As a dancer looking to cross train a bit, I found Row House to be just the thing! I arrived early, as recommended, where my daughter and I were led through the process of setting up our erg. The instructor Elysse was upbeat and gave just enough instruction throughout the class that I understood what I needed to do (though not quite all the lingo, but am not worried about my split time, how I compare to others, etc. right now). I am sore in all the places that needed attention and my daughter and I returned a few days later and had another great experience. I intend to split my time between this location and one near my work, so the only thing I wish was different is being able to use a package at 2 locations. Still, I expect to visit 1-2x/week and, based on my achy newfound core and shoulders, I expect to see some great changes in my body quick style! read more

Row House of Belmont is a great place to workout. Unfortunately, the staff here was not helpful in explaining anything when I signed up with them. Communication definitely needs some improvement between the staff and the customers. After several phone calls to freeze my account, I was still charged the full monthly fee and a freeze fee when I am not even able to attend. I just kept getting the runaround and row house employees did not take initiative and made me feel like I should know the rules when the employee who signed me up did not explain anything to me. read more

I used to love RowHouse until about 6 months ago - all the good instructors have left. The staff is always busy chit-chatting amongst themselves and doesn't pay attention to customers. It is such a positive and supportive environment in which to get a great workout - rowing is awesome, while you are part of a "crew", you are still working on your stats individually, as it's a very tailored, and easily modified workout. I've been coming for the past two months now and I love it. There are classes every day and the instructors are all superb. I feel well supported during my workouts. Once you have a membership, the classes are easy to sign up for (or cancel), using the app. You can also keep track of your stats using the app which can be addictive as you work to reach your milestones. They've put together a nice little community at this location from novices to ex-college rowers. We all push each other to go harder. Management has been great so whatever issues people have been having in the past have been resolved. Highly recommended. read more

I have been admittedly 'excitedly' maybe 'obsessively' stalking this business opening since I saw the signs go up on the windows several months ago and have been following them on social media anxiously awaiting a date for the doors to open! and let's say, not shy about repeatedly asking 'when are you opening?!' So it seems fitting that I be amongst the first to tell you why you need to check Rowhouse out! This 40 year old mom bod is in desperate need of some low impact, fat burning, muscle building love. Love is maybe too polite a word, overhaul is probably a more fitting description. But hey, I've birthed 3 kids so......But enough about me, enter the Rowhouse. Along with being a wonderful, low impact, fat burning, muscle building workout that works the entire body (just google the Olympic rowing team) I have been desperately hunting for a place close to home with early morning workouts that allow me to take care of myself and get home on time to take the kids to school and let my husband get to work. While there are plenty of options around town, they are either a drive across town and back (plus the rush hour traffic, you know what I'm talking about) PLUS a lot of gyms you have to fight for a spot in class as space is limited or the classes themselves are hideously expensive. Sigh! Let me tell you some perks, besides the awesome workout before school, there are two options for that M-F 5.30am and 6.30am class AND you can download their app and plan your workouts up to 30 days in advance so no hitting refresh refresh refresh with 30 other peeps 48 hours before class time to make sure you secure a spot! I'm all booked in till the end of September SQUEAL which is also a HUGE motivator to commit to going. Other perks include wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. Brand spanking NEW building and equipment and GREAT MUSIC and GREAT engaging, motivated teachers!I signed up Saturday at their soft opening and doors officially open today and I've already completed my 3rd class! I'm so excited to support a wonderful new small business in our community and wish the owners and everyone involved the best with the official launch. Five stars for cleanliness and facilities. The Row House is kind of like SoulCycle except it's set up for rowing. Same concept: dark studio, thumping music and rows of ergs. They have a young and enthusiastic staff who set you up on yr erg and teach you the basics. Different classes are held with some emphasizing rowing, others on rowing and sculpting. They had an opening special of $99/month no matter how many classes you take. read more

I love the Belmont Row House. It is sort of like a spin class for rowing. I have been rowing for a while and really like it because it is low impact (meaning less likelihood of injury) and it combines many different types of exercise (sprints, long slow/steady distance, active rest,...). Every time I have gone to the Row House I have had a really good time. The coaches are very helpful on improving ones form - Brittney identified a fault in my rowing on the first visit that I have been able to fix. And my split times have improved tremendously since I have gone to the Row House. One thing that I forgot to mention on my first review is that rowing exercises many muscles in the body. So as a cyclist, I was always weak in the core. One of the things that I love that rowing did for me is that it changed the shape of my belly and the core strenght has many benefits (I am noticing posture right now). read more

If you want something safe right now and some fresh air this could be for you. It's clean and the people who work there are very friendly. I'm not sure this is the workout for me. I don't really feel anything other than back pain going on but others around me seem to be feeling a good workout. It's also very pricey but if you don't mind spending a lot go for it! I'm going to try a few more classes to see if I get better at it. read more

This place is great! In summary: 1. It is very clean and the equipment is new. 2. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. 3. The workouts are excellent. The group rows together as a "crew", which gives everyone as sense of belonging and contributes to everyone's energy and effort. The routines are well-designed so that there are portions of heavy workout and some time for recovery - but very little full downtime. The music is good and works well with the routines. And the instructors are upbeat and good at pushing the class just a bit farther than it would go on its own. For some reason, I've been in a number of classes with Christine and I've found her to be a pro. She knows the routines well, provides good explanation, gives people good encouragement, and provides helpful tips on improving form. I encourage you to give it a try. read more

I decided to give this place a shot because I've been having issues with my knees and feet. Needed something low impact. Such a great find. I always feel like I've gotten in a great work out in just 45 minutes, there are alternatives for the floor work that are part of some of the classes and the instructors are so enthusiastic. My daughter lives very close to this workout studio and did a lot of research on it. What she liked most about it was that you row as a team and you're not singled out. After it was open for a week or so, my wife and I attended a free class. You can test it out for free to see if you like it. Well, it only took me five minutes before I knew I loved it. I joined for eight sessions a month. After the first week I could not wait to go back, so I decided to upgrade to unlimited. Since they opened towards the end of September, I have attended close to 100 classes. Yes, I have their app to prove it. You get a great workout for 45 minutes and walk out exhausted. Then you check the app to see how many meters you've rowed. They also email you your class stats as soon as you get out. All I think about the next day is that I can't wait to go to my next class. It's become my favorite app and workout. It's somewhat addicting, but it's the good kind that helps you get healthy. My younger daughter joined before me and last week after my older daughter drove from the city to take a free class, she love it so much that she joined on the spot. She plans to drive once a week from SF for a class. The place is really nice and every detail is so well thought out. Also you can't find nicer coaches and staff. Not only you row as a team, soon you get to know your teammates and it becomes a family atmosphere. You might think you could buy one of these machines for under a grand, but you can never make yourself do the routines they have you do. Trust me...you have nothing to lose since the first session is free with no obligation. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. Most likely I'll be in that class to route you on. read more

Liked the workout but did not like the marketing strategy. All the great discounts are for first timers. The classes and packages are a lot more expensive and not many good discounts are there if you are not a first timer. Expensive compared with other studio options, and not cheap either when bundled as packages or members. Marketing texts and emails too harassing. ClassPass users do not get to pick seats as regular members do. Makes ClassPass users feel discriminated. read more

Great facility and instructors. I was happy to find this spot to mix up my workouts with low impact and full body workouts. BUT... the mis-management of my membership and run-away charges I've received over MONTHS have completely soured me on Row House. Allow me to explain... In September, I received a complimentary class, enjoyed it, and so I signed up for their introductory promotion of 4-classes for $99. The front desk person confirmed that I only paid for 4 classes, despite pointing out the paperwork saying there will be a monthly recurring charge. I left assured and excited for a future healthier me. Soon after I had a death in the family, so working out fell off the priority list. Then in November, Row House sends me email notifications that I owe a late charge. They charged me $99 for October (without letting me know) but my credit card payment didn't go through for November so now I owe more money. WHAT?!? Multiple calls to Row House later, the manager won't reimburse the extra charges, but said she'll cancel my account and let me use the 8 credits until end of January. I had no choice but to reluctantly agree. Come early January, my account shows no credits. WHAT?!? Multiple calls to Row House later, the new manager says that the manager I spoke with doesn't work there anymore. But he honors the agreement and says he'll cancel my account at the end of January. Ok good, except for all the calls, annoyance and inconvenience this caused. End of January comes, I get an email confirming my account cancellation. End of story, or so I thought... NOPE... I still get emails saying I owe a late charge, and today I received a phone call from Row House saying that I have a delinquent payment. WHAT?!? My friends who know this story have told me to write a bad review. As a business owner myself, I planned to let it slide, chalking it up to growing pains of a new business. But the phone calls and emails this month asking for money I don't owe, after my account was supposedly canceled TWICE -- that's bordering on harrassment. I wholeheartedly recommend rowing as an exercise and the instructors who taught the classes I took. However, I would steer anyone away from this particular Row House in Belmont. read more

As much I gave this Row House a try after signing up from their opening day event at first I loved it then with my school schedule changing I can no longer stay committed to the membership. In January I spoke to one of the workers in the front that I need to cancel my membership because of my reasons. Saying no worries and telling me how there will be one more cycle of payment and then I'm done. NOPE. Its March and they still charge me! After signing my canceling they still find ways to take my money which I no longer go there. Well... I'll be coming by in person to speak to someone first thing and asking for a refund. I had initially signed up with CARLA which I recently found out she don't even work there anymore . I went to sign up for 4 classes to try it out . She reassure me that I will not get charge after trying out . I did my best to accommodate the drive coming from SAN Francisco which is a 40 minute drive to this location. They are nice at first making sure you attend to your classes but After that they don't even care. I remember telling CARLA it is a long commute for me and I told her I couldn't attend anymore. Two months later I check my bank account and then I realize row house took two months of payments I tried my best to talk to the manager. And the manager tells Me he will try his best to try to refund me .. wth his best?? You mean you will! I never agreed to any reoccurring payments or a plan . After one week of speaking to the manager he informed me he will refund me it will take 7-10 days . Well I never received my refund . It has been 3 months since they took my money and refused to give it back. Worst experience ever !!! They do not care for their customers or even try to fix the issue . I called and called and no one was able To give me a call back or email me back . This is ridiculous! On top of all that the work outs are not even effective. They didn't even try to help me or teach me how to use the machine they expect you to just know . That's one of the reasons I also stop going . False advertising. read more
