Had a very pleasant first time experience here. Jon was great, the view was beautiful overlooking the vineyards on a hill as the snow came down over them. Jon was one of the most knowledgeable gentlemen I've met in regards to wine. He shared and abundance of knowledge with me which I appreciated very much. The wines were excellent as was the experience. I brought my 2 small children here and didn't feel unwelcome whatsoever (even thought my youngest 10 month old did his best to chew a menu up). Honestly, it exceeded all expectations--we tried both of their flights and enjoyed each of the pours and their whites were our favorite. Cute place, we dropped by here for wine today. Tastings are $14 and you get to choose 5 small glasses of wine, which was pretty good. My favorite was the Pinot Noir but the cherry cider was also good. Wine by the glass was also reasonable, like $7+. We enjoyed some of that on the patio - if you're doing a tasting, it has to be done indoors so the (bartendress?) can serve you. The staff there was very knowledgeable about the wine, too, and even suggested another nearby winery for us nearby, which we headed to after. The building seemed new and was very pretty, and they also have food, NA beverages, and chocolate for purchase. read more

Take the gravel drive to the top of a hill if you want a beautiful sunset experience. We arrived on a Friday and there was a live music. We ordered a preselected flight. They accept cash or credit. I had the enthusiast wine flight and my husband had the cider flight. There was some food to select but they were out of a meat and cheese option my husband inquired about. We ended up getting the garlic artichoke spread and crackers. Found ourselves a seat on the deck in the back and quickly learned the table was wiggly; so the balance game of cheese board and wine flight was interesting. Unfortunately it wasn't a table leg issue it was a base issue and since there were no other available tables we took it. Made for an eventful drinking and eating experience anyway. We were approached by a women that let us know she was selling flowers on the other side of the building. I love fresh flowers so I grabbed some cash and put together a beautiful bouquet. We stayed to watch the sunset and the band played until 8pm. Beautiful evening to be out in it. read more

The Rove offers a stand-out tasting experience, especially if you go on a weekday afternoon, when the tourists aren't around. Yes, the wines are excellent. But the Rove's competitive advantage is also its staff. The afternoon of October 28th, two staffers walked me through a flight of wines. They offered insights about them in a friendly, conversational way. I'm not stupid when it comes to wines, but I'm unfamiliar with them (I'm a Pabst drinker). So I was glad for the chance to talk things over with them while sampling the wines. If you're not sure what you want, try the Connoisseur Flight. Some may consider it pricey (four glasses, $24). But it's a representative selection of Rove wines which will help you zero in on what you like. It led me to buy six bottles which my wife and friends will certainly enjoy on our next special occasion. read more

One of the most beautiful vineyards I was fortunate to visit while in Traverse City. There is a patio that looks out to the sunset over the vines, and they played live music for all to enjoy. I tried a few of the homemade chocolates form inside, and they were a terrific pairing for the wine. When I went, it was setup so that there was a long table with wines under an outdoor pavilion, and there wasn't a large selection. So, that was different, but it was towards the end of the evening, so that could have been why. Overall, wonderful experience with the music, sunset, patio, and drinks. The vineyard was beautiful to walk into and take pictures as well. read more

Five stars for the beautiful view and great service. I was a little underwhelmed with the Rove chartreuse board. Triscuits in a plastic to go box... I loved the olives and the fig jam but the meat and cheese offerings were just ok. Our wine sampling was also ok, I opted for the red and white combo but switched to Riesling from the Chardonnay. There is $1 up charge for any changes. Riesling was my favorite here so I was happy with that decision. Normally not a big deal but its not a reserve bottle or anything special so the charge just does not make sense. The Cab they poured was way too young and the Rose bland. We also got reprimended for walking down to the vineyard to take a picture. If thats your rule its understandable but a sign would be much better than chasing us down. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE I could have stayed here all day. If there was an option for overnight accommodations, it would be a no brainer to stay here. The wine is delicious and everyone working there is able to answers questions and inform customers about their wines. They were personable, friendly, gave great local recommendations for dinner, etc. I cannot recommend Rove enough. Also, if you haven't been to Traverse city before the wineries that take reservations are booked way in advance, and the non reservation wineries have 60-120 min waits if you decide to head down on a weekend. This place took reservations but they had spots available the weekend of. We ordered wine samplers and enjoyed the beautiful blue sky. The menu isn't overwhelming so we tried everything. Out of all the wineries we went to this was one of two that I actually bought a bottle from. It was absolutely amazing. The food wasn't special and was merely store bought crackers, meats, cheese, but it paired well with the wines and was reasonably priced. The olives had incredible flavor though. They met all the Covid guidelines and the staff was on top of cleaning and sanitizing. The staff was also very attentive and delightful. We stopped in on a group tour with 5 couples. We had the whole tasting room reserved and we all did individual tastings. While the atmosphere and scenery is beautiful, we weren't overly impressed by the rest. We understand that it's covid and it's hard to interact with staff, but it didn't feel like a true tasting. The bartenders basically just kept checking your list and pouring your next tasting. They never taught us about each one or gave us many details on each sample. It was awkward because they all have masks on and are behind a shower curtain while pouring drinks, but the best part of tastings is always learning about each sample. While doing the tasting, we weren't allowed to walk away from the bar. They were very strict on this and we weren't even allowed to take a drink on the patio. We had to stand at the bar and complete the entire tasting before we could move to the patio or their tent. The wives did like that they provided blankets while outside because it was pretty chilly. It was pouring for a lot go our visit and a lot of water was coming into the tent. Overall, not our favorite spot but maybe just ordering one drink and enjoying the patio would be better than a tasting. read more

Rove has a great location with a nice overlook of their vineyards and surrounding area. Really wanted to try their new sparkling - only to find out it was not able to be sampled, bottle only, and staff did not have much knowledge of tasting notes (for $28 need a bit more confidence to buy). Staff were all young and lacked training in knowledge of wine. Tastings were limited to a pre-set flight and glasses were $8 for non-local grapes and $10+ for MI ones. (1) Glass prices are much higher than other places in area (2) Never seen a local place highlight so many wines not from area (not my preference, if I'm in MI I want MI wine) 3) Pours are disappointingly very conservative. So we occasionally have gotten cider but now they've cut down on options there too, only having 1 on offer. Ok....but their charcuterie plate was always a nice item....but that too has changed. For $17 you can see what we got in a poorly presented plastic container with Prairie Breeze being the only stand out (the fig jam and mustard were less than a tablespoon in size). I've met Mackenzie before and enjoy her company, but part of what drew us to Rove (approachable, affordable, presentation, etc) is getting lost.  I think more focus on experience and less on entertainment could improve future visits. Sadly will be a while before we give it another chance. read more

You are paying for a view! Great wine but a few dollars overpriced for the expected quality. Had the red wine flight and some of the wines weren't amazingly good, but they were satisfying to drink looking out the outdoor deck. The Cabernet Franc/Merlot was bold and flavorful, yet not too sweet. Other than wine, they sell a variety hand food that pair with wine. For Traverse City (one of the best wine cities in the US), their wine is standard. The view is undoubtably beautiful and atmosphere was relaxing. My S/O made reservation here for a tasting and I'm not much of a wine drinker but I went along and I'm glad I did. First, I can't understate how beautiful a setting this vineyard is. The trees, sunsets, rows of grapes and even the tasting room are like something out of a Napa Valley magazine. Its just gorgeous. I could sit, no wine, and take in the views alone all day. The tasting while but was underwhelming. The have an EXCELLENT red blend, and a Riesling that while very sweet I rather enjoyed the complexity. That said, I prefer scotch so don't take my word for it. What really made my night was the Mules. Dry Cider, regular apple Cider, Spices all served hot and on a 50 degree night made for a great experience out on their expansive patio. I'd really like this place to succeed and I'll be back. I'm hoping they can get a few more snacks on their menu (expand the charcuterie selections) and I'd love to see so more diversity in the wine (ice-wine, ports, sparkling). Also, the people! our servers worked as a team and the young man who did the tasting for us (cant remember his name) was just great. Knowledgeable on flavor profiles, growing process and awards.
