This is easily what is missing in my own patients workouts that lead them to injury and then physical therapy. Endure is really something special. I've been a member for over a year, and I've seen significant improvements. The owners, Justin and Don, are a huge part of that. They're incredibly kind and genuinely care about every person who walks in. Unlike many gyms, they pay close attention to form and give thoughtful corrections to help prevent injury and make sure you're getting the most out of each session. Don has helped me work though some back issues, and his guidance has made a huge difference in both my performance and recovery. Classes are one hour and come in two types: Strength and Total Body (a mix of strength and cardio). The small class sizes are perfect--you never feel lost in the crowd. It truly feels like personal training in a group setting. If you're looking for a clean, friendly, and motivating place to work out with trainers who actually care, this gym is a total gem. I've been dealing with a prolonged illness, and per their own policy, clients with symptoms are not allowed to attend class (which I fully respect). But when I reached out to explain my situation, I was only given a two-week extension -- no flexibility, no empathy, just a firm deadline. When I tried to use the remaining classes before expiration, I did not show up due to a worsening cough at the day of class-- again, trying to be responsible and follow their rules. I then received a late cancel/no show warning email, which said I'd normally be charged an extra $15 fee on top of the class I already paid for, just for being too sick to attend. Although the fee was waived this time, the tone of the message and the overall approach felt more like a punishment system than a client-centered one. The policy is confusing, rigid, and completely lacking in support for people dealing with health issues. It left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome -- not something I expect from a wellness studio.

They don't have a reception area so I was a little lost walking in but I just followed what everyone else was doing. The workout itself was fine. Compared to the classes I took in the past I didn't find the instructor to be helpful. When I got home I got an email about my bill from Pilates V which was a charge for grip socks which I did not purchase. I ended up reaching out to management for a refund. There was a couple back and forth with the emails where I had to reach out for updates. It did become a bit frustrating because I didn't talk to the instructor at all but was told that the instructor said it was me that purchased. In the end I received my refund which I was thankful for however I feel like this could have been solved in a more efficient way. I ended up not using the rest of the Groupon classes but it's a loss I would rather take than take more classes.

I am grateful to Patrick and Shawna, they don't just "run" a gym, but they formed a community. I often drive 6th day up to their gym for their Saturday bootcamp, where it's a mix of cardio, core and boxing with warm-up and cool down. There's bigger name gyms out there with all the fancy machines, but you don't learn technique and don't get a complete workout. Now, I can do burpees, crunches and push-up with ease. I don't recall ever being so balanced in my fitness, meaning my cardio, core and strength is balanced. Side benefit is I don't slouch anymore! Side note, Patrick and Shawna also give back to the community and take in kids after school giving them a place to learn about exercise and boxing.

During COVID-19 Shawna and Patrick did a great job providing online classes which I really appreciated while being stuck inside. The gym is extremely clean and they have their own parking lot which makes parking a breeze. I usually attend their 6:00 classes and the other members quickly became friends. My favorite instructors are Amy K, Amy B, Maddie, Moji, and Sabrina. It's an actual workout. Not as challenging as Lagree but still quite challenging especially if you push yourself. I love that it's a small studio which makes it very intimate. All the instructors make it a point to remember your name and I love that. I recommend doing a stretch class if it's your first time. Don't get discouraged and keep coming!

Came by for opening day to preview the classes and try the reformer machines. They offer a promo…read morewhere you can try 6 classes for only $60. $10/class for a reformer class is unheard of! The waiting area is a bit small, but looks clean and well-maintained. It does get a bit crowded though if it's busy. Studio itself has 12 machines and tons of screens everywhere. The routine is played on the screen and the instructor focuses on adjusting the clients. It's a little different than what I'm used to - typically there aren't screens and the instructor is both leading the class and simultaneously offering adjustments. I do wish the screens would show how long you're in the move for. It only starts counting down after 20 seconds, but I want to know how long I need to plan to suffer for!

All three class reservations were made in person at the studio, not through the app. Today, I arrived for what was supposed to be my third and final class. Upon arrival, Neijah informed me that I was not enrolled in the class. I responded, "That's fine, can you book me into the next class?" Neijah then told me that I had no remaining classes or points on my account and that I would need to purchase additional classes. I explained multiple times that today's class was my third and final class, and I asked her to review my account to verify that I had only attended two classes. After checking, she claimed that her system showed I had cancelled classes, missed classes, and therefore had no remaining classes available. She repeatedly told me that I needed to buy more classes. I explained at least four to six times that I had never cancelled any classes and that I had personally booked today's class at the studio after my previous session. I suggested that either the system or the employee who assisted me may have entered something incorrectly. Unfortunately, it felt as though Neijah was not listening to anything I was saying. Rather than investigating further, she simply continued repeating what the system showed. At no point did she attempt to look deeper into the issue, review the reservation history, determine who helped me make the booking, or otherwise investigate what may have happened. She showed no interest in resolving the situation. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I knew I had not attended a third class, had not cancelled any reservations, and had not even redeemed the complimentary shake that comes with completing the three-class package. None of that seemed to matter. Her response remained the same: "The system says you cancelled classes, had no-shows, and have no classes left. You need to buy more classes." The situation then escalated unnecessarily when she threatened to call the police if I did not leave the premises. At that point, I began recording the interaction to ensure there was an accurate record of what was being said. I asked why I was being told to leave when I was simply trying to explain the situation and seek a resolution. After returning home, I checked my email and discovered what had actually happened. My class was not scheduled for 7:15 a.m. as I believed--it was scheduled for 9:35 a.m. All Neijah needed to do was thoroughly review the reservation details in the system, and she would have seen that the class existed but was scheduled for a different time. Instead, I was subjected to an embarrassing and completely avoidable experience. I printed the email confirmation showing my 9:35 a.m. reservation and returned to the studio to provide proof. When I arrived, Neijah again told me to leave or she would call the police. I left the printed confirmation on the counter and departed. This occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. Then, at 9:09 a.m., I received an email notifying me that my 9:35 a.m. class had been cancelled. The entire situation was handled terribly from start to finish. A simple review of the reservation details could have resolved everything in minutes. Instead, I was repeatedly told to purchase more classes, treated as though I was at fault, threatened with police involvement, and ultimately denied the customer service and professionalism that should be expected. I have recordings of the interactions because I felt the situation was being misrepresented, and I am currently attempting to contact the owners or someone above Neijah in management to request a refund and formally address how this matter was handled.

Barry's Burlingame was one of the worst first-time gym experiences I've had. (And that's saying…read moresomething since I recently tried 7 gyms in the Burlingame/ San Mateo / Millbrea area). I showed up 5 minutes early and instead of focusing on onboarding or safety, the staff prioritized forcing me to create a marketing account and hand over my email before class. Nobody asked about **my knee pain** or offered workout modifications like Basecamp or Burlingame Fitness did. I was thrown into a dark room mid-class with no idea where my station was, what weights to use, or even how to start(!) the treadmill. And yeah, they care so much about "safety" that they wouldn't have cared at all if I'd missed the warmup. A large class of 20+ made it impossible for the instructor to notice I was struggling. I had to stop multiple times just to change weights and restart. Change weights and restart. In the end, this was a complete waste of time, while the whole experience felt like corporate lead-generation and profit mattered far more than the safety and success of new members.
