In Natchez MS, for a family reunion, went to dinner with family, I grew up in the Louisiana, living in the heart of Cajun Country...and I tell you the food we enjoyed took me back to my Childhood, I had the fried Gulf Shrimp, they were tender and very flavorful, my had the Catfish, it fried to perfection and the taste was amazing, fresh and delicious. I live in California, but I wish there was a Roux 61 in my town. The service was excellent, Josh was our server, and was spot on with his recommendations. We can't wait for another visit. read more

Omg! Roux 61 10/10! My boyfriend and I were headed to Mississippi and we passed through Natchez and saw this spot and we had to try it out! As soon as we walked in the service was really good! It was really nice inside! They were super friendly and fast! I got the grilled shrimp and they were seasoned very well! The waitress told us that it's the same butter they use for the chargrilled oysters and honestly it didn't disappoint! The fries were fresh and very crispy! My boyfriend go the butterfly fried shrimp and he said it was really good as well! I tried and shrimp an it was seasoned well! Not too salty or anything just right! The best: Service by Jack was great. Great happy hour prices! Recommend the hush puppies. Charbroiled oysters were new to us. These were ok but charbroiled is probably not my cup of tea. Raw next time. Had the catfish LeBeaux and it was ok - a large portion. I'm not a fan of etoufee on top of fried food as the fried batter quickly becomes soggy. I should have ordered blackened as it might have been better. The etoufee was thick and bland. Luckily they had hot sauce on the table which made it better. Not sure why they don't have any cayenne in the etoufee recipe. Accompanying bread stick was stale. Tried the famous Alligator and Shrimp cheesecake. It was ok. Very rich and interesting flavor. Bad: gave up fries on the lunch for a salad and charged $4.95 more! poboy for lunch on roll as described, but the take out roll (went to a friends for dinner who happened to order from there not knowing we had lunch there) was store bought from a bag with too much bread, not toasted AND the shrimp were not charred like they were at lunch which was very disappointing. The blackened catfish was soft on a very soft bun which was not toasted. No contrast in texture. The service here is always great, but check your bill, both times they added an 18% gratuity to our bill for 5 people. This place is hit and miss, not too excited to go back. read more

I have to tell you, I'm glad I listened to the positive and not the negative. The place is huge, has that Mississippi River vibe and decor and was easy to find. Staff was great. My server explained the menu and gave some great suggestions. I started with the seafood gumbo. I'm serious about my gumbo, and this was good gumbo. I had a Seafood Potato that was fantastic. We went on a Saturday (11/1) evening so there was about a 20/25 minute wait. The atmosphere was lively and friendly. We sat near the back bar, the service was good and the food was yummy. We got fried green tomatoes, grilled oysters (both ways) for starters. I got the seafood potato but I swapped it out for pasta. The hubs got fried catfish. Food quality is not where it used to be. Changed gumbo recipe and the catfish are thick pieces with flour based batter vs cornmeal no longer thin and crispy. Will definitely find another local place to eat. read more

We really had a great experience here! Everyone was super nice, and hospitable. I think the crowd of the place was a bit overwhelming, and that could be felt at the entrance. We had to wait about 45 minutes, but that was expected considering we did not make a reservation. The food itself hit the spot for sure. My only problem was that we sat near the grill and the air conditioner kept coming on. It was blowing so hard that we could see it flutter the menus. I had charbroiled oysters they were delicious and nice big and plump, I also had a side salad that's full of fancy greens, such as arugula and other other stuff in it, and also had tangerine sections, some dried cranberries or cherries. We recently dined at Roux 61 Seafood, and it was a mixed experience. My wife had the coconut shrimp, which she absolutely loved--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I tried the grilled oysters, which were decent but slightly overcooked and still cooking for 3-4 more minutes boiling while on our table, with the cheese being a bit too burnt for my liking. We also shared the seafood nachos, which were okay, but I wouldn't order them again. The restaurant itself is very nice and has the polished vibe of a franchised establishment. Everything was on point. I was visiting family and I'd heard nothing but good things about R61 so same family and I came on a Saturday afternoon. The place looked quite packed when we came, but my party was seated immediately. We started with buffalo wings for the table and they were the best buffalo wings I've had. The flavor was surprisingly complex, not just straight buffalo, but a subtle hint of sweetness that complemented the overall taste. The wings were also very meaty, not small and scrawny like most wings you get out, it's a definitely must to try. For my entree, I ordered the peacemaker which is a poboy made with fried shrimp and fried oysters. Upon first bite I was immediately transported to eating poboys in my hometown of new orleans, the taste was pretty spot on, everything from the bread to the taste of the mayo, it was so good!
