Barry's Burlingame was one of the worst first-time gym experiences I've had. (And that's saying…read moresomething since I recently tried 7 gyms in the Burlingame/ San Mateo / Millbrea areas). I showed up 5 minutes early and instead of focusing on onboarding or safety, the staff prioritized forcing me to create a marketing account and hand over my email before class. Nobody asked about **my knee pain** or offered workout modifications like Basecamp or Burlingame Fitness did. I was thrown into a dark room mid-class with no idea where my station was, what weights to use, or even how to start(!) the treadmill, while the oversized class made it impossible for the instructor to notice I was struggling. I had to stop multiple times just to change weights and restart. Change and restart. In the end, I lost the class credit and time. The whole experience felt like corporate lead-generation and profit mattered far more at Barry's than the safety and success of new members.

The workouts are varied and challenging. Each day of the week is dedicated to a different part of the body (legs, upper body, core, etc.). The coaches are motivating and great at both correcting form and offering variations for moves that may be difficult for people with knee or other issues. Shout out to Coach Euni! Her classes are always the most intense and leave me feeling spent in the best possible way! The front desk staff are incredibly friendly and make an effort to learn your name so they can greet everyone personally. Great gym! Highly recommend!!

I really appreciate how I can pick his brain about healthy habits or viral fitness trends--he always has thoughtful, evidence-based answers, and I trust his insight far more than what I see from random influencers online. The gym itself is a great space, well-organized, and everyone shares it respectfully. I go early in the morning, and it never feels too crowded. I used to dread going to the gym or working with personal trainers, but now I actually look forward to my sessions. Dr. Kelley has helped me build confidence and made fitness feel like something I can enjoy, not just endure. Highly recommend both him and the gym if you're looking for a smart, supportive approach to fitness.

Perfect place if you don't know much about the "gym equipment" since he really takes the time to explain everything. Everyone here has been amazing and very supportive (JUDGE FREE ZONE). It also has a perfect combination of indoor and outdoor equipment, perfect for summer. I highly suggest checking it out.

The front desk was hopping between assisting members and giving us tours. Mind you I arrived 30 minutes early only for one of the front desk girls to get us started THREE minutes before the class was supposed to start. To top it all off they didn't mention what number I was so I went into the class not knowing where to start. In addition, they put me on a rower that didn't have an IPad connected to it so the instructor had to run and grab one. The moment she put it on and connected it my heart rate monitor wasn't connected. It was such a shit show and it wasn't the instructor's fault at all. The instructor actually tried really hard to calm me down and make sure I was setup. She was very nice so no complaints with her. I woke up early for this and literally wasted almost 45 minutes of my day. I literally walked out and gave the heart rate monitor back to the front desk. They could see I was distraught. It was just a complete disappointment and waste of time. There needs to be better training or more staff to help with the peak days and hours. My BIG feedback is to have one front desk person focus on the intro members and the other focus on current members. This whole ordeal made me not want to join Orangetheory at all. What's even worse is that I live like three blocks away and was hoping to find something within walking distance. The search continues.

I wanted to give CrossFit Burlingame a fair shot, but after a few months, the logistics and the…read moreenvironment just aren't working for me. I honestly dread coming here. For $300 per month, save your money and go somewhere else. You've been warned. The Good: The onboarding process was seamless, and they are highly responsive via text when you are first signing up to learn more. The workouts themselves are solid if you like Mayhem programming.(lots of cardio) the programming doesn't lend itself well to being able to scale handstand pushups or overhead squat where I have seen other boxes have better scaling options for these. The Not-So-Good: The Commute & Parking: Getting here is stressful. The streets leading to the gym are incredibly narrow, and people tend to speed through them (I've actually had a couple of close calls/accidents). Parking is strictly street/residential and very crowded; I've had to park a 15-minute walk away before. I came 39 mins early once and there was still no parking to be found and just gave up and went home. For $300 per month this is insane. People filming: Fitness influencers do not blur your face when filming themselves. Some fitness influencers consistently film themselves and don't ask if they can blur your face if you're in their frame. I think that's just common courtesy. Or else you yourself need to accommodate and move yourself out of their frame. Big box gyms do a better job enforcing this. Limit on class signups: they max each class at 28-30 signups and there's really no limit but the gym can comfortably handle 16-19 people. There's not even enough space in the gym for 28. One time there were so many people some people had to leave and couldn't even fit. Some people come in 15 mins late and crowd the back and there's just chaos and safety issues when there are 28 people in the gym or more. Some people also don't signup. Atmosphere: It feels a bit unwelcoming and feels very chaotic and disorganized. Coaches just run the class without much personal interaction. In my months here, no coach has ever introduced themselves to me. Cleanliness: The facility needs maintenance. The bathroom is frequently out of order, and the floors leave a heavy black residue on your hands during floor movements. Cancellation: Be aware that the cancellation form is pretty buried on their site, and getting a response via email might never happen. It's almost impossible to cancel or get a response about cancellation. It's a decent place if you just want to put your head down and workout, but keep the parking, cleanliness, and hands-off coaching style in mind before joining. Not all workouts are posted on app: some of the classes's workouts like workshop or power building are not posted so you're gonna be in for a surprise if you sign up for those.
