed repair one of them being my timing belt which I have nothing bad to say about that however when it came to the radiator and sensors that's a completely different story. I was overcharged for a radiator that did not fit so when Rick placed the radiator shroud he forced it and with time it broke and caused an even bigger problem. The sensor (which they charged me nearly $200) for they never even replaced and my car still has the check engine light on and nothing but lies about "I ordered but they haven't delived, my card was stolen, can you send me the VIN to order the part" (months later in that order). Haven't been able to do the smog. The price was based on the fact they had to come to my home and even when I paid up front now Rick or his wife Sol don't want to return my calls. They could return my money and that would be great but its been nearly a year of their lies now, I have to go through legal way of getting my money back. In short STAY AWAY! read more

So, we knew we were going to have some major repair bills. They had her a/c running the day we took it in and charged her a fair price. This repair shop was purchased from Chris and is being run by Jessie and Frank. They are extremely honest and straightforward and I trust them because of all the work they have done on both of my vehicles. These guys are very personable and do everything they can to benefit their customers. I wouldn't take my vehicles to any other shop! I highly recommend doing business with them. The estimates that they have given me for repair jobs has always been accurate and at times, the bill comes in under what the estimate was in the beginning. The bill has never come in higher . You can tell that they want to stay in the community long-term because of their entire approach to business. They are also excellent in indicating what really needs to be fixed immediately, versus what can wait for a given period of time depending on what it is that's wrong with the vehicle. From what I was told, the owner of Route 66 also owns Sid's Auto, which is located in Victorville on Highway 18, not far past where the I-15 intersects with Route 18 going east. I've gone to Sid's for years when my vehicles have required smog checks. They too have been great to deal with and are very good with customer service. I have full confidence in Route 66 Auto Repair!
